<p>Indian audio wearables brand <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/boat/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Boat</a> has partnered with multinational payment card services corporation Mastercard to enable contactless payments on its smartwatch devices. This collaboration aims to provide users with a more convenient and secure way to make transactions.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="825" height="595" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-02-27-024911.png?x44794" alt="boAt Wave Spectra" class="wp-image-648078" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-02-27-024911.png 825w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-02-27-024911-300x216.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-02-27-024911-768x554.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-02-27-024911-696x502.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-02-27-024911-582x420.png 582w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-02-27-024911-324x235.png 324w" sizes="(max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px" /></figure></div>

<p>Integration with contactless payments on boAt smartwatches will allow Mastercard cardholders to proceed with seamless transactions through their wearable device. Through Crest Pay, the official app of boAt, users can now tokenize their existing debit and credit cards from associated Mastercard banks in an effortless manner. Thus, they can simply tap and pay at all merchants where this facility is available, without requiring physical cards.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="592" height="709" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-09-01-031830.png?x44794" alt="Boat and Mastercard partnership" class="wp-image-648077" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-09-01-031830.png 592w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-09-01-031830-250x300.png 250w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Screenshot-2024-09-01-031830-351x420.png 351w" sizes="(max-width: 592px) 100vw, 592px" /></figure>

<p>It has contactless payment technology for Rs. 5,000 without a PIN, and the feature is great for everyday purchases. This reduces the hassle of keying in a PIN, thus making the transaction smoother and faster. For security, Mastercard&#8217;s device tokenization keeps transactions safe through cryptogram-based technologies that are unique, one-of-a-kind digital codes in place of sensitive card data. </p>

<p>Initially, the contactless payment feature will be available to Mastercard cardholders from select leading banks in India. However, Mastercard and boAt have plans to expand the availability of this feature to additional banks over time.</p>

<p>During an interview with CNBC, Twitter CFO <a href="https://twitter.com/SquawkCNBC/status/1359501275650547714">Ned Segal said</a> that the company is still reviewing the potential use-cases of the popular cryptocurrency. It is also considering whether the firm needs to have the digital asset on its balance sheet.</p>
<p>Even though buying bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency seems lucrative for many, the adoption has been very slow mainly because of the regulatory scrutiny. United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yallen recently warned that misuse of cryptocurrencies was a growing problem and she has previously raised concerns about the use of cryptocurrencies.</p>
<p>Apart from Tesla buying bitcoins and Twitter considering it, another company is making move in this direction. Mastercard has announced plans to begin allowing cardholders to transact in certain <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/cryptocurrency">cryptocurrencies</a>. The company is also “actively engaging” with central banks around the world on their plans to launch new digital currencies.</p>
