LG V30 owners rejoice as it appears that the six year old phone is officially receiving software support on the LineageOS platform. So now, one can move to the custom ROM and here are all the details.

The South Korea company had first launched the smartphone back in 2017 and its official software support ended a while back. Android manufacturers typically advise against using a device past its official support but now the device has been revived with the LineageOS support. For those unaware, LineageOS is a spiritual successor to the popular CyanogenMod, which was a major custom ROM from back in the day.

For those unaware, the LG V60 was the last edition in the company’s flagship V series of devices. So the V30 was also a premium grade device from its time and featured top notch specs and feature like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, which is more than enough to run LineageOS smoothly on the device. Furthermore, the device still is quite capable in daily use so LineageOS basicalyl breathes new life into the old phone.

As of right now, the LineageOS 20 is the latest edition of the custom ROM and is based on Android 13 operating system. Which is much newer than LG’s last update that only offered Android 9 OS from back in 2019. So for those interested, you can download the ROM straight from the catalog, although, make the update at your own discretion and be sure to backup your data and even follow the right steps.

I remember last year, just before the LG V40 ThinQ was launched, the device appeared on Geekbench. The benchmark result revealed the phone would run Android Oreo out of the box, and I was disappointed.

For a phone launching two months after Android Pie was released, it wasn’t acceptable for a flagship. Manufacturers like Huawei was also going to launch its own flagship around that period with Android Pie pre-installed.

Eight months after the release of Android Pie and six months after the release of the LG V40 ThinQ, LG is yet to update the device to Android Pie. Yesterday, the Korean company revealed the update schedule for the phone and other V series phones such as the V30, V30S ThinQ, and the V35 ThinQ.

According to the source, the four phones will get the Android Pie update by the end of June, ten months after Android Pie was released.

At the moment, the LG G7 One and the LG G7 ThinQ are the only two LG Phones that have been updated to Android Pie. The former got it first because it is an Android One phone.

Every year, since it launched the first Pixel phone, Google has shown us what it can do with a very good camera software and a single sensor. Thanks to developers, you don’t have to own a Pixel phone to be able to experience how good Google’s camera app is as the APK can be ported and modified to work on other devices. Some devices already have the ported version of the Pixel 3’s camera but a new one has been released that works on a number of LG phones.

The ported version brings the camera performance of the Pixel 3 including the popular Night Sight feature to a bunch of LG phones including the LG V20 thanks to XDA Senior member, cstark27. The APK works on the LG V20, LG V30, LG V35, and the LG G6. if you own the LG G7 ThinQ and the LG V40 ThinQ, you can also try it but it is said to be unstable. However, there is a chance a newer version that works well with the two phones will be released in the near future.

A recently-surfaced promotional render of the LG G7 ThinQ has shown us that the phone will have a power key located on the right side. But it will be the only physical key on the right. A new report has revealed the reason: on the left side, there will be another physical key. According to the report, this key will be used to start Google Assistant, and this highlights, even more, the focus of this handset on artificial intelligence in all its iterations.

Even though there will be a dedicated key for the virtual assistant, LG did not develop its own virtual assistant like Samsung did with its Bixby. Given that the power key will be placed on the right side, it seems that LG G7 ThinQ will not adopt a power key embedded into the fingerprint reader on the rear. But note that the fingerprint reader is still located at the back. What we hope is to see a programmable button embedded in the fingerprint reader, given that, according to reports, it will not be possible to assign other action to the physical button dedicated to Google Assistant.

Besides focusing on Google Assistant, LG G7 ThinQ will also provide smart features for the cameras, such as scene recognition. We already had a taste of them with the LG V30S and the recent update rolled out on the standard V30. According to the latest leak, LG G7 will come with a 6.1-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and the MLCD+ technology. On the hardware side, we expect to see an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor running at 2.9 GHz and paired with at least 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage expandable via micro SD.

The Korean company has just launched LG V30+ in a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Limited Edition in Japan. As the name suggests, the phone is a tribute to the famous manga JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Even though this is not a mainstream manga all around the world, Japanese people placed it in the top 10 of best mangas ever.

LG V30 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Limited Edition has been introduced in cooperation with NTT DoCoMo with the model number JOJO L-02K. It will be available to purchase in just 10,000 units via DoCoMo, and it will be only possible to buy it in Japan. The handset comes with a white back cover on which we can see a drawing dedicated to the manga, while the bezels on the front panel are black. Inside the software, there are wallpaper and themes inspired by JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, a JoJo manga editor app, and an augmented reality app.

The specs are exactly the same as the standard LG V30+ with the exception of the battery which is slightly smaller (3060 mAh vs 3300 mAh). So, we get a 6-inch P-OLED display with a QHD+ resolution. The SoC is an octa-core Snapdragon 835 supported by 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage expandable with a micro SD. The phone boasts the military certification and IP68 certification which makes it waterproof and dust-resistant. The rear side houses a dual camera setup with resolutions of 16 and 13 MP, while on the front side there is a 5 MP snapper. The price of LG V30 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Limited Edition in Japan is 125,000 Yen which roughly translates into €965.

LG technically hasn’t released a new phone this year. The LG V30S ThinQ/V30S+ ThinQ announced at MWC 2018 is the V30 and V30+ with more RAM and storage, AI features, improved camera software, and new colors. Today, the Korean electronics giant has announced a limited edition LG V30+ for Japan.

The limited edition V30+ is based on Japanese manga JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. It will come in an off-white shade with a logo on the rear fans of the manga should be familiar with. The front bezels are still black like on the other variants.

The phone will have custom themes based on the manga in addition to wallpapers, theme songs, a JoJo manga editor, and an AR camera app that lets you take pictures with characters from the manga.

The phone will have model number JOJO L-02K and will keep most of the specs of the regular LG V30+ that is – a snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 128GB ROM, and a 6” 2880 x 1440 display. However, it will come with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and a smaller 3,060mAh battery.

This year LG decided to launch an upgraded version of its V30 flagship at MWC 2018 instead of the LG G7, but the arrival of the main 2018 flagship from this company has been delayed. Now new concept renders of the G7 have just surfaced online, giving us an idea of how the design of the handset will be. The renders are not just a result of the imagination, but they are based on the most reliable leaks surfaced until now. Indeed, they have been conceptualised by the YouTube channel Science and Knowledge, who are popular for making renders based on leaks.

The first noticeable thing is the very high screen-to-body ratio of the device. On the upper part of the front, the camera and the earpiece have been enclosed into a notch, just like the iPhone X. The side bezels of the LG G7 are almost nonexistent, while there is a very narrow bezel at the bottom. Just like its predecessor, this device features a glass back and an aluminum frame, but we still do not know if it will have the military certification. Probably this will be a waterproof device. According to the renders, the rear side of the phone houses a dual camera setup in a vertical configuration, a laser autofocus, a flash LED and a fingerprint reader placed under the camera.

LG has announced that it will be launching the 2018 version of the LG V30 flagship phone at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The company has also announced that the phone will come with a suite of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies focusing on camera and voice recognition.

The South Korean company calls this Vision AI — which involves automatic image analysis for shooting mode recommendations, similar to what we saw in Huawei Mate 10, powered by Kirin 970 chipset. It will also recognize object and give shopping suggestions, similar to what Google did with Lens on the Pixel phones. Another feature will leverage the technology to offer better low-light performance.

In a statement, LG said that the Vision AI is the next-generation image recognition technology that is designed to analyze objects and recommend the best shooting mode from among eight preset modes, including portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset. It also considers the angle of view, color, reflections, back-lighting, and saturation levels by analyzing images from a database.

Unlike Samsung, LG is not attempting to come up with its own smart voice assistant. Instead, the company will be leaning on Google Assistant and will be offering some commands that are exclusive to LG phones. It already has about 23 such commands, and that list will grow to 32 this year.

Previous reports have claimed that LG would be launching an advanced version of the LG V30 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Fresh information reveals that the rumored smartphone would be launching with LG V30s moniker and it will be available for buying from early next month in South Korea.

LG is expected to announce the LG V30s smartphone at MWC 2018 on Feb. 26 at 11:30 AM. In South Korea, it is expected to be available through all the three major mobile operators such as SK Telecom, LG Uplus and KT Corporation. It is likely to carry a price tag of 1 million won (~$920). It is speculated that the LG V30s and Samsung Galaxy S9 will be hitting the South Korean market on the same date of March 9.

The LG V30 and V30+ models that were released last year respectively feature 64 GB and 128 GB internal storage. However, the upcoming LG V30s will be coming with 256 GB native storage. As far as the appearance of the smartphone is concerned, it will be identical to the LG V30. The rest of the specs of the LG V30s will be same as that of the V30. Hence, it will be coming with 6-inch FullVision OLED display with QHD+ resolution, Snapdragon 835 chipset, 16-megapixel dual rear cameras, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,300mAh battery.

What sets the LG V30s from V30 and V30+ is the inclusion of LG Lens function. In fact, the LG V30s will be the first smartphone from the company to feature it. It brings AI capabilities to the camera of the phone. It will function like the Bixby Vision on Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 phones and Google Lens on Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones.

If a user takes a photo of a product through the LG V30s with LG Lens enabled, it will be able to reveal details of that item available online. Once the image is recognized, it will be able to find similar products and other items with similar pricing. LG Lens will support bar-code recognition and QR code identification. It also includes support for foreign language translation. When a user takes a photo of English text using V30s LG Lens enabled camera, the text will be automatically translated in preferred language.

Through GPS, it will be able to calculate real-time location of the user and provide information on the surrounding places depending on the direction and angle of the camera. Augmented Reality will recommend users with fastest route for destination and it will also display information on popular restaurants.

Apple is known for adding “s” to the name of an iPhone when it is launched as an upgraded version of a flagship iPhone from the previous year. At MWC 2017, Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy Tab S3, while LG had announced the LG G6 and Huawei had debut the P10 series. Market experts are of the view that Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be the only major smartphones at MWC 2018 as other companies will want to avoid clashing of their flagship phones with the S9 duo.

Recent reports have revealed that the Galaxy S9 and S9 will be unveiled on Feb. 25 and it will be available in the home country in early March. The pre-orders of the Galaxy S9 duo are expected to start on March 1 and their shipments are likely to begin on March 16.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be retaining the Infinity Display design from their predecessor models. The Snapdragon 845 chipset will be powering both the S9 models. Some markets are expected to receive the Exynos 9810 chipset variants. Citing industry sources, a South Korean publication states that the company may announce an upgraded edition of the LG V30 with enhanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) capabilities at the Mobile World Congress (2018) on Feb. 26.

The rumor mill had predicted earlier that LG would be launching the LG G7 with Snapdragon 845 chipset at that MWC 2018. However, recent reports have claimed that the company is redeveloping the upcoming LG G series flagship from scratch after the LG CEO Jo Seong-jin said at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 that the company won’t be releasing smartphones to just because its competitors are doing so. Hence, the LG G7 is unlikely to debut at MWC 2018. Another report claims that the launch of the LG G7 could be delayed to March or April.

Even though LG won’t be showcasing the LG G7 in the next month, it will be holding a press conference on Feb. 26 to unveil the new edition of the LG V30 that is expected to launch as “V30+‘α’.” The publication claims that it will be coming with “new technologies and functions.”

LG V30 is actually the best and most recent flagship released by LG, but it has not been launched with the latest version of Google’s operating system. The device has been launched in the market with Android 7.1.2 Nougat, but now, just four months after the launch, the final update to Android 8.0 Oreo is rolling out. According to some reports from Korea, some units of the device identified with the code V3000S have already been updated: the version of the firmware is Android 8.0.0 v19c.

For now, it is just a local roll out, as the American and European units of the LG V30 still run Android v10c Nougat. There is just a report from the U.S. by a fan who received Android 8.0 Oreo on the unlocked version of the device. But this guy may have taken the firmware from some other source, we do not think it is an OTA update. Anyways, the final update to Android Oreo should be coming soon in Europe and U.S. According to the latest info, the US99819f firmware based on Android Oreo is already in testing.

At this moment we do not know the exact date on which the update will start hitting all the units of LG V30 globally. In the meantime, you can check if the update has hit your device by heading to the Settings menu. Just tap on Device info, then on Software updates, to check if it is available or not. The update to Android Oreo will bring many new features on the LG V30. Among the most important ones there is an advanced picture in picture mode which will allow users to reduce apps as small floating windows on the display, so they can use other apps at the same time. Since the past few years, LG has been launching G series smartphones in the first quarter of the year and it has been releasing the V series smartphones in third quarter of the year. In a bid to help its struggling smartphone business that has encountered losses in 11 straight quarters, LG has decided that it will not be setting a regular timeline for launching its smartphones.

On Wednesday, when LG Electronics Vice Chairman Cho Sung-jin was asked about the estimated launch time of the LG G7 during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, he responded by saying that the company won’t be announcing new phones just because rivaling companies are doing so and it will be launching new smartphones only when it is needed. It However, he added that the company will continue to launch more variants of the G series and V series smartphones.

LG has been doing well in home appliance business and other sectors, but it has met with very slow growth in the smartphone business. In 2017, it had released the LG G6 and LG V30 with full screen design, but most of its earnings did not come from its flagship smartphones, but from budget phones. Compared to 2016, LG was to reduce its losses in mobile business by 40 percent in 2017. Analyst are of the view that LG’s mobile business will suffer in this year too, but it will continue to reduce it losses.

Cho did not directly confirm that the company is changing the strategy towards mobile business because of the losses it has been facing. LG’s official blog, LG Newsroom, says the new variant is “designed for fashion-conscious smartphone users”. The phone will be officially unveiled at CES 2018 and will go on sale afterwards in South Korea and key markets in Europe and Asia. Sorry North America!

The Raspberry Rose LG V30 does look really nice and will surely stand out. It looks more like pink and has black bezels on the front.

LG will be not selling the LG V30 phone that features 64 GB of storage in India. Hence, the LG V30+ that has been launched in the country features a larger internal storage of 128 GB.

According to LG, the LG V30+ that has a thickness of 7.3mm and weight of 158 grams is the lightest 6-inch smartphone available in the market. The LG V10 and V20 smartphones that were respectively launched in 2015 and 2016 featured a secondary ticker screen. Since LG has switched to OLED panel on LG V30+ instead of LCD panel, the smartphone does not feature a secondary ticker screen. The purpose of the secondary screen is fulfilled by a new floating bar that gives access to frequently used apps, contacts, camera and notifications.

LG V30+ Specifications and Features

The 6-inch OLED display of the LG V30+ offers an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. The display of the phone also supports HDR10 and Always-on Display feature and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The Snapdragon 835 chipset that powers the LG phablet is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM. It includes a 3,300mAh battery that carries support for wireless charging. The hybrid dual SIM slot supports up to 2 TB microSD card. The back panel of the phone features a fingerprint reader.

The LG V30+ is equipped with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC. The audio performance on the LG V30+ is optimized by Bang & Olufsen Play. The LG phablet comes bundled with B&O Play earphones. It also features MQA audio codec for high-resolution audio streaming. It is running on Android 7.0 Nougat that is customized with LG’s UX 6.0 proprietary software.

For photography, it is equipped with a dual camera system that includes a f/1.6 aperture 16-megapixel lens and a wide-angle 13-megapixel lens. The dual rear cameras are equipped with features like laser autofocus, OIS, dual-LED flash and Gorilla Glass 4 protection. LG is all set to launch its flagship smartphone — LG V30+ in the Indian market. The company has now started sending out media invites for the launch event of LG V30+ smartphone.

The company is holding a launch event on 13th December at 11.30 AM IST in New Delhi, India. In terms of specifications, LG V30+ is almost similar to V30 in every aspect, except for the storage. While the LG V30 comes equipped with 64GB internal storage, the V30+ packs 128GB of internal UFS 2.1 storage.

The smartphone features a 6-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision display with a screen resolution of 1440 × 2880 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio and narrow bezels. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, coupled with Adreno 540 GPU and 4GB LPDDR4x RAM. It also comes with a microSD card slot, allowing users to expand storage capacity up to 2TB.

There is a 16-megapixel primary rear camera with f/1.6 aperture, Crystal Clear lens, Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS), EIS and Hybrid Auto Focus that combines both Laser Detection Auto Focus and Phase Detection Auto Focus. The LG G7 is the upcoming flagship smartphone from the South Korean company. Since it is speculated to debut in the first quarter of 2018, it is considered as one of the major rivals of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagships that are expected to get unveiled around the same time. DBS Designing has created a concept design of the LG G7 to reveal what to expect from it.

Like the LG G6 and LG V30, the concept model of the LG G7 also features a full screen design. The side bezels of the smartphone are very slim. Also, its upper and lower bezels are also very thin. It features a water-resistant body and retains the 3.5mm audio jack. In the concept video, the smartphone can be in multiple color choices.

According to the concept creator, the LG G7 features a 5.8-inch display that carries support for QHD+ resolution. It has an internal storage of 128 GB and it also carries support for microSD card on its external storage. DBS Designing did not mention the chipset that will be powering the LG G7, but it has stated that it includes 6 GB of RAM. It has a 3,500mAh battery that is coupled with fast charging feature. It also includes a USB-C port.

This feature may not come on the real LG G7 as this technology is expected to become available in the latter half of next year.

Previous reports have revealed that the Snapdragon 845 chipset would be powering the LG G7. It is also said to feature LG’s own AI assistant.

A couple of months ago, LG launched its late-2017 flagship smartphone — LG V30 at IFA 2017 in Berlin. Now, the company is all set to debut the smartphone in the Indian market.

As per the report, the company will launch LG V30 smartphone in India in December and will carry a price tag of Rs. 47,990 (approx. $743). The company is also expected to provide the B&O Play headset in India along with the purchase of LG V30.

The smartphone comes with a MIL-STD-810G standard IP68 certified aluminium chassis with Gorilla Glass 5 panel on its rear side. It comes with a thermal pad and heat pipe present inside the smartphone aimed at cooling off all the heat generated inside it.

It features a 6-inch QHD+ FullVision display with a polymer-OLED (P-OLED) screen — the first flagship smartphone from LG to come with a P-OLED display. The HDR 10 compliant display has an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a screen resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels.

Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 4GB of RAM. It is expected to be available in both variants — 64GB internal storage and 128GB onboard storage. There is also a microSD card slot that supports storage expansion up to 2TB.

The phone comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes the world’s widest f/1.6 aperture Crystal Clear lens of 16-megapixel, which includes features like 3-axis OIS, laser autofocus and phase detection autofocus (PDAF), coupled with a 13-megapixel secondary lens with f/1.9 aperture. On the front side, the device comes equipped with a 5-megapixel selfie snapper.

On the software front, the LG V30 runs Android 7.1 Nougat operating system based LG UX 6.0+. However, in India, we expect the smartphone to come loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, just like what LG did in Japan.

Along with the usual set of connectivity options, the phone also comes features a 32-bit advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC which offers customizations like digital filters and sound presets. The smartphone is fueled by a non-removable 3,300mAh battery which as per the company can be charged quickly via USB-C due to the presence of Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

LG V30 was announced about two months back sporting quite a number of scintillating features including a f/1.6 aperture camera which should be one of the best we are seeing in a smartphone camera. We recently saw the teardown of the V30 which indicated a well thought-out internal design and hardware. The latest scratch, bend and burn test saw the V30 performing extremely well under tough conditions. The device was first subjected to a scratch test where the display is scratched with a scratch pen and the device was able to withstand up to level 6 on the Mohs scale. That is because the display is protected by a Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The scratch test was also carried out on the rest of the body and that shows the body is entirely made of metal which doesn’t scratch easily.

The V30 was next subjected to a burn test and the burn test revealed that after 10 seconds the screen started to show damage to the pixels. Since it is OLED display, the damage is irreversible but then, who exposes direct fire to a flagship’s display for up to 10 seconds? Lastly, the bend test was carried out and the V30 comes out victorious. Zacks Jerry noted that the LG V30 is a “solid, premium-feeling phone.”

The Snapdragon X50 5G modem was introduced by Qualcomm exactly a year ago. During the ongoing Qualcomm 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong, the company has successfully demonstrated 5G connection through the single-chip X50 5G modem using 28GHz mmWave radio frequency band.

Qualcomm had set a target of hitting a 5G speeds of 5 Gbps. However, the company could achieve 5G connection of over 1 Gbps by carrier aggregation of two 100 MHz 5G bands. The Snapdragon X50 LTE modem is capable to support up to eight 100 MHz bands through carrier aggregation.

The 5G modem can offer fivefold faster connectivity compared to 4G modem. However, 5G modem consumes the same amount of power as conventional 4G modems. This is because the company has employed efficient amplifies as well as enhanced antenna design. It seems that it will take few more years for consumers to take advantage of 5G connectivity.

In order to test and optimize 5G performance in mobile form factor, the company made use of its first mmWave 5G smartphone reference design. It will be used for testing 5G modems, radio and networks with smartphone manufacturers in the coming years to launch 5G-enabled phones in the first half of 2019.

Coming to the 5G reference design device, it has a thickness of 9mm and is fitted with an edge-to-edge screen and dual rear cameras. To test Snapdragon X50 modem inside the reference device, Qualcomm has built a wave antenna that appears like a dime. The company claims it can integrate two of these antennas in smartphone. It will be working on reducing its size by 50 percent over the next year.

Qualcomm has also announced some components that will make it easier for device makers to support the new 600 MHz spectrum from T-Mobile. As of this writing, the LG V30 is the only device that can support the new spectrum from T-Mobile. By the end of 2017 and early 2018, more smartphones are expected to support it.

The U.S. based chip maker has also introduced Snapdragon 636 as an enhanced edition of Snapdragon 630 that was unveiled earlier this year. The new chipset that is built for mid-range phones features custom Kryo 260 cores and carries support for 18:9 displays. Speculations have that an upcoming Xiaomi Redmi phone could be the first Snapdragon 636 phone.

LG has announced the LG V30 and V30 Plus in its home country of South Korea. Both phones were first officially unveiled in Berlin over a week ago, but LG didn’t reveal their prices. It however did that today.

While the price is for Korea, one can have a rough estimate as to how much it would cost in other countries. The LG V30 will sell for KRW 949,300 (∼$841) and the LG V30 Plus will sell for KRW 998,800 (∼$885).

The difference between the two variants is limited to just built-in storage. The V30 has 64GB and the V30+ has 128GB. It is left to you to decide if paying $40 more for an extra 64GB of storage is the right decision, after taking into consideration that they both have MicroSD card slots (256GB max).

Pre-orders for the phones will begin tomorrow, 14th of September and end on 20th of September. It will officially go on sale on the 21st before rolling out to other regions.

The LG V30 and V30 Plus may cost less than the Galaxy Note 8 (64GB =$964, 256GB = $1,107) but it doesn’t come with exciting pre-order gifts like its close competitor. Those who pre-order the V30 will be able to buy a Daydream VR headset for a discounted price of KRW1000 (∼$0.89). To be honest, that is a pretty heavy discount.

Before the launch of the LG V30, the phablet was officially confirmed to arrive with a f/1.6 aperture lens as the primary sensor for its dual rear camera system. The photos snapped with the main sensor of the dual cameras of the pre-production units of the LG V30 has revealed that it is a f/1.7 aperture lens instead of a f/1.6 aperture

LG says that the dual camera module of the LG V30 features a 16-megapixel f/1.6 aperture lens that can shoot amazing shots in low light conditions and it includes a 13-megapixel f/1.9 aperture lens. However, the photos taken through the LG V30 does not support the company claims of f/1.6 aperture lens.

When a snap taken by using the primary sensor of the LG V30 was seen in LG’s galley app or Google Photos, it revealed an aperture of f/1.7. Through the desktop edition of the Google Photos it has been found that the LG V30’s primary sensor has f/1.69 aperture. Even the secondary sensor is found to be f/2.0 on the phone and f/1.99 on the desktop.

The incorrect stats could be because of a glitch with the software. Hence, there is a possibility that the camera app of the phone has not been updated to reflect the latest camera hardware. This should not be a major problem for most users as the photos taken by the LG V30 have been appreciated by various reviewers. Also, the issue has been found on the pre-production unit of the LG V30. The South Korean company has already said that there is an issue with a camera app it may shut down automatically.

Since the source site has already reached out to LG for official confirmation on the issue, the company is likely to reveal an official statement on it the coming days.

Another publication has revealed that the LG V30 is an amazing smartphone for shooting topnotch videos. The Cine Video mode allows users to enhance the videos with Hollywood-like effects with available presets. The “Point Zoom” feature allows users to pick any spot on the video’s frame and focus on it. The on-screen slider can be used then to get close to the focused point.

Codenamed as Joan, the LG V30 is expected to arrive with an aluminum body that measures 151.4 x 752 x 7.4mm which makes it slimmer than the Note 8. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was officially unveiled on Aug. 23 and one of its major rivals, the LG V30 will become official on Aug. 31. A leaked image of what appears to be a real LG V30 phablet has appeared to give a glimpse of its magnificent design.

In the new live image of the alleged LG V30, the handset can be seen sporting an elongated display. The design of the screen is quite similar to that of the LG G6. As the South Korean company has already confirmed, the LG V30 features a 6-inch FullVision OLED screen that will deliver an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels.

Also, one major change that can be observed in the leaked image is that unlike the predecessor phones like the LG V10 and V20, the V30 does not feature a secondary ticker screen. On Aug. 31, LG would be unleashing the LG V30 flagship phablet. A logo of LG V30+ that has been revealed by well-known leakster, Evan Blass, suggests that the LG V30 and V30+ smartphones would be showcased together at the upcoming launch event.

Earlier in this month, a South Korean publication had revealed that LG would be launching the LG V30 and LG V30 Plus this month. The logo shared by Blass indicates that V30 Plus would be sold as LG V30+. Both the smartphones are expected to sport the same appearance. However, the LG V30+ is expected to feature a larger storage.

The South Korean publication had revealed that the LG V30+ would be coming with 128 GB of internal storage whereas the LG V30 would have 64 GB of native storage. It had reported that the LG V30+ would be also featuring Hi-Fi audio, a feature that may not be available on LG V30. The Hi-Fi audio could be either referring to Hi-Fi DAC (digital to analog converter) or Bang & Olufsen audio sytem or both.

LG had launched the LG G6 in February this year. The smartphone came wireless charging feature in the U.S. and lacked Quad DAC. The LG V30 is debuting at the end of this month. However, the South Korean company has revealed plenty of information on its upcoming flagship phablet before its official launch. Earlier today, Evan Blass who is known for his consistent record on leaking information on upcoming smartphones, has shared a new render of the LG V30.

The image contains a silver edition of the LG V30 showing of the glory of its FullVision display. As it can be seen in the image, the 6-inch OLED display has minimal bezels on its sides and its upper and lower bezels are quite thin compared to other flagship phones.

It is expected to carry support for 1,440 x 2,880 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The front side appears to be a bit curved. It may not be coming with a curved display, but the front glass that is placed over it appears to be curved. Unlike predecessor phones like LG V10 and LG V20, there is no secondary ticker screen on the LG V30. The feature has been removed. A Floating Bar and Always On Display features will serve its purpose on the LG V30. Also, there are no physical or capacitive buttons on the frontside of the LG phablet.

The rear side of the Galaxy Note 8 has the fingerprint scanner slotted between the rear dual rear cameras and LED flash. On the Galaxy S8, the camera is placed between the LED flash and fingerprint scanner. Users and reviewers have criticized the rear design of Galaxy S8 as there is high possibility of smudging the camera while unlocking the phone or making payment through Samsung Pay. The Galaxy Note 8 users may also end facing similar issue.

Today, LG has confirmed through a press release that the upcoming LG V30 flagship phablet will be coming with UX 6.0+ Android skin. It will bring plenty of personalization options on the LG V30 including a Floating Bar feature as a replacement of secondary ticker screen.

The LG V30 is the device we all know is launching on August 31st in Berlin. New report from Korea says we will be getting two LG V30s instead of one, a first for the series. One will go by the V30 name and the other will be called the V30 Plus.

The info comes from Korean news outlet, ETNews, which says the differences between the two models will be based on storage. The V30 will have 64GB and the Plus may have 128GB of storage. Other differences may include the “audio system” and the addition of wireless charging, similar to what they did with the LG G6 and G6 Plus.

For the audio system, we still don’t know what to expect since the V-series is known for its Hi-Fi audio prowess, so one can’t possibly have a Hi-Fi chip while the other doesn’t. Rumors floating around says the V30 may come with a Bang & Olufsen audio system. It remains to be seen if both phones will feature different variants of the audio system or one will keep the Quad-DAC audio support from the V20.

The pricing detail for the phones were also made public. The LG V30 will sell for $700 and the V30 Plus will be priced at $875. Both devices will go on sale on September 15. Since ETNews says both devices will have the same display, RAM, cameras, battery and IP rating, it means buyers will be paying $175 more for extra storage, wireless charging and a better audio system.

Yesterday, report reached us that LG began sending out official invites to members of the press. The invite confirms the launch will hold on August at 9 AM at the Maritim Hotel in Berlin.

There are just a few details we do not know about the LG V30. We already know what it looks like and that it will feature a single 6-inch Quad HD+ POLED display and a Snapdragon 835 processor. The display will be curved on both edges and feature thin bezels at the top and bottom.

LG is running an advertising campaign for its next flagship, the LG V30. The campaign called “Find Your Frame” is organised in conjunction with hitRECord.org, a production company owned by Hollywood actor, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who worked on a similar campaign for the LG V10 and LG V20 too.

The campaign brings members together and let’s them collaborate on developing media. For Find Your Frame, the aim is to make video recordings of how you achieve that memorable footage. Submit your footage and it may be used for one of the LG V30’s ads.

Turns out some of the footage on the website contains the upcoming LG V30. Popular leaker and blogger, Roland Quandt has provided images from some of the clips and they match the schematic we saw last week.

The LG V30 is shown in only one color in all the images, and that is Ice Platinum. The images show the phone from various angles. In one shot we can see the phone’s camera app with the controls extending to where you’d usually find the lower bezel. You can also make out the curved corners of the POLED display.

The interesting details are on the rear. The LG V30 is covered with a glass back which appears to be a fingerprint magnet as the smudges are visible. The dual cameras sit in the middle of the phone and are slightly raised. Flanking the sensors on the right is the LED flash and laser focus module. A few millimeters below sits a fingerprint scanner followed by “V30” written in white and just close to the base is the LG insignia.

The LG V30 is scheduled to launch on August 31. It will then go on sale in its home country on September 15 and in the US on September 28.

The V30 is expected to come with a number of upgrades that would place it way higher than its predecessor, the V20. The render shows the V30 standing side by side with the LG G6 and the Galaxy S8 in what would be seen as a comparison of their sizes.

The render shows the V30 will likely come with a curved display which recent disclosure pinpoints to be an OLED display with FullVision features. The render also shows the V30 will have a slightly different aspect ratio from the G6 and Galaxy S8 which makes it a little wider than both existing flagships. The bezels on upper and lower aspects of the device are also said to have been reduced and that is reflected on the render which we can’t say is real or not. Another thing we can grab is the absence of a front home button on the device just like on its predecessor.  The exact specifications of the upcoming  LG flagship are still not fully known but the device is tipped to pack a 5.7-inch display with QHD resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. OLED screen enabled smartphones can show certain notifications on the screen without turning on the entire display. This feature is available as Always-on Display on Samsung flagships. In the same way, a live floating bar will work like a secondary screen on the LG V30’s massive 6-inch OLED display.

The live floating bar is expected to give access to frequently used items and it may also show notifications. There is no information on how the LG V30 will be displaying the floating bar. It may remain at the top portion of the screen or it may be made available as a collapsible short menu that are available on Edge panel of Samsung flagships. There is a possibility that LG V30 may allow users to disable the live floating bar so that they can enjoy the 18:9 full-screen display.

The massive screen of the LG V30 is expected to support QHD+ resolution and it may carry support for HDR 10 and Daydream VR from Google. It is heavily pegged to feature Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It is also speculated to deliver impressive photo shooting experience in low-light conditions as one of its dual rear cameras is expected to feature a f/1.6 aperture lens. It will be packed with a 3,300mAh battery.

Apart from Quad DAC, LG’s collaboration with B&O will allow the LG V30 to deliver stunning audio experience. It is also expected to arrive with MIL-STD-810G military standard certification that was made available on LG V10 and V20 smartphones. It may sound a bit contradicting, rumors have also hinted that it will be coming with wireless charging as it will be featuring all-glass chassis.
