While we wait for the launch of LeEco’s Le 2s which is said to be on the 7th of September, an executive of the company, Feng Xing Yue has posted on weibo details of what to expect when the phone arrives.

Mr. Xing Yue’s post which is focused on the design of the upcoming phone, talks about how the metallic feel and texture of phones that are termed all-metal have been lost during production processes or how phones that have frosted or sprayed plastic feel like they are going to break. He says all those issues have been addressed on the Le 2s. To put it in simple words, the design of the Le 2s is said to be a breakthrough and will be different from what we are used to. It will look good and feel good when you hold it. We sure want to see this new design and hope it lives up to the hype.

Another detail we got from the post is the name of the phone. Weibo usually reveals the name of the phone a post was made with, much like when Facebook started and you would see the brand of phone used to make a post. The phone used to post is a Le 2s Pro. While it is possible that it is the same phone we’ve been calling the Le 2s, let’s not rule out the possibility of the 2s having a pro version.

The LeEco Le 2s Pro is said to come with a Full HD display with a border-less design, either a Snapdragon 820 or 821 SoC (as we’ve seen proof of both), 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built in storage, a 16MP rear camera, and an 8MP front facing camera.

The upcoming LeEco Le 2s smartphone has again featured in a new leak online. This time around the leaked images were those of the back cover of the device in pure black.

The leaked images shows the Le 2s in all black design said to be made of metal all round. The back casing also shows the openings for the main camera sensor fused with that for the LED flash sitting and there is another opening for the fingerprint sensor which would be located just underneath the rear camera.

The LeEco Le 2S was earlier rumored to feature a loop antenna design, with a render of the device sporting same getting exposed on XDA Forum. Even in an all black coating, the antenna band is still very visible running across the bottom edge of the back casing just as seen on the XDA Forum leak.

LeEco’s next flagship, spotted on GFXBench with model number X720 is rumored to have a September 7th launch date. If that turns out to be true, it would put to rest the stunning rumors we have been getting regarding the device sporting a monstrous 8GB RAM and having a version with Qualcomm’s latest yet-to-be-featured Snapdragon 821 chipset. We wouldn’t know the entire truth until the device pops.

One accessory which affects the size and weight of smartphones is the battery. Usually, smartphones with large batteries often weighs more and are thicker than those with moderate to small battery capacity and unfortunately smartphone makers haven’t been able to give us phones with massive capacity battery but thin and light weight.

LeEco has however hinted at the possibility of them having the solution to the snag and we’ll see that when it launches its expected Le 2s. The LeEco Le 2s which is said to cram a massive battery (most likely 5000mAh) with a thin battery design, according to a Weibo post by Feng Xing who is the President of Mobile business at LeEco. Mr Xing disclosed that LeEco has got the answer to the question of how to produce flagships with large batteries without it affecting the size and weight of the device. A solution, which he thinks others haven’t got.

There’s a good reason why we think he’s talking about the Le 2S. If you have been a regular reader of gizmochina, you would know that Weibo often reveals the device used to submit the post. In this case, the model is unknown as it’s just shown as LeEco phone, which should be a good indication that this is being posted using an unannounced model, most likely Le 2S.

The LeEco Le 2s will be an upgraded version of the LeEco Le 2 which was released in April. The Le 2s is said to come with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of built-in storage and 5000mAh battery. The smartphone is also rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset which could be the SD820 or latest SD821 variant.The Le 2s is also said to have two versions, one with dual camera set up at the back and a second version with single camera.

Rumour has it that the LeEco Le 2 flagship will likely be launched on September 9.

A LeEco phone said to be the Le 2S with model number X720 was spotted on GFXBench with some interesting specifications. The phone has a 5.5” Full HD  screen, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and a Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.3GHz. While we are not surprised about the screen size, the other specs invalidated the rumors of it coming with 8GB of RAM (or 6GB), 64GB of ROM, and the newer Snapdragon 821 chip.

Other details revealed include an 8MP front camera (should be great for Google’s Duo), a 16MP rear camera (can’t tell if it’ll be dual) that can shoot 4K videos, a fingerprint scanner, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, NFC, and USB Type-C. The Le 2S will also have Quick Charge 3.0 support. The specs also show that it has only one SIM card slot.

This phone won’t have a 3.5mm audio jack, if you want a phone that has that, you should check out their Cool1 phone launched yesterday, it has a 4GB RAM version that comes with 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage, but you’ll have to settle for the slower Snapdragon 652 SoC.

The LeEco X720 has also been certified by the CCC (China Compulsory Certification), so we hope the September 9 date holds. If you remember the X720 model was also spotted on AnTuTu back in June with Snapdragon 821. You can read more about it from here.

September 7 is going to be a big day for many manufacturers. Sony is going to launch the Play Station 4 Neo on that day (expect another string of Xbox Vs PlayStation arguments online), which is the same day for Apple’s fall conference. Today we also have news that LeEco is planning to release an upgraded version of the LeEco Le 2 called the Le 2S. If you recall, they did something similar with the LeEco Le 1s and Le 1s Eco which are nearly identical save for the clock speeds which is higher in the Le 1s Eco.

The Le 2S is said to launch with a Qualcomm snapdragon processor (there’s no confirmation yet if it will be the newer 821). Hope you still remember, the original version of the Le 2 has 2 versions: a Helio X20 model and a Snapdragon 652 version released in India.

The Le 2s is further said to come with 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, with dual camera and single camera versions.

We’ve also learnt that an image of what was said to be the front of the Cool1 which surfaced recently is actually the Le 2S. The image above is said to be the Le 2S but we can’t be sure until we get more details about the device.

Meanwhile, LeEco and Coolpad branded smartphone, the Cool1 will most likely launch on August 16. The specs are said to be pretty good (dual cameras confirmed), and you can read more about the Cool1 from here.
