HARMAN, the manufacturer of the super-popular JBL audio brand, has launched a campaign targeting counterfeiters of JBL products in India. The Samsung Electronics subsidiary said it had initiated legal actions against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and retailers involved in selling or making fake JBL products.

HARMAN recently conducted a raid in collaboration with law enforcement and its investigation team confiscated 54 counterfeit JBL car speakers from car accessories shops across five locations in Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi.

The company says that it is committed to delivering premium and high-quality products in India. HARMAN reaffirmed its determination to address any threats to its products caused by unlawful sales with firm and immediate action.

The popularity of JBL products makes the brand a hotbed for counterfeiters

Harman has also highlighted some tips on identifying fake JBL products in the subcontinent. It advises customers to be wary of overtly cheap JBL products with compromised quality. It also points out inconsistent cosmetic details as an indicator of a fake product, compared to a genuine JBL gadget. The packaging and genuine JBL logo are also another way of identifying counterfeit products. Genuine JBL products have high-quality packaging with accurate logo placement and color, according to the company.

Furthermore, counterfeit JBL products may feel lightweight, have a chemical odor, or show signs of poor quality, overall. The reputation of the seller can also guide consumers in avoiding counterfeit JBL products.

Vikram Kher, Vice President of Lifestyle at HARMAN India, stated that the company is pursuing rigorous legal actions against individuals engaged in the sale of these counterfeit products. He also said that it is crucial for JBL customers to remain vigilant and purchase products only from authorized retailers.

The investigation is ongoing and will be a regular activity to curb the sale of such products across India. There are no indications yet on the arrests made but the problem of counterfeiting may be widespread in India.

JBL has launched three new soundbars with Dolby Atmos in India. The JBL BAR 2.1DB_MKII, BAR 500, BAR 800, and BAR 1000 soundbars are now available in India. This comes after the release last year of JBL’s PartyBox Essential party speakers in the subcontinent.

The new JBL soundbars offer a powerful sound starting with the Bar2.1 Deep Bass. This is a small soundbar that outputs 300W and is connectible to a TV. It can also play content wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet. The soundbar supports Dolby Digital and JBL Surround Sound for a balanced sound experience. It accentuates your viewing when paired with a TV for your entertainment. A wireless subwoofer and eARC HDMI further optimize the sound output of the speaker.

The JBL Bar 500 delivers a maximum sound output of 590W and features MultiBeam technology for a cinematic experience. It comes with Dolby Atmos 3D and Surround Sound, while the PureVoice feature optimizes voice clarity. The Bar 500 has a wireless subwoofer to deliver spotless bass to the listener. The JBL Bar 800 has a maximum output of 720W and comes with two up-firing drivers with wireless and battery-powered rear surround speakers. The JBL Bar 800 offers an immersive cinematic audio experience without clutter.

The JBL Bar 1000 has a maximum power output of 880W and it features True Dolby Atmos. The MultiBeam technology is also featured in the soundbar and also easy sound calibration. The soundbar works with voice assistant-enabled speakers and is also equipped with HDMI eARC connectivity with 4K Dolby Vision pass-through. Both the Bar 800 and Bar 1000 are equipped with built-in WiFi with AirPlay2, Alexa Multi-Room Music, and Chromecast.

The price of the JBL Bar series soundbars in India are between Rs. 29,999 (~$367) for the Bar 2.1 DB and Rs. 109,999 (~$1347). All the models can be purchased directly from the JBL website, as well as other retail platforms in India.
