Bloomberg reports that Apple is working on a MacBook Pro model featuring an OLED touchscreen, possibly arriving toward the end of 2026. If accurate, this would mark the first Mac laptop with an OLED display and built-in touch support. The report suggests that Apple may replace the current notch with a Dynamic Island interface, similar to what debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro series.

On the MacBook Pro, the Dynamic Island is expected to house the webcam while also serving as an interactive software element. It may expand and adapt depending on the application in use, showing media controls, live activities and other contextual information. Third-party app integration is also said to be under consideration, bringing a more dynamic interface to macOS.

Alongside the hardware changes, Apple is reportedly refining macOS to better support touch input. Features similar to iPad gestures, such as pinch-to-zoom and faster scrolling, could be introduced across the system. However, the MacBook Pro is not expected to be marketed as a touch-first device, and the traditional keyboard and trackpad will remain central to the experience.

The OLED MacBook Pro models are said to retain the familiar 14-inch and 16-inch sizes while adopting a thinner and lighter chassis. Apple is expected to refresh the MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips through the March 4 launch event. If this is true, then Apple could be blurring the lines between the iPad and MacBook. Ming-Chi Kuo further adds that the iPhone A series chip powered MacBook will enter mass production in the fourth quarter of this year, but will skip touch support.

It might be equipped with the A18 Pro SoC, which is the same chip that powers the iPhone 16 Pro models and could sport a 12.9-inch display. Apple has resisted adding touchscreens to Macs for over a decade, but that stance may finally be shifting. According to reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is preparing its first OLED MacBook Pro with touch support, and the launch window could be as early as late 2026 or early 2027.

Up until now, the closest thing Apple has ever offered to a touchscreen Mac was the Touch Bar. That slim strip of glass above the keyboard doubled as a customizable control surface.

It first appeared in 2016 and remained until the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2, which Apple quietly discontinued in 2023. It was a clever way to add touch without rethinking macOS, but it was ultimately a half-step that never truly replaced physical keys or delivered the benefits of a full touchscreen.

If all goes according to plan, the company will unveil M5-powered MacBook Pro models in 2025, followed shortly by OLED MacBook Pros with a next-gen M6 chip. That means we may be only two product cycles away from a major redesign of the MacBook lineup.

For Apple, the move makes sense. While iPhones and iPads have normalized tapping, swiping, and pinching, Macs still rely on keyboards and trackpads. That gap can feel awkward, especially for younger users who expect every screen to respond to touch. Adding touch would push the MacBook closer to the iPad, blurring the line between laptop and tablet in a way Apple has carefully avoided until now.

Interestingly, Kuo also hinted that the technology may not remain exclusive to high-end Pros. Reports suggest Apple is working on an entry-level MacBook with an iPhone-style processor. 

According to Kuo, the first-generation product slated for mass production in Q4 2025 might not include a touchscreen, but its successor—expected in 2027—could feature one. That means we can also expect the MacBook Air to gain touch input, at the very least.

Apple is set to launch its next-gen M4 MacBooks later this month, but a surprising twist has already surfaced. An unboxing video of the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro has appeared on YouTube revealing key details about the laptop.

We can be sure that the device in the video is a real M4 MacBook Pro as Mark Gurman from Bloomberg also shared the video on X (formerly Twitter).

So the video was posted by the Russian channel Wylsacom, though they didn’t mention how they got the device before its official release. Nonetheless, the unboxing confirms four key upgrades for the base 14-inch MacBook Pro. 

The box clearly mentions the device is powered by a M4 chip, and it’s with a 10-core CPU. That’s an upgrade over the 8-core M3 chip on last year’s model. The increase in CPU cores is expected to offer a 25% performance boost and the benchmark results shared by Wylsacom seem to support this claim.

In the Geekbench 6 benchmark, the new MacBook with the M4 chip scored 3864 points in the single-core test and 15288 in the multi-core test. For comparison, last year’s 16-inch MacBook Pro scored 2974 points in single-core and 20881 points in multi-core tests.

Another notable upgrade could be the bump in base RAM. There have been rumors that Apple may increase the minimum RAM to 16GB for future Macs, and we can see the box label of the M4 MacBook with 16GB of memory. However, we are unsure whether this is indeed a base variant of the device.

Additionally, the M4 MacBook Pro seems to come with three Thunderbolt 4 ports, a welcome upgrade from the two Thunderbolt 3 ports on current models.

The leak also hints at the introduction of a “Space Black” color option for the base 14-inch MacBook Pro. Currently, this color is only available on models with the more powerful M3 Pro or M3 Max chips.

Mark Gurman, known for his accurate Apple insights, expects the first M4-powered Macs to be announced in late October, with releases starting November 1st. If true, we won’t have to wait long for Apple to confirm these details.

Apple announced its custom M3 lineup of processors alongside the updated MacBook Pros and an iMac at the end of last month. The base 14-inch MacBook Pro discontinued the M2 13-inch variant. As usual, this year’s newest MacBook Pro models come in different RAM, storage, and processor configurations depending on the user’s needs. However, its baffling that Apple is offering 8GB RAM with a base variant at a starting price tag of $1,599 for the 14-inch Pro. Now, the Cupertino-based tech giant has made a bold claim on the matter. 

8GB RAM on M3 MacBook Pro is on par with 16GB on PCs

Apple has been widely criticized for offering 8GB RAM as a baseline on its computers as it is insufficient for heavy tasks and creative professionals. This is understandable considering that this is the MacBook Pro model we are talking about and something that carries a starting price tag of $1,599.  

Now in an interview with Chinese content creator Lin YilYi, Apple’s VP of Worldwide Product Marketing Bob Borchers responded to the criticism of 8GB RAM for pro use cases. He stated that “Comparing our memory to other system’s memory actually isn’t equivalent, because of the fact that we have such an efficient use of memory, and we use memory compression, and we have a unified memory architecture” The executive also added that 8GB on the M3 MacBook Pro is probably comparable to 16GB on other PC systems. This is because Apple uses the RAM more efficiently. 

For those unaware Apple’s MacBook features unified memory technology that has certain benefits over traditional memory. It is high-bandwidth and low-latency memory that brings together the memory resources available for both the CPU and GPU, which are usually split into two. Borchers also goes on to say that people need to look beyond the specifications and understand how the technology is being used. 

Regardless of the RAM, the M3 MacBook Pro still justifies its $1,599 price tag as it comes with a mini-LED liquid retina XDR display, 120Hz ProMotion, and a better battery life.

The first Geekbench 6 results for Apple’s M3 Max chip have surfaced, providing a look at its CPU performance. The results show that the M3 Max offers a similar performance to the M2 Ultra chip for a lot less money.

The results appear to be for the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, with the highest multi-core score for the M3 Max with a 16-core CPU being 21,084.

This means that the M3 Max is around as fast as the M2 Ultra chip, which has an average multi-core score of 21,182 in the Mac Pro Tower and 21,316 in the Mac Studio. The M3 Max is within 1% of the M2 Ultra in terms of CPU performance.

Apple claims that the M3 Max chip is up to 50% faster than the M2 Max chip, and the early Geekbench results support this claim. However, it is important to note that benchmarks only provide a snapshot of performance, and real-world performance can vary.

The new 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 Max chip starts at $3,499 in the U.S., which is $500 less than the Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra chip. This means that you can effectively get the same CPU performance for less money with the new 16-inch MacBook Pro.

The new MacBook Pro is available to order now, and most configurations will be shipped on November 7 while M3 Max configurations will be available later in November.

The news arrives from Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. The Cupertino based giant is recently rumored to release new iPad models later this week, but next gen MacBooks would reportedly launch next year. Gurman’s report also added that the M3 powered MacBook will be released sometime between spring and summer at the earliest. The latest Power On newsletter from Gurman adds that the 13-inch and 15-inch M3 MacBook Air is currently at the engineering verification test (EVT) stage.

On the other hand, the M3 MacBook Pro models are in the later stage of development and are near mass production. Mark states that the “14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips have reached the DVT stage (Design Validation Test). If this is true, then the new MacBooks could launch around early or Spring 2024.

This is in line with Apple’s previous launch cycle since the M2 Pro and M2 Max powered MacBook Pros back in January 2023. Interestingly enough, the report also contradicts the rumor of new iPads launching later this week. These new tablets will feature modest upgrades like the A16 Bionic and M2 chipset. But no major changes are planned for the upcoming iPads.

Apple is widely expected to expand OLED display technology to the iPad Pro as soon as next year, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for an OLED MacBook Pro. 

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, said in a recent webinar with Bloomberg that Apple is not likely to release an OLED MacBook Pro until 2026 or 2027. The reason for the delay is that the manufacturers of OLED panels need to set up dedicated production lines for laptop-sized panels, and that will take some time.

Young’s predictions corroborate with previous information from The Elec, which also reported that the OLED MacBook Pro had been delayed to 2027. 

OLED displays offer a number of advantages over LCD displays, including better brightness and contrast, deeper blacks, and improved power efficiency. This makes them a good fit for the MacBook Pro, which is Apple’s flagship laptop lineup. 

However, since OLED displays are not expected to be available on MacBook Pros anytime soon, we can only wait. Thankfully, the current displays on MacBook Pros are already very good, so this isn’t a dire situation at all. 

Despite the delay in OLED MacBook Pros, Young said that Apple is still on track to release OLED iPads next year. He also said that the first iPad Air and iPad mini models with OLED displays are not expected to launch until 2026.

At the end of the day, it was as expected. Apple’s manual is reportedly “quite comprehensive and easy to follow,” but there’s one intriguing aspect: the instruction to drape the MacBook’s screen over the edge of a table so the user doesn’t touch the battery during repair.

The repairability score of the new MacBook Pro was 5 out of 10, which is not a high score. This is because many critical parts, such as RAM and processor, are soldered to the Logic Board.

This raises the issue of upgradability, as the chances of replacing parts on newer MacBook models are low. When purchasing, it’s important to consider your needs and make a decision accordingly.

CASETiFY has unveiled two protective cases and a sleeve for the MacBook Pro. The new cases come with shock-absorbing capabilities and are compatible with the 2023 MacBook Pro series. The CASETiFy cases come with anti-microbial functionality and are made from recycled materials.

The company’s advanced shock absorption technology, EcoShock offers significant protection to the laptop. The accessories are customizable, as users can create their own style, choosing from several designs. The specific products are an Impact case, a Snap case, and a laptop sleeve.

The CASETiFY Impact case is made partly from recycled phone cases. It provides rugged protection at the corners of the laptop. Its shock-absorbing materials that adorn inner part of the case safeguard the MacBook Pro from drops and bumps. Heat management is also enhanced with ventilation openings. The anti-slip grips are another layer of protection offered by the Impact case. This prevents the laptop from sliding off any smooth surfaces.

The Snap case features both anti-grip and heat dispersion cut-outs like the Impact case. The case can be easily snapped on and off. The Snap case is available in 13-inch, 14-inch, and 16-inch options for the 2023 MacBook Pro. It can also be used for the MacBook Air.

The CASETiFY laptop sleeve is made from shock-absorbing neoprene material. It has a water-resistant zipper as an added layer of protection. It has a single compartment and is made from recycled materials, as with the Impact and Snap cases.

The Impact case is priced at $85, while the Snap case costs $62. The new CASETiFY sleeve retails for $52. All three products can be purchased directly from CASETiFY.

The base level 14-inch M2 (Pro) MacBook Pro reportedly has a slower SSD than its predecessor. In BlackMagic’s Disk Speed Test, the 512 GB SSD in Apple’s latest flagship achieved read speed scores of around 2,970 MB/s and write speed scores of around 3,150 MB/s, compared to 4,900 MB/s reads and 3,950 MB/s writes that the M1 Pro with a 512GB SSD was capable of.

This means that the base model of the M2 MacBook Pro has around 39 percent slower reads and 20 percent slower writes than the one released in 2021. The reason for the difference is likely because of to the chips used in the SSD. According to 9to5Mac, the 512 GB SSD in the previous-gen 14-inch had four NAND storage chip. However, the one on the M2 Pro seems to have only two.

These are higher-capacity chips, but they can’t parallelize reads and writes as much, resulting in slower performance. This is not a new strategy for Apple, as both the 256GB M2 MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro had slower storage than the M1 versions of those laptops. It is disappointing to see that the base-level M2 Pro are measurably worse than their predecessors in terms of SSD performance. Especially considering the 14-inch MacBook Pro costs $2,000. It is worth noting that the SSDs in the new Macs will not be “that” slow. They will still perform well in daily tasks.

Apple recently filed a patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a future MacBook design that would be made entirely of glass trackpad. The patent covers a force input/tactile output interface in the touchpad area that is bezel-less and formable Made of various materials such as metallic glass and composite materials. The user interface surface can be a protective cover, such as glass or sapphire, that sits over the active display area of the display.

Apple’s patent statement #17 states that the laptop will have a glass top surface with the trackpad area defined on the glass top surface. Patent Figure 2A illustrates an example distribution of localized flexible regions defined into an interior surface of an electronic device that may be associated With force input/tactile output interface.

The design of this future MacBook also aims to reduce the thickness of the device by spreading the force input/haptic output actuators across the entire width of the MacBook and eliminating the traditional cutout area for a dedicated trackpad. This design is similar to the one LG showed off at CES The 2023 features a laptop with a glass construction and a trackpad that’s only visible when needed, and then lights under the glass that reveal the perimeter of the trackpad when touched.

Notably, Apple is already working on another similar patent that could illuminate icons on a future glass laptop. The patent would use a dynamic virtual trackpad. Overall, the patent application suggests that Apple is exploring new design options for its future MacBook focus on clean and minimalist design, while also incorporating advanced technology such as force input/haptic output interface. Apple‘s Mac laptops have emerged as the company’s primary growth driver for its personal computer business, with the MacBook Pro leading the way. According to data from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), as of the September 2022 quarter, the MacBook Pro accounted for 54% of Mac sales, with the MacBook Air close behind at 46%. Overall, laptops accounted for 74% of Mac units sold in 2022, compared to the 26% figure from the desktop business, which includes the iMac, Mac Pro, Mac mini, and Mac Studio.

In the desktop segment, the iMac and Mac Pro led the way at 50% and 43%, respectively, while the Mac mini and Mac Studio accounted for just 4%. Despite this, Apple’s Macs continue to be popular in both the education and enterprise sectors. Educational or student use accounts for roughly one-third of Mac purchases, while almost 50% of Mac buyers report that they will use their new computer for business.

Data from CIRP also reveals that personal use of Macs has slightly declined over the past five years but remains the primary use, while education usage has trended downward. Business usage, on the other hand, has grown significantly and is now more prevalent than education.

It’s worth noting that Apple has not released a breakdown of Mac model sales in about a decade, so it’s not entirely clear where CIRP is getting its data from. However, Apple’s fourth quarter financial results for 2022, which were posted in October, showed that revenue from the Mac reached $11.5 billion, contributing to the company’s overall earning of $90.15 billion during that quarter.

In conclusion, Apple’s Mac laptops, particularly the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, have taken over as the primary growth driver for the company’s personal computer business. Apple was tipped to launch new Macs this month or the next. At last week’s quarterly earnings call, CEO Tim Cook called the product line ‘set’ for this holiday season. Additionally, the company’s CFO also added that there would be no MacBook Pro this year like last year. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the Cupertino-based tech giant will unveil its next-generation Macs early next year. He adds that the company aims to introduce MacBook Pros in the first quarter of 2023. This seems highly unusual considering Apple does not launch products between January to March. 

Apple launched the Mac Studio earlier in March this year. Hence, the next-generation 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros powered by the upgraded M2 processor are expected to debut in the first half of March. The devices will succeed last year’s models. Gurman adds that the launches have been tied to the upcoming macOS Ventura 13.3 and iOS 16.3. Those software updates are expected to roll out between early February and the beginning of March. 

Gurman says “When I first reported on the new MacBook Pros in June, I said that Apple was aiming for a release between the end of 2022 and early 2023, so I wouldn’t consider a March release to be late by any means”

The report also adds that the iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 updates are expected to be released around mid-December. Apple had earlier hoped to include the MacBook Pro as a part of those releases, but it doesn’t make much sense. Alongside the new MacBooks, Apple will also likely introduce the M2-powered Mac Mini and Apple Silicone Mac Pro.

Apple is apparently planning on launching additional models from its MacBook Pro series and Mac mini series of PCs. The company has been rumored to be working on a new MacBook Pro model for some time now, and the latest report hints at the upcoming Mac mini model’s launch as well.

The news arrives from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who shared the information on his Power On newsletter. Reportedly, the Cupertino based giant is still working on the first Mac Pro mode that features Apple Silicon, which is expected to launch with the “M2 Ultra” and “M2 Extreme” chipsets that are rumored to be around two to four times faster than the M2 Max model. Furthermore, the Mac Pro model will have up to a whopping 256GB of RAM, around 76 to 152 graphics cores, and even 24 to 48 CPU cores as well.

Apart from this, Gurman stated that the 13 inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air will both have the same M2 processor as the upcoming Mac mini model. As of right now, the iPhone maker is supposedly testing an M2 Pro chip with more cores inside the new Mac mini. Unfortunately, Gurman did not reveal any other finer details regarding this new Mac mini model. Although, he did state that the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini PCs will launch sometime “within the next few months.”

However, he also added that the new Mac Pro will not be launching until the next year. This news is in line with our previous report. Earlier this week, we covered a new report that claimed that Apple is gearing up to launch new 14 inch MacBook Pros and 16 inch MacBook Pro next month in November 2022. So, we can expect the 13 inch variant to also be announced soon after the larger variants hit the market.

Apple has apparently overestimated the demand for its M2 Pro and M2 Max series of chipsets for its 2022 MacBook Pro laptops and is now slashing orders for the new processors. The orders have been cut down by around 30 percent.

The news arrives from known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who stated that the Cupertino based giant has misjudged the demand for its 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models for this year. The analyst added that the brand has sent notes to its suppliers that to cut orders up to 30 percent. This is a sizeable fall in production orders even before the release of the 2022 MacBook Pros. Kuo added that the iPhone maker is seeing a fall in demand following the boost in demand caused by work from home.

In a note to clients Kuo said that “Apple cuts shipment forecasts for new 14″ & 16″ MacBook Pro by 20 to 30% before mass production, and it’s a structural risk to the high end ABF & Mini LED sectors. The only major upgrade for the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pros is the new processor, and limited new selling points may also be the reason for the lower than expected demand.”

In simpler terms, it appears that the actual demand for the MacBook has been lower than expected recently, and it is not just limited to the higher end MacBook Pro models. As of right now, the company is expected to announced the 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro 2022 models sometime next month in October. Although, the exact release date is still unknown at the moment.

Now, Apple has confirmed that the new 13-inch MacBook Pro will be available for pre-orders starting on 17th June and will start shipping on 24th June. The order can be placed through apple.com, the Apple Store app, and through Apple Authorized Resellers.

In terms of design, the new version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro mostly remains unchanged compared to its predecessor. It still comes with a Touch Bar at the top of the keyboard, a feature that has been removed from the 14-inch and 16-inch models.

Under the hood, the laptop is powered by the Apple M2 processor which is built on the second-generation 5m process. It is claimed to offer an 18 percent faster CPU, a 35 percent more powerful GPU, and a 40 percent faster Neural Engine.

Apple says that with a faster 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, working with RAW images in Affinity Photo is nearly 40 percent faster than the previous generation, and up to 3.4x faster for users who are upgrading from a model without Apple Silicon.

It features a 13.3-inch Retina display, with a P3 wide color gamut and TrueTone technology with up to 500 nits of brightness. At the top of the screen, there’s a 720p FaceTime HD camera, making it the lowest resolution webcam in the entire MacBook series product.

Unlike the new MacBook Air, this laptop does not come with support for a MagSafe charger.  Instead, there are two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports for both charging and peripherals. As for the battery life, it offers up to 20 hours of video playback on a single charge.

Apple’s M1 series of silicon processors not only exists in its Mac Minis and Macbooks but also resides on the company’s iPads as well. Thus, a cybersecurity vulnerability in the SoC could lead to many modern Apple products being affected if they were to be targeted by a malicious attack.

And after announcing the company’s new M2 silicon processors at Apple WWDC 2022, news broke out that the Apple M1 silicon has been compromised in the cybersecurity department. And as both MacWorld and 9to5Mac quoted MIT researchers, the newly discovered security flaw defeats the last line of security of the M1 SoC and cannot be patched via software updates.

The highly concerning security vulnerability in M1 is named “PACMAN” because it defeats the M1’s Pointer Authentication Code (PAC) system. 

MacWorld explains that pointer authentication is a security feature that helps protect the CPU against an attacker that has gained memory access. Pointers store memory addresses, and pointer authentication code checks for unexpected pointer changes caused by an attack. In its research, MIT CSAIL created “PACMAN,” an attack that can find the correct value to successfully pass pointer authentication, so a hacker can continue with access to the computer.

Macworld quotes an MIT article with MIT CSAIL’s Joseph Ravichandran, who is the co-lead author of a paper explaining PACMAN, “When pointer authentication was introduced, a whole category of bugs suddenly became a lot harder to use for attacks. With PACMAN making these bugs more serious, the overall attack surface could be a lot larger.”

According to MIT CSAIL, since its PACMAN attack involves a hardware device, a software patch won’t fix the problem. The issue is a wider problem with ARM processors that use Pointer Authentication, not just Apple’s M1. “Future CPU designers should take care to consider this attack when building the secure systems of tomorrow,” Ravichandran wrote. “Developers should take care to not solely rely on pointer authentication to protect their software.”

MIT was able to perform the PACMAN attack remotely. The team mentions that they actually did all their experiments over the network on a machine in another room, as they described “PACMAN works just fine remotely if you have unprivileged code execution.”

Macworld reports that Apple is aware of MIT CSAIL’s findings and issued the following statement: “We want to thank the researchers for their collaboration as this proof of concept advances our understanding of these techniques. Based on our analysis as well as the details shared with us by the researchers, we have concluded this issue does not pose an immediate risk to our users and is insufficient to bypass operating system security protections on its own.”

Apple supplier, Quanta, is apparently planning to resume production in a staggered manner for the MacBook Pro notebooks from its plant in Shanghai, China. Notably, the news arrives after the region saw a lockdown.

According to a DigiTimes report, sources close to the matter stated that the supplier of the Cupertino based giant is seeing higher order pull ins from its production site in Shanghai. In other words, the production of MacBook Pro models will likely rise in the near future, which should also imply that lead times for Apple customers will also be shorter. For those unaware, the delivery time of the new MacBook Pro models has been stretched following lockdowns in China in recent weeks.

As per known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Quanta is the sole supplier of the company’s MacBook Pros. Thus, the delivery times for the higher end laptops rose by around three to five weeks due to the lockdowns in China. Meanwhile, some MacBook Pro configurations are not even available for delivery until late June 2022 or possibly till early July 2022.

While the production of the MacBook Pros is slowly resuming again, supply issues are still expected to affect the product sales for the third quarter of this year. Just last week, Apple had also stated that lockdowns in China, rising price of raw materials, and even shortages of semiconductors have made it difficult for the company to keep up with the high market demand.

A new report has just revealed interesting information regarding the future PC plans of Apple. Apparently, the company is testing a number of new Mac models, which will be powered by different variants of its next gen M2 chipset.

According to a Bloomberg report, developer logs showed that the Cupertino based giant is currently working on at least nine new Macs that will be equipped with four new variants of the M2 chipset. For those unaware, the M2 chip is the successor of the M1, which was the iPhone maker’s first proprietary processor that was based on the ARM architecture. And now, it seems that the brand is developing a M2 chip, the M2 Pro, the M2 Max, and possibly even a successor to the M1 Ultra as well.

Out of the nine upcoming Macs, Apple might be working on a MacBook Air with an M2 chip that features an 8 core CPU and a 10 core GPU. Apart from this, a new Mac mini is also in the works that will house a variant of the upcoming M2 Pro chipset. Furthermore, the company is also internally testing a new entry level 13 inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip, along with 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pro models that feature M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. The M2 Max CPU consists of a 12 core GPU and 38 core GPU paired with 64GB of memory.

The report adds that there is also a Mac Pro in the pipeline, which will house the successor to the M1 Ultra that made its debut in the Mac Studio. Notably, Bloomberg stated that the internal testing phase is a “key step” in the development process, so the new PCs might be released within the arriving months. We have been hearing a lot about the upcoming Apple devices for the past few weeks and now yet another report claims that the company is all set to launch the next-generation Apple Silicon’s M2 chipset.

Not just that, the report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter also goes on to add that with the introduction of the M2 chipset, the company will be launching four new Mac devices this year.

The Macs expected to get launched later this year include the 13-inch MacBook Pro, a 24-inch iMac, and a redesigned MacBook Air. As noted all these devices will be updated to the M2 chipset as all of them are already powered by the M1 processor.

Currently there’s not much known about the M2 chipset and nothing has been revealed by Apple but the report indicates that the M2 will be slightly faster than the M2 chipset and will have the same eight-core architecture but the graphics cores may get increased from seven or either to nine or 10.

It is also said that the Cupertino-based tech giant may launch the Pro and Max version of the M2 chip next year, similar to what the company did with the M1 chipset. Also, it is also expected to launch the M3 chip next year.

Apple is moving away from Intel-powered Mac devices to its own Apple Silicon and to complete the process, the company is expected to launch a new 27-inch iMac Pro which will be powered by the M1 Pro or M1 Max processor. There are also reports about the M1-powered Mac Mini to get a Pro model powered by M1 Pro or M1 Max, in addition to a new model powered by the M2 chipset.

Apple is apparently looking to unveil a number of its products with a new redesign next year. A new report has suggested that the company is working on a refreshed design for its iPad Pro, high end iMacs, Mac Pro, and more products as well.

The news arrives from the latest Power On newsletter from Mark Gurman (Via 9to5Mac). In this report, Gurman shared information regarding the upcoming launches from Apple for 2022. The Cupertino based giant is apparently planning to launch a new iPad Pro design that features built in support for wireless charging. The changes doesn’t end there for the iPad family, as even the iPad Air and base iPad models will receive an update as well.

Furthermore, Gurman claimed that the iPhone maker will be releasing a redesigned MacBook Air next year, which will be launched next to a “revamped, high end iMac with Apple Silicon.” Alongside these, the company also aims on a new entry level MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, and even an updates Mac mini sometime for next year. Arriving at wearables, the brand is reportedly seeking to launch three new models of its Apple Watch. This would include the base model, the SE variant, and even a ruggedized version as well for athletes and adventure sports enthusiasts.

Other notable information shared by Gurman in the newsletter include, an iPhone SE with 5G support that is slated to launch next year. Additionally, the annual flagship iPhone 14 series launch, and the release of its highly anticipated first mixed augmented (AR/VR) headset as well. Apple is apparently planning on shipping its newer models of iPad Pro and MacBook Pro with a new OLED panel. This new screen technology would enable the tablet and laptops to offer even higher brightness than existing models.

According to TheElec, the upcoming iPad Pro and MacBook Pros from the Cupertino based giant will sport a new double stack OLED panel that features two layers of light emitting diodes that could offer double the brightness over previous generation. Unfortunately, this new display technology will not be arriving anytime soon since the manufacturing process for the panels are still not fully developed and the screen is too expensive at the moment.

Additionally, sources close to the matter have revealed that first units with the new display will not arrive till at least 2023 or even 2024. The sources further added that the price of the panels would allow the iPhone maker to used those only on the larger 11 inch and 12.09 inch iPad Pro models and even MacBook Pro notebooks as well. These displays are also expected to feature LTPO tech for the TFT and could even offer control over the refresh rate. Meaning, variable refresh rate on the panel that can be anywhere between 10Hz and 120Hz.

Apart from the new OLED screens, Apple is also look to delve even deeper into micro LED displays for its future products. Currently, it is reported that the company is already investing in the research and development of the newer display technology and aims to replace the OLED panels for various benefits that it would offer.

The 2021 MacBook Pro’s from Apple arrived with a significant change in design as they featured a new notch display on the front. But it seems that this notch has caused users to face issues with certain apps on their laptop, which had prompted the company to release a new support document that addresses these issues.

For those unaware, users of the latest MacBook Pro have been facing issues with the weird behavior of certain Mac apps that have yet to be optimized for the notch display. So while the power of the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips have been well received, the laptops in general have been offering an inconsistent experience. But now, the Cupertino based giant has released a new support document to offer a workaround for there problems.

In the recently published support document, the company highlighted the “Scale to fit below built-in camera” settings option for an app. This setting stops the apps that haven’t been optimized for the new MacBook pro’s notch display from working in an unintended manner. Some of the possible erratic behaviors include menu bar items or windows appearing behind the camera housing that would hide it. Meanwhile, the other apps that share the same desktop space as the adjusted app will also appear below the camera until the app using this scaled setting has been exited.

The setting is built into the macOS and will remain as an available option for certain apps that have yet to receive optimization for the new MacBook Pros. In other words, the settings will disappear when the company officially updates these apps to better support the new notch display.

While Apple had recently unveiled its latest generation of MacBook Pro and AirPods, it had planned on launching the new products in India today (26th October 2021). However, it seems that the company faced certain issues that caused it to delay the arrival of the new gadgets.

The new products include the 14 inch and 16 inch versions of the 2021 MacBook Pro that feature the latest M1 Max and M1 Pro chipsets. Alongside the laptops, the Cupertino based giant had also announced its third generation of AirPods TWS earbuds earlier this month. Now, the two products were set to launch on October 26, but the company has shifted availability to a new date of October 29.

The new launch date was spotted on an updated listing on Apple’s official Indian website. Unfortunately, the iPhone maker has yet to reveal the reason for the delay, so we can assume that it was some unforeseen issue prior to the launch. On the other hand, the new MacBook Pro and AirPods 3 are still on schedule to launch on 26th October 2021 in the US market.

For those unaware, the 2021 MacBook Pro 14 inch variant starts in India for a price of 1,94,900 INR (roughly 2,600 US Dollars) while the 16 inch model costs a 2,39,900 INR (roughly 3,200 US Dollars). In comparison, the 14 inch model in the US costs just 1,999 US Dollars. Similarly, the third generation of AirPods is available in India for 18,500 INR (roughly 250 US Dollars) while its US pricing is 179 US Dollars.

Apple had been rumored to launch new MacBook Pro laptops with a notch on the display. The recent launch of the latest MacBooks confirmed this rumor, although, a 2020 patent from the company has revealed that the notch design had been in the plans but with additional functionality.

The patent in question was first spotted by PatentlyApple back in March 2020 and showcased future iMac and MacBook Pro with a notch that appeared similar to the notch on iPhones. While the newly launched MacBook Pros feature a notch that houses its front facing camera, TrueTone sensor, and other sensors, it does not offer any form of biometric authentication based system like Face ID.

However, the patent describes the Macs with Face ID support on their notches. As per the patent, this system enabled the device to capture “face gestures and emotions, video chatting, generating emoji, encrypting data, unlocking the computing device, supplementing passwords, differentiating different users, and the like.” In other words, the newly launched MacBook Pros might have been initially slated to support Face ID as well, but it seems that the feature will likely be included in future iterations of the notebook.

The new MacBook Pro laptops have a notch, a design that was copied from the iPhone series. However, unlike the iPhones whose notch houses not only a front-facing camera but other components for Face ID, the notch on the MacBook Pro doesn’t have components for a biometric scanner. So why is it there and why is it that wide? Actually, there are a couple of other components alongside the 1080p webcam.

A photo has surfaced on the web and it is of the camera module for the Macbook Pro. Posted by Twitter user David Pogue (@Pogue), the photo shows that there is more than just a 1080p camera on the module.

As seen in the photo, there is a component flanking the 1080p camera on the left while an LED is on the right. The component on the left is the TrueTone and ambient light sensors. The former measures ambient light color and brightness and uses the information to automatically adjust the white balance of the display to match the environment. Apple‘s TrueTone technology made its debut on the 2016 iPad Pro and is now available on the iPhones and MacBooks.

The light sensor adjusts the brightness of the display as well as the keyboard’s backlight based on ambient light while the LED on the right of the camera is the camera indicator light that comes on when the camera is in use. All of these components were previously “hidden” by the bezel but are now visible since it has trimmed the bezels for more screen estate.

If Apple were to include the components for Face ID, the notch will be a bit wider. It has been able to shrink the Face ID module on the iPhone 13 series by moving the dot projector from the edge to the middle and combining it with the flood illuminator into a single module. So along with that and the infrared camera, that’s two more components to add to the existing ones on the MacBook Pro.

Sure, it could pack Face ID into the MacBook Pro and keep the bezel but with the bezel significantly reduced, the area occupied by this module now digs into the screen.

Apple fans can finally rejoice as the long-awaited new MacBook Pro laptops have arrived with incredibly powerful processors….and a notch. Yes, Apple has brought over the notch on the iPhones to its computers but not for the reason you expect.

The new MacBook Pro computers are powered by two new Apple processors – the M1 Pro and the M1 Max. The two new processors have 10 cores but the M1 Max is the more powerful one.

Apple M1 Pro and Apple M1 Max

The Apple M1 Pro has up to 10-core CPU (8 high-performance CPU cores and 2 high-efficiency cores) and up to 16-core GPU. Apple says it has 33.7 billion transistors and a memory bandwidth of 200GB/s.

The Apple M1 Max has up to 32-core GPU, a memory bandwidth of 400GB/s, and 57 billion transistors. It can also be configured with up to 64GB of unified memory while the M1 Pro can be configured with up to 32GB of unified memory.

Apple claims the new processors bring up to 13x faster graphics performance, 3.7x faster CPU performance, 11x faster machine learning, and up to 21 hours of battery life. Apple also claims they deliver more performance and consume less power than a discrete PC laptop graphics and a compact pro laptop with a high-performing discrete GPU.

MacBook Pro 14” and 16”

The new MacBook Pro is available in two sizes – 14” and 16”. They both have a 120Hz ProMotion mini-LED display a.k.a. Liquid Retina XDR display with slimmer bezels and a notch for a 1080p camera. Sorry to disappoint you but Face ID isn’t coming to MacBooks, at least not this year. The 14” version has a 14.2” screen with a 3024 x 1964 resolution while the 16” version has a 16.2” screen with a 3456 x 2234 resolution.

While Apple has added a notch, it has removed the touchbar and replaced it with physical keys. There is a MagSafe three-port but you can also charge the computers through one of the Thunderbolt 4 ports. There is also an HDMI port, headphone jack, and an SDXC card slot. The new MacBooks pack six speakers (four force-canceling woofers and two high-performance tweeters) with spatial audio.

The MacBook Pro 14” starts at $1999 for the base model with an M1 Pro chipset that has an 8-core CPU and a 14-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. The 10-core CPU version with the same RAM, 1TB SSD, and a 96W USB-C Power Adapter is priced at $2499.

The 16” model starts at $2499 for the base configuration with a 10-core M1 Pro processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD storage, a 140W USB-C power adapter. An extra $200 gets you 1TB of storage while an additional $1000 gets you the M1 Max with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD. There are multiple configurations to choose from and you can choose a model with up to 64GB of RAM.

Both laptops are available in Silver and Space Gray. Pre-orders are open today and they will be available next week.

The 96W USB Type C power adapter that is designed for the 16 inch Apple MacBook Pro is suffering from long delivery times, with shipping estimates showing a sizeable 2 to 3 months of time.

The long shipping estimate was spotted by MacRumors on the Cupterino based giant’s official online store in the US. Notably, the 2 to 3 month long shipping period was also reflected on the brand’s various other online stores in multiple countries. As of right now, the adapter is also listed as unavailable for in store pickup at most of the Apple retail stores across the globe. Initially, the 2 to 3 month long shipping delay first appeared in certain regions like Japan.

But now, the issue has extended to include more countries as well. The news also arrives as the brand is rumored to be gearing up for the launch of the redesigned 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pro models later this year. In other words, the true reason for the shipping delay for the 96W MacBook Pro charger is unknown at the moment. The 96W charger was usually sold with the 16 inch MacBook Pro since the notebook initially launched back in 2019. Although, it is also available separately as well.

Notably, the company’s smaller 20W, 30W, and 61W power adapters are not facing a similar issue currently in the US. But a source from one of the Apple Authorized Reseller has informer MacRumors that the distributor has no stock of the 96W charger and are facing significant supply issues across multiple channels.

Recently, we had reported on rumors that suggested that Apple might be planning on removing the Touch Bar from its MacBook Pro lineup entirely. While the next gen MacBook is still a while away, a new concept render has just surfaced, which replaces the Touch Bar with a Pencil dock.

According to a PatentlyApple report, the US Patent and Trademark Office published a new patent from the Cupertino based giant that depicts a MacBook Pro with a Pencil dock rather than a Touch Bar. This dock is housed exactly where a Touch Bar would be placed, which is right above the keyboard. The dock is also built into the laptop so it can be closed while a Pencil is placed there. Apparently, the Pencil dock could also have the company replace the Top F key row with the functional symbols being illuminated on the Pencil itself.

Furthermore, designer Sarang Sheth (Via 9To5Mac) made 3D concept render models of this patent to showcase the design in more detail. Looking at these renders, one can observe that the new MacBook Pro would features touch gestures with the inclusion of the Pencil but it will also feature a much smaller version of the Touch Bar for Siri and quick access to certain applications as well.

Unfortunately, this is still just a patent as of right now and we have no way of knowing if Apple is actually planning on having a Pencil dock on its next gen MacBook Pro models. Although, it does confirm that the iPhone maker has considered the idea of removing the Touch Bar in favor of another system. So stay tuned for more updates.

Last year, Apple announced its all-new M1 chipset as a part of Apple Silicon, the company’s own lineup of processors based on ARM architecture. After that, the tech giant has launched a few Mac devices powered by the M1 chipset. Ever since that, there have been rumors about the new MacBooks powered by a new M1X chipset.

In the latest development, new MacBook models powered by the upcoming M1X chipset have appeared in Eurasian Economic Commission filings. The listing was first spotted by Consomac for two devices with model numbers A2442 and A2485.

It’s noteworthy that there are several models in the listing but most of them are simply related to the updates for the upcoming macOS coming this fall. Only two of the model numbers — A2442 and A2485 are new and don’t match existing inventory from the brand.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has suggested that Apple is still on track to launch new Mac devices powered by the M1X chipset in the coming months. He adds that soon after that, the Cupertino-based giant could launch a new high-end Mac Mini, followed by a new iMac and Mac Pro next year.

For those who are unaware, the upcoming Apple MacBook Pro models are expected to come with an all-new design and two display options — 14-inch and 16-inch, featuring a Mini-LED screen. They are expected to feature a flat-edged design, a MagSafe charging port, and a few more ports, including HDMI and an SD-card slot reader.

Recently, it was reported that the new MacBook devices could be officially announced in September this year and could go on sale in October. To know for sure, we will have to wait and watch for new leaks or any announcement from the company.

Recently, various rumors and reports regarding the upcoming Apple MacBook Pro has surfaced. Now, a report from known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that the company will be launching its redesigned MacBook Pro later this year, which will feature Mini LED displays.

According to a 9To5Mac report, the analyst claims that the Cupertino based giant will begin the production of the new 14 inch and 16 inch MacBook Pros in the third quarter of this year. Furthermore, Kuo also stated that the brand has been investing in Mini LED display panels, which it is seeking to include in more products in the future. In other words, the latest MacBook Pro launching this year might feature Mini LED displays.

Earlier this year, Apple had launched the 12.9 inch iPad Pro, which was the company’s first Mini LED device. Mini LED display is basically comprised of thousands of really small LEDs in the backlight, which enables it to offer higher contrast ratio and deeper blacks like OLED panels. As per previous reports from Kuo, the new MacBook Pro will have a flat edged design along with a more powerful M1X chip.

The analyst also added that the Mini LED panel that will be featured on the MacBook Pros will also arrive in another model of the company’s notebooks. In 2022, this display technology will also arrive in the next generation of MacBook Air, which is also rumored to feature the company’s M2 chip that will have a more advanced GPU. Keep in mind, this is still an unconfirmed report so take this news with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more updates.
