Apple’s refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro is official, and it’s all about endurance and efficiency. The new model, powered by the company’s M5 chip, promises up to 24 hours of battery life — the longest yet on a MacBook Pro — without bumping up the starting price. It’s available for pre-order now, with shipping set for October 22.

Under the hood, the M5 brings serious upgrades. Apple says the new chip delivers 20% better CPU performance and up to 3.5x faster AI processing thanks to an improved Neural Engine. Graphics also see a healthy boost, with 1.6x faster rendering and memory bandwidth now pushing past 150GB/s. In short, it’s built for people who multitask hard — from developers to video editors and 3D artists.

SSD speeds have reportedly doubled too, cutting load times for big projects or photo libraries. And that 24-hour battery claim? It’s likely tied to lighter workloads, but even half of that would be impressive in the real world.

The rest of the hardware sticks to what works. There’s a stunning 14-inch Liquid Retina XDR display that peaks at 1,600 nits, a six-speaker setup with spatial audio, and a 12MP webcam with Center Stage. You also get three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, an SD card slot, a headphone jack, and MagSafe 3 for charging.

macOS Tahoe runs the show, bringing new “Apple Intelligence” features like live translation in Messages and FaceTime, plus smarter automations through the Shortcuts app.

Apple’s also leaning on sustainability again — the chassis uses 100% recycled aluminum, and nearly half of the materials are recycled overall. The packaging is now fully fiber-based.

Pricing starts at $1,599 for the 16GB/512GB base model, with higher-tier options reaching $1,999 for 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. A 70W USB-C charger comes in the box, though European buyers may see different packaging due to regional rules.
