<p>According to a <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2022/01/28/macos-12-3-hints-at-ultra-wideband-technology-coming-to-macs/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>9To5Mac</em> </a>report, the latest beta version of its macOS 12 arrives with frameworks and daemons that are needed to support ultra wideband technology. Furthermore, these same tools are already in used to provide UWB support on iOS devices with the U1 chip. Talking about the technology itself, ultra wideband technology is a short range wireless communication protocol that is utilized for space awareness. Through this, multiple devices that support UWB are able to locate one another.</p>
<p>The Cupertino based giant first introduced this technology back in 2019 with the iPhone 11. Soon after, newly launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-watch/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple Watch</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/homepod-mini/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">HomePod mini</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-airtags/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AirTags</a> also supported this technology. And now, Apple might be bringing this feature to its Macs as well. As of right now, the iPad still does not feature UWB technology, so Macs receiving this feature before an iPad might seem unlikely. But the framework in macOS 12.3 suggests that the brand are at least experimenting on this technology with its PC lineup.</p>

<p>At the moment, the company is expected to be preparing for a special event in spring. During this event, Apple is likely unveiling new products and technologies, so we might even hear more about its plans with UWB tech in this conference. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.</p>

Since then, the company had been fine-tuning the system in the beta phase and it finally released the stable version last week.</p>
<p>However, even after beta testing the new operating system for months, there&#8217;s an issue with the macOS 12 Monterey stable build as it is bricking older Macs for some of the users, who are unable to power their Macs, <a href="https://www.macrumors.com/2021/11/01/macos-monterey-bricking-older-macs/">reports <em>MacRumors</em></a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-417353 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macOS-featured.jpg?x44794" alt="macOS-featured" width="1450" height="737" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macOS-featured.jpg 1450w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macOS-featured-300x152.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macOS-featured-768x390.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macOS-featured-1024x520.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macOS-featured-696x354.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macOS-featured-1068x543.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macOS-featured-826x420.jpg 826w" sizes="(max-width: 1450px) 100vw, 1450px" /></p>
<p>There are a number of such complaints from users on social media and online forums claiming that they are unable to even turn on the device, making them useless. They say that when they attempt to update their Mac device to ‌<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/macos">macOS</a> Monterey‌, the device goes completely black and is not powering On after that.</p>
<p>It isn&#8217;t the first that Apple is facing this issue with the newer version of the macOS released for the users. Last year, with the release of macOS Big Sur, users were complaining about similar issues that bricked the older <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-macbook-pro">MacBook Pro</a> models.</p>
<p>Currently, it seems that the issue isn&#8217;t as widespread as the macOS Big Sur issue last year but still it is affecting a number of users. The issue is limited to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/intel">Intel</a>-powered Mac devices, especially the MacBook Pro, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/11/apples-latest-mac-mini-packs-an-m1-chip-macos-big-sur-starts-at-699/">Mac Mini</a>, and iMac.</p>
<p>Apple is currently testing macOS 12.1, but that update isn&#8217;t expected to be released for a few weeks. Meanwhile, the company could release a minor update fixing this issue but we are yet to hear anything from the company. With Apple messing up a major <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/update">OS update</a> a second time, Mac users should now be more cautious and wait for some time before updating their older Mac device.</p>

A range of new Apple devices are expected to get launched including the new M1X-powered MacBook Pro and Mac mini. There are also talks about the next-gen AirPods 3 being announced as well.</p>

<p>Alongside the hardware, we might finally hear about macOS Monterey stable &#8211; its first preview went live back on June 7 and it was expected to roll out widely in late-2021.</p>
<p>The list of product launches to expect with the event has been given below along with when and how you can watch it.</p>
<h4><strong>MacBook Pro 2021 models</strong></h4>
<p>While Apple&#8217;s September event focused big on the new iPhone 13 series, this month&#8217;s &#8216;Unleashed&#8217; event is all about the new MacBook Pros. They&#8217;re expected to come with new 14-inch and 16-inch Mini-LED displays with taller 14:9 aspect ratios. A refresh rate of 120Hz is also expected.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-419587 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macbook-pro-2021-renders-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="macbook pro 2021 renders" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macbook-pro-2021-renders-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macbook-pro-2021-renders-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macbook-pro-2021-renders-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macbook-pro-2021-renders-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macbook-pro-2021-renders-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macbook-pro-2021-renders-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/macbook-pro-2021-renders.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>There are talks about the new MacBooks being powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/18/apple-m1-pro-m1-max-chipset-macbook-pro/">M1 Pro and M1 Max chips</a>, although it&#8217;s only a rumor and Apple might choose to stick with the M1X naming scheme.</p>
<p>Apart from this, the Macs will be sporting <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/16/apple-macbook-pro-14-16-possible-designs-revealed-by-latest-renders/">extremely slim bezels</a> &#8211; so slim that Apple will be doing away with the familiar &#8220;MacBook Pro&#8221; text that usually sits in the bottom bezel.</p>
<p>The MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models are said to come with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.</p>
<h4><strong>New Mac mini</strong></h4>
<p>Apple is apparently working on a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/08/24/apple-mac-mini-m1x-launch-fall/">more powerful Mac mini</a> that will use the same processor as the upcoming MacBook Pro. It&#8217;ll have four ports instead of the two on the current low-end model, and it&#8217;ll be priced higher than the current entry-level M1 Mac mini. It could be labeled &#8216;Pro&#8217;.</p>
<h4><strong>AirPods 3</strong></h4>
<p>An image of the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/14/apple-airpods-3-expected-launch-18-october/">AirPods 3</a> has <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/23/apple-airpods-3-appear-in-an-live-image-ahead-of-september-launch/">already leaked online</a>, which reveals the earphones’ design which seems to be inspired by the Pro variant. The earbuds will come with a short stem and a sensor, as well as a microphone on the front.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-377199 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237-1024x884.jpg?x44794" alt="Edifier" width="696" height="601" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237-1024x884.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237-300x259.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237-768x663.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237-534x462.jpg 534w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237-696x601.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237-1068x922.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237-486x420.jpg 486w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/20210305_171755_237.jpg 1188w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>Internally, it is also expected to come powered by a new chipset and is said to support Apple Music Lossless Audio. Additionally, the earbuds are expected to come with improved battery life performance compared to the AirPods 2.</p>
<p>There’s also a possibility that the next-generation AirPods may come with support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/anc">Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)</a>.</p>
<p>However, if Apple doesn&#8217;t launch the new AirPods 3 with the event, then we can expect a press release later this month or next month.</p>
<h4><strong>macOS Monterey</strong></h4>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/06/08/apple-ios-15-ipados-15-watchos-8-macos-monterey-eligible-supported-devices/">latest version of the OS</a> that powers Apple&#8217;s desktop and laptops was announced alongside iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and watchOS 8 at WWDC 2021 in June. But unlike the rest, it hasn&#8217;t yet been released. Its latest preview went live on October 13 but it&#8217;s likely that the new MacBook Pros will be shipped with the new macOS version out-of-the-box.</p>

<p>Last November, Apple announced <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/10/apple-announces-new-macbook-air-and-macbook-13-pro-with-apple-m1-chipset/">the first set of Macs</a> powered by its <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/apple-m1">M1 chip</a>. While it promised that it will continue to support those powered by Intel chips for years to come, this new development means that these devices will miss out on certain features available on those powered by Apple chips.</p>
<p>Here are the macOS Monterey features not coming to the Intel Macsas reported by <em><a href="https://www.theverge.com/2021/6/9/22526224/macos-monterey-best-features-macs-intel-m1-exclusive">The Verge</a></em>:</p>
