Honor expanded its MagicBook line yesterday with the launch of the Intel version of the MagicBook 15. However, that was not the only new computer that was unveiled. It also announced a new color variant for the MagicBook Pro, its 16.1-inch notebook.

The MagicBook Pro was originally available in Glacier Silver and Starry Gray when it was announced back in September. Now, buyers have one more color option called Starfish Blue to choose from. Sadly, the color variant is limited to one configuration – the Ryzen 5 edition with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

Honor is asking for ¥4799 (~$685) for the new color variant and will ship pre-orders with a free Honor backpack and Bluetooth mouse. The notebook will be available for purchase starting January 8, 2020, on Vmall, JD.com, and TMall.

The MagicBook Pro has a 16.1-inch screen with an FHD resolution and a 90% screen-to-body-ratio thanks to its 4.9 millimeters thin side and top bezels.

It also has NFC, a fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band WiFi. For ports, the notebook has 3 x USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, a microphone + audio jack combo port, and a USB-C power input port with support for 65W charging. It packs a 56Wh battery that charges up to 70% in 1 hour and takes 2.5 hours to fully charge.

The Honor MagicBook 15 Pro ships with Windows 10 Home along with Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition 2019. It also has a feature called Magic-Link 2.0 that allows for file transfer (up to 30MB/s) between a compatible phone and the computer. A connection is established between the two devices just by touching the phone against the NFC area of the computer.

Honor announced the Honor MagicBook Pro Ryzen Edition powered by the Ryzen 5 3550H and Ryzen 7 3750H processors today. The new models share the same design as the 8th-gen Intel version that was announced back in July but replace the CPU inside with AMD’s Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 series. The specs of the new model also remain the same. So the notebooks come with a 16.1-inch FHD display with slim bezels, SSDs, Bluetooth 5.0, Fingerprint scanner, dual-antenna Gigabit WLAN, and support for Magic Link 2.0.

Honor MagicBook Pro 16.1 Ryzen Edition Pricing is as follows: 

There are four versions in the Ryzen edition MagicBook Pro, starting at $657.

• Ryzen 5 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD – 4699 Yuan ($657)
• Ryzen 5 + 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD – 5199 Yuan ($727)
• Ryzen 7 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD – 5199 Yuan ($727)

There’s a special linux edition as well featuring Ryzen 5.

• Ryzen 5 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD + Linux – 4399 Yuan ($615)

Honor MagicBook Pro 16.1 Ryzen Edition Availability:

The Windows-powered Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 models go on sale from September 23 in China. The Linux powered version with Ryzen 5 goes on sale from September 30.

As you can see, the Honor MagicBook Pro 16.1 Ryzen Edition comes in as a cheaper alternative to its Intel-powered siblings.

In comparison, the pricing of the 8th gen Intel-powered MagicBook Pro models that were announced back in July 2019 was as follows.

Honor not only announced new phones today but also announced a new computer. The new PC is the Honor MagicBook Pro Ryzen Edition.

The Honor MagicBook Pro was first announced back in July with Intel’s 8th Gen processor on board. Honor has now announced a Ryzen Edition powered by the Ryzen 5 3550H and Ryzen 7 3750H processors.

Honor’s MagicBook Pro Ryzen Edition has the same design as the Intel version, so you still get a 16.1-inch FHD display with slim bezels, Magic Link 2.0, PCIe SSD, DDR4 RAM, Bluetooth 5.0, Fingerprint scanner, and dual-antenna Gigabit WLAN, etc.

The MagicBook Pro Ryzen Edition is available in four variants:

1. Ryzen 5 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD
2. Ryzen 5 + 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD
3. Ryzen 7 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD
4. Ryzen 5 + 8GB RAM + 512GB + Linux

The base model (Ryzen 5) is priced at ¥4699 (~$657) and is available in Glacier Silver. If you want more RAM, you can pick up the 16GB RAM version for ¥5199 (~$727). The Ryzen 7 Edition with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is also priced at ¥5199 (~$727). All three will only come in Glacier Silver and will be available for purchase starting September 23. The Linux version (Ryzen 5 + 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD) sells for ¥4399 (~$615) and will be available for purchase on September 30.
