If you are looking to grab your first Chromebook without breaking the bank, the Lenovo Duet Chromebook is your best bet. The tablet has received several positive reviews for its value for money. Now, Lenovo has a new accessory for it that makes the tablet even more useful.

The Chromebook tablet ships with a keyboard included in the box, so you can get some work done. If you usually use a stylus such as for notetaking, graphic design, or drawing, then the new Lenovo USI Pen is a necessary purchase.

Lenovo says the stylus has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity for natural writing, fine art, or graphic design. The stylus which weighs about 14 grams and is about 137 millimeters will last up to 150 days if you use it for just 2 hours a day. Unfortunately, it is not rechargeable as it uses an AAAA battery.

The stylus uses the USI (Universal Stylus Initiative) standard which Google is pushing to be available on Chromebooks that support stylus input. With the USI standard, you can use the Lenovo USI Pen on any device that supports the standard. So if you buy Lenovo’s stylus and eventually ditch the Chromebook Duet, you can still hold on to your stylus and use it with other compatible devices.

The Lenovo USI Pen is available on Lenovo.com for $39.99. It is cheaper than HP‘s own USI Pen which is usually out of stock but has a rechargeable battery.

The device is a detachable Chromebook that comes with a keyboard base in the box. The 10.1-inch tablet has a Full HD display with 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution, a single USB-C port, and runs on top of Google’s Chrome OS with “up to” eight years of updates.

It also comes with an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel snapper up front for video calling. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 7,180mAh battery. To keep the pricing lower, the company has ditched the Intel chipset in favor of MediaTek Helio P60T octa-core processor.

As for the battery life, the company says that the Chromebook Duet can last up to 10 hours on a single charge. The base model costing $279 packs 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. However, it seems that only the 128GB storage model has been listed online for purchase, which costs $299.
