Indeed, the Mi 6 holds lots of expectations from Xiaomi fans since it is the company&#8217;s first flagship for the year and there seem to be surprises aplenty.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/xiaomi-mi-6-features-2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-124567" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi 6" width="610" height="343" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features-2.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features-2-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>Just yesterday, we got a leaked image said to be the Mi 6&#8217;s SIM card tray which reveals a stunning detail about the Xiaomi flagship. The SIM tray showed us that the Mi 6 would likely be water resistant and in effect be without the 3.5mm audio jack. While we are yet to digest that, a new rumour has emerged on Weibo hinting at the presence of an iris recognition technology among other features on the Mi 6. To buttress this, a set of leaked photo of the Mi 6 display glass panel and tempered glass protective cover were shown, revealing openings for the iris scanner at the front.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/xiaomi-mi-6-features/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-124566" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features.png?x10805" alt="" width="593" height="200" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features.png 593w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features-300x101.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 593px) 100vw, 593px" /></a></p>
<p>Also, the Xiaomi flagship is said to use a ceramic body which is similar to what the Mi Mix and a version of the Mi 5 featured. Although Ceramic glass will give the Mi 6 a more premium, sleeker look, it is slow to produce, so fans may experience scarcity of the device. We hope it gets featured on perhaps the topmost model only while we get a metal clad variant which is likely the case since the flagship is also rumoured to come with a colourful body.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/04/17/xiaomi-mi-6-specs-features-summary-what-to-expect-from-the-most-awaited-2017-xiaomi-flagship/xiaomi-mi-6-features-4/'><img width="285" height="300" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features-4-285x300.jpg?x10805" class="attachment-medium size-medium" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features-4-285x300.jpg 285w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/xiaomi-mi-6-features-4.jpg 610w" sizes="(max-width: 285px) 100vw, 285px" /></a>

<p>Since the Mi 6 would be waterproof, it means the charging port has to be taken care of, literally covered up and Xiaomi will likely do that by making the Mi 6 charge wirelessly. A wireless charging feature is another innovative feature the Mi 6 is rumoured to pack. We don&#8217;t know for sure if that means it won&#8217;t have a wired charging feature, anyway.</p>

The company has already <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/12/06/huaweis-official-teaser-concept-phone-render-release-dec-16/">confirmed the release to be on December 16</a>, which is less than a week away. While we are expecting some amazing specs on the device, new rumors about the phone has cropped up online, toning down the expected Honor Magic specifications to some extent.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/huawei-concept-phone.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-109890" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/huawei-concept-phone.jpg?x10805" alt="huawei concept phone" width="690" height="1073" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/huawei-concept-phone.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/huawei-concept-phone-193x300.jpg 193w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/huawei-concept-phone-658x1024.jpg 658w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The new rumor says that the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> Honor Magic will come with Kirin 950 octa-core chipset (when there&#8217;s already Kirin 960 used by the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9-2/">Mate 9</a>) along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. This isn&#8217;t exactly mind blowing specification, but it&#8217;s still decent. Further, the phone is said to sport a compact 5-inch display with 2K resolution, which would translate into some serious pixel density (~587 ppi). There will be dual cameras on the front as well as the back (12MP). The front would also boast of Iris recognition. Finally, for fast charging, the Huawei Honor Magic is said to support 5V / 8A charging tech, which would translate into 40W charging, much, much faster than the current Mate 9&#8217;s 25W charging. However, the battery capacity is said to be limited to 2900mAh.</p>

<p>The Honor Magic is said to have already passed through the 3C certification website back in August under the model number NTS-AL00. Also, the code name for the phone is reportedly &#8220;Natasha&#8221;.</p>

<p>The Huawei Honor Magic seems like an interesting device and we are all waiting for December 16 when the company will finally take the wraps off the phone.</p>

However, we were really unaware about how will this new Iris scanner technology work? Thanks to the latest leaks, we know how exactly it will unlock the device.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-89838" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-3.jpg?x10805" alt="galaxy note 7 leak iris scanner" width="610" height="743" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-3.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-3-246x300.jpg 246w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p>The leaked images of a working prototype show that the Galaxy Note 7 will use infra-red scanning method for the iris scanner to unlock the device. The biggest advantage of this technology is that it can unlock the device even at night or other extremely low light situations. Leaks also suggested that Samsung&#8217;s iris recognition technology can emulate the conventional fingerprint unlock in terms of speed.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-89839" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-1-540x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="galaxy note 7 leak iris scanner" width="540" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-1-540x1024.jpg 540w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-1-158x300.jpg 158w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-1.jpg 610w" sizes="(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-89840" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-2.jpg?x10805" alt="galaxy note 7 leak iris scanner" width="610" height="753" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-2.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/galaxy-note-7-leak-02-2-243x300.jpg 243w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p>What we already know about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/12/samsung-galaxy-note-7-launching-on-2nd-august/">which is launching on August 2nd</a> is that it will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor,  5.7 inches/ 6-inch 2K super AMOLED double curved screen and  6GB  RAM with 64 GB internal storage.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/13/real-picture-samsung-galaxy-note-7/">A bunch of working Galaxy Note 7 pictures leaked online</a></strong></p>
<p>On the imaging front, the Galaxy Note 7 is expected to feature a 5MP front camera, and a 12MP rear camera. It should be <span lang="en">dustproof and waterproof with IP68 level certification as well. </span></p>
<p><span lang="en">A big question is that, would you buy such a powerful device if it will be priced around (rumored) CNY 6300/USD 950 ? To be honest, a lot of Samsung fans will surely do.</span></p>

<p>ViewSonic is not a company known for its smartphones. In fact, its small attempt at the smartphone market with its ViewPad range has been less than impressive. However, the company is not giving up so easily. It is said that ViewSonic is developing a brand new smartphone which will have something that will put even fingerprint sensors to shame.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-3.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-39271 aligncenter" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-3.png?x10805" alt="viewsonic-v55-3" width="500" height="159" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-3.png 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-3-300x95.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The ViewSonic V55 smartphone is said to have the next generation Iris recognition technology, which will essentially scan your unique random eye patterns for biometric identification. Just like fingerprint, everyone&#8217;s iris patterns are unique which makes iris recognition a very secured mode of identification. So, with this technology, only the owner of the device, whose iris patterns are recorded pre-recorded can unlock and access information from the smartphone. This makes third party information access practically impossible.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-4.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-39270 aligncenter" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-4.png?x10805" alt="viewsonic-v55-4" width="500" height="294" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-4.png 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-4-300x176.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>The ViewSonic V55 will have an Iris scanner on the top right corner of the phone. Unlike fingerprint sensors which are always exposed, this Iris scanner will be hidden from view. When the user wants to unlock the phone via Iris recognition, he or she will have to slide the small piece concealing the scanner. When they slide it open, a light will turn on indicating that the iris scanner has been activated.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-2.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-39272 aligncenter" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-2.png?x10805" alt="viewsonic-v55-2" width="500" height="275" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-2.png 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/viewsonic-v55-2-300x165.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>The user can not only unlock the phone using this scanner but also protect files and folders inside the device. The scanner can also secure important files that lie inside it, so even if a third party has unlocked the phone, getting that information would be extremely hard with this additional security. To access those information protected by the Iris recognition sensor, just scan your eye into the sensor and the information will be unlocked. It is said that the Iris recognition tech can be used for a number of additional authentication functions, but we&#8217;ll probably hear more about that at its official announcement.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5viewsonic-v55-4.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-39269 aligncenter" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5viewsonic-v55-4.png?x10805" alt="5viewsonic-v55-4" width="500" height="263" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5viewsonic-v55-4.png 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5viewsonic-v55-4-300x157.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>Apart from the Iris sensor, the ViewSonic V55 smartphone will also come with a number of interesting lenses that can be fitted on to the phone&#8217;s camera. The user can mount different types of lenses on the rear camera like fish-eye, Macro, wide-angle etc to achieve unique results, not possible with an ordinary smartphone camera. We have already seen smartphone cases which bring this functionality to the phone, but the V55 has this inbuilt!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5viewsonic-v55-5.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-39268 aligncenter" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5viewsonic-v55-5.png?x10805" alt="5viewsonic-v55-5" width="500" height="260" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5viewsonic-v55-5.png 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/5viewsonic-v55-5-300x156.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>Even the specifications of the phone are high end. The ViewSonic V55 will reportedly come with a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 2GB RAM and 16GB/ 32GB ROM options onboard. It will have Adreno 306 GPU for stellar graphic performance. On the front, there will be a 5.5-inch OGS 1920 x 1080p display. At the back, there will be a 13MP Sony camera which like we mentioned above, takes external lenses too. It will also support 4G LTE networks for high speed browsing.</p>
<p>The phone looks like its made of plastic with a metal frame surrounding it. The bezels are extremely thin and overall, the device looks well built and premium. As of now, we don&#8217;t know the battery capacity but we do hope that its large given the Iris sensor and the 4G LTE support which can drain a lot of power from the phone.</p>
<p>ViewSonic was reportedly planning to launch the device by the end of the year, but given that its almost 2015, we expect it to be sometime in January. The company has not released a price as of now, but it has to be aggressive to compete with other smartphones with better specs.</p>
[socialpoll id=&#8221;2242446&#8243;]
<p>Meanwhile, check out the teaser video of the ViewSonic V55 showing off the Iris recognition technology and the external lens support features.</p>
