Lenovo has confirmed that the Legion 2 Pro smartphone will be sporting a massive 6.92-inch display. In comparison, the original Legion Pro from last year featured a smaller 6.55-inch AMOLED display. While the company has increased the screen size, the refresh rate remains at 144Hz like the predecessor model.

Lenovo China Mobile Business Department General Manager Chen Jin confirmed that the device is equipped with a Samsung AMOLED E4 display and it offers a notch-less design. He added that Legion 2 Pro has a fully symmetrical screen, which offers the fastest refresh rate and lowest latency in the industry.

Today, the company released a confirmation through Weibo that it will be announcing the Legion 2 Pro on April 8 in China.

Apart from revealing the launch date, the new poster does not reveal anything on the specifications of the Legion 2 Pro. It is speculated that the Lenovo phone with the L70081 model number that recently appeared in the database of China’s 3C certification site could be the forthcoming Legion 2 Pro gaming smartphone.

The 3C listing suggested that the device may arrive with a 65W fast charger. The predecessor Lenovo Legion Pro featured dual USB-C ports and allows users to connect a pair of 45W chargers. This made it possible for the phone to support 90W charging. Hence, there is a possibility that if the Legion 2 Pro features a pair of USB-C ports, it may offer up to 110W charging speeds by connecting two 65W chargers.

The Geekbench appearance of the Lenovo Legion 2 Pro revealed that it is powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform and 16 GB of RAM. it was found to be running on Android 11 OS. Also, it was confirmed by the company last month that the smartphone will be equipped with a dual-turbo cooling fan.

The original Legion Pro was designed to offer the comfort and convenience of playing games by holding it horizontally. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Legion 2 Pro will continue to focus on a horizontal gaming experience. He added that it will be equipped with a high refresh rate OLED panel but did not mention whether it will support 144Hz or a higher refresh rate. There is a possibility that the Legion 2 Pro may feature a side-mounted pop-up camera like the predecessor model.

The teaser revealed that the handset will come equipped with a dual turbo cooling system for heat dissipation. A new Lenovo smartphone with model number L70081 powered by a flagship chipset has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform (via. Abhishek Yadav). It seems that the L70081 could be the next-generation gaming smartphone from Lenovo. It is yet to be confirmed whether it will be launching as the Legion Pro 2 or Legion 2 Pro.

The Lenovo L70081’s Geekbench listing shows that it is driven by the “lahaina’ codenamed Qualcomm chipset that has a base frequency of 1.80GHz. The codename is associated with the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform.

The SD888 chip is coupled with 16GB of RAM. The device is preinstalled with Android 11 OS. In the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the handset scored 1130 and 3779 points, respectively.

At present, there is no information available on the other specs of the Legion Pro 2. Since it has appeared on Geekbench, it seems that the Chinese firm could be internally testing the performance of the device. Probably, it could be planning to launch its next gaming phone in Q2 this year.

The Lenovo Legion 2 Pro will be succeeding the Legion Pro (aka. Legion Duel in China) smartphone. The predecessor model offered specs like a 6.55-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 865 mobile platform, up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The rear shell of the device was fitted with a 64-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens. It was equipped with other specs like dual USB-C ports and an in-screen fingerprint reader.

Looking at the social media post, the company highlighted the smartphones “Double adjustable fan turbo cooling system.” In other words, the device will arrive with dual turbo cooling system as its primary heat dissipation mechanism. The image poster also states that “A new storm has appeared, you can crush everything” on the bottom. Unfortunately, finer details regarding the device is currently unknown, but it is confirmed to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC under the hood.

While the company has teased the device in the past, it has yet to officially reveal an actual launch date. At the moment, the gaming smartphone is just confirmed to launch sometime in ‘Spring’ this year.
