Huawei first stared pushing EMUI 10 update to the Mate 20 Lite in Europe in November last year. That rollout was seen as a precursor to the global release of the Android 10-based latest custom ROM. The company has now started rolling out the update to Mate 20 Lite users globally.

The new update brings the versions EMUI 10.0.0.172 and EMUI 10.0.0.170 depending on the region. Both versions have a file size of about 4GB. To check for the update,
Go to Settings > System > Software update > Check for Updates. If an update is available, it’ll ask if you want to download it. Alternatively,  open HiCare app > Update > Check for updates.

EMUI 10 update brings improved smoothness and performance on Mate 20 Lite models. The company has even added a system-wide dark mode which even forces apps that don’t have a dark mode to comply. The system settings are better organized in this new version and the OS is designed to offer a better experience when working other devices like a Windows 10 laptop. EMUI 10 allows the smartphone to cast its screen directly on to the Windows 10 device, offering a seamless working experience. The update equally brings Android 10-inherent features.

The Mate 20 Lite was launched in 2018 packing a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio, offering a pixel density of 409ppi. The device uses a notched display and is powered by a Kirin 710 chipset. It is impressive to see a two-year-old model get updated to the latest Android version this fast. We doubt, though, if the device will get any other update.

Last year, in the month of September, Huawei launched its first full-screen smartphone, Maimang 6. Its successor, Huawei Maimang 7 is confirmed to feature Kirin 710 with Turbo GPU. Few days ago, Huawei announced that they are bringing the successor of Huawei Maimang 6 and will launch the phone at an event in Guangzhou on September 12. A poster was included along with the announcement, below, you can have a look at it . It will carry mid-range specs with a design similar to Huawei Mate 10 series.

Huawei seems to be on the launching spree as it has launched multiple devices in the past few weeks. Recently, Huawei announced Honor 8X and Honor 8X max under its Honor brand.

Today morning, Huawei officially confirmed that they will bring the powerful Kirin 710 along with the Maimang 7. In order to boost the gaming performance, Huawei will add Turbo GPU to the device. Other details of the device are not yet confirmed, but we expect it would be similar to the specs that were leaked in numerous rumors.

Huawei Maimang 7 specs

As per the leaks, Huawei Maimang 7 will carry 6.3 inch of screen having resolution of 2340 × 1080 pixels with 12:5:9 aspect ratio. It will come in 6/64 Gb storage variant along with Kirin 710 on board.

In order to make it more gaming compatible, Huawei has added GPU Turbo for enhanced graphics performance. Interestingly, it will improve the graphics performance by 60% and will increase battery efficiency upto 30 percent. The fingerprint sensor will be available on the back of the device. You can also expect the device to carry a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

The major feature that Huawei is advertising for the Maimang 7 is its dual camera setups on both the front and the back side. It will carry dual 20 megapixel + 2 megapixel camera on the back side and 24 megapixel + 2 megapixel dual camera on the front side. Maimang 7 pricing and availability details are not yet available. Last year, Maimang 6 was available for 2,399 Yuan (~$350) and we hope for similar pricing for the Maimang 7.

It has been a year since Huawei announced the Maimang 6 in China. So it comes as no surprise when it announced today the launch date for the Maimang 7. According to the official poster, the Maimang 7 will be unveiled on September 12 but that isn’t the only thing the poster revealed.

Huawei isn’t hiding anything with respect to the phone’s design as all the angles of the phone are shown on the poster. This isn’t surprising since the Maimang 7 is actually the same device as the Mate 20 Lite which is already official.

The Maimang 7 has a notched display and curved glass on the back. Just like its predecessor, the phone also has dual cameras on each side. The dual rear cameras are arranged vertically and are in line with the fingerprint scanner.

The Maimang 7 will come with a 6.3-inch 2340 x 1080 screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It will pack the new Kirin 710 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

The dual rear cameras are a 20MP + 2MP combo while the front cameras are a combination of a 24MP sensor and another 2MP sensor. The Maimang 7 will pack a 3750mAh battery, a USB-C port, and have support for fast charging. It will run EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

The Mate 20 Lite is sold for about $436 but the Maimang 7 will most likely sell for less.

Huawei is prepared to launch the next-generation Mate-series smartphones, which includes Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 Lite. Now, the Huawei Mate 20 Lite is available for purchase in Poland, which is the most affordable variant of the three.

The smartphone comes with a bigger 6.3-inch Full-HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio, offering a pixel density of 409ppi. This time, the company has opted to offer a notched display, resulting in a higher screen-to-body ratio of 81 percent, compared to the 76.5 percent in its predecessor.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the company’s own Kirin 710 chipset, which was recently launched. It is Huawei’s first 12nm chipset which should offer a significant improvement in power consumption and performance compared to the 16nm Kirin 659. The chipset consists of four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. The GPU is an ARM Mali G5 which is said to be 1.3 times better than that of the Kirin 659 and 1x more energy efficient.

The processor is coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, just like the Mate 10 Lite. Previous reports suggested the 6GB RAM variant as well, which could be available in other regions. We’re also expecting a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB.

The Mate 20 Lite comes with upgraded camera configuration. On the back side, the phone features a dual camera sensor — 20-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor, placed vertically in the top-center position. There’s a dual-camera setup on the front side too, having a 24-megapixel primary snapper and a 2-megapixel secondary shooter. It also supports Face Unlock feature.

The phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor placed just below the camera module on the back side. Coming to the connectivity, the Dual SIM phone now comes with NFC support. The company has also replaced the micro USB port with the USB Type-C port. Further, it now comes with support for dual-band Wi-Fi — 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

In terms of software, the phone is running on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with the company’s own EMUI 8.2. It also comes with the GPU Turbo, which enhances the phone’s performance. The phone is fuelled by a 3,750mAh battery and support fast charging technology.

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite will be available in three color options — Black, Gold, and Blue. It is now available for purchase in Poland for starting price of PLN 1,599, which roughly converts to $436. In Poland, the company is also bundling the Huawei AH100 Smart Scale for free (worth ~$41)  along with the purchase of Mate 20 Lite.

The Mate 20 Lite mid-range phone is expected to go official sooner as the rumor mill has leaked plenty of information on it in the recent weeks. Last year, the Chinese manufacturer had launched Maimang 6 smartphone in China and the very same phone was released in some other markets as Mate 10 Lite. Hence, the recently certified Maimang 7 is expected to debut in some markets as Mate 20 Lite. Fresh images of the Maimang 7 has been leaked since its listing had accidentally gone live in China for some time. The official website listing leak has once again revealed the design and some features of Mate 20 Lite.

The below image shows the huge screen space that the notched display of the Huawei Mate 20 Lite will be offer. The handset houses a 6.3-inch IPS LCD panel that produces Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

The bottom edge of the phone features a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port. It will be receiving power from 3,750mAh battery that will be enabled with support for fast charging. Recent reports have revealed that Kirin 710 SoC will be present under the hood of the device along with 6 GB of RAM.

The above render suggests that the Mate 20 Lite will be equipped with HDR Pro technology for beautifying selfie shots by improving contrast and colors. The upcoming Huawei Mate 20 series seems to feature three phones namely, Mate 20 and 20 Pro flagship smartphones and mid-range Mate 20 phone. The series may also include another premium device with Porsche Design Mate 20 moniker or something similar. Rumors are rife that the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro may debut in October. Today, Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) CEO Richard Yu has confirmed through a press release that the Mate 20 series will be unveiled in October.

The press release states that the Mate 20 will debut with the world’s first 7nm chipset in October. The exact specs of the Kirin 980 are not known yet. However, the press release has mentioned that the rumors claim that it features quad cores of Cortex A76 CPU and four cores of Cortex A55 CPU that can deliver maximum processing speeds of up to 2.8 GHz. What’s confirmed through the press release is that compared to other 10nm chipsets, the 7nm Kirin 980 will consume 40 percent less power and it will be 20 percent faster. For improved AI performance, it will be arriving with an enhanced AI processor.

Huawei had recently confirmed that it will be announcing the Kirin 980 chipset at the forthcoming IFA 2018 tech trade show that will take place at Berlin, Germany at the end of this month. The press release has no information on the specs of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro.

Huawei has recently teased that the Mate 20 will be sporting larger battery than the Mate 10 and P20 which suggests that it could be arriving with a 4,200mAh battery. The Mate 20 Pro may also feature the same-sized battery. Both the phones are also expected to feature triple rear cameras. These could be the first Huawei branded phones to feature 8 GB of RAM. Apple and Qualcomm to rival with Huawei by soon launching their versions of 7nm chipsets. Rumors have it that the upcoming iPhones that are rumored to go official in the next month will feature 7nm Apple A12. The Mate 20 series are the most anticipated devices from Huawei for the second half of the year. Huawei plans to do wonders with the device just as it did with this year’s P-series.

Just like last year’s Mate 10 series, we expect the Mate 20 to come in at least three variants – the Mate 20 Lite, the Mate 20, and the Mate 20 Pro. There should also be a fourth variant made in collaboration with Porsche Design.

The Mate 20 Lite will be the cheapest of the lot and the least powerful. The device already appeared on TENAA where it bared all its specs. Ahead of its official release, which is still unknown by the way, official renders of the phone have surfaced online.

The images were posted on the web first by Winfuture.de and they show the Mate 20 Lite in two colors – gold and black. The black variant isn’t new as its pictures are those used by TENAA.

As you can see, the Mate 20 Lite comes with a notch, a common trend in a lot of Huawei and Honor phones released this year. There is also a bit of bezel at the bottom of the display and like last year’s model, there is no fingerprint scanner in front.

The main design changes are on the rear of the Mate 20 Lite. The back appears to be made of glass and appears curved on the sides (gold variant). It packs dual cameras like the Mate 10 Lite but the sensors are separated. Also, the LED flash now flanks the cameras on the left and a fingerprint scanner sits below the setup.

Remember the horizontal band that has a lighter shade than the rest of the phone on the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro? Huawei is bringing it to the Mate 20 Lite. This time around it is a vertical line and it runs from the top of the dual cameras down to a few centimeters below the fingerprint sensor.

A picture of the side of the phone shows the power and volume buttons are on the right side and there is an antenna line at the upper half. It also has a 3.5mm audio jack at the bottom.

When it launches it will come with a 6.3-inch 2340 x 1080 display, a Kirin 710 processor, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

Its dual rear cameras are a 20MP sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. It will also have dual front cameras – a 24MP sensor paired with a second 2MP sensor. Under its body sits a 3,650mAh battery. The Mate 20 Lite will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Today, the TENAA listing of the smartphone has been updated with its entire specifications. A recent report has revealed that Huawei has shipped more number of notched display smartphones than any other phone brand in the world. The Maimang 7 which is expected to land in European markets as Mate 20 Lite is yet another smartphone with notched display.

The Maimang 7 that has a model number of SNE-AL00 measures 158.3 x 75.3 x 7.6mm and it weighs 172 grams. The TENAA listing states that apart from black, there is no other color variant of the Maimang 7 smartphone. The handset houses a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display that produces Full HD+ resolution 2340 x 1080 pixels. It means that the display will offer an aspect ratio of 19:9. The wide notch of the phone houses two front-facing cameras.

The SNE-AL00 is fueled by 2.2 GHz octa-core processor which suggests that it could be the second phone from the company to feature the Kirin 710 SoC. It is packed with 3,650mAh battery. The handset is preinstalled with Android 8.1.0 Oreo.

The SoC is coupled with 6 GB of RAM. It includes 64 GB of internal storage. Since “not support” is mentioned for external storage, it seems that the smartphone won’t be carrying support for adding a microSD card. For photography, the Maimang 7 features 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel rear-mounted dual camera and its frontside features 24-megapixel + 2-mgapixel dual camera.

The Maimang 6 that was rolled out as Mate 10 Lite in other regions had featured an aluminum body. The Maimang 7 seems to be featuring a glass build on the rear. Below the vertical dual camera, there is a fingerprint scanner. The appearance of the back panel of the phone is similar to Porsche Design Mate 10. Now that the Maimang 6 has been certified in China, it may go official soon. There is a possibility that the Mate 20 Lite may go official by September as the October launch event could be only meant for announcing Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones. Since Mate 20 Lite has a notched screen, it is likely that the Mate 20 and 20 Pro smartphones may also feature the same display design.

It was recently revealed that model numbers such as SNE-AL00, SN-AL00B, SNE-LX1, SNE-LX2, SNE-LX3 and SNE-TL00 all belong to the upcoming Mate 20 Lite. As mentioned above, the SNE-AL00 could be landing in China as Maimang 7.

The front image of the smartphone does not clearly reveal whether the Maimang 7 will be featuring a notched display or not. However, the handset seems to be fitted with dual front cameras. The layout of the camera sensors suggest that the Maimang 7 may feature a notched display. If the Mate 20 Lite arrives with a notched screen, there is a possibility that the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro may feature the same kind of display.

A recent report has claimed that because of the presence of 3D structured light module, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro could be equipped with notched screens. The rear side of the Maimang 7 which seems to be made out of glass features a vertically arranged dual camera system. Below it is a fingerprint scanner. There is a Maimang logo at the bottom portion on the back panel which confirms the identity of the smartphone. XDA Developers has come across the firmware files of Huawei Mate 20 that has not only revealed vital information of the smartphone, but also it has unearthed few information on Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 Lite smartphones.

Through the leaked firmware files, it has been revealed that the Huawei Mate 20 may arrive with a 6.3-inch AMOLED screen. The publication claims that it is yet to be confirmed whether the smartphone features a notch or not.

There is no information available on the display size of Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 Lite. Since P20 and P20 Lite have same sized 5.84-inch displays, it is likely that the Mate 20 Lite may feature a 6.3-inch screen like Mate 20.  A previous report has claimed that the Mate 20 Pro may feature a massive display of 6.9 inches.

Huawei will be unleashing the Kirin 980 as the first ever 7nm chipset for smartphones at the IFA 2018 tech expo at the end of this month. The same SoC is expected to power the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones. The exact specs of the chipset are not available yet, but leaked information has revealed that Kirin 980 features four cores of Cortex A77 CPU and four cores of Cortex A55. Also, it is speculated to deliver a maximum clocking speed of 2.8 GHz. As far as Mate 20 Lite is concerned, it is likely to feature newly introduced Kirin 710 SoC.

The Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro featured a 4,000mAh battery. Leaked firmware files have revealed that the Mate 20 would be equipped with a 4,200mAh battery. Hence, there is a possibility that the Mate 20 Pro may also feature the same sized battery. The Mate 20 may feature a glass rear as it is expected to carry support for wireless charging. The Mate 20 Pro may also offer the same feature.

Through the firmware files for Mate 20 it has been known that it will be featuring at least 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Since Honor has recently launched smartphones with 8 GB of RAM such as Honor 10 GT and Honor Note 10, GizmoChina speculates that the Mate 20 Pro may feature an 8 GB RAM variant.

XDA Developers has speculated that Huawei Mate 20 Pro may arrive with in-display fingerprint scanner. Also, it is expected to arrive with triple rear cameras. A recent report has revealed Huawei may offer a regular capacitive fingerprint reader n the Mate 20. The upcoming Mate 20 series are expected to run on Android 9.0 P based on EMUI 9.0.

The publication has further stated that the HMA-AL00, HMA-L09, HMA-L29 and HMA-TL00 are the four variants of the Huawei Mate 20. The Mate 20 Lite have been found to exist in six variants such as SNE-AL00, SN-AL00B, SNE-LX1, SNE-LX2, SNE-LX3 and SNE-TL00. The AL and TL variants mentioned here are meant for the Chinese market. The L09 is a single-SIM international model and L29 is a dual-SIM international variant.
