Earlier this month, Huawei began EMUI 11 Beta program for the 2019’s P-flagship, P30/P30 Pro devices. Today, the company has extended the program to 14 other devices all of them powered by the same SoC.

As MyDriver reports, Huawei has announced Open Beta for various Huawei and Honor older flagships and tablets. The program brings EMUI 11 based on Android 10 to the Huawei and Magic UI 4.0 for Honor devices. You can take a look at the list below:

It’s worth noting that the devices above have already got the closed Beta of the EMUI 11 and Magic UI 4.0 respectively. Interestingly, they are powered by Huawei’s Kirin 980 SoC that is two years old.

Despite being a very old CPU, it is built on the 7nm process which still other companies use on their chipsets. And it is the world’s first 7nm chipset with dedicated NPUs(Neural Processing Unit). Besides, it is good to see Huawei updating older chipsets despite missing Android 11 features and Google Mobile Services due to the US ban.

Anyway, the current Beta is for the Chinese market and as usual, users will have to go to the Huawei Club to sign up for it. Precisely, you can follow the steps below to get the latest update:

  • Open Huawei Club App -> Forum -> right corner ->㗊 ->EMUI Area ->Beta Program.
• using a PC,
  • Huawei Club website->section->EMUI->Beta program

Having said that, the devices above which launched Globally will get the update by Q1 of 2021 according to the company’s timeline. Assuming the stable update rolls for the public beta users by next month in China, global users expect it to arrive soon after that.

However, there is no definite date yet and we suggest you wait for the company to state it officially. Meanwhile, you can look at the latest features of the EMUI 11 that was announced back at HDC 2020 in September.

Last week, at HUAWEI DEVELOPER CONFERENCE (HDC) 2020, the company announced EMUI 11 as the latest version of Android skin. Unfortunately, it is based on Android 10 due to the US ban as the Chinese telecom giant could not work with Google. Anyway, it did promise to bring select Android 11 features in the future. That said, EMUI 11 Closed Beta was made available for 10 devices on the day of its announcement. Now, as promised, it opens closed beta recruitment for 9 more devices.

All the first batch of EMUI 11 Close Beta devices were HUAWEI-branded smartphones and tablets. But the second batch whose closed beta registrations have now gone live in China include 5 HONOR smartphones and 4 HUAWEI smartphones.

HONOR devices run a tweaked version of EMUI called Magic UI. Hence, the EMUI 11 update for eligible HONOR devices will come as Magic UI 4.0. The HONOR devices included in the second batch of closed beta rollout will be the first to get the latest version of Magic UI.

Huawei is currently recruiting closed beta testers for the above-mentioned devices only in China. The company is yet to announce the Closed Beta program for global markets.
