The Android 14 update is almost out for compatible Pixel smartphones. Even other OEMs like OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi, etc are working to bring it on their respective smartphones and tablets. Following some new features and enhancements, the latest Android 14 update has been the cause of concern for some Pixel users facing Issues while accessing storage.

Android 14 Storage Access Issue Details

The issue is prominent on the Pixel 6 and the later models which have multiple profiles on the phone while running the latest Android 14. The phones that have “users, guests, restricted profiles, and child users” profiles without their respective Google accounts signed in within the primary user or work profiles are plagued with the issue. In response to the widespread issue, Google made a detailed response on how they are working to mitigate the issues.

The issues can trigger multiple issues, “Depending on the device, this issue can result in the primary user being unable to access media storage. Alternatively, the issue can reboot the device with a “Factory data reset” message. If this message is accepted, data that is not backed up can be lost, and if it is declined, the device repeatedly reboots with the “Pixel is starting” message.”

Google already pushed a Google Play System update to control the issue. The users can head to Settings > Security & Privacy > System & update > Google Play system to grab the latest update.

The company is aiming to rectify the issue without requiring a factory reset. Well, the fingers are crossed until a full resolution for the affected devices takes place.

We hope such issues don’t get triggered on other smartphones like Galaxy S23 which are receiving the Android 14-based One UI 6 update today in some countries.

The user community of Xiaomi have been voicing their complaints regarding some of the newly launched smartphones and their proximity sensors. Now, it seems that the company is listening and has begun working on addressing these issues.

As per issues recently raised by a number of users, some newly launched smartphones from the Chinese tech giant. While the exact cause of these problems like the proximity sensor issue is unknown as of right now, but some users believe it might be an hardware issue. Notably, Xiaomi has also recently decided on ending its deal with Elliptic Labs, which was the company’s supplier for proximity sensors (Via GSMArena).

The brand has now entered into a deal with Minghao Sensing but unfortunately, it is unknown when the new sensors will arrive in the company’s smartphones. Xiaomi has also announced that it is working on fixing various issues that has been plaguing its newer handsets and would offer OTA updates to the affected models to re calibrate the sensors. Although, considering that this is a widespread issue, it could actually be a hardware level issue. Some of the new devices from Xiaomi are reportedly suffering from touch response issues and the reason behind this issue is not yet clear. Also, the issue isn’t limited to just one device but several devices seem to be having the problem.

A thread on Reddit, which is around two months ago, talks about the following devices facing similar touch screen response problem:

• Xiaomi Mi 11
• Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra
• Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite
• Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro
• Redmi Note 10 Pro
• Redmi Note 9S

We haven’t independently confirmed issues with these devices listed above but reports indicate that the phones are facing issues fairly recently, that too on a small number of devices running the company’s own MIUI, which is likely the culprit.

Some users have tried to factory reset their smartphone but that has also not fixed the problem. However, rebooting the device seems to be fixing the problem temporarily but crops up again pretty quickly.

Xiaomi has confirmed that the brand is aware of the touch screen response issue on some of the devices and the company has also added that an update with the fix for various devices will be rolled out soon.

Currently, there is no indication about how widespread this issue is as there were very few mentions of touch sensitivity problems online. Nonetheless, the company has acknowledged the issue and has promised to solve it soon.

A new report has revealed that a small number of Google Pixel 5 units are suffering from an issue that is apparent with the first shipments of the smartphone. The users have found that there is a noticeable gap between the frame of the device and its display.

As per a GSMArena report, a few Pixel 5 units are suffering from this gap issue, which has also led to concerns regarding the smartphone’s IP68 water resistance rating. At the moment, only a small number of devices are affected by this issue, but it appears that additional reports have surfaced in the last couple of days. These have been found on Google’s official Pixel forums and even on other websites as well.

This gap has been found in multiple locations on the surface of the handset and is always between the seam between the screen and the frame. The most common area for the gap to appear is near the front facing camera, while other reports have also found it near the SIM Tray and along the top of the device as well. This issue is also more common on the Just Black color variant, although, Sorta Sage models are also being affected. 

Notably, the gap isn’t caused after the Google Pixel 5 is used, but rather, it is noticeable immediately out of the box. A possible explanation might be that the sealing process that had the display being stuck to the frame was not done with a correct amount of force or adhesive. However, that is just speculation, so take it with a pinch of salt. We will have to wait for an official statement from Google to know for sure, so stay tuned.

Recently, a few owners of the Fitbit Charge 4 that had been complaining about an issue regarding their wearables. Reports have surfaced that the fitness tracker has a crucial flaw, where the device sometimes does not sit well on the wrist as it is supposed to.

According to an AndroidCentral report, One user said on the Fitbit community forums that “the band does not fit snuggly, as with all other Fitbits I have owned. Is this normal? There is a noticeable gap between the band and the device.” Following this, the number of Charge 4 users that have faced the same issue has grown. Others also said that the gap caused dust or other small particles to get in the way, with a few saying that the gap sometimes has the device get yanked off it gets caught in something.

A Fitbit representative has since confirmed the issue and stated that “We are aware that a band-connection issue is affecting a small number of Charge 4 users. The company has recently unveiled a few new products, which include the Inspire 2 the Versa 3, and even the Sense Health Watch. So, let’s hope that those devices do not face the same issues that affect the Charge 4 and that the company does take notes of the issues so that it does not extend to its newer product launches as well.

According to hundreds of people, the Blu-ray players from the South Korean tech giant are stuck in an infinite boot loop when being turned on. Others reported hearing buzzing noises as well, but with no apparent reason.

The Blu-ray players from Samsung have reportedly stopped functioning properly since Friday, last week. Apart from the endless boot cycle, a few devices have stopped responding altogether to any button presses or commands. Furthermore, the buzzing noise is similar to the Blu-ray players trying to read a disk, despite the users not putting any disk in the player.

This may be suggestive of an inherent hardware flaw. The issues being faced by Samsung products are not limited to any particular Blu-ray player model, which may suggest that it is likely related to software issues. At the moment, even the support staff from Samsung have no idea what the problem actually is. An official statement has been given regarding an investigation being started to look into the issue. ZDNet claims that the problem might be related to an expired SSL certificate, which is basically what the Blu-ray players use to connect to Samsung’s servers. Although, that is yet to be confirmed.

Many users have shared that recorded audio on OnePlus 6/6T sounds quite distorted.

While recording videos and audios on different third-party apps, users have found the recorded sound quite terrible and tinny. The audio recorded sounds like it has come from the distant planet while hearing it over Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat and other third-party apps. Although, Instagram seems to be working fine while recording audio on OnePlus 6/6T devices.
