The company has captured a huge market share in Asian countries, especially in India. The Chinese tech giant recently launched the M4 Pro and now it is gearing up to refresh its entry-level segment with the launch of a new C-series smartphone. The device in question is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-poco-c40/">Poco C40</a> which recently bagged NBTC and BIS certification.</p>
<p>As initially <a href="https://twitter.com/stufflistings/status/1526398064444878848/photo/2">spotted</a> by Mukul Sharma, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/poco/">POCO</a> C40 has visited the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) Thailand site with the model number 220333QPG and the name “POCO C40”. The same device has also appeared on the BIS India site. The listing does not reveal the specifications of the smartphone but it indicates that it might be launched soon.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-460753 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Poco-c40-nbtc-listing.jpg?x44794" alt="Poco c40 nbtc listing" width="1186" height="1204" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Poco-c40-nbtc-listing.jpg 1186w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Poco-c40-nbtc-listing-296x300.jpg 296w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Poco-c40-nbtc-listing-768x780.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Poco-c40-nbtc-listing-1009x1024.jpg 1009w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Poco-c40-nbtc-listing-696x707.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Poco-c40-nbtc-listing-1068x1084.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Poco-c40-nbtc-listing-414x420.jpg 414w" sizes="(max-width: 1186px) 100vw, 1186px" /></p>
<p>It is worth noting that a device with the same model number was also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/05/poco-c4-receives-fcc-certification/">spotted on the FCC</a> certification site. The FCC listing revealed some key specifications of the smartphone. As per the listing, POCO C40 is likely to run <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miui-13/">MIUI 13</a> based on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-12/">Android 12</a> out of the box. However, it is possible that the handset may carry a lite version of the MIUI software skin. The POCO C40 will carry support for WiFi 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz. The listing also confirms that the smartphone will only have 10W charging. It will measure 167.18 x 76.87mm (length x width).</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/14/poco-c40-will-come-with-an-unusual-chipset-and-its-not-from-snapdragon-mediatek-or-unisoc/">Previous reports</a> have suggested that the POCO C40 will be powered by an unusual JR510 processor manufactured by China’s JLQ technology. Moreover, the smartphone is expected to carry a 6000mAh battery and a dual-camera setup on the back.</p>
<p>POCO has not confirmed any details about the device, however, judging from the specs, it is likely to be priced under $128. The smartphone will see daylight later this year.</p>

The<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-poco-c3/"> POCO C3</a> that launched last year was a rebrand of the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-9c/"> Redmi 9C</a>. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-poco-c31/">POCO C31</a> brought a similar design with tweaked specs. This year, we are expected to see the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/poco-c4">POCO C4</a> as the successor to the two aforementioned phones and it will likely be a rebadge of the Redmi 10C/Redmi 10. Now, however, a new phone called the POCO C40 has been reported by the folks at XDADevelopers, which appears to not follow the same old rebadge suit.</p>
<p>The upcoming POCO C40 first appeared on the FCC certification website with model number C3QP. To recall, the Redmi 10C carries a similar model number &#8211; C3Q. Having said that, the POCO C40 was believed to be just another rebadge. However, it seems that the C40 isn&#8217;t actually a rebadge.</p>

<p>One of the senior XDA members <a href="https://miuipolska.pl/poco-c40-ani-snapdragon-ani-mediatek/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>kacskrz</em> </a><a href="https://www.xda-developers.com/poco-c40-miui-go-jr510-chipset/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reported</a> that the POCO C40 will not use the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-680">Snapdragon 680</a> chipset of the Redmi 10C, nor will it have a MediaTek or UNISOC chipset. Instead, the C40 is said to pack an entry-level chipset called the JR510.</p>
<p>To those unaware, the JR510 is a chipset made by China&#8217;s JLQ technology. Currently, this chipset is powered by entry-level phones made by Treswave like the TW501, TW104, and TW502. Xiaomi choosing this chipset for its sub-brand&#8217;s POCO C40 will be an uncanny choice.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-454693 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/POCO-C40-MIUI-GO.jpg?x44794" alt="POCO C40 " width="911" height="54" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/POCO-C40-MIUI-GO.jpg 911w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/POCO-C40-MIUI-GO-300x18.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/POCO-C40-MIUI-GO-768x46.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/POCO-C40-MIUI-GO-696x41.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 911px) 100vw, 911px" /></p>
<p>Moreover, the POCO C40 was spotted on the Geekbench database with the codename &#8220;frost&#8221;. However, the phone is yet to pass the test on the platform. In addition to this, <em>kacskrz</em> also spotted a mention of &#8220;MIUI GO&#8221;, hinting at a lite version of the MIUI software skin. As of now, it is unclear whether the MIUI GO will work on the Android Go OS or if it will just be a software skin for the regular Android OS.</p>
<p>As far as its availability is concerned, the smartphone is touted to be available in all markets including the European region. POCO C40&#8217;s other specifications and release date still remain a mystery.</p>
