Konka has unveiled its latest flagship television, the G9W Mini AI-LED Art Wallpaper TV, designed to deliver high-end visuals and immersive audio while maintaining an ultra-thin, wall-hugging form factor.

At just under 70mm thick, the G9W eliminates the bulk of traditional TVs with an all-in-one flat design that seamlessly integrates with the wall. Unlike most competitors that rely on external control boxes or rear “backpack” protrusions, Konka’s integrated mounting system ensures a clean, minimalist look. Whether turned on or off, the G9W is designed to complement modern interiors with a sleek, frameless aesthetic.

The G9W Mini AI-LED display packs 4K (3840×2160) resolution with high brightness, deep blacks, and vibrant colors. The 65-inch model features 392 local dimming zones, while the 75-inch version pushes that to 512, allowing for more precise light control. With support for 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and AI-powered real-time frame enhancement, the TV aims to deliver cinematic picture quality with lifelike details.

For smooth visuals, the G9W supports a 165Hz refresh rate and MEMC Pro motion compensation, reducing blur in fast-paced content like sports, action movies, and gaming. The TV also leverages AI-powered dynamic light tracking for enhanced contrast and depth.

Konka isn’t cutting corners on audio. The G9W comes equipped with a built-in 2.0-channel HiFi Soundbar featuring independent dual-chamber subwoofers. The system pumps out a peak power of 150W, ensuring powerful bass and crisp highs. DTS audio decoding further enhances the experience, bringing a theater-like atmosphere to home entertainment.

Under the hood, the G9W is powered by a quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Running on Konka’s Easy AI system, the TV offers an ad-free startup experience and a smartphone-like UI. The built-in AI voice assistant allows for natural voice commands and integrates with over 20 smart assistants for functions like learning, travel, and entertainment recommendations.

Connectivity is robust, with three HDMI 2.1 ports, USB-A 2.0 and 3.0, an RF input, an AV IN port, an audio output, and an RJ45 Ethernet port. Wireless streaming is supported via Wi-Fi 5, and users can cast screens wirelessly from Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac devices with minimal latency. The multi-screen mode allows content from different sources to be displayed simultaneously.

Despite its high-performance specs, the G9W maintains an energy-efficient Level 1 rating, with a maximum power consumption of 300W. It features an advanced cooling system with a ring-shaped airflow design and ultra-thin heat dissipation plates to keep temperatures in check.

Pricing and Availability

The TV will officially go on sale in China on February 17, with introductory prices of 4,799 yuan ($656) for the 75-inch model and 3,899 yuan ($533) for the 65-inch variant. With national subsidies applied, those prices drop to 3,839 yuan ($525) and 3,119 yuan ($426), respectively.

Konka has introduced its highly anticipated R7 series of Mini QD-LED TVs, available in sizes of 65, 75, and 85 inches. Let’s check out the specs.

Konka R7 series key features:

The R7 series features an innovative design centered around the MiniQD-LED dynamic backlight system and the Super LampAGLR Light-Control Screen. This advanced pairing enhances the viewing experience by improving native contrast, reducing screen glare, and utilizing Konka’s unique electronic control drive and eight-core high-drive system. Konka R7 series establishes impressive display standards with its 504-zone Mini LED and Quantum Dot film, delivering an exceptional 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The competition in the smartphone market continues at full speed. Although companies such as Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi lead the race, consumers are also open to trying out new brands, especially when it comes to affordable products. One of these brands Konka has recently released the X20 model, which is drawing attention due to its attractive price.

The Chinese company KONKA just released a budget smartphone the Konka X20. The phone has a very sleek and lightweight design, with a plastic back that weighs only 193g and measures 8.44mm in thickness. The front of the device features a waterdrop display, with a resolution of 1600X720 and a refresh rate of 60Hz, while the fingerprint sensor is located on the side of the phone. The back of the phone houses a dual camera setup, with the primary lens being larger.

The Konka X20 is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, which is based on a 7nm process and features two 2.2GHz A76 large cores and six 2.0GHz A55 small cores, as well as a Mali-G57 MC2 950MHz GPU. It is powered by a 4500mAh battery that supports 10W charging and is equipped with side fingerprint recognition.

One notable feature of the Konka X20 is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is becoming increasingly rare on modern smartphones. The Konka X20 runs on the Dido operating system, which is based on Android 11. In terms of camera, the Konka X20 is equipped with a 13MP rear dual camera and a 5MP front-facing selfie lens.

The Konka X20 is priced at 1399 yuan ($203) for the 4GB+128GB model and 1599 yuan ($231) for the 6GB+128GB model. Overall, it is a budget-friendly device that offers a solid set of features for its price point.

The 2020 Chongqing Micro-LED Industry Innovation Forum and Konka Semiconductor Display Technology and Product Launch Conference was held today in China. At the press conference, Li Hongtao, Vice President of Konka Group and Chairman of Chongqing Institute of Optoelectronics Technology, gave a speech and introduced the layout and achievements of Konka Group in the semiconductor industry. At the end of the conference, Konka released the world’s first Micro-LED watch.

According to details released by the company, the world’s first micro-LED watch uses a 2-inch microcrystalline screen with a glass substrate of only 0.12mm. The company says that its chip size is less than 30um, which is a true microLED product. In addition, its display driver uses the most advanced active low-temperature polysilicon semiconductor display technology, which has a very good display effect.

Furthermore, the screen of this watch can reach a maximum brightness of 1500nit, the color gamut can reach 147% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and the working temperature can reach-30 to 70 degrees, and the battery life can reach 35 days.

MicroLED uses self-emission backlight just like OLED panels, unlike the traditional LCD displays which require LED backlight modules to emit light through layers from behind to generate images.

Micro LED can achieve effects such as very high contrast, extremely deep blacks, and fast response time just like OLED. However, Micro LED has higher brightness and is more stable than OLED because of its inorganic nature.

A report from 2018 had revealed that Apple was working on using microLED for its smartwatch, AR device, and another unknown product. Although Konka didn’t reveal the manufacturer of the display used on its smartwatch, we suspect BOE. The Chinese display maker started mass producing its microLED panels last year.

Streaming has become the most popular way to consume content. Smart TVs and streaming devices play an important role in the rising popularity of OTT platforms. A recent report on TV and video streaming devices across 27 major countries by Strategy Analytics reveals that Samsung not only leads in streaming device market share in these regions but its operating system Tizen, a gateway to streaming services also top the chart.

Though this report was published on September 2, it is worth noting that it is for Q1 2020.

Streaming Devices

According to Strategy Analytics, Samsung was the leading streaming device brand in the first quarter of 2020 in 27 major countries with 14% of devices in use. Whereas, second and third positions were held by Sony and LG with 12% and 8% market share respectively.

Further, Hisense, TCL, and Amazon tied at fourth position with 5% market share each, followed by Nintendo and Microsoft at fifth position with 4%.

Interestingly, in sixth place with 3%, there were a total of seven brands such as Skyworth, Google, Vizio, Sharp, Roku, Philips, and Xiaomi. Also, with 2% in seventh place, there were four brands like Apple, Changhong, Panasonic, and Konka.

Whereas, the ninth position was captured by Haier, Toshiba, and Insignia with a 1% share. The remaining 9% was held by others category, which includes brands with negligible market share.

Streaming Platforms

Talking about streaming platforms, once again, Samsung lead in these 27 markets with 11% share with its Tizen OS. But the second position was held by platforms of both LG and Sony namely WebOS and Sony Playstation with 7% share each.

Roku TV OS and Fire OS tied at third position with 5% market share, followed by Android TV and Microsoft Xbox in the fourth place with 4% share.

Google Chromecast came at fifth position with 3% share while Apple tvOS and Firefox OS clashed with each other in the sixth place with 2% market share. The remaining 49% was occupied by platforms in the others category.

Takeaways

One thing is obvious from this report that the leading streaming device manufacturers also top the chart in streaming platforms if they have any. Also, a plethora of TV manufacturers gained some share in the devices category. Most of them use Android TV but still, Google’s streaming platform only accounted for 4%.

Anyway, this report only includes data from 27 major countries. Even though, the number of active devices in these regions is an astonishing figure at 1.14 billion.

Konka has recently entered the 4G age with their L series. The problem is that it’s only for the mid and low-end market. To target the mid and high-end market, they will soon release the F series, their first three-mode 4G cell phone.

The Konka F1 has a pretty sweet design. Having a curvy top-edge gives it a very individualist look. The arc-shaped back also makes it comfortable for the user when holding it. It’s a very slender phone with a thickness of about 7mm and is available in black and white.

Not only does the Konka F1 have an excellent design but its specs are better than the recently released L827. It sports a 5.5-inch HD display screen with 1280 x 720 resolution which is covered by Corning gorilla glass 2 and uses OGS. It also sports a 5mp front-facing camera and supports beauty enhancement and 8mp Sony rear-facing camera. It also has 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM and its operating system is the Android 4.3. It supports TD-LTE/TD-SCDMA/GSM internet and sports the usual sensory programs and a dual-microphone.

Given its trendy deign and standard specs, the F1’s cost should ibe in the mid and high-end range.

Konka has unveiled their newest smartphone, the Konka K11. The K11 has higher specifications than its predecessors and has a more interesting design.

If you look at the photo, the K11 has a 5-inch screen and has a length of 148.6mm and width of 73.6mm. The K11’s measurements are not that different from other phones with 5-inch screens. The phone’s slender body is worth noting. It is 7.55 thick. It also has a replaceable battery which is one of the phone’s selling points.

The K11 has a 5-inch HD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720. It uses OGS technology and runs on the quad-core MTK6582 chipset with a main frequency of 1.3GHz. It has a memory of 16GB which can be expanded and 1GB ROM. It also has a 2mP/8mP Sony dual-camera. Its operating system is the MUSE UI 3.0.

The Konka K11 hits stores soon although the price has not yet been officially announced.

Aliyun OS or better known as Ali Cloud OS in the English version is a Linux distribution platform designed for smartphones. The platform itself was developed by AliCloud which incidentally is one of the Alibaba Group subsidiary based in China.

In line with its development since the year 2011, these operating systems have drawn the attention of producers in China. Earlier today, six new devices running on Aliyun OS were unveiled in China. Zopo has two new devices and the rest are from G’Five, Konka, Amoi and Small Chili.

The first is a high end device Zopo Black, which is equipped by a 5-inch touch screen features with support for 1080p FHD resolution, MediaTek MT6589 processor Quad Core 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of ROM, 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera and 2000mAh battery. While the second is the existence intake Zopo White features 5-inch touch screen HD 720p, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and the rest is similar to Zopo Black.

The third device is G’Five Big 7 is equipped with a 5.7-inch 720p HD screen, quad-core processor 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6589 and 2500mAh battery. While the fourth and fifth, respectively Amoi Big Ka (which is equipped with 4.5 inch touch screen, quad-core processor MediaTek MT6589, 8MP rear camera and 3MP front camera) and Konka KOMI V1 (which has a display screen that is similar to Big Amoi Ka but with a Dual Core processor MediaTek MT6517T). And not only that, for the sixth named Small Chili M1Y also been supported by MSM8225Q Snapdragon processor.

All devices that have been mentioned just now apparently now been marketed in China with a price range between 899 RMB or around $140 USD to 1,999 RMB or around $323 USD per unit.
