<p>Lava is preparing to launch the Lava Agni 2 5G in the Indian market, where it will be facing stiff competition in the highly contested mid-range smartphone segment. The brand has announced that the official launch of the Agni 2 5G will take place on May 16 at 12 PM IST. Ahead of the launch, here&#8217;s a roundup of everything we know about the upcoming smartphone.</p>

<h2>Design &amp; display</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="894" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459-1024x894.jpeg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-536915" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459-1024x894.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459-300x262.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459-768x671.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459-1536x1342.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459-696x608.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459-1068x933.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459-481x420.jpeg 481w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwAYzfxWcAEgsbQ-e1684086304459.jpeg 1660w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Lava has officially confirmed the design of its upcoming Agni 2 5G smartphone in a recent teaser. The image confirms that the device has a circular camera module with five cutouts. Three of these are expected to host the camera sensors, while the remaining two will feature an LED flash module and an unknown sensor. The back of the device is curved along with the edges. Another teaser has confirmed that the smartphone will have a curved display, with thin top and bottom bezels. The exact details of this display are still a mystery, however, rumors say that it is a 120Hz AMOLED panel.</p>

<h2>Performance</h2>

<p>Surprisingly, Lava is stepping up its game in the performance segment as the device is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/02/lava-agni-2-5g-dimensity-7050-chipset/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">confirmed</a> to have a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/30/mediatek-launches-dimensity-7050-processor/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MediaTek Dimensity 7050</a> chipset under its hood. For those unaware, this is a rebrand of the Dimensity 1080 SoC that debuted in previous year&#8217;s mid-range smartphones.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0-1024x1024.jpeg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-536916" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0-1024x1024.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0-300x300.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0-150x150.jpeg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0-768x768.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0-696x696.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0-1068x1068.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0-420x420.jpeg 420w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FvrEPp-XoAAiJV0.jpeg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The chip has an octa-core CPU featuring 2 x 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 cores and 4 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 cores. The graphics are handled by Mali G68 MC4 GPU and there’s an AI processing unit for imaging and other stuff. It has 5G connectivity and it is made on the tried and tested TSMC 6nm node.</p>

<p>The Agni 2 5G has already appeared on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/01/lava-agni-2-5g-geekbench/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Geekbench</a> giving us a peak at its performance. The Dimensity 7050 powered phone scored 819 points on the single-core test and 2267 points on the multi-core test. These aren&#8217;t flagship-level scores by any means, however, the performance is plenty for a lower-mid-range device.</p>

<p>It will get up to 8GB RAM and an Android 13-based operating system. The onboard battery is said to have a 5,000mAh capacity, with 44W fast charging support.</p>

<h2>Cameras</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="799" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-1024x799.jpeg?x44794" alt="Lava" class="wp-image-536917" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-1024x799.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-300x234.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-768x599.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-1536x1198.jpeg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-696x543.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-1068x833.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-1920x1498.jpeg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226-538x420.jpeg 538w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FwEkZSyWcAIHXbS-e1684086578226.jpeg 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Lava Agni 2 5G will feature a 50MP primary camera with a 1/1.55” sensor, 1.0 µm pixels, and an f/1.88 aperture, accompanied by two other undisclosed cameras. Notably, the main camera will come equipped with OIS stabilization technology, enabling users to capture steady photos and videos even in shaky environments. Up front, we can expect a 16MP selfie snapper which is quite standard in this segment.</p>

<h2>Expected price</h2>

<p>With an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/07/lava-agni-2-india-price-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">anticipated price range</a> of Rs. 20,000-25,000, the Lava Agni 2 5G is set to compete against popular mid-range smartphones like the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G, Moto G82, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, and others. As Lava tries to regain its former glory in the Indian market, it remains to be seen if the brand can generate enough buzz and excitement among consumers in a market that is already saturated with a plethora of value-for-money options.</p>

<p>Both Realme and Redmi have confirmed to unveil budget models, while Oppo and Lava have revealed to take wraps off mid-range devices. On the other hand, HTC will release an upper mid-range phone with Viverse support.</p>

<p>Let’s check out these handsets one by one.</p>

<h2><strong>Upcoming Smartphones Next Week</strong></h2>

<div style="height:20px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Oppo F23 5G</strong></h3>

<p>The Oppo F23 5G is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/09/oppo-f23-5g-to-launch-in-india-on-may-15th-amazon-availability-confirmed/">set to launch</a> in India on May 15 (Monday). The device is said to cost ₹23,999 and will be available for purchase from May 18.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="Oppo" class="wp-image-536232" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Fv0YBtvakAEVI2f-e1683797793489.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Going by the teasers and leaks, the phone will be a rebranded Oppo A98 5G that recently went official in Malaysia. Thus, it should arrive with features, such as a 120Hz FHD+ display (LCD), Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 40x microlens camera, and 67W fast charging support.</p>

<p>Since there was no F21, the F23 can be regarded as the successor of the 4G-only F19 with an AMOLED display. However, the newer handset will cost as much as the F21 Pro released last year.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Lava Agni 2 5G</strong></h3>

<p>It will be one of the few handsets in the sub-₹25,000 price segment with a curved display. It will be powered by the newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset.</p>

<p>Interesingly, it will flaunt a circular camera island like premium smartphones and the back panel will be even made of glass.</p>

<h3><strong>Realme Narzo N53</strong></h3>

<p>The Realme Narzo N53 is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/11/realme-narzo-n53-indian-launch-date/">scheduled to launch</a> in India on May 18 (Thursday) at 12 PM IST. Not much is known about this product, except for its design.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="529" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-536258" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1-300x155.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1-768x397.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1-696x360.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Realme-Narzo-N53-1-1024x529-1-813x420.webp 813w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Realme</figcaption></figure>

<p>As per the official renders, the device will look like an iPhone Pro model. The brand claims that it will be its thinnest smartphone to date.</p>

<p>The handset is expected to come with a waterdrop notch and 33W fast charging support. Finally, it will be available in gold and black color options.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>HTC U23 Pro</strong></h3>

<p>The HTC U23 Pro <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/12/htc-u23-pro-to-launch-on-may-18/">will be unveiled</a> on May 18 (Thursday). It will be the first smartphone directly from the Taiwanese company after a long while.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-1024x683.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-534514" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-300x200.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-768x512.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-696x464.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-1068x712.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2-630x420.webp 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/HTC-U23-Pro-5G-real-life-photo-2.webp 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>But unfortunately, as per leaks, it could be an ODM product since it will sport a generic design mimicking Samsung&#8217;s Galaxy S Ultra lineup. The main highlights of the device will be support for HTC’s metaverse platform Viverse and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset.</p>

<p>Other expected features include a 108MP primary camera, a 120Hz centered punch-hole AMOLED display, a 4,500mAh battery, and wireless charging support.</p>

<div style="height:30px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Redmi A2 Series</strong></h3>

<p>The Redmi A2 series is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/12/redmi-a2-series-india-launch/">confirmed to launch</a> in India on May 19 (Friday) at 11 AM IST. Usually, Xiaomi events take place at 12 PM IST in the country but this one will begin an hour earlier.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="707" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-1024x707.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi A2" class="wp-image-525154" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-1024x707.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-300x207.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-768x531.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-696x481.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-1068x738.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-608x420.jpg 608w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Redmi-A2-1.jpg 1116w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Since the Redmi A2 lineup is already official in some markets, we know everything about it. Just like its predecessor, the series includes two models, namely Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 Plus. The latter has a fingerprint sensor, which is the only difference between them.</p>

<p>The phones offer an HD+ display, MediaTek Helio G36 chip, 8MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging support.</p>

<p>The Lava AGNI 2 5G will arrive as the successor to the last year’s AGNI 5G. As per teasers, it will pack significant upgrades over its predecessor.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Lava AGNI 2 5G is confirmed to come with a curved display and a slim profile. As per teasers, the back panel has a circular camera module housing a 50MP main sensor and two other lenses with LED flash. The device is seen in a Green colour option and we can expect more at launch.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Under the hood, the Lava AGNI 2 5G is confirmed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC making it the first device with the said chipset in India. Additionally, we could spot 8GB RAM and 256GB storage on the Amazon microsite.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The rest of the details of the Lava AGNI 2 5G remain under wraps for now. As per a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/14/lava-agni-2-5g-tipped-to-feature-120hz-amoled-display-under-rs-25000-price-tag/">past report</a>, the device is tipped to pack an AMOLED display panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is reportedly expected to be priced between the Rs 20,000 &#8211; 25,000 segment. If this indeed turns out to be true, then the Lava AGNI 2 5G will be the cheapest phone with a 120Hz curved AMOLED screen. </p>

<h3><strong>Lava Agni 2 5G to take on Redmi Note 12 Pro Series</strong></h3>

<p>According to <a href="https://www.indiatoday.in/technology/news/story/exclusive-lava-agni-2-coming-with-50mp-camera-120hz-amoled-display-for-around-rs-20000-2376266-2023-05-08"><em>India Today</em></a>, the upcoming Lava Agni 2 5G will sport a circular camera island, which goes in line with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/04/lava-agni-2-5g-back-panel-leaks/">recent live image leak</a> of the phone. There will be four cameras headed by a 50MP primary sensor.</p>

<p>The device is said to feature a glass panel on the rear. It will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, which the brand <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/02/lava-agni-2-5g-dimensity-7050-chipset/">had officially confirmed</a>. The report goes on to say that the Lava Agni 2 5G will be the first smartphone with the said chip in India.</p>

<p>We already know that the phone will be built around a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/14/lava-agni-2-5g-tipped-to-feature-120hz-amoled-display-under-rs-25000-price-tag/">120Hz AMOLED display</a>. The report further discloses that the screen will be curved on the edges.</p>

<p>Previous leaks claimed that the handset will be priced below ₹25,000. Interestingly, this report says that it will cost around ₹20,000.</p>

<p>Finally, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Lava/">Lava</a> Agni 2 5G is said to go official in mid-May. Going by the aforementioned details, the successor of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lava-agni-5g/">Lava Agni 5G</a> will compete against products from Chinese OEMs, especially the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-12-pro-2/">Redmi Note 12 Pro</a> series, in terms of specs as well as price.</p>

<h2>Lava Agni 2 5G back panel: another circular camera module</h2>

<p>Abhishek, a reliable source of leaks, has shared an image of the back panel of an upcoming Android smartphone, which suggests that the device will have a curved back design and a circular camera module. Until recently, boxy designs were all the rage for premium and mid-range devices. However, it seems that circular camera modules are becoming the new trend in the Android smartphone industry, with many recently released or upcoming devices sporting this style of camera setup. Notable examples include the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-x6/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Oppo Find X6</a> and the upcoming Realme 11 series.</p>

<p>That being said, the Lava Agni 2 5G is shaping up to be a decent mid-range device as it is confirmed to be powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/02/lava-agni-2-5g-dimensity-7050-chipset/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip</a>. It is said that this chip is a refreshed version of the Dimensity 1080 which is featured in devices like the Realme 10 series and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-12-pro-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Redmi Note 12 Pro</a>.</p>

<p>Other that that, there is also some additional information available on the Lava Agni 2 5G. As per a recent leak, the upcoming Lava Agni 2 5G smartphone is expected to have a price tag of less than ₹25,000. The device will boast a 120Hz AMOLED display, and will feature a 50MP primary camera with OIS support, alongside a 16MP front-facing camera. Running on the Android operating system, the phone will pack a powerful 5,000mAh battery, with fast charging support of up to 44W.</p>

<p>Indian smartphone brand <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Lava/">Lava</a> has officially revealed that it will be using the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip inside the upcoming Lava Agni 2 5G. Prior to the announcement, the brand had been already <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/21/lava-agni-2-5g-officially-teased-blaze-1x-5g-could-be-incoming/">teasing the arrival</a> of this phone.</p>

<p>According to a leak, the Agni 2 5G <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/14/lava-agni-2-5g-tipped-to-feature-120hz-amoled-display-under-rs-25000-price-tag/">will be priced</a> below ₹25,000. It will be built around a 120Hz AMOLED display.</p>

<p>The handset will sport an OIS-assisted 50 primary camera and a 16MP front-facing camera. It will boot Android and will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery. Finally, it will carry support for 44W charging.</p>

<p>Talking about the Dimensity 7050 SoC, it consists of an octa-core CPU featuring 2 x 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 cores and 4 x 2.0GHz Cortex-A55 cores. The graphics are handled by Mali G68 MC4 GPU and there’s an AI processing unit for imaging and other stuff.</p>

<p>The chip is built on TSMC’s 6nm fabrication process. Thus, it is power-efficient and supports dual 5G SIM along with VoNR.</p>

<p>The month of May will be as busy as April if not more in terms of smartphone launches. Only 3 events are officially confirmed so far. But there are multiple other expected conferences, the dates for which should be revealed in the coming days.</p>

<p>We are looking forward to new product releases from a whopping 12 brands. Apple and Samsung are the only major companies that might not debut new phones. Though the latter may introduce certain already announced handsets in newer markets.</p>

<p>These forthcoming devices will be spread across different price segments. Most of the phones on the list are being launched ahead of the 618 shopping festival in China, which annually occurs during mid to late June.</p>

<p>That does not mean there won’t be any global releases. In fact, we will be witnessing the debut of some of the most anticipated smartphones of 2023.</p>

<p>With that out of the way, let’s go through all the handouts that are about to launch in May.</p>

<h2><strong>Upcoming Smartphones in May 2023</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Poco F5 Series</strong></h3>

<p>The Poco F5 series <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/26/poco-f5-f5-pro-global-launch-date-announced-pro-model-wont-launch-in-india/">will be unveiled</a> on May 9 at 8 PM GMT+8. The lineup will include two devices, namely Poco F5 and Poco F5 Pro.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/POCO-F5-Pro-render-black-and-white-1024x576-1.png?x44794" alt="Poco" class="wp-image-533467" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/POCO-F5-Pro-render-black-and-white-1024x576-1.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/POCO-F5-Pro-render-black-and-white-1024x576-1-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/POCO-F5-Pro-render-black-and-white-1024x576-1-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/POCO-F5-Pro-render-black-and-white-1024x576-1-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/POCO-F5-Pro-render-black-and-white-1024x576-1-747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Poco F5 Pro</figcaption></figure>

<p>The standard and pro variants will be rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo and Redmi K60, respectively. They will be even sold in original Redmi colors instead of the usual Poco color schemes.</p>

<p>Just like the last Poco F Pro model (Poco F2 Pro), the Poco F5 Pro will not be sold in India. The vanilla F5 will come with 256GB as standard and is tipped to cost below ₹30,000 in India and $500 in other regions.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Realme 11 Series</strong></h3>

<p>The Realme 11 series is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/26/realme-11-series-launch-date-officially-confirmed-heres-what-known-so-far/">scheduled to launch</a> in China on May 10 at 4 PM GMT+8. The lineup is said to consist of three handsets, such as Realme 11, Realme 11 Pro, and Realme 11 Pro Plus.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/realme-11-Pro-Plus-teaser-1024x576-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Realme 11 Pro Plus" class="wp-image-533440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/realme-11-Pro-Plus-teaser-1024x576-1.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/realme-11-Pro-Plus-teaser-1024x576-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/realme-11-Pro-Plus-teaser-1024x576-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/realme-11-Pro-Plus-teaser-1024x576-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/realme-11-Pro-Plus-teaser-1024x576-1-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Realme 11 Pro Plus</figcaption></figure>

<p>However, the brand has been only teasing the ‘Pro+’ variant. This version will not only have a leather back but also an OIS-assisted 200MP main camera and a curved display. It will be powered by the newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset.</p>

<p>These phones are also tipped to release in India this month. But we don’t have a date for it so far.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Google Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a</strong></h3>

<p>The 2023 edition of Google I/O will begin on May 10. The search giant is expected to take wraps off the Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a during the opening keynote of its developer conference, which will begin at 10 AM PT.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="538" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Google-Pixel-Fold-1024x538.webp?x44794" alt="Google Pixel Fold" class="wp-image-533657" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Google-Pixel-Fold-1024x538.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Google-Pixel-Fold-300x158.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Google-Pixel-Fold-768x403.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Google-Pixel-Fold-696x365.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Google-Pixel-Fold-1068x561.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Google-Pixel-Fold-800x420.webp 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Google-Pixel-Fold.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Google Pixel Fold</figcaption></figure>

<p>The Pixel Fold will be the company’s first foldable smartphone. The water-resistant foldable <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/29/google-pixel-fold-surfaces-in-leaked-marketing-images-ahead-of-launch/">will feature</a> a 7.6-inch horizontal foldable display and a 5.8-inch external screen. It is said to cost around $1,700.</p>

<p>On the other hand, the Pixel 7a will be the seventh-gen affordable Pixel A series handset. It will <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/27/google-pixel-7a-spec-sheet-leaks/">offer several upgrades</a> over Pixel 6a, like a 90Hz display, Tensor G2 chip, and OIS-assisted 64MP primary camera, and more.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Sony Xperia 1 V</strong></h3>

<p>The Sony Xperia 1 V is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/27/sony-xperia-1-v-to-launch-in-japan-on-may-11/">set to launch</a> on May 11 at 6 AM CEST. Unfortunately, not much is known about this upcoming flagship phone from the Japanese electronics giant.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="581" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina-1024x581.png?x44794" alt="Sony Xperia 1 V" class="wp-image-514869" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina-1024x581.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina-300x170.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina-768x436.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina-1536x872.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina-696x395.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina-1068x606.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina-740x420.png 740w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Sony-Xperia-1V-1-Gizmochina.png 1623w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Sony Xperia 1 V</figcaption></figure>

<p>Rumors say that it will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, a 4K 120Hz OLED display, a 12MP (wide) + 12MP (periscope) + 48MP (ultra-wide) triple camera system, a shutter button, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 5,000mAh battery.</p>

<p>The device may or may not be accompanied by Xperia 5 V and Xperia 10 V.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3><strong>Motorola Razr 2023 Series and Edge 40</strong></h3>

<p>Lenovo-owned Motorola is expected to unveil its new generation Razr clamshell foldables and an Edge series flagship smartphone either by the end of May or early June.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="871" height="492" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Moto-Razr-40-Ultra.png?x44794" alt="Motorola Razr 40 Ultra" class="wp-image-533278" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Moto-Razr-40-Ultra.png 871w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Moto-Razr-40-Ultra-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Moto-Razr-40-Ultra-768x434.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Moto-Razr-40-Ultra-696x393.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Moto-Razr-40-Ultra-744x420.png 744w" sizes="(max-width: 871px) 100vw, 871px" /><figcaption>Motorola Razr 40 Ultra</figcaption></figure>

<p>For the first time, the revived Razr lineup will have two models in a single generation. They are said to be called Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra. The latter will have the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/28/motorola-razr-40-ultras-latest-leak-reveals-cover-foldable-display-sizes-main-camera-new-marketing-images/">largest cover screen</a> on a clamshell foldable handset to date.</p>

<p>Whereas, the Edge 40 will be a toned-down version of Edge 40 Pro with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/01/motorola-edge-40-promo-video-leaks/">some interesting features</a>. It will come with a leather back, water resistance, a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chip, a 144Hz OLED display, a 50MP primary camera, a 4,400mAh battery, 68W wired charging, and 15W wireless charging.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>Lava President has teased the arrival of the Agni 2 5G. As per reports, the company could be planning to launch it in May. <p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/?s=lava+">Lava</a> is reportedly working on Agni 2 5G smartphone. Earlier in February this year, the phone’s key specifications and launch timeline were <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/14/lava-agni-2-5g-key-specs-launch-timeline-surface-online/">tipped</a>. It had also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/03/01/lava-agni-2-5g-geekbench/">appeared on Geekbench</a> benchmarking platform last month. Now, new information about the upcoming smartphone has surfaced online. The Agni 2 5G is expected to arrive as the successor to last year’s Agni 5G. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="960" height="540" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Lava-agni-5g.jpg?x44794" alt="Lava agni 5g" class="wp-image-491271" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Lava-agni-5g.jpg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Lava-agni-5g-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Lava-agni-5g-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Lava-agni-5g-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Lava-agni-5g-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></figure>

<p>As per a <a href="https://twitter.com/ZionsAnvin/status/1646846572771115010">Twitter user</a>, the Lava Agni 2 5G will feature an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is tipped to launch sometime in May and carry a sub-Rs 25,000 price tag, If this indeed turns out to be true, then a phone with a 120Hz AMOLED screen in the mentioned price segment will be a great deal.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The latest information is also contrasting with a previous report saying that the Agni 2 5G will come with a 6.5-inch LCD screen bearing an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. </p>

<p>Apart from the new information, the Lava Agni 2 5G will reportedly be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor as per Geekbench. It will pack 8GB RAM and we can expect more options at launch. The device will run on Android 13 OS out of the box. The upcoming offering is tipped to be backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 44W fast charging. On the imaging front, the Lava Agni 5G is expected to feature a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP OIS-enabled primary sensor and a 16MP front-facing selfie snapper. </p>

<p>A few days back, a leak <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/02/14/lava-agni-2-5g-key-specs-launch-timeline-surface-online/">revealed</a> almost all the important details of this upcoming device, which is said to be called Lava Agni 2 5G. Now, this phone seems to have made its appearance on a benchmarking platform.</p>

<p>According to Paras Guglani (@passionategeekz), a new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Lava/">Lava</a> smartphone with model number LXX504 has <a href="https://twitter.com/passionategeekz/status/1630786078239064065">arrived</a> on Geekbench. He says that this device is likely the forthcoming Lava Agni 2 5G.</p>

<p>As per the listing, the handset will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset paired with 8GB RAM. Further, it will boot <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-13/">Android 13</a>.</p>

<p>The chip detail matches the earlier leak. However, this is the first time we are hearing about the software, and thankfully, the phone will ship with the latest version of Android.</p>
