<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/lenovo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lenovo</a> is gearing up to launch the Xiaoxin Pro AI Ultrabook 2024, and it promises to be a powerhouse of performance. We heard about some <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/12/04/lenovo-xiaoxin-pro-ai-ultrabook-2024-laptop-unveiled/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">key specifications</a> of this device earlier last week, including the use of new Core Ultra CPUs. Another key feature confirmed today is the introduction of the improved &#8220;Fengshen Cooling System.&#8221;</p>

<h2>The cooling fans have achieved a noise level as low as 17dBA </h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="682" height="547" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-11-120747.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-589490" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-11-120747.png 682w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-11-120747-300x241.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-11-120747-524x420.png 524w" sizes="(max-width: 682px) 100vw, 682px" /><figcaption>Lenovo Xiaoxin Pro AI Ultrabook 2024</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The cooling system incorporates high-performance 3D composite heat pipes, ensuring superior thermal conductivity. To enhance efficiency, multi-dimensional air ducts are integrated, specifically targeting temperature reduction in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/12/09/lofree-flow-100-key-mechanical-keyboard-launched/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">keyboard</a> area. This approach to cooling promises performance improvement without compromising on user comfort.</p>

<p>A standout feature of the device is its ability to achieve a noise level as low as 17dBA. Although it was recorded at the minimum fan speed in energy-saving mode.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="565" height="531" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-11-095520.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-589491" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-11-095520.png 565w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-11-095520-300x282.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Screenshot-2023-12-11-095520-447x420.png 447w" sizes="(max-width: 565px) 100vw, 565px" /></figure></div>

<p>Lenovo introduces the Xiaoxin Pro AI Ultrabook 2024 as the first batch featuring the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/intel/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Intel</a> Core Ultra processors. Positioned to challenge the Core Ultra thin and light platform, this laptop boasts unparalleled performance, scalability, and battery life. Users can opt for a 32GB of memory, coupled with a 1TB SSD. Additionally, the notebook offers a reserved M.2 2280 slot, providing the potential for an expansive 5TB capacity.</p>

<p>Lenovo addresses the need for extended usage with an upgraded battery capacity of 84Wh, a significant boost from its predecessor&#8217;s 75Wh. It results in a local playback time of up to 23.2 hours and a regular usage simulation reaching 10.3 hours. The notebook supports 100W PD fast charging and Lenovo&#8217;s cutting-edge 140W ultra-fast charging. It comes with a 100W <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/gan-charger/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GaN adapter</a>, complete with a three-pin plug.</p>

<p>In summary, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pro AI Ultrabook 2024 integrates advanced cooling systems, powerful processors, and extended battery life.</p>

<p>Three buffer overflow vulnerabilities were found by researchers at the cybersecurity company ESET.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-470687" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1-1024x655.png?x10805" alt="Twitter ESET SS" width="696" height="445" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1-1024x655.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1-300x192.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1-768x492.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1-696x446.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1-1068x684.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1-656x420.png 656w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Screenshot-2-1.png 1256w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p>According to <a href="https://twitter.com/ESETresearch/status/1547166334651334657" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ESET&#8217;s tweet</a>, the flaws can be used to execute arbitrary code during the platform boot process, giving attackers the potential to control the OS execution flow and disable key crucial security mechanisms.</p>
<p>&#8220;Insufficient validation of the DataSize parameter given to the UEFI Runtime Services method GetVariable was the root cause of these vulnerabilities. A particularly constructed NVRAM variable might be created by an attacker, leading to a buffer overflow of the Data buffer in the second GetVariable call,&#8221; it continued.</p>
<p>Retbleed is a new speculative execution exploit affecting devices with Intel and AMD CPUs, and Lenovo has also warned users about it.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5i-gen-7-16-intel-features-3.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-456320" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5i-gen-7-16-intel-features-3.jpg?x10805" alt="lenovo-ideapad-flex-5i-gen-7-16-intel-features-3" width="577" height="445" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5i-gen-7-16-intel-features-3.jpg 577w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5i-gen-7-16-intel-features-3-300x231.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/lenovo-ideapad-flex-5i-gen-7-16-intel-features-3-545x420.jpg 545w" sizes="(max-width: 577px) 100vw, 577px" /></a></p>
<p>A couple of vulnerabilities affecting numerous products that use the XClarity Controller server management engine have also been addressed in an advisory from the company. These bugs could give authorized users the ability to disrupt services or establish unauthorized connections to internal ones.</p>
<p>Firmware flaws are a typical occurrence. Researchers have found vulnerabilities in third-party components used by numerous manufacturers, even though some of them are particular to the products of a single vendor.</p>
<p>For instance, the InsydeH2O UEFI firmware code is utilized by more than 25 vendors, such as HP, Lenovo, Fujitsu, Microsoft, Intel, Dell, Bull, and Siemens, and has recently been shown to include over two dozen vulnerabilities.</p>
<p>It may take some time until the remedies are adopted by manufacturers and reach millions of end users, even though Insyde Software, the company that makes InsydeH2O, patched the vulnerabilities as soon as Binarly contacted them. Customers have just lately been told about the existence of remedies for these problems by the manufacturer of the modular and upgradeable Framework laptops.</p>
<p>If you own a Lenovo laptop, go ahead and check if your device model is listed among the 70 affected models using this <strong><a href="https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product_security/LEN-91369" target="_blank" rel="noopener">link</a></strong>.</p>

This growth momentum has carried forward into 2021, with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lenovo</a> leading the PC market in terms of shipments in the second quarter of this year.</p>
<p>According to an <a href="https://www.idc.com/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS48069721" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>IDC</em> </a>report, worldwide shipments of PCs, including desktops, notebooks, and workstations, reached 83.6 million units in Q2 2021. This marks a notable 13.2 percent growth from the same period last year. The report adds that the elevated demand for PCs at the moment paired with the ongoing semiconductor shortage has also impacted the supply of notebooks. This, in turn, led to desktop PCs seeing a growth, which overtook laptops during this quarter.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-399044 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lenovo-duet-7i-3.png?x10805" alt="Lenovo Yoga Duet 7i" width="842" height="554" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lenovo-duet-7i-3.png 842w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lenovo-duet-7i-3-300x197.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lenovo-duet-7i-3-768x505.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lenovo-duet-7i-3-696x458.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/lenovo-duet-7i-3-638x420.png 638w" sizes="(max-width: 842px) 100vw, 842px" /></p>
<p>Jitesh Ubrani, a researcher at IDC stated that &#8220;The PC market&#8217;s hot streak continued to drive heavy investments from the supply side including the entry of new vendors as well as additional spend from underdogs. And while the top 5 continue to drive volume, the smaller vendors have helped drive growth by offering unique features or niche designs.&#8221; While the market did see a 13 percent annual growth rate, it is still far lower than the 55.9 percent growth back in Q1 2021 and 25.8 percent growth in Q4 2020.</p>
<p>Another IDC researcher Neha Mahajan added that &#8220;The market faces mixed signals as far as demand is concerned. With businesses opening back up, demand potential in the commercial segment appears promising. However, there are also early indicators of consumer demand slowing down as people shift spending priorities after nearly a year of aggressive PC buying.&#8221;</p>

<p>During Q2 2021, Lenovo led the PC market with a 23.9 percent market share, marking a 14.9 percent growth over the same period last year. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/hp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">HP</a> arrived second in the list with a 22.2 percent market share, while <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dell/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Dell</a> came third with a 16.7 percent market share. On the other hand, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/acer/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Acer</a> both came in fourth with a 7.4 percent and 7.3 percent market share respectively, while other vendors accounted for the rest of the figure.</p>

The company has a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/02/lenovo-legion-y7000p-flame-red-special-edition-launching-on-october-8/">wide range of premium</a> as well as budget laptop options in the market. So it&#8217;s natural that the company tests out a number of new features to improve the experience of its users. One such feature, currently being tested, is the &#8216;Ultra Quiet Mode&#8217;.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_302722" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-302722" style="width: 690px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ultra-quiet-mode-lenovo-laptop.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-302722" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ultra-quiet-mode-lenovo-laptop.jpg?x10805" alt="ultra quiet mode lenovo laptop" width="690" height="518" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ultra-quiet-mode-lenovo-laptop.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ultra-quiet-mode-lenovo-laptop-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ultra-quiet-mode-lenovo-laptop-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ultra-quiet-mode-lenovo-laptop-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/ultra-quiet-mode-lenovo-laptop-559x420.jpg 559w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-302722" class="wp-caption-text">ultra-quiet mode on a Lenovo laptop</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>According to a Chinese media website, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a> is testing a new &#8216;Ultra Quiet Mode&#8217; on some of its notebooks in China. This particular feature can be turned on via the laptop&#8217;s BIOS setup. Once switched on, the CPU fan will enter a dynamic mode where it will automatically switch to the Ultra Quiet Mode when the laptop is not under stress. It will go back to the normal mode when the CPU needs cooling.</p>
<p>Some people are naturally more sensitive to a laptop fan&#8217;s whining noise. For them, this feature can be really useful. Unfortunately, we have no word on when this &#8216;Ultra Quiet Mode&#8217; will be rolled out to Lenovo laptops in the market. Also, we don&#8217;t know whether this feature has any adverse effects on the laptop&#8217;s daily performance.</p>
