Yesterday, Lenovo announced five new laptops in China. The main highlight of these notebooks is that they run Microsoft Windows 11 out of the box. They are one of the few computers in the market with the latest version of Windows. Let’s take a look at two of these products in this article, namely Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14 Plus 2021 Core Edition and Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14 Plus 2021 Ryzen Edition.

Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 14 Plus 2021 Core Edition / Ryzen Edition Specifications and Features

As their names suggest, the new Lenovo laptops only differ in terms of processors. The Core Edition is powered by an Intel Core i5-1155G7 processor paired with NVIDIA GeForce MX450 GPU. On the other hand, the Ryzen Edition arrives in two variants featuring AMD Ryzen 5 5600U and AMD Ryzen 7 4800U processors.

Both Intel and AMD models come with 16GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB SSD as standard. Most importantly, they ship with Microsoft Windows 11. 

The notebooks sport a 14-inch LCD panel with a 2.2K resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a 100% sRGB color gamut. The anti-glare screen supports DC dimming and it is TÜV Rheinland-certified for low blue light emission.

Connectivity options on these computers include WiFi 6, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen (Type-A), 2 x USB Type-C, and HDMI. They also have an SD card reader.

Other features include a full-size backlit keyboard, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, Windows Hello facial authentication system, a 56.5Wh battery, and 65W USB PD fast charging.

Last but not least, these laptops flaunt a metal body, measure 15.9mm in thickness, and weigh 1.41kg.

Lenovo Xiaoxin notebook series also includes the Xiaoxin Air 14 Plus 2021 Ryzen Edition, and Xiaoxin Air 15 Ryzen Edition. The two models were launched alongside the Xiaoxin Pro 16 2021.

The Xiaoxin Air 14 Plus 2021 Ryzen Edition takes the barton from the Air 14 2021 Ryzen Edition. This model arrives with some improvements in the display which is bumped up from 1080 pixels to a 2.2K display resolution of 2240 x 1400 pixels. The display remains a 14-inch screen size. It adopts a slim metal body that is about 15.9mm thick and weighs about 1.41kg. The body also comes in a classic space gray color scheme.

The display utilizes a 16:10 aspect ratio with up to 300nit brightness, 100% sRGB high color gamut. The display also outputs hardware-level low blue light and supports DC dimming which effectively reduces eye fatigue.

The Xiaoxin Air 14 Plus 2021 Ryzen Edition utilizes an AMD Ryzen R5 5600U chipset with 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage. The chipset pairs with an NVIDIA GeForce MX450 GDDR6 GPU.

For interface, it features a USB-C port that can be deployed for data transmission, plugging in an external display and PD charging. There is equally a standard HDMI interface and a full-size SD card reader.  Keeping the lights on is a built-in 56.5Wh high-capacity battery, which can play 1080P videos offline for 13.7 hours, complete a 9.5-hour battery life benchmark test, and simulate about 10 hours of daily office work. The notebook also ships with a 65W adapter and supports PD fast charge.

The laptop starts at 4,999 yuan (~$769) and will be on sale on the brand’s official website and Jingdong (JD.com).

On the other hand, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Air 15 Ryzen version packs a bigger 15.6-inch display with a four-narrow-edge matte anti-glare screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The display also has a 100% sRGB high color gamut and supports DC dimming. In addition, the front camera is equipped with a physical privacy cover, which is very suitable for privacy-conscious users.

It is available in two models; one with a Ryzen 7 5700U processor paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB of Solid State Drive. This model is priced at 4599 yuan (~$708).

There is equally a version with AMD Ryzen 5 5500U SoC paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB of  SSD storage. It is slightly cheaper at 4199 yuan (~$646).

The notebook is also equipped with a full-featured USB Type-C port which can be used for data transmission, video output, PD charging.

In terms of battery life, the large-capacity 70Wh battery brings a battery life that can satisfy a whole working day. The local video playback is about 20.4 hours, the benchmark battery life test is about 15.4 hours, while for the daily office simulation, the battery reaches about 9.3 hours.
