Lenovo has announced its plans to develop PCs that are based on the Android operating system. The shift away from the Windows OS for Lenovo may make an important milestone in the evolution of the Android OS. Lenovo is teaming up with Esper to retool its ThinkCentre M70a desktop PC. The ThinkCentre M70a is an all-in-one (AIO) PC that is expected to come out as one of the best in its segment.

The ThinkCentre M70a has a 21-inch touchscreen and is powered by the Intel Core processor (i3 to i9). While the M70a is currently running on Windows 11, the reimagined version will run on the Android OS. Android has a global appeal in the smartphone market but its evolution into the PC space could have extensive ramifications. The HP Chromebase AIO is the closest PC with integration with Android via ChromeOS.

The Lenovo ThinkCentre M70a with Android will extend its enterprise base to accommodate customers in retail and hospitality businesses. The Windows 11 version of the M70a is already available on the Lenovo website while the Android version is also expected to be released soon.

The ThinkCentre M70a starts at $889 currently and the price of the Android version should not be too different. The Android version could provide expanded dynamics and functionality to the ThinkCentre M70a. It has the potential to eliminate distractions and complexity to provide a more focused work tool for enhanced productivity.

Android seems to thump the Windows 11 user experience when used in customer-facing devices. Its simplicity may be a fundamental factor in the deployment of Android OS in PCs.
