<p>Smartphone manufacturers pay a lot of attention to mobile photography. Especially some brands are making efforts to improve the camera in mobile devices and are partnering with different companies. For example, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/">Xiaomi</a> is partnering with Leica.</p>

<p>As an effort of this partnership, smartphones are specially tested by both companies and not only that, they also add advanced effects for photos. Of course, you may ask whether every brand needs to partner with another company. Well, some companies may feel that they no longer need to partner and may soon decide to start their own image development company.</p>

<h2>Device manufacturers create their own imaging companies</h2>

<p>With advanced hardware, smartphones can deliver good photos, although not as good as photographic cameras. Many device manufacturers work on mobile photography and cameras are developing more and more every day.</p>

<p>Now the latest report from <a href="https://weibo.com/6048569942/O0q23DO0C">Digital Chat Station</a> surprises everyone. Some smartphone manufacturers are reportedly preparing to stop making exclusive partnerships for imaging systems and will set up their own private companies. First of all, it is not known which brand will establish its own imaging company.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="796" height="195" data-id="604540"  src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Smartphone-manufacturers-are-creating-their-own-imaging-companies-for-mobile-photography-1.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-604540" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Smartphone-manufacturers-are-creating-their-own-imaging-companies-for-mobile-photography-1.png 796w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Smartphone-manufacturers-are-creating-their-own-imaging-companies-for-mobile-photography-1-300x73.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Smartphone-manufacturers-are-creating-their-own-imaging-companies-for-mobile-photography-1-768x188.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Smartphone-manufacturers-are-creating-their-own-imaging-companies-for-mobile-photography-1-696x171.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 796px) 100vw, 796px" /><figcaption>Special imaging companies</figcaption></figure>
</figure>

<p>But we don&#8217;t think Xiaomi&#8217;s partnership with Leica will end immediately, so this could happen in the future for Xiaomi. It&#8217;s thought that Vivo or Oppo will set up their own special imaging company. Formerly, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/01/29/huawei-is-reportedly-testing-two-screen-sizes-for-the-p70-series/">Huawei ended its partnership</a> with Leica and created its own company called XMAGE. This company works to improve the photo and video quality of Huawei devices.</p>

Now, IHS Analyst, Kevin Wang has just revealed the ranking of the top Chinese smartphone manufacturers based on sales in Q2 2016. The list comes with no surprises, as Huawei is still leading the pack of Chinese companies, having sold well over 32 million phones during this period.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-91755" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-11.55.53-AM.png?x10805" alt="smartphone sales ranking q2 2016" width="604" height="255" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-11.55.53-AM.png 604w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Screen-Shot-2016-07-29-at-11.55.53-AM-300x127.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px" /></p>
<p>In the second place is OPPO, who has managed to surprise <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/05/20/oppo-overtakes-xiaomi-become-fourth-largest-smartphone-vendor-q1-2016/">us all this year with massive marketing campaigns</a> and selling nearly 22 million phones in the second quarter. Vivo is behind OPPO, filling in the third place selling 16.41 million phones. Xiaomi, who is often reffered to as Apple of China takes the fourth spot selling 15.22 million units in the same period. In the fifth place is ZTE with 13.70 million units, followed by Lenovo at sixth position with 11.12 million units, TCL at seventh place with 7.40 million units and finally, at eight place is LeEco, having sold 5.83 million units during the same period.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-91484" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/b418a7a1jw1f68gagp62bj21hc0u0te0.jpg?x10805" alt="redmi pro official" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/b418a7a1jw1f68gagp62bj21hc0u0te0.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/b418a7a1jw1f68gagp62bj21hc0u0te0-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/b418a7a1jw1f68gagp62bj21hc0u0te0-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>Things could be different in the next couple of quarters of the year, since Xiaomi just released its premium <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/27/xiaomi-redmi-pro-official-13mp-dual-cameras-helio-x25/">Redmi Pro model</a> this week, and soon we will meet top end phones like the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/28/xiaomis-mi-5-mi-note-2/">Mi Note 2 and Mi 5S</a>. So, Xiaomi could be aiming to jump a couple of places in the ranking in the coming quarters with its new high-end offerings. Meanwhile, we are still not sure what OPPO and Vivo has in store for the following quarters. OPPO seems to be preparing for the launch of the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/24/oppo-f1s-invites-indicates-august-3-launch-happening-india/"> OPPO F1S in the first week of August</a>, however, details about the phone are scarce at the moment.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/21/huawei-chinese-phone-market-q2-2016-trendforce/"> Huawei &amp; OPPO Lead Q2 2016 Smartphone Shipments In China</a></strong></p>
<p>As for Huawei, we can expect to meet the Mi Max killer, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/25/honor-note-8-release-date-revealed-pops-august-1/">Huawei Honor Note 8 phablet</a> on August 1. The new release along with existing models like <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/07/11/honor-8-official-12mp-dual-cameras-beautiful-glass-body-starts-300/">the Honor 8 </a>should ensure ample sales for the company in the coming quarters as well. Further, the company&#8217;s flagship device is said to be launching in India in the third week of August.</p>
