This is going to be solved soon as the Chinese manufacturer is ready to release Ulefone Note 7P. The Note 7P is an upgraded version with 4G/LTE support and better specs.

Ulefone Note 7P packs the same SoC as the Redmi 6A, Helio P22, a reliable and powerful enough performer. The phone retains the 6.1″ HD+ display of its predecessor with an aspect ratio of 19.2:9. It also features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage instead of the 1GB/16GB combo on Note 7. The rear camera is a triple configuration with 8MP/2MP/2MP sensors and a 5MP selfie camera. Both cameras are aided by ArcSoft’s algorithms for higher performance. What’s more, there is a 3500mAh battery, Face and Fingerprint unlock, and Android 9 Pie OS.

The exact price of the device is yet to be known but judging by similar devices from Ulefone, it surely isn’t going to be an expensive model. Ulefone Note 7P will be available in three color variants (Twilight, Black, Gold) and if you are interested, you can check the official product page.

You could also call it the Honor Tab 5. Note that there’s a good chance that you have already heard this name, if you recall, Huawei had released the MediaPad T5 earlier this year. Well, don’t get yourself confused, these two are basically the same device. Except for minute differences (camera specs, fingerprint), the Huawei MediaPad T5 is basically the Honor MediaPad T5. Just note that in China it goes under the Honor brand, while internationally, its being sold under the Huawei brand name. Now that we’ve cleared this, let’s move on to the Honor MediaPad T5 (Honor Tab 5) in detail.

Honor Tab 5

The tablet comes in an all metal CNC body and weighs just about 460 grams. The dimensions (243mm × 164mm × 7.8mm) are decent enough for a 10-inch tablet, making it easy to carry around where ever you go. To be honest, there’s nothing spectacular about the tablet’s design but for its affordable pricing, the metal body and under 500 gram weight makes it a pretty good tablet in the segment. Further, there are two color options available: Glacier Blue and Grey.

Honor Mediapad T5 10.1 Display

The Honor Mediapad T5 comes with a 10.1-inch 19200 x 1200 pixel resolution display, which brings the aspect ratio to a comfortable 16:1o. Apart from the large FHD display up front, the tablet features dual stereo speakers with Huawei Histen 5.0 sound technology with Harman Kardon professional tuning. It’s clear that the company wants to market this tablet as an entertainment device. The large display and stereo speakers definitely gives it an edge over large screen smartphones which threaten to eat up the tablet market.

Inside, the tablet comes with a Kirin 659 processor with 3+32GB and 4+64GB storage options. Since its a Kirin processor on board, you also get the company’s GPU Turbo technology which should offer solid gaming performance.

Another upgrade on the Honor Tab 5 aka Honor MediaPad T5 is the presence of a fingerprint sensor and even face unlock. The Huawei branded model that’s sold internationally doesn’t feature this sensor. Other notable features includes eye comfort mode with blue light filter, and children’s corner.

Honor Mediapad T5 4G LTE model

The Honor MediaPad T5 starts at 1399 Yuan ($200) for the 3+32GB model, 1599 Yuan ($230) for the 4+64GB model and goes up to 1799 Yuan ($260) for the LTE 4+64GB variant. The company has just announced that the tests for the 1.2 Gbps speed have been completed, and there is no carrier which has obtained such fast download speeds. To be accurate, the maximum download speed reached is 1155.8 Mbps, that is almost equal to 1.2 Gbps. We are every day closer to 5G networks and connection is getting definitely getting faster, but it will take some time for the 1.2 Gbps speed to be available for China Unicom customers.

Indeed, the device which reached this result is equipped with the Snapdragon 845 SoC. It is the latest flagship processor launched by Qualcomm and it is still not on sale. We will probably see the first phones with Snapdragon 845 in Q1 2018 and they should be the alleged Sony Xperia XZ2 recently surfaced in some leaks, Samsung Galaxy S9 and Xiaomi Mi 7.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 has reached the 1.2 Gbps download speed in the tests by China Unicom thanks to its Snapdragon X20 Cat. 18 LTE modem. Other specs of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 include 4x Cortex A75 and 4x Cortex A55 CPUs for a maximum frequency of 2.8 GHz. The SoC supports an AI platform and Wi-Fi 802.11ac Multi-Gigabit (with 4×4 MIMO).

At the Computex event currently holding in Taipei, Microsoft and Qualcomm have announced partner manufacturers that will launch notebooks powered by the SD835 running full Windows 10.

These notebooks will take advantage of the chip’s Gigabit LTE modem for constant connection to the internet hence the tag “always connected PC”. The small size of the chip will allow for a better designed laptop. Since the chip is no larger than a penny, the PCB is smaller, allowing for larger batteries or other additional components.

The notebooks will also be able to enjoy superior battery life thanks to the chip. Qualcomm claims that battery life will last up to 4 or 5 times longer when in standby mode compared to other laptops. Aside that, when your device is in standby mode, emails and other data will still sync just like a smartphone.

All Snapdragon powered notebooks will come with LTE built-in via a technology called e-SIM (embedded SIM). AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone and a number of international carriers will support the technology. Data plans can be simply added from the Windows Store.

There was a demo on display and a number of office programs like Excel, Word and PowerPoint were tested out. There was also a video download test from YouTube to show how fast Gigabit LTE is. The 1080p video downloaded at a speed of 370Mbps and took roughly 30 seconds. The highlight was the download and installation of a 32-bit legacy app, 7-Zip.

There were questions about the support for VR and AR since the Snapdragon 835 chip is what Google used for its Daydream Standalone VR headsets. Microsoft is working on mixed reality headsets, so there might be a chance the SD835 will play a part. However, no details were provided regarding that.

Lenovo, HP, and ASUS are the three partner companies announced to release laptops powered by the Snapdragon 835.

Oukitel are all set to release the new improved K4000 Pro, lets have a look at the specs of both phones and see what improvements Oukitel have managed to make to the new handset.

The new K4000 Pro will be seen by many as more of a K4000+ the newer handset sees some styling tweaks and some under the hood enhancements that should make the original K4000 even better.

So whats not been changed?

Both the original K4000 and the newer K4000 Pro feature 5-inch HD displays (1280 x 720p resolution) and are powered by 1ghz Quad-Core 64bit Cortex-A53 Mediatek MT6735P processors, these are not the most powerful CPU’s but should do an ok job for most everyday needs.

Ram and Rom configurations are the same between both handsets with 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM and both feature the same camera pairing of 8.0 mega pixel (13 Mega Pixel interpolated) rear facing camera and 2.0 Mega Pixel (5 Mega Pixel interpolated) front facing camera.

Like the original K4000 the newer K4000 Pro will come with Android Lollipop 5.1, with a confirmed upgrade path to Android Lollipop 6.0 on the K4000 Pro.

Given that both handsets share a lot of components in common, it would be a fairly safe bet that the original K4000 will also see the upgrade to 6.0

USB OTG functions like reverse charging will also make a return on the K4000 pro, when used with an OTG cable.

So whats changed?

The original OUKITEL K4000 featured a large removable 4000mAh battery, whilst the K4000 Pro sees an increased to 4600mAh whilst still remaining removable.

In order to make maximum use of the battery without making charge times to long, Oukitel have increased the original K4000 charging from 5V/1.0A to 5V/1.5A this is a 0.5A increase in charging power and should see both the K4000 Pro and the K4000 fully charged within 3-3.5 hours.

Oukitel have also improved network coverage on the K4000 Pro, both handsets support the following bands, 2G(GSM850/900/1800/1900MH) and 3G(WCDMA 900/2100MHz) 4G FDD LTE B1/3/7/20 (2100/1800/2600/800MHz). the newer K4000 Pro adds one more band: B8 (900MHz).

There have also been a few structural changes K4000 pro, the screen is now 1.1mm thick, making the glass more durable and up to three times stronger, the K4000 Pro also has an improved corner design to its 2.5D CNC ARC craft metal design, that should help the phone to further resist damage when dropped.

Another improvement to the phone comes in the styling department, the Oukitel K4000 Pro now has a crocodile leather textured back cover, this should hopefully make the phone comfortable in the hand whilst also helping to reduce the chances of dropping the phone.

As soon as a review sample finds its way to me, I will do a full handset review.

So what do you guys think? does the Oukitel K4000 Pro have enough extras for you? are you a K4000 owner? would you consider purchasing the new model for its improved battery? or will you wait for the K6000 Pro? or perhaps one of the other great phones that are due this year.

Hopefully Oukitel will continue the strong push they had at the end of 2015 and will start to bring out more 2016 phones with processing power to match their impressive batteries.

For now please leave comments and questions below.

Regards Shanos

The original K4000 can be purchased here

Oukitel have today sent over a Hands on video of the Oukitel K6000 pro showing off some menus on of the phone.

Checking out the video it would appear that the Oukitel K6000 Pro’s body and styling are similar to the original K6000, this time Oukitel have included a rear mounted finger print scanner.

Like the original K6000 the handset in the video does appear to be quite thick and large, possibly down to the small hands of the person using it combined with the fact the K6000 Pro like its younger brother features a 6000mAh battery.

Other notable points that help to set the newer Pro model apart from the original K6000 include the increased screen resoloution which has been bumped up from HD 720p to FHD 1080p, whilst the Quad core Mediatek MT6735 running at 1GHZ found in the original K6000 has also been upgraded to an Octa core Mediatek MT6753 running at 1.3GHZ.

If you like the idea of a phone with battery life that could see 2 or more days between charges but want even more processing power to make use of the onboard 6000mAh battery, a third option will also be made available, the Oukitel K6000 Premium which will come with 2k screen but more impressive will be the Deca core Mediatek MT6797 running at 2.5GHZ.

I am currently testing the original Oukitel K6000, the review for this should be finished in the next couple of days.

If Oukitel can get the rom right on either the Pro or the Premium versions of the K6000 running as smoothly as they have on the original K6000 and keep the battery life half decent this phone should attract a lot of buyers.

Check out the Hands on video of the Oukitel K6000 pro and leave questions or comments below

Regards Shanos

Oukitel K4000 Pro with Android Marshmallow

It would seem that a lot of China based phone companies are looking to get on to the Marshmallow band waggon at the moment, Oukitel not wanting to be left behind have been working on the Oukitel K4000 Pro with Android Marshmallow.

From the information received today it would appear that this is not the K4000 Pro’s official Rom, but is however the work of some of their technical guys.

It would appear that their curiosity got the better of them and they decided to see if they could endow the Oukitel K4000 Pro with Android Marshmallow via a port of the highly regarded CyanogenMod 13 ROM.

I would love to see it in action and get a list of whats working and more importantly whats not working, but for now will have to make do with the knowledge that Oukitel are at least trying.

Not much more is known about the K4000 Pro, we do know that like its non Pro little brother it will come with a 5000mAh battery, and that the battery works with Flash Charge Technology (5v/1.5a) to give fast charge times.

The K4000 Pro will also feature a 2.5D curved Arc design screen that is 1.1mm thick (as opposed to 0.7mm which is standard for most phones), this should help to make the screen a lot more resistant to drop based cracking.

Whilst not shown in the picture, It has also been confirmed that the rear cover will feature a crocodile skin textured plastic design.

The K4000 Pro comes with support for the following networks

4G LTE FDD Five-Band: 800/ 900/ 1800/ 2100/ 2600

I will keep you informed as and when we get more news and information on the K4000 Pro

For now please feel free to leave any questions or comments below.

The company’s latest offering is the new VK 1000 which retails for only around $150 making it an extremely affordable LTE handset in the market. Given its affordable price, we decided to take a look at the specifications and features of the device.

DESIGN

Like most other Android smartphones out there, VK 1000 comes with a rectangular design with slightly round edges. The device is made of plastic but still looks sturdy. There’s a camera up front, besides the ear piece along with three capacitive buttons at the bottom. On the back, you get the rear camera module along with the speaker grill.

The power button is situated on the right side, while the volume rocker keys are on the left. The button placements feel quite natural and overall, we are happy with the design. Nothing too fancy, but still well built enough for the price tag.

DISPLAY

VK’s latest offering comes with a 5.0 inch 960 x 540 resolution screen. This display should be good enough for your daily use as it will deliver clear and bright pictures.

You get the same resolution display on most smartphones in this price range, so we are pretty happy with the screen.

HARDWARE

VK 1000 comes with a Mediatek MTK6582 + 6290 Quad Core processor which has helped the company to keep its price low. You also have 1GB RAM inside with Mali 400 GPU alongside the 4GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using a MicroSD card.

After the OS and apps that come pre-installed with the device, you only get around 2.5GB of internal storage, so you may have to purchase an external card to suffice all your storage needs.

CAMERA

VK has included an 8MP rear camera on the device with flash and features like auto focus and touch to focus. There’s a 2MP shooter too for selfies and video calling.

Camera is one area where we felt VK could have done better. Our recently reviewed Leagoo Lead 2 smartphone had a much better 13 MP Sony Exmor sensor with a 5MP front camera. So, Lead 2, which is way cheaper, clicks better pictures than the 8MP camera sensor found on VK 1000.

BATTERY AND CONNECTIVITY

You get all the standard connectivity features like Bluetooth, FM Radio, Wi-Fi, proximity and compass sensors, GPS etc. But the highlight of the device is its 4G LTE support, which makes it one of the cheapest LTE handsets currently in the market.

VK has included a 2,300 mAh battery inside the device, which we feel is a bit small given the LTE support. But it should power the device atleast for a few hours, if not a whole day like other Android handsets.

SOFTWARE

The device comes with the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat version out of the box.

CONCLUSION

VK 1000 may not be the best Android smartphone in the market in its pricerange, but it is still one of the cheapest LTE handsets that we have seen.
So who will be the first one built in MTK 4G chips? According to rumors, Zhongxing may be listed as one, insider from ZTE told that a phone built in MTK octa core LTE platform is coming out!

According to informed @Naning10028 public, we have a general profile to the MTK LTE product. Firstly, the design, it will use same out look design as Zhongxing memo 2, which is laconically designed, no camera ledge in 7.8 mm body, however, for the new product is adjusted its inner structure, the phone will not support double card double standby anymore, only a SIM card slot left, and it support tf extension.

And to the specs. Details is most known to us, the processor ‘s type is still unknown, predicted the MT6592 octa core solution, adding LTE Modem based on MT6592, support China Mobile 4G. Screen is 5 inch 720P resolution LTPS screen, 5MP and back 8MP double camera, 2300 mAH battery, these are the same as memo 2, different is the memory, the LTE new phone has 2GB running memory, with 16GB storage built in.

Regrettably, the phone may be firstly available only for China Mobile customers who use U880, later may be open to all.

Perhaps as some noticed, the process of product of 4G LTE , so-called the MTK “three most advantage brands”, and 64bit phones are ahead of schedule., phones hosting MTK 4G LTE solution are coming soon. MTK 4G LTE products are hopeful to be seen on the market before the end of June, and the 4G LTE octa-cores SOC MT6595’s launch time has been ahead to July.

As the far away 64 bit processor, it comes some rumors too. After heard “ Google new smart phone was possible adapting MTK 64 bit 4G LTE chip to launch,” another has come out and this time is domestic producer..

Insider Jiutang Pan has exposed domestic giant Huawei is possible cooperate with MTC on 64 bit products, launching smart phone products that carries MT6752. MTK has successfully become the 3rd largest IC design factory because of hot sales of its products. For the chip production has been favoured by domestic and global big bands, Huawei decided to project and launch MT6752 octa-core 64-bit LTE mobile phone, which is a positive response to MTK. Both sides have well cooperated at the 3G generation so there would be no much issue in the 4G era.

Make a review in Huawei’s current production line, most are still 3G products. Although 4G products were not as plentiful as Coolpad, it is still one of some sells 4G products a lot. Apart with rumored Huawei Ascend P7, and thousand-Yuan-class G620, G716 and MATE2, X1. And there are some 4G products following in. It is obviously the main force of Huawei is still 4G products, it will be the 4th quarter if the 64bit phone exists.

MT6752 and MT6732 are both revealed on the MWC in February, the former has 8 cores while the latter is quad core design. Both are cortex-A53 processor, but the Mt6572’s specs is better than MT6732, the main frequency is 2GHz and above, supporting 64bit system and dual mode dual standby. ( including LTE, 3G and GSM voice data), integrate ARM Mali-T760 GPU, supporting H2.65/1080P 30fps hardware decoding, 16mp ISP and 1080P screen and so on. CPU pin set is completely capable with MT6732.

Without accident, many domestic companies has MT6752/MT6732 related plan rather than Huawei, each product of MTK produced effect on the market, let’s wait and see the 64 bit storm.

We’ve covered the news about Samsung which will sue Apple ovre LTE and Apple has recently made headlines everywhere because Apple has presence the iPhone 5. But they have to be prepared for attacks Samsung. So?

After losing a patent case against Apple technology, Samsung in August had promised to sue Apple if they put out an iPhone with LTE capabilities.

Apple also has confirmed that the iPhone 5 has LTE network technology capabilities, through a network of AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and some other carriers.

“LTE is the most complicated technology ever brought to this Earth,” said Apple CEO, Tim Cook, at the presentation of the iPhone 5.

Now there are several vendors which holds several patents on LTE; Nokia (18.9%), while Samsung itself holds 12.2% of LTE patents.

LTE network speeds held by the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S III much help Samsung in battle against Apple in the smartphone market.

After winning yesterday’s technology patent case against Samsung, Apple actually intends to sue again on eight products owned by Samsung.

Until now, the Samsung has not issued an official statement on the plan behind their demands against Apple on LTE technology.
