The OriginOS 6 update is rolling out to the last phase of eligible devices. Part of this phase, the iQOO Z9 and iQOO Z9x have recently started receiving the Android 16 update, which brings a host of new features and upgrades across the system.

The Android 16-based update for the iQOO Z9 is tagged with the firmware version PD2346F_EX_A_16.2.10.4.W30, while the iQOO Z9x is getting it as PD2353F_EX_A_16.2.11.0.W30, as spotted by Ytechb. The initial rollout may be limited to select regions. So, if you don’t see the update on your device, check again in a few days once the rollout expands. You can manually check for updates via the System updates section in the Settings app.

If the update doesn’t appear on your iQOO smartphone, you can get it sooner by requesting it through the trial program. For this, navigate to Settings > About Phone > System updates > version Trial > Trial version > download and install.

The OriginOS 6 update is a hefty one, weighing in at around 4GB. Therefore, you must ensure that your device has sufficient storage and that it’s charged to at least 40% for a smooth upgrade to OriginOS 6. You can also back up important data for added safety.

Once you have the software installed on your phone, there’s a lot to explore, including an all-new Origin Island that offers real-time updates and improved multitasking. The Control Center now features an enhanced notification center, improved lighting effects, and new system fonts. The lock screen features new clock styles, new widgets, and better layout controls. OriginOS 6 also introduces improvements to privacy, security, and battery efficiency.
iQOO just took the wraps off of its latest mid-range smartphone, the iQOO Z9x. Now if you’re in the market for a new phone, you might wonder how this new device compares to older models like the iQOO Z7x.

At first glance, there aren’t many differences between the iQOO Z9x and the Z7x. In fact in most cases, the hardware and software features of the Z9x are only slightly improved. And given that the Z7x is an older model, it might now be available at a discounted price, making it an attractive option.

However, the iQOO Z9x does offer some upgrades that could influence your decision. Let’s go through them in this comparison.

Design and Display

On the surface, the phones are quite similar. They sport a sleek plastic build, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a headphone jack – a welcome feature for audiophiles. However, the Z9x has a slightly larger display at 6.72 inches compared to the Z7x’s 6.64 inches.

The Z7x is also a bit heavier at 205g compared to the Z9x’s 199g. Additionally, the Z9x has an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, while the Z7x lacks any form of ingress protection.

Both phones feature IPS LCD panels with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling. Resolution-wise, they’re nearly identical too, offering a sharp 1080p+ viewing experience.

Performance

As for the performance, the Z7x is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset while the new Z9x has Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 under the helm.

Both are octa-core chipsets using similar cores: Cortex-A78 for high performance and Cortex-A55 for efficiency. However, it’s the core architecture that differs between these SoCs.

The 6 Gen 1 has four high-performance cores compared to two on the 695, both clocked at 2.2GHz. On the other hand, the 6 Gen 1 has four Cortex-A55 cores, while the 695 has six.

This means that while you can expect a similar day-to-day experience with both phones, the newer Z9x may have a slight edge in demanding tasks like gaming.

The Z9x also comes pre-installed with Android 14, whereas the Z7x comes with Android 13. Although there aren’t significant differences in software features, the Z9x will receive updates for a longer period, with major updates up to Android 16 and security patches until 2027.

Both phones offer similar memory configurations, ranging from 6GB to 12GB RAM and 128GB to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

Cameras

On paper, both phones sport a dual rear camera system with a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. While megapixels don’t tell the whole story, you can expect decent photos in good lighting conditions from either of them.

Video recording capabilities differ between the two, with the Z9x offering up to 4K capture compared to the Z7x’s 1080p limit. The selfie cameras are identical at 8MP on both phones.

Without in-depth camera reviews, it’s difficult to say definitively which phone takes better pictures. So if you’re considering purchasing either of these phones, we recommend watching individual or comparative reviews to get a better understanding of their camera performance.

Battery and Charging

Thankfully, both phones come equipped with a massive 6000mAh battery, ensuring you can power through the day on a single charge. However, the Z7x takes the lead in the charging department with its 80W wired charging support. That will significantly reduce your charging time compared to the Z9x’s 44W.

Conclusion

While there aren’t many differences in specifications, the iQOO Z9x does offer some quality-of-life upgrades such as an IP rating, a longer software update promise, and a slightly better processor. Both phones are similarly priced too, so unless you find the iQOO Z7x at a good discount, it’s better to go with the newer model.

Both iQOO Z9x 5G and Moto G64 5G are recent smartphone launches in India, targeting the budget-range segment with 5G capabilities. While they share some similarities, key differences exist that can influence your buying decision. Let’s delve deeper into their specifications to see which phone comes out on top.

iQOO Z9x 5G

Display

The iQOO Z9x boasts a slightly larger 6.72-inch display compared to the Moto G64’s 6.5-inch screen. Both offer Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2408 pixels and 1080 x 2400 pixels respectively) and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate for a fluid user experience. However, the iQOO Z9x claims a higher peak brightness of 1000 nits compared to the Moto G64’s 560 nits, making the iQOO’s display potentially better for outdoor viewing. The Moto G64 5G offers Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for scratch resistance, while iQOO doesn’t specify any protection.

Performance and Storage

The iQOO Z9x is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, while the Moto G64 5G uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7025. Both are mid-range processors, but the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is built on a newer 4nm process compared to the Dimensity 7025’s 6nm architecture. This could translate to slightly better power efficiency for the iQOO Z9x.

For most day-to-day tasks and multitasking, both phones should perform adequately. However, if gaming is a priority, the Adreno 710 GPU in the iQOO Z9x might offer a slight edge over the IMG BXM-8-256 GPU in the Moto G64 5G for handling demanding titles.

Storage

The iQOO Z9x offers RAM options of 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB with up to 8GB virtual RAM support, while the Moto G64 5G comes in 8GB and 12GB variants with up to 12GB virtual RAM. Both offer expandable storage via microSD card. However, the Moto G64 5G goes a step further with a higher storage option of 256GB compared to the iQOO Z9x’s maximum of 128GB. Also, users who prioritize multitasking and smoother app switching might favor the Moto G64’s higher RAM options.

Camera

On paper, the rear camera setups seem similar. Both pack a primary 50MP sensor. However, the Moto G64 includes an 8MP ultra-wide sensor that can also function as a macro camera and depth sensor, offering more versatility. The iQOO Z9x sticks to a basic 2MP depth sensor. The Moto G64 also boasts a higher resolution 16MP front-facing camera compared to the iQOO Z9x’s 8MP sensor, potentially resulting in sharper selfies and video calls. When it comes to video recording, the iQOO Z9x with the 8GB RAM version offers 4K recording, while the Moto G64 is capped at 1080p.

Battery

Both phones come equipped with a large 6000mAh battery, promising long battery life. The iQOO Z9x edges out the Moto G64 5G with faster 44W fast charging compared to the Moto’s 30W. This translates to potentially shorter charging times for the iQOO Z9x.

Software

Both phones run the latest Android 14 out of the box. iQOO uses its custom FuntouchOS 14 on top, while Moto utilizes its My UX interface. The update policy is a differentiator here. Motorola promises an assured update to Android 15 and 3 years of security updates, which might be appealing for users who want to stay on the latest software for longer. iQOO doesn’t specify its update commitment.

Design and Build

The iQOO Z9x comes in Storm Grey and Tornado Green colors, while the Moto G64 5G offers Mint Green, Pearl Blue, and Ice Lilac options. Both phones have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio. The Moto G64 5G boasts a PMMA back, while the iQOO Z9x comes with plastic composite sheet back panel.

The iQOO Z9x boasts an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, offering some protection against accidental spills and splashes. The Moto G64 5G only offers a basic level of dust and water resistance (IP52).

Pricing

The iQOO Z9x starts at Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB RAM variant, making it slightly cheaper than the Moto G64 5G’s base price of Rs. 14,999 (8GB RAM). However, the iQOO Z9x doesn’t offer a 256GB storage option like the Moto G64 5G’s 12GB RAM variant priced at Rs. 16,999.

Conclusion

The choice between the iQOO Z9x and Moto G64 5G depends on your priorities. If you prioritize a larger display with higher peak brightness, faster charging, and a slightly more water-resistant build, the iQOO Z9x is a compelling option, especially at its starting price point.

Gamers might also prefer the iQOO Z9x due to the Qualcomm processor and its potential for better power efficiency. However, if you value a stock-like Android experience with a confirmed update to Android 15, an ultra-wide camera, and a higher resolution front camera, the Moto G64 5G emerges as a strong contender. Users who prioritize expandable storage might also find the Moto G64 5G’s 256GB option appealing.

Ultimately, both phones offer good value for money in the mid-range 5G segment. Consider your needs and preferences before making a decision.

iQOO Z9x 5G Specifications:

iQOO Z9x 5G features a 6.72-inch Full HD+ (2408 x 1080 pixels) LCD display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and 393 PPI pixel density. Additionally, the display boasts a peak brightness of 1000 nits, making it viewable even in bright outdoor conditions. It also features Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification which helps to reduce eye strain.

The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 4nm processor, paired with Adreno 710 GPU. While not a top-of-the-line chipset, it should be sufficient for everyday tasks and light gaming.

The device comes with 4GB, 6GB, or 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB and 256GB inbuilt storage (UFS 2.2). iQOO is also offering up to 8GB virtual expandable RAM which utilizes storage space to improve multitasking performance. The storage can be extended up to 1TB further via a microSD card.

The iQOO Z9x 5G runs Android 14 out of the box with Funtouch OS 14 on top. It boasts a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers with Hi-Res Audio certification. The phone also features a five-layer 3D cooling system to keep thermals in check during intense gaming sessions. It also comes with some cool features like App Retainer to restore background apps to their previous state and Hidden Photos for added privacy.

Coming to the optics, the phone features a unique porthole-shaped dual camera setup at the back. The setup features a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, an 8MP camera with f/2.05 aperture handles selfies and video calls. While the camera setup might seem basic, iQOO emphasizes the phone’s AI capabilities for capturing decent photos. The 8GB RAM variant can also record videos up to 4K.

The star of the show might be the massive 6000mAh battery. The company claims the phone can deliver up to 21 hours of video playback, 71 hours of music playback, and 30 hours of social media scrolling on a single charge.

The phone supports 44W FlashCharge fast charging to quickly replenish the battery when needed. Additionally, iQOO highlights a four-year battery health guarantee and an anti-aging charging algorithm to extend the battery’s lifespan.

Z9x 5G features a lightweight design despite the large battery, measuring only 7.99mm thin and weighing 199g. The phone is also IP64 rated for dust and water resistance, so you can use it worry-free in light rain or dusty environments.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Vivo X100 Ultra and Vivo X100s Series

Vivo has scheduled an event in China for May 13 (Monday). The conference will begin at 7 PM GMT+8.

The Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip as opposed to a Dimensity 9300 Plus SoC inside the other two phones. It will feature top-end camera hardware comprising a 50MP Sony LYT-900 1-inch primary sensor, a 200MP 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto shooter, and a 50MP ultrawide unit.

As far as specs are concerned, the product will arrive with a 6.7-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, a 50MP rear camera, a 50MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 45W charging support.

iQOO is gearing up to launch the Z9x in India on May 16th, and leaks and teasers have painted a clear picture of what to expect from this mid-range contender. Here’s a breakdown of the features we expect to see on the upcoming smartphone.

Performance

The heart of the iQOO Z9x will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. It’s a mid-range chipset that should deliver smooth performance for everyday tasks, light gaming, and multitasking. In fact, iQOO says the Z9x is the “fastest phone in the segment” and scores over 560,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmark.

On the software front, the phone will come pre-installed with the latest Android 14 with iQOO’s custom FunTouch OS 14 on top. The company has also confirmed 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates for the phone.

The base variant of the iQOO Z9x is expected to offer 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This should be sufficient for most users, but there might be additional storage options available. The storage is also expandable for up to 1TB via a microSD card, a convenience for users.

Display and Design

The iQOO Z9x will boast a large 6.72-inch Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Although it’s not LTPO tech, the refresh rate will have 7 adaptive levels to help preserve some battery. Additionally, it has a peak brightness of 1000 nits, ensuring comfortable viewing even in bright outdoor conditions.

iQOO has shown off the phone’s design, which features a sleek look with flat edges and a punch-hole camera in the front. On the back, there’s a dual-camera system. You’ll have two color choices: Tornado Green or Strom Grey.

The iQOO Z9x will be the first phone in its class to be dust and water-resistant, with an IP64 rating. That means it can take on splashes and dusty environments without a problem.

Camera

The camera department of the iQOO Z9x might cater to casual users rather than photography enthusiasts. It will have a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor and likely a 2MP depth sensor.

While the megapixel count of the main sensor sounds impressive, the true quality will depend on factors like sensor size, aperture, and software optimization. An 8MP front-facing camera is expected to handle video calls and selfies.

Battery and Others

One of the highlights of the iQOO Z9x will be its massive 6000mAh battery packed into a slim design. The company is claiming it as India’s slimmest phone with a 6000mAh battery.

It can reportedly provide 7.5 hours of gaming, 21.26 hours of videos, or up to 71.5 hours of music listening time. Plus, with 44W charging support, it can juice up for 10 hours of binge-watching in just 30 minutes, as claimed by iQOO.

Other expected features of the phone include an in-display fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack (a welcome addition for audiophiles), and stereo speakers for an immersive multimedia experience.

A promising mid-ranger?

Based on the features revealed so far, the iQOO Z9x appears to be a compelling mid-range option for users seeking a balance between performance, battery life, and affordability.

With the official launch just around the corner, it will be interesting to see how the iQOO Z9x stacks up against the competition and whether it meets our expectations.

The top-of-the-line Z9 Turbo model boasts the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage for top-tier performance. It features a large 6.78-inch OLED display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate and a massive 6000mAh battery with 80W fast charging. Prices start at 1999 yuan (around $275).

The standard Z9 scales back on processing power with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 but retains the same impressive display, battery, and fast charging as the Turbo. It starts at a more affordable 1499 yuan (around $207).

The most affordable one in the lineup, the Z9x offers a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor and a slightly smaller LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with a 6000mAh battery and supports 44W fast charging. The Z9x starts at just 1149 yuan (around $180).

All three phones share a 50MP main rear camera, an IP64 dust and water resistance rating, and run on OriginOS 4 based on Android 14.
A new iQOO Z series smartphone could be launching in the global market soon. A fresh certification sighting of the iQOO Z9x was recently spotted in Thailand. The device is currently set to launch in China later this week. So here are all the details.

iQOO Z9x visits NBTC

The Chinese brand’s upcoming Z9x model was spotted on the NBTC certification. This model was spotted carrying the I2219 model number. Unfortunately, finer details regarding this device like its specs and features were not revealed in the online database. However, a leak from back in February revealed some of its key features. The Z9x is expected to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC and will be powered by a massive 6,000mAh battery pack.

It will even support 44W wired fast charging. On the front, it will sport an LCD panel that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and 1000nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, the rear features a 50-megapixel dual camera setup. Another report revealed the storage configuration of the iQOO Z9x, which includes an 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option and a 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant.

The NBTC listing basically hints that a global launch is imminent. With the Chinese announcement being right around the corner, the wider release will likely follow soon. So stick around for more as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this device.

iQOO is gearing up to launch its iQOO Z9 smartphone series in China on April 24. The series is expected to include three models — the iQOO Z9, iQOO Z9x, and the iQOO Z9 Turbo.

Before the launch, Ishan Agarwal, a reputable tipster (via 91mobiles), has spilled the beans on the specifications of these smartphones.

iQOO Z9, Z9x, Z9 Turbo Specficiations (Rumored)

The leak details a clear hierarchy within the Z9 series. The Z9x will position itself as a budget-friendly option with a 6.72-inch 120Hz LCD display, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, and a dual rear camera system with a 50MP main sensor.

It also keeps the increasingly rare 3.5mm headphone jack and will have 44W charging support and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Moving up, the Z9 is expected to feature a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED panel and Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. The camera system will remain unchanged with a 50MP main sensor and 2MP portrait combo, as will the storage and memory with UFS 2.2 and LPDDR4X, respectively.

Similarly, both the Z9 and Z9 Turbo will benefit from faster 80W charging and under-display fingerprint sensors.

At the top of the line, the Z9 Turbo will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. It will also have the fastest memory and storage combination, LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0, respectively.

The camera system is expected to receive a slight upgrade with an 8MP ultrawide lens replacing the secondary portrait sensor.

All three phones will come equipped with a substantial 6,000mAh battery. The software side will see all phones running OriginOS 4 based on Android 14. And while the design remains unconfirmed, the leak suggests plastic back covers for all three models.

Reports have revealed that the Vivo V2352A phone, which was approved by the 3C authority in March, will debut in the Chinese market as the iQOO Z9 Turbo.
Yesterday, Geekbench spotted the same device with 16 GB of RAM and Android 14. The 3C certification of the device revealed that it will support 80W fast charging.

As per the new leak, the iQOO Z9 Turbo will be available in two variants, such as 16 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage.

Rumors are rife that the iQOO Z9 will feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. The new leak states that it has the V2361A model number. Recently, the 3C certification platform spotted the device with an 80W fast charger. This device also has a variant with the V2361GA model number, expected to support 80W fast charging. However, its final marketing name is not known yet. The new leak states that the iQOO Z9 will have two variants, such as 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage.

According to reports, the iQOO Z9x will pack the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC, is said to have the V2353A model number. Recently, the device underwent 3C certification, equipped with a 44W fast charger. The same certification body also approved a variant of this phone with the V2353DA model number and the same charger. Again, there is no information about its final marketing name. The Z9x is tipped to arrive in configurations, such as 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage.

iQOO is gearing up to announce the new iQOO Z9 in the Indian market soon. But ahead of the launch, the specs of the iQOO Z9 and iQOO Z9x models have been leaked. These devices are likely for the brand’s home market of China, so let’s have a look.

iQOO Z9 Series Specs Leak

The news arrives from known tipster Digital Chat Station, who shared the information on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). According to the tipster, the iQOO Z9 model is coming to the Chinese market with different specs compared to the Indian variant. To recall, iQOO will unveil the Z9 5G in India with the Dimensity 7200 SoC. However, the Chinese model will reportedly be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.

The tipster added that the device would sport a tall 6.8-inch flat OLED display that offers Full HD+ resolution (2800 x 1260 pixels). On the other hand, DCS claims that the iQOO Z9x features an LCD panel that will offer FHD resolution. Under the hood, this model will apparently house a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. It appears that both devices will house a sizeable 6,000mAh battery pack that will likely offer fast charging.

This is also larger than the 5,000mAh battery pack that is expected on the Z9 5G model arriving in India. The tipster believes that the iQOO Z9 could launch in China ahead of the Indian release. In other words, the Z9 series in China may be unveiled ahead of March 12.
