Lenovo has started teasing the Tab P11 Plus tablet on its website in India. The slate has also been listed on Amazon India, both indicating that the company will likely release the device for the Indian market. This is coming a little over a year after the tablet was released for the US and European markets.

The release date of the Tab P11 Plus in India as well as pricing are pending at this time. The Lenovo Tab P11 Plus packs an 11-inch 2K display, solid speakers, and a 7,700mAh battery. It offers significant upgrades from the Tab P11. A major improvement from its predecessor is the new processor. The tablet packs the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset with 6GB of RAM. The Tab P11 Plus runs on Android 11 with Google Kids Space. It has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. It also features Dolby Atmos with its quad-speaker setup. The 7,700mAh battery of the Lenovo Tab P11 Plus offers up to 12 hours of use.

The Lenovo Tab P11 has an aluminum-alloy chassis and its LCD screen has 400 nits of brightness. The tablet has TUV certification and an eye-care mode. A Mali-G76 MC4 GPU pairs with the MediaTek Helio chip on the Tab P11 Plus. There are 4GB and 6GB RAM options while the storage options are 64GB and 128GB. A Nano-SIM slot is available for the Tab P11 Plus, as well as a microSD card slot. The charging speed for the Tab P11 Plus is 20W. The Lenovo Keyboard Pack and Lenovo Precision Pen are some of the accessories for the tablet. The accessories are, however, sold separately.

Full pricing details for the models in the Tab P11 Plus in India are not yet available. However, the 6GB/128GB model is priced at Rs. 25,999 (~$329). With its listing on Amazon India, we expect to see the Lenovo Tab P11 Plus anytime soon.

The ThinkPad X1 Fold is the world’s first laptop with a foldable screen. It went on sale last year in the US and has now made its way to India 9 months later with a price tag that will surely turn away a lot of folks.

It has been reported that the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold will be sold in India for ₹3,29,000 which converts to about $4423. That is nearly double the $2499 price tag it carries stateside! If you don’t mind the price tag, here is what you get.

A 13.3-inch  OLED screen with a 2048 x 1536 resolution. An Intel Core i5-L16G7 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. There is a 50Wh battery and it supports 65W fast charging over USB-C.

For connectivity, you get two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1. Owners will be able to opt for an LTE version with a nano-SIM. The computer runs Windows 10 out of the box.

You can also pick up an optional Lenovo Fold Mini Keyboard which attaches magnetically to the X1 Fold but connects via Bluetooth. There is also the Lenovo Mod Pen, a stylus with tilt detection and customizable side buttons for taking down notes and drawing.

The ThinkPad X1 will be available this fall but you can sign up to be notified on the official website.

Lenovo has launched its latest Cardio Plus HX03W smart band in India. The new smart band was only recently unveiled for the global market and it is priced at 1,999 Rupees (~$27) for the Indian market. This is lower than the prices slammed on the fitness tracker by third-party retailers who sell the band on Amazon India already. However, the smart band will officially go on sale on September 9 via Amazon India.

Lenovo Cardio Plus HX03W smart band comes with several features which makes it a great buy at that amount. It presents with multiple interface options and many health and fitness features. The wearable device comes with an IP68 waterproof and dustproof body which means it can stay in water of depth up to 1 metre. The smart band also comes with detachable straps with band light adjustment feature. The straps come in four cool colours namely; Black, Blue, Red, and Orange.

The Lenovo smart band itself features a 0.96-inch OLED full-screen display. It also houses a heart rate sensor and also fitness tracker, tracking key parameters such as steps, calories burnt, distance covered while running or walking and others. The band has a long standby time and the battery can be refuelled using the USB port.

The smart band is compatible with phones running Android 4.4 and higher as well as iOS 8.0 and above. It equally comes with several modes such as running mode, anti-sleep mode, long sitting alert and sedentary reminder features. All these features can be tracked using the Lenovo Life fitness app. The app has been revamped and now enables users to check daily activities. It also now includes features like dieting, shape training videos and private sports plans. It also has a real-time tracker that allows users to share activity result as well as timely correction of bugs. The app also allows users to share their sports data on Facebook and Twitter.

Barely a month after Lenovo took the wraps off its Tango-enabled Pahb2 Pro, the company has launched the smartphone in India. The Lenovo Phab2 Pro is now available in the US, Europe, China, and India. In India, the AR smartphone will be available exclusively on Flipkart and carries a price tag of 29,990 Rupees (around $440) which is way cheaper than the price it went up for in China.

The Phab2 Pro comes in as the world’s first use of Google’s Tango technology in a consumer device. It features a 6.4-inch IPS display with 2K (QHD) resolution. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor which is backed by 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB of internal storage. There is also a large 4050mAh battery onboard the device which has support for fast charging.

On the camera end which is the main highlight on the smartphone, the Project Tango-enabled Lenovo Phab2 Pro sports a 16MP  main camera at the rear, as well as Tango motion detection and position sensors. There is also a rear fingerprint sensor just under the cameras. Up front, the Phab2 Pro features an ample 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. The device also comes with a Dolby Audio Capture 5.1 with Dolby Atmos audio system onboard.

When it comes to the design of the phone, the K5 Note does not sport any exceptional looks that would differentiate it from other phones.

The device is well-built and it uses a metal backplate. However, the top and bottom parts, the buttons and the entire chassis are made of plastic, which is kind of a letdown considering the fact that even some super cheap phones use metal.

On the other hand, the Lenovo K5 Note comes with the LED notification light and backlit capacitive buttons that some of the cheaper phones lack.

We have a 5.5” 1080p display, which is great. The panel is sharp, bright and you can adjust the color temperature to your liking in the settings menu.

As for optics, we have a 13MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture and a single LED flash.

The fingerprint sensor works fine. It is fast, accurate and you can unlock the phone from the standby mode. Also, there are some other ways to use the fingerprint scanner, e.g. long press it and it works as a home button.

The loudspeaker quality is one of the best you can find on a $150 phone.

The quality of sound via the headset jack is one of the best in class and that is thanks to the built-in Hi-Fi audio chip.

Lenovo K5 Note ships with an octa-core Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 chip with the max. clock speeds of 1.8GHz, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

I’ve never been impressed with the Helio P10 chips when it comes to the 3D gaming and the K5 Note is no exception.

You can only play Asphalt 8 on medium graphics to avoid stutter and lag. On the other hand, games like Nova 3 and Modern Combat 5 run quite well.

Speaking of the day-to-day user interface performance, the phone is fast, fluid and I didn’t have any issues with it. I’m quite disappointed that the phone ships with the outdated Android 5.1 with the Lenovo’s skin on top of it. It’s is not a deal-breaker for a budget phone but there are plenty of cheap phones that already have the Android 6.0.

On the other hand, I like the Lenovo’s skin as there are quite a few features and customization options to play with. Just to name a few, you can quickly launch the camera straight from the standby mode, draw a letter C to trigger one-handed operation mode or use a few gesture controls that work great. You can also select from a variety of themes, change transition effects and so on.

Lenovo K5 Note Review: CAMERA

The pictures taken with the 13MP camera look quite nice. There is a good amount of detail and the colors look natural. However, the camera is inconsistent with the dynamic range adjustment and I got a few shots that were out of focus.

As for low-light image quality, $150 phones have never impressed me and the K5 Note is no exception. Well, the phone has one of the better cameras in its class but all the low-light images will look grainy and noisy.

The 1080p footage does not look horrible but it could be definitely better and look sharper. See a video review for a video sample.

An 8MP front-facing camera is actually pretty good and you can take some decent-looking selfies with it.

The K5 Note comes with a hybrid dual-SIM card tray, which can take either 2 SIMs or 1 SIM and the microSD card.

The call quality, signal reception, GPS, Wifi and all other connectivity options work just fine.

The phone ships with the 3500mAh battery that performs well. It will definitely get you through the day or even 2 days, depending on the usage.

On my usage, I could get over 5 hours of screen-on time, which is a good result.

Lenovo K5 Note Review: CONCLUSIONS

So, there you have it, a $150 Lenovo K5 Note. It is one of the best phones in this price range but it is definitely not perfect.

The phone sports a good build quality, nice and sharp display, user interface that has a lot of features, pretty good cameras, and Hi-Fi audio via the headset jack. Also, the K5 Note has an accurate fingerprint sensor, a good loudspeaker and some little features that some of the cheap phones lack – a notification LED light and backlit capacitive buttons.

On the other hand, the phone does not have a metal trim as it used plastic instead. It is a letdown considering the fact that even the cheapest phones use metal frames in its construction.

Although I enjoyed the user interface performance, the phone runs on the outdated Android 5.1. Finally, the Helio P10 chip is not the best option for you if you enjoy playing the latest 3D games.

At the end of the day, the Lenovo K5 Note is still a solid phone for the price and it definitely has more pros than cons.  However, you have to consider if the previously mentioned shortcomings are important to you or not.
