<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>According to known tipster <a href="https://twitter.com/UniverseIce/status/1438093801684299776?s=20"><em>Ice Universe</em></a>, the two smartphone models will use the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/09/02/samsung-isocell-hp1-200mp-gn5-50mp-camera-sensors/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">recently launched ISOCELL GN5 camera sensor</a> from Samsung. For those unaware, it is the latest sensor from the South Korean tech giant, which features a 1/1.57 inch sensor with a native 50 megapixel resolution and 1μm pixel size. This sensor is capable of capturing 12.5 megapixel shots in the quad pixel binning mode and up to100 megapixel images using a remosaic algorithm.</p>
<p>In other words, the new ISOCELL GN5 sensor is a step above the 12MP 1/1.76 inch sensor found in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S21</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S21+</a>. However, this sensor is still not the best 50 megapixel sensor under Samsung&#8217;s arsenal (Via <a href="https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s22-plus-50mp-camera-not-samsung-best-sensor/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>SamMobile</em></a>). Rather, the brand could&#8217;ve shipped the new premium grade handsets with its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/19/samsung-isocell-gn1-announced/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ISOCELL GN1</a> sensors or even the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/23/samsung-50mp-isocell-gn2-camera-sensor-dual-pixel-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ISOCELL GN2</a> sensors, both of which feature sensors larger than the ISOCELL GN5 and are capable of capturing better images due to larger native pixels.</p>

<p>Furthermore, we had previously reported on a rumor that stated that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/06/23/samsung-galaxy-s22-feature-50mp-triple-camera-tipster/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ will feature a triple camera setup</a> on the rear. This would consist of a 50 megapixel primary shooter, 12 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and a 10 megapixel telephoto sensor that offers 3x optical zoom. So, we can expect the S22 duo to offer better magnification over the S21 and S21+ that only offered digital zoom.</p>

Now, the South Korean giant has officially announced two new camera sensors.</p>
<p>Samsung has announced ISOCELL HP1 as the world&#8217;s first 200-megapixel image sensor with a 0.64μm pixel sensor. Along with that, the company has also announced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/isocell-gn5">ISOCELL GN5</a> 50-megapixel as the first image sensor to adopt all-directional focusing Dual Pixel Pro technology with two photodiodes in a single 1.0μm pixel.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-409853 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-HP1.jpeg?x10805" alt="Samsung ISOCELL HP1 200MP Camera Sensor" width="1000" height="404" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-HP1.jpeg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-HP1-300x121.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-HP1-768x310.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-HP1-696x281.jpeg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-409857 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-HP1-Pixel-Layout.jpeg?x10805" alt="Samsung ISOCELL HP1 Pixel Layout" width="859" height="651" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-HP1-Pixel-Layout.jpeg 859w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-HP1-Pixel-Layout-300x227.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-HP1-Pixel-Layout-768x582.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-HP1-Pixel-Layout-80x60.jpeg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-HP1-Pixel-Layout-696x527.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-HP1-Pixel-Layout-554x420.jpeg 554w" sizes="(max-width: 859px) 100vw, 859px" /></p>
<p>The Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/isocell-hp1">ISOCELL HP1</a> features an all-new ChameleonCell technology, a pixel-binning technology that uses a two-by-two, four-by-four, or full pixel layout depending on the environment. It can take 8K videos at 30fps with minimum loss in the field of view.</p>
<p>The HP1 merges four neighboring pixels to bring the resolution down to 50MP to take 8K videos without the need to crop or scale down the full image resolution. In a low-light environment, the HP1 transforms into a 12.5-megapixel <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/image-sensor">image sensor</a> with large 2.56μm pixels by merging 16 neighboring pixels, capable of more light absorption and sensitivity, as well as producing brighter and clearer photos. However, in bright outdoor environments, the sensor can capture ultra-high-definition photos.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-409854 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-GN5.jpeg?x10805" alt="Samsung ISOCELL GN5 50MP Camera Sensor" width="1000" height="404" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-GN5.jpeg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-GN5-300x121.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-GN5-768x310.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/ISOCELL-GN5-696x281.jpeg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></p>
<p>On the other hand, the Samsung ISOCELL GN5 sensor is the industry&#8217;s first 1.0μm image sensor to integrate Dual Pixel Pro <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/technology">technology</a>. It is an all-directional autofocusing technology that can substantially boost autofocusing capabilities.</p>
<p>The technology places two photodiodes within each 1.0μm pixel of the sensor either horizontally or vertically to recognize pattern changes in all directions. With one million phase-detecting multi-directional photodiodes covering all areas of the sensor, the autofocusing becomes instantaneous, says Samsung.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-409856 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-GN5-Dual-Pixel-FDTI.jpeg?x10805" alt="Samsung ISOCELL GN5 Dual Pixel FDTI" width="827" height="342" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-GN5-Dual-Pixel-FDTI.jpeg 827w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-GN5-Dual-Pixel-FDTI-300x124.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-GN5-Dual-Pixel-FDTI-768x318.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Samsung-ISOCELL-GN5-Dual-Pixel-FDTI-696x288.jpeg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 827px) 100vw, 827px" /></p>
<p>It uses Samsung’s proprietary pixel technology, which applies Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) on a Dual Pixel product &#8212; a first in the industry. Despite the microscopic photodiode size, FDTI enables each photodiode to absorb and hold more light information, improving the photodiodes’ full-well capacity (FWC) and decreasing crosstalk within the pixel.</p>
<p>Samsung is already shipping ISOCELL HP1 and ISOCELL GN5 sensors to device manufacturers. This means that we can expect new smartphones with these sensors sometime later this year or early 2022. There&#8217;s also a possibility that the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung-galaxy-s22">Galaxy S22-series</a> may come equipped with this new 200-megapixel camera sensor.</p>
