Huawei is set to soon start updating its smartphones with HarmonyOS. Although, the exact models that were planned to be updated were not specified. But now, a new leak has suggested that the company will be bringing its proprietary operating system to devices running the HiSilicon Kirin 710 processor and higher.

According to @长安数码君 on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, the consumer electronics maker will be updating devices that include processors like Kirin 810, Kirin 820, Kirin 820E, Kirin 980, Kirin 990, Kirin 985, Kirin 9000 processors. In other words, any chip above the Kirin 710 SoC might be guaranteed to be upgraded to HarmonyOS. Although, keep in mind that this is just an unconfirmed list, so it is subject to change in the future.

It was previously announced that the Chinese tech giant will cover 200 million smartphones. Furthermore, in the social media post, the tipster also shared images highlighting which processors were eligible for the upgrade. For those unaware, HarmonyOS is the company’s self developed operating system that was announced after the company lost access to Google Mobile Services due to US sanctions.

Lastly, it is still likely that the company would rather include more recently launched devices in the list, since these were the ones that did not ship with Google services out of the box. Unfortunately, this is still just a leak so take this report with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding the update list.

The Honor 10X Lite features a 6.67-inch LCD panel that produces a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The punch-hole that is placed at the top-center position of the screen is the home for its 8-megapixel selfie camera.

The back panel of the phone has a rectangle-shaped camera housing. It houses an LED flash, a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel superwide lens, a 2-megapixel macro camera with a 4cm focal length, and a 2-megapixel depth assist lens. A new budget-friendly Huawei phone named Huawei P Smart S is gearing up for launch. Reliable tipster Evan Blass has shared the leaked press renders of the smartphone to reveal its design and color variants. It is speculated to arrive as a rebranded version of the China variant of the Honor 20 Lite smartphone.

The Huawei P Smart S is expected to replace the Huawei P Smart that debuted last year. The handset is equipped with a waterdrop notch screen. There is no physical fingerprint sensor on the backside and right edge of the device. This indicates that the phone is equipped with an in-screen fingerprint reader which in turn suggests that it possesses an AMOLED display.

The smartphone will be arriving in three color variants such as Emerald Green, Breathing Crystal, and Midnight Black. The leak has no information on the specifications of the smartphone. Last week, the smartphone was reportedly spotted at Geekbench with some key specs. The listing revealed that the handset features Kirin 710 chipset, 6 GB of RAM and it runs on Android 10 OS. Its other specs could be the same as Honor 20 Lite smartphone.

Huawei’s new chipset, the HiSilicon Kirin 710A which is based on the 14nm process, has finally entered the mass-production stage, making it the first pure Chinese chip with independent intellectual property rights.

The chipset is also the first one for the company to be manufactured by Shanghai-based Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC). Both the companies reportedly started working on this chipset since last year.

As per the report, almost every employee of SMIC Shanghai received an Honor Play 4T smartphone last week which has “Powered by SMIC FinFET” printed on the back, showcasing the commercialisation of 14-nm FinFET chips made by SMIC.

While nothing much about the chipset is know, it is believed that Huawei is re-releasing the Kirin 710 processor branded as the Kirin 710A, but this time with a 14nm FinFET process. The original Kirin 710 SoC is made using the 12nm node by TSMC.

The Chinese giant isn’t yet ready to retire its Kirin 710 series and it keeps launching new variants of the chipset. Prior to this new 710A, the company had launched Kirin 710F which is powering the Honor 9X and Honor Play 3 smartphones.

The development comes just weeks after it was reported that Huawei is shifting its 14nm chipset orders from TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) to SMIC which is China’s leading chipmaker.

This seems like a major blow to TSMC which has been historically manufacturing Huawei’s HiSilicon chips, ranging anywhere from its 14nm, 12nm or even 7 or 5nm chipsets. This could be a trial run by the company to shift productions closer to its home. The decision seems to have been taken after the United States government recently tried hampering Huawei’s operations by limiting its chip supplies through TSMC.

Huawei has unveiled a new smartphone called Huawei Y8s. The major highlight of the mid-range phone is that it comes with two front-facing cameras. The device is listed on the Huawei Jordan.

Even the appearances of both phones are known since they are listed for reservations in China. The Chinese firm has already revealed that the Honor Play 4T Pro is powered by Kirin 810. However, the name of the processor that fuels the Honor Play 4T was not known. A fresh report on 91mobiles that cites leaked information from tipster Ishan Agarwal reveals that the Play 4T is driven by the dated Kirin 710A SoC.

The Honor Play 4Tv will have 6.4-inch IPS LCD HD+ panel with 261ppi pixel density support. The punch-hole screen has an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The back panel of the phone is decked with an LED flash assisted 48-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera system and a fingerprint scanner.

The Honor 9X series will be getting a new member soon. The series which already includes the Honor 9X and the Honor 9X Pro will now be joined by the Honor 9X Lite. Ahead of the phone’s launch, a Pakistani online store already has the phone up for pre-order and it includes all of the specifications as well as the price.

The Honor 9X Lite will have a 6.5-inch FullView Display with a 91% screen-to-body ratio. The display is certified by TUV Rheinland. The listing doesn’t show the front of the display, so we can’t tell if it has a notch or a punch hole. It also doesn’t state the resolution of the display.

There is a Kirin 710 processor under the hood. Users will also get 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. On the back of the phone are dual cameras – a 48MP f/1.8 1.2” primary sensor and a 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor. The phone has phase-detection autofocus (PDAF). The front-facing camera is a 16MP f/2.0 1.3” sensor.

The Honor 9X Lite has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, supports face unlock, and has a 3750mAh battery capacity. It runs EMUI 9.0 (based on Android 9) but the listing says it is upgradeable to Android 10. Its dimensions are given as 160.4 x 76.6 x 7.8 mm while its weight is put at 175 grams.

The online store has put a price tag of PKR 31,999 (~$207) on the phone and pre-orders come with a free exclusive giftbox that includes a selfie-stick, ring hook, and cable. Order is said to be limited and stock will be available in April 2020 which is about six weeks away.

Ahead of the official renders of the phone have surfaced on a Chinese retailer site that it will be releasing in four color editions in China. Also, through a China Telecom listing, the pricing of its four variants have been revealed.

It has been found that the Huawei Enjoy 10 Plus will be hitting Chinese markets in color options like Magic Night Black, Realm of Sky (Blue), Red Teal Orange and Emerald Green. The China Telecom listing of the smartphone (model number STK-AL00) has revealed that the phone will be releasing in four editions such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. These variants are mentioned with respective price tags of 1,299 Yuan (~$181), 1,599 Yuan (~$223), 1,999 Yuan (~$279) and 2,199 Yuan (~$307). It is advisable to digest the pricing information with a grain of salt since price information on China Telecom for some unreleased phones were found to be incorrect in the past.

Honor will be announcing the Honor 20S smartphone in China. It appears that it won’t be the only Honor phone that will go official today. Through Weibo, the Chinese firm has confirmed that it will be unleashing the Honor Play 3 series today at 7 PM (local time) in China.

Honor has not released any details on the Honor Play 3 series. However, the rumor mill is speculating that one of the phones in the new series could be Honor Play 3i phone. The series could also include a successor for the Kirin 970 Honor Play gaming-centric smartphone. However, there is no information available on the smartphone yet. Coming back to Honor Play 3i, it could be the ASK-AL00x / TL00x phone that was spotted with full specifications on TENAA.

It indicates that the Chinese firm could be planning to debut the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) in China in the near future. The smartphone could be arriving in the home market with a different name. Probably, it could be called Enjoy 10.

The STK-AL00 / TL00 TENAA listing reveals that it measures 163.5 x 77.3 x 8.8mm and it weighs 196.8 grams. The smartphone is equipped with a 6.59-inch display panel that carries support for full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. A TENAA listing of the POT-AL00 smartphone reveals that the company may soon debut a new 6 GB RAM edition for it with 128 GB onboard storage.

Before the launch of the Huawei Nova 5 series, the Nova 5 Pro was listed on Jingdong Mall with some specs and images. Also, the Nova 5i Pro was also listed with some images on the Chinese retailer site. However, when the company had launched the Nova 5 series on June 21, it only unveiled phones like Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5i. Since the company did not announce Nova 5i Pro, it appeared that the device does not exist. Reliable tipster Evan Blass has shared a schematic of the unreleased Nova5i Pro which not only suggests that it exists, but also reveals that it will be sporting a different design from what was seen on its JD.com listing.

The following image was found on the JD.com listing of the Nova 5i Pro. The handset features a wide notch, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a vertical dual camera setup with an LED flash. The design actually matches with the Nova 3iv smartphone from last year.

However, the image shared by Blass shows the Nova 5i Pro flaunting a unique appeal. The smartphone can be seen with the trendier punch-hole display design with a slightly thick chin. The rest of the bezels of the smartphone are slimmer. The recently announced Nova 5i also features a punch-hole display. The top edge of the Nova 5i Pro has an earpiece. A volume rocker and a power key are available on the right spine of the Nova 5i Pro. Its left edge seems to feature a slot for the SIM card tray.

The bottom edge of the Nova 5i Pro in the new schematic shows the presence of a USB port (probably, USB-C) and a 3.5mm audio jack. There is a square-shaped camera module on the upper half of the Nova 5i Pro’s rear shell. An LED flash is placed alongside it and a fingerprint placed below it.

The Nova 5i comes with 6.4-inch display, Kirin 710 chipset, 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, 16-megapixel quad camera, 16-megapixel selfie camera and 4,000mAh battery. If Nova 5i Pro truly exists, it will certainly arrive with better specs than the Nova 5i. Hopefully, more details of the phone may appear in the coming days.

Today, Honor had held a launch event in India to announce the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20i smartphones. Huawei’s sub-brand also announced the Honor Pad 5 tablet in the country. The tablet has arrived in the country in 10.1-inch and 8-inch editions.

Honor Pad 5 10.1 and 8-inch Specifications

The 10.1-inch and 8-inch display variants of the Honor Pad 5 carry support for full HD resolution.  The 10.1-inch model comes with eye protection modes. The older Kirin 659 fuels the 10.1-inch model whereas the Kirin 710 SoC is present under the hood of the 8-inch variant.

Both models come in 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage models. They are also equipped with microSD card slots for additional storage. The 10.1-inch model has EMUI 8.0 based Android Oreo OS onboard whereas the 8-inch variant is loaded with Android 9 Pie OS and Magic 2.0 UI. Both tablets come with kids mode. The Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro smartphones are equipped with some common features. Both devices feature full HD+ 6.26-inch IPS LCD panels with punch-hole design. The first sale of Honor 20i will start on June 18. Its color variants are Midnight Black, Gradient Blue and Gradient Red. The Honor 20 will be available for buying from June 25. It can be bought in colors such as Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue. The Chinese firm did not confirm the release date of Honor 20 Pro at the launch event. The renders revealed that the phone will be arriving with a punch-hole screen and quad rear cameras. The report had also carried the speculated specs of the phone. It had claimed that the internals of the phone were similar to the Huawei P20 Lite phone from last year. However, a fresh report from the same publications states that the phone will be arriving with some updated innards.

The previous report by the publication had claimed that the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 has a 5.84-inch screen. However, fresh information shared by the publication states that it will be arriving with a 6.4-inch IPS LCD panel with a punch-hole at its top-left corner. It will carry support for 1080 x 2310 pixels full HD+ resolution. The punch-hole on the display will be housing an f/2.2 aperture 16-megapixel selfie camera.

The Kirin 710 chipset will be powering the phone with 4 GB of RAM. It will be coming with a native storage of 128 GB. There is a possibility that the phone could be available in 64 GB option as well.

The back panel of the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 has a quad camera setup that includes an f/1.8 aperture 24-megapixel primary lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens and a pair of 2-megapixel sensors for depth effects and macro shots. The smartphone will come loaded with Android 9 Pie OS customized with EMUI 9.1 skin will come preloaded on the device.

In July 2018, Huawei had announced the Kirin 970 SoC powered Nova 3 smartphone and Nova 3i phone fueled by Kirin 659 chipset. Now, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved the Nova 5 and Nova 5i smartphones. The EEC listing has also revealed the model numbers of these phones. At the same time, the GLK-AL00 and  GLK-TL00 Chinese variants of the Nova 5i have been spotted on the database of the 3C authority of China.

According to EEC certification, the Nova 5 has a model number of SEA-LX1 whereas the Nova 5i has a model number of GLK-LX1U. The EEC approval of these smartphones hasn’t revealed any information on their specifications. The 3C listing of the Nova 5i reveals that it may come with a 10W charger. This suggests that the Nova 5i could be a mid-range phone with Kirin 710 and it may lack support for fast charging. Nothing else is known about the Nova 5i smartphone.

Recently, XDA’s Mishaal Rahman had revealed some details of the upcoming Kirin 980 SoC powered phones from the company. He had revealed that the SEA-AL10 and SEA-TL10 that are nothing but Chinese editions of the Nova 5 will be arriving with a full HD+ AMOLED display of 6.39 inches. In December 2018, Huawei had released the Nova 4 as its first smartphone with a punch-hole display. There is no confirmation on whether the upcoming Nova 5 will be also equipped with the same display design.

The Huawei Nova 5 could be arriving with a Sony IMX576 25-megapixel selfie camera. It is expected to come packed with a 3,500mAh battery. The rear shell of the phone could be featuring a triple camera system that may include a Sony IMX380 12.3-megapixel lens, a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel lens and a Sony IMX316 ToF sensor.

The case images of the Nova 5 smartphone were leaked recently. The images had revealed that the case does not feature a cutout for a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Considering the fact that the phone is coming with an AMOLED display, it could be featuring an in-screen fingerprint reader. Few hours ago, the Dutch-based MobielKopen publication had shared the leaked renders and specifications of the upcoming Huawei P Smart Z smartphone. What’s interesting about this phone is that it is the company’s first phone to features a notch-less display as well as a pop-up selfie camera. Now, reliable tipster and industry expert Evan Blass has shared high-resolution official render of the same phone to give a clearer of its design.

The new render shows that there are three attractive things about the design of the Huawei P Smart Z. First, it features a large-sized display without a notch. It allows the phone to offer a very high screen-to-body ratio. Second, it is equipped with a pop-up selfie camera. Lastly, the rear panel of the P Smart Z sports a two-tone design like the Google Pixel phones.

The first-generation Pixel phones had the fingerprint scanner placed in the upper shiny portion of the back panel. However, on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 series, the size of the shiny portion was reduced, and the fingerprint scanner was placed on the matte potion on the rear panel. The Huawei P Smart Z’s two-tone design is similar to the original Pixel series. A dual camera setup with LED flash and a fingerprint scanner is placed in the upper glossy portion whereas the matte portion is almost barren as it features only a Huawei logo at the bottom-left corner.
