LG over the weekend launched two new smartphones in India. The LG Q60 was unveiled alongside the LG G8s ThinQ. The Q60 was launched back in February alongside the K50 and K40 while the G8s ThinQ was first unveiled at MWC 2019.

The LG G8s ThinQ has the same design style as the more expensive flagship G8 ThinQ but the display notch on this model is wider than that of the G8 ThinQ. The device also comes with a trimmed down specs lineup as well as a lower price tag.

As for the specs, the G8s ThinQ packs a 6.21-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2248 pixels. The device is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with 6 GB of RAM. The device is available in 128GB of expandable storage. It equally packs a slightly bigger 3,550mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device along with LG UX skin.

On the camera end, the device packs a horizontally inclined triple camera setup. The main camera is a 12MP sensor, as well as a 13MP ultrawide-angle lens as well as a 12MP telephoto lens. For selfies, there is an 8MP camera at the front as well as a ToF Z Camera that brings support for Hand ID, Face unlock and air gestures on the device. There is a physical fingerprint scanner at the back panel.

The LG G8s ThinQ is available in just Black and retails for INR 36,990 ($524). It is already on sale across all retail outlets.

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 tech expo, LG had announced the LG G8 ThinQ, G8s ThinQ and LG V50 5G. Among these, the G8s ThinQ was the only device that wasn’t showcased at the tech expo. At the end of June, the LG G8s ThinQ was made official In Taiwan and now it is wider markets across the globe.

LG G8s ThinQ Specifications

The LG G8s ThinQ is an inferior version of the LG G8 ThinQ flagship phone. The 6.1-inch display of LG G8 ThinQ produces Quad HD+ resolution whereas the 6.21-inch display of the G8s ThinQ supports full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2248 pixels. Moreover, the display of the G8s ThinQ has a wider notch than the G8 phone.

Powering the G8s ThinQ is the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform along with 6 GB of RAM. It has a 3,550mAh battery that carries support for 18W fast charging. The G8’s battery is only 50mAh smaller in size. The smartphone features an internal storage of 128 GB and there is support for expandable storage through microSD card. The Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device along with LG UX skin.

Compared to the LG G8 ThinQ, the G8s ThinQ has a slightly different triple camera setup. It includes a main sensor of 12-megapixel, an ultrawide lens of 13-megapixel and a telephoto lens of 12-megapixel. The front notch has an 8-megapixel selfie camera coupled with ToF Z Camera that brings support for Hand ID, face unlock and air gestures on the device. The LG G8 ThinQ features the same selfie snappers, but its rear-mounted triple camera module has a 12-megapixel primary lens, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor. A fingerprint scanner is available on the backside of the smartphone.

The LG G8s ThinQ has color variants such as Mirror Black, Mirror Teal and Mirror White. The South Korean company is yet to confirm on the price tag of the G8s ThinQ smartphone. It will be made available in markets like Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and other regions in the near future.

The G8 ThinQ has different cameras and smaller display size and battery compared to the G8s ThinQ. However, both phones are packed with flagship specs. Here is all the information on their specifications, features and pricing.

The LG G8 ThinQ is fitted with a 6.1-inch OLED notched display that carries support for Quad HD+ resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels. It comes with a triple camera setup on its rear that includes a 12-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens and a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens. It is packed with a 3,500mAh battery.

On the other side, the G8s ThinQ includes a 6.2-inch OLED notched display that supports full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2248 pixels. It also features a triple camera module that includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens and a 13-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens. It features a slightly larger battery of 3,550mAh capacity.

The LG G8 ThinQ and G8s ThinQ phones are fueled by Snapdragon 855 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. Also, the display notch houses an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3D ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. The latter brings support on the G8 ThinQ and G8s ThinQ. These phones also carry support for Hand ID that can read thickness and characteristics of a user’s veins for unlocking.

Both phones are enabled Air Motion feature for air gestures. For making phone calls, users can wave a hand or pinch the air in front of the selfie camera setup. Other features on the G8 ThinQ and G8s ThinQ include gestures support for other functions such as reject calls, switch apps, capture screenshots and control volume.

LG G8 ThinQ and G8s ThinQ are packed with 4,000mAh batteries. Other features of these phones include IP68 and MIL-STD-810G grade chassis, 32-bit Quad DAC, stereo speakers and rear-mounted fingerprint scanners.

The South Korean tech giant did not confirm the prices of LG G8 ThinQ and G8s ThinQ smartphones. Also, the availability of these phones is yet to be confirmed. The company will be available in colors like Carmine Red, New Aurora Black and New Moroccan Blue.
