Today, the KFConsole is official and it is a real <del>gaming console</del> gaming PC.

The KFConsole is a joint product between the fast-food chain and Cooler Master, the Taiwanese computer hardware manufacturer. The console which is shaped like a chicken bucket has a black finish and an ejectable tray for your chicken. Below the tray is a power button that glows red and at the bottom is a ring that also glows red.

The KFConsole has been designed to redirect heat from the system to cool your chicken in the patented Chicken Chamber.

There is an Intel NUC 9 inside the console that is housed inside a custom Cooler Master NC100 chassis. The KFConsole also has an unnamed ASUS mini-GPU that sits in a hot-swappable slot, thus ensuring that your console remains powerful for several years. For storage, you get two Seagate BarraCuda 1TB SSDs.

While KFC has not revealed a lot of key specs such as the RAM, specific GPU, and ports, the official website for the KFConsole says it is VR ready, has Ray Tracing, supports 240fps for all games, and 240Hz output on 4K monitors and 4K TVs.

There is also no news of the price and the release date for the KFConsole but seeing that the year is almost over, it most likely will not be available for purchase until next year.

What do you think of the KFConsole? The design is pretty unique as it stands out from the refrigerator-like Xbox Series X and the humongous white PlayStation 5.

KFC is one of the largest fast-food chains in the world. It is known for bizarre campaigns and the new KFConsole seems to be part of it. In fact, it could be a parody altogether even though the company mentions a November 12 launch date.

The next-generation gaming consoles from Sony (PS5) and Microsoft (X Box Series X) are slated to release in Holiday 2020.
According to the teaser video, the KFC made gaming console will feature a built-in chicken chamber with support for cross-platform. It also seems to have a Blu-ray disc player just like the other two popular consoles in the market.

What is even more interesting is that KFC is promising 120 FPS and True 4K support on its first-gen console. Anyway, we will know more about it in 5 months from now.

However, what the actual product turned out to be was a special fried chicken, with 5G only being used as a buzzword. Now, KFC seems to be following the same strategy, as it announced the launch of a new tech product as well.

The announcement was made on the official Weibo account, a Chinese microblogging website, of Kentucky Fried Chicken. In the announcement, the fast food giant also shared an image poster. This featured the fried chicken box that is iconic to the company, although it was green in color over the typical red, and featured what resembles a small charger.

Editor’s Pick: Alleged Realme X3 bags TENAA approval, Realme X50 Youth’s camera details leaked

Looking at the image, the KFC box features a small outlet that carries a charger/ handle that seems like the kind you’d find in a gas station or power stations for electric cars. This is further emphasized with a sports car being partially visible in the back. Unfortunately, it is currently unknown what the company actually has in store for us, since McDonald’s pulled a late April fool’s joke on everyone.

McDonald’s fried chicken that was teased to be a 5G product

Thus, it might just be a new form of fried chicken for the Chinese market or we may even see a small tech product. Who knows, maybe KFC decides to ship a small toy car that can be charged via the electric pump, like toys found in a McDonald’s Happy Meal. But take these speculations with a grain of salt for now.

Yum China, which broke off from its US parent Yum Brands last year, remains the largest fast food chain in China with over 7685 outlets. The new outlet in Hangzhou, called KPRO, is targeting a younger generation of Chinese who are expected to drive the lion’s share of China’s consumption growth over the next decade. The franchise is trying to rev up growth in the world’s second largest economy, where food safety scares and changing consumer tastes have dented sales since 2012.

The new facial recognition technology at KFC Hangzhou outlet is the result of a collaboration with Ant Financial, which developed the facial recognition software. Alibaba affiliate Ant said this is the first commercial application of the technology worldwide. Diners can pay by scanning their faces at an ordering kiosk and entering a phone number which is meant to guard against people cheating the system. The system is based on Ant Financial’s digital payment platform Alipay, which has more than half a billion users worldwide and already allows people to sign into its Chinese app using their face. According to Ant, the KFC restaurant is the first physical store in the world to use facial recognition software to make payments. In addition, the technology is touted as being secure in that the software analyzes more than 600 facial features to make a match, and uses a 3D camera and a “liveness” algorithm to make sure people aren’t trying to fool it with photos or videos of someone else.

The American company has partnered with Huawei to release a special Colonel Sanders branded smartphone.

KFC made its way into China in 1987 and 30 years later, it has become the largest restaurant chain in the world’s most populous country with 5138 outlets. That is a lot as they only had 100 outlets in 1997.

The KFC smartphone is actually the Enjoy 7 released a few days ago. It has a 5-inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 425 mobile platform, and 3GB of RAM.

Storage is 32GB with microSD support (128GB max) and a 3020mAh battery supplies juice. The rear camera is a 13MP sensor and up front you get 5MP. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

What makes the KFC smartphone different is its design and additional software features. The KFC smartphone is the red model of the Enjoy 7 with the Colonel’s face and the year it entered China engraved on it.

On the software side, the KFC Smartphone comes with the restaurant’s app which has a built-in music feature called KMusic that let’s you create and share playlists at KFC outlets.

Only 5000 units of the KFC Smartphone will be available for purchase and it will sell for ¥1099 (∼$162), same price as the Enjoy 7.
