But the spectacular thing about the US version is that it came with a Dimensity 1000C chip. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-341309" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet.png?x44794" alt="LG Velvet 5G" width="559" height="636" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet.png 858w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-264x300.png 264w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-768x874.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-696x792.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-369x420.png 369w" sizes="(max-width: 559px) 100vw, 559px" /></a></p>
<p>T-Mobile&#8217;s Velvet 5G happens to be the first smartphone that&#8217;ll be powered by the new MediaTek chipset. The phone is also the first model to pack a Dimensity chipset launched outside of China.</p>
<p>The Dimensity 1000C is the latest chip in the flagship 1000-series. The chip is manufactured using a 7nm process node and features four Arm-Cortex-A77 CPU cores and four power-efficient <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/arm">Arm</a> Cortex-A55 cores operating up to 2GHz, with a large, low-latency communal cache that improves performance and power-efficiency even further. The chip bundles the Mali-G57 GPU which gives it a 25% performance boost compared to the Dimensity 800.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-341310" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="569" height="582" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-2.jpg 881w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-2-294x300.jpg 294w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-2-768x785.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-2-356x364.jpg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-2-696x711.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/lg-velvet-2-411x420.jpg 411w" sizes="(max-width: 569px) 100vw, 569px" /></a></p>
<p>The Velvet 5G manages a single-core score of 601 on <a href="https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/3658649" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GeekBench</a>. On the multi-core test, it scored a total of 2365. When compared to the Dimensiy 800-powered Honor X10 Max GeekBench result, the Velvet 5G achieves up to 11% increase in single-core performance. The multi-core performance also increased by up to 8%.</p>
<p>We can&#8217;t say if LG will release the phone in other markets but the model will go on sale tomorrow. It carries a decent price tag of $588.</p>

Those who pre-order the phone before the end of the month will get the LG Dual Screen accessory, LG Tone Free TWS earbuds and a protective cover for the phone.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/lg-velvet.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-327798" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/lg-velvet.jpg?x44794" alt="LG Velvet" width="727" height="318" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/lg-velvet.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/lg-velvet-300x131.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/lg-velvet-696x304.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></a></p>
<p>The Velvet 5G features a 6.9-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2460 x 1080 pixel and 20.5:9 aspect ratio. The display utilises a waterdrop notch that is home to a 16MP camera. Powering the phone is the Snapdragon 765G mobile platform which brings 5G support with its built-in modem. There is 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage that can be expanded to up to an extra 2TB via the MicroSD card slot.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/LG-Velvet-IP68-rating.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-321403" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/LG-Velvet-IP68-rating.png?x44794" alt="LG Velvet IP68 rating" width="950" height="525" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/LG-Velvet-IP68-rating.png 950w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/LG-Velvet-IP68-rating-300x166.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/LG-Velvet-IP68-rating-768x424.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/LG-Velvet-IP68-rating-696x385.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/LG-Velvet-IP68-rating-760x420.png 760w" sizes="(max-width: 950px) 100vw, 950px" /></a></p>
<p>At the rear, the phone sports a pretty nice triple rear camera design that mimics a falling raindrop. The camera setup includes a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5MP depth sensor.</p>
<p>The smartphone will be launching soon in North and South America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. However, LG<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/06/10/lg-velvet-4g-with-snapdragon-845-and-6gb-ram-could-be-coming-soon/"> might launch the rumoured 4G version</a> in some of the regions.</p>
