At CES 2019, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/lenovo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Lenovo</a> showcased what was claimed to be the “<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/15/worlds-first-foldable-pc-and-motorola-razr-showcased-at-techworld-2019-in-china/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">world’s first foldable PC</a>.” The device showcased was merely a prototype but the Chinese giant is now set to release the product commercially, according to a teaser poster released recently. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold.gif?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-345231" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold.gif?x44794" alt="" width="560" height="322" /></a></p>
<p>Simply put, the ThinkPad X1 Fold is a full-featured notebook computer powered by an 11th-generation Core processor. The notebook packs a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with 2K resolution but it is only the size of a 16-open book. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold-2.gif?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-345233" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold-2.gif?x44794" alt="" width="639" height="512" /></a></p>
<p>The core secret of this design lies in Lenovo&#8217;s exclusive flexible technology, through which the screen foldable design is realized. The ThinkPad X1 Fold&#8217;s flexible OLED display screen is built by Lenovo and supplier LG in deep cooperation.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-345232" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="1002" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold-180x300.jpg 180w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Lenovo-ThinkPad-X1-Fold-251x420.jpg 251w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Lenovo and LG worked together to solve many technical problems in the four years it took to realise this technology. It deploys exclusive hinge technology and magnesium alloy-carbon fibre frame to realize a folding structure that is firm and flat after unfolding. The screen also feels like a traditional screen and meets durability test requirements.</p>
<p>We expect the pricing and availability details to be unveiled when it is officially released.</p>
