<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/11/26/huawei-mate70-pro-pro-rs-ultimate-launched-in-china-ryyb-image-sensors-titanium-frame-elegant-design/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei announced its Mate 70 series</a> of flagship smartphones back around two weeks ago with new cutting edge technology. While the nationalistic drive behind the Mate 60 lineup pushed sales, it was unclear if the Mate 70 would also get a similar treatment. But now, it appears that the demand for these new premium Huawei devices has suppliers struggling to keep up.</p>

<h2>Huawei Mate 70 has suppliers work overtime</h2>

<p>To recall, the new premium series consists of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-70/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 70</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-70-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 70 Pro</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-70-pro-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 70 Pro+</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-70-rs-ultimate/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 70 RS Ultimate</a>. And according to Huawei&#8217;s consumer business group CEO He Gang, the latest flagships are seeing impressive sales. He claimed that its customers in China have reserved more than 6.7 million units of the Mate 70 series. It is worth noting that these are only reservations and not pre-orders, so Huawei has yet to receive any money from these consumers. But it does give an idea regarding its supposed popularity. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-series-design.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei-Mate-70-series-design" class="wp-image-660620" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-series-design.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-series-design-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-series-design-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-series-design-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-series-design-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /><figcaption>Huawei Mate 70 series</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The reservation number basically showcases the market&#8217;s reception of the Mate 70 series. A new <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/demand-excessive-huaweis-mate-70-073913761.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">report from Beijing</a> (via <em><a href="https://www.phonearena.com/news/huawei-mate-70-demand-is-so-high-the-supply-chain-is-working-overtime_id165577" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">PhoneArena</a></em>) stated that Huawei&#8217;s supply chain is working overtime to meet the high demand for the new Mate 70 models. The report claims that the initial supplies manufactured for the new premium phones were still insufficient. He Gang said that the demand for the Mate 70 has been excessive, although analysts claim that the hype behind the Mate 70 is down compared to its predecessor, the Mate 60 series.</p>

<p>Analysts believe that the Mate 70 series could suffer from supply bottlenecks owing to issues with chip production. A recent benchmark leak has revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/11/27/huawei-mate-70-pro-benchmark-reveals-a-new-kirin-9020-chip-with-over-30-performance-improvement/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei Mate 70 Pro+ is powered by the Kirin 9020 SoC</a>, which reportedly offers over 30 percent performance upgrade over the last gen Kiring 9010 chip. These chips are still behind the 3nm based high end chips from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Apple, but as Huawei moves away from US made technologies, the company is only a few short years behind its global competition.</p>

<p>Earlier today (26th November 2024), <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/11/26/huawei-mate70-pro-pro-rs-ultimate-launched-in-china-ryyb-image-sensors-titanium-frame-elegant-design/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei finally launched the Mate 70 series</a> of flagship smartphones in its home market of China. These feature the brand&#8217;s cutting edge technology, so here&#8217;s every feature that makes it stand out among the crowd.</p>

<h3>Huawei Mate 70 Series: Premium Design &amp; Titanium Frame</h3>

<p>The Chinese tech giant&#8217;s latest high-end smartphones feature slim and premium design. To recall, the lineup consists of the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 RS Ultimate. Excluding the most expensive RS Ultimate and Mate 70 Pro+ model, the rest feature a glass back and aluminum alloy frame. In my personal opinion, this iteration of the circular camera module is one of the best I&#8217;ve seen so far. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="816" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs-1024x816.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs" class="wp-image-661867" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs-1024x816.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs-300x239.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs-768x612.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs-696x554.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs-1068x851.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs-527x420.jpg 527w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/huawei-mate70-rs-ultimate-design-kv-xs.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Huawei Mate 70 RS Ultimate</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro have a seamless ring design, while the Mate 70 Pro+ adds contrast with a golden ring around the rear cameras. It also blends a titanium frame like the iPhone 16 Pros, with a glass back. Lastly, we have the Mate 70 RS Ultimate Edition, which takes it up a notch with a titanium frame and a back panel that is made with brocade material. This basically adds another premium feel to Huawei&#8217;s top flagship phone.</p>

<h3>Cameras with Variable Aperture</h3>

<p>Over the last couple of flagship series, Huawei has refined the use of variable apertures on its Mate devices and the Mate 70 lineup continues this legacy. The primary camera on all four models is a 50MP sensor that has an F1.4-F4.0 aperture and OIS support (Optical Image Stabilization). </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="929" height="734" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-2.png?x44794" alt="Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-2" class="wp-image-661866" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-2.png 929w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-2-300x237.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-2-768x607.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-2-696x550.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-2-532x420.png 532w" sizes="(max-width: 929px) 100vw, 929px" /><figcaption>Huawei Mate 70 Pro+</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>This helps users tweak the amount of light coming into the sensor. All four models have a triple camera setup on the rear, which includes a telephoto shooter and ultra wide angle lens. Other phones have also used variable aperture in the past, but Huawei is the only one that consistently employs it in its flagships.</p>

<h3>Face ID</h3>

<p>For security, there is a side mounted fingerprint scanner on every model. But excluding the base model, the Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 RS Ultimate are equipped with a 3D face scanner. In other words, you get Face ID. This is another layer of protection, which could be perfect for those moving away from an iPhone. Apart from Apple, the feature is mostly rare since most smartphone makers opt for variants of the fingerprint scanner.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">

<p>The latest generation of flagship smartphones are launching with high end chips like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/09/mediatek-dimensity-9400-launched-a-leap-in-ai-and-gaming-performance/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Dimensity 9400</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/24/snapdragon-8-elite-vs-snapdragon-8-gen-3/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Snapdragon 8 Elite</a>. However, there is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/29/top-5-trends-in-new-flagship-smartphones/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">another trend </a>that is becoming more common with premium phones. For enhanced security, flagship phones are now featuring <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/29/why-ultrasonic-fingerprint-sensor-better/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ultrasonic fingerprint scanners</a> and it seems Huawei&#8217;s Mate 70 series could be one of them as well. </p>

<h2>Huawei Mate 70 Series Tipped With Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner</h2>

<p>The news arrives from known tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo. The leak claims that the Chinese tech giant&#8217;s upcoming Mate 70 series will use an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/31/oneplus-13-launched-with-snapdragon-8-elite-6000mah-battery-and-slick-lightweight-design/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">recently unveiled OnePlus 13</a>. Smart Pikachu claims that the Huawei Mate 70 lineup will pack this technology for enhanced security. The online post further claims that upcoming Ultra model flagships (outside of Huawei smartphones) are expected to debut next year with Qualcomm&#8217;s ultrasonic fingerprint sensors.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-Leak.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-647968" width="749" height="499" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-Leak.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-Leak-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-Leak-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-Leak-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Huawei-Mate-70-Pro-Leak-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 749px) 100vw, 749px" /></figure></div>

<p>To recall, there are plenty of Ultra series models that are expected to launch in the coming months. This includes the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/29/oppo-find-x8-ultra-camera-specifications-leak-reveals-one-inch-camera-dual-periscope-telephoto-senors/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Oppo Find X8 Ultra</a>,<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/30/xiaomi-15-ultra-camera-specifications-leaked/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Xiaomi 15 Ultra</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s25-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/22/vivo-x200-ultra-seemingly-teased-to-feature-snapdragon-8-elite-chip/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vivo X200 Ultra</a>. There are more Ultra branded phones, which may likely support this technology. This is all the information that was shared on the Weibo post. Just recently, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/30/huawei-mate-70-series-camera-layout-revealed-in-a-new-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">camera layout of the Mate 70 series</a> was revealed in a new leak. </p>

<p>There are also rumors that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/15/huawei-mate-70-may-launch-dual-os-options-one-with-android-support/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 70 may be unveiled with dual OS</a> options. The primary operating system is the new HarmonyOS Next, while the secondary one may have Android support. Since the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/10/23/harmonyos-nextsupported-device-update-timeline" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HarmonyOS Next is a major upgrade</a> that has Huawei finally moving away from Android, it would make sense that it keeps some form of support for the more popular Android platform. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stay tuned for more updates. </p>

<p>Reports suggest <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a>&#8216;s upcoming <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/mate-70">Mate 70 </a>flagship will stick with the 7nm Kirin chips (potentially the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-9100">Kirin 9100</a> with improved transistor density using SMIC&#8217;s N+3 technology) due to the high cost and potential yield issues associated with SMIC&#8217;s attempt at <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/5nm">5nm </a>production using DUV. SMIC is China&#8217;s leading chipmaker, and it is facing limitations due to US sanctions and Dutch export restrictions. Unable to access cutting-edge EUV technology, SMIC relies on older DUV machines, putting them behind rivals TSMC and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung </a>Foundry.</p>

<h2>SMIC is reportedly actively working on a 5nm process using DUV lithography</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-641190" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip.webp 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip-300x200.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip-768x512.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip-696x464.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip-630x420.webp 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Despite the challenges, rumors indicate SMIC is actively working on a 5nm process using DUV lithography. While the energy efficiency of this approach seems promising, significant cost reduction is necessary for it to be commercially viable for Huawei.</p>

<p>The Mate 70&#8217;s chipset choice remains unclear. Sticking with 7nm offers a safe path, while venturing into DUV-based 5nm promises advancement but carries significant risks. SMIC&#8217;s success in refining its 5nm process will ultimately determine Huawei&#8217;s chip strategy for future flagships.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> has confirmed that its upcoming Mate 70 series will be the first to launch with the official version of its in-house operating system, HarmonyOS NEXT. The announcement came during the HDC 2024 Huawei Developer Conference, which also revealed an expected release window in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/21/huawei-confirms-mate-70-series-launch-with-harmonyos-next-in-q4-2024/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fourth quarter of this year</a> (October to December).</p>

<p>Now a fresh new leak by prolific tipster <em>Digital Chat Station</em> suggests the Mate 70 will feature a new generation of HiSilicon Kirin 5G SoC, signifying Huawei&#8217;s continued commitment to its in-house chipset development. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="272" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-70-specs-leak.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-636477" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-70-specs-leak.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-70-specs-leak-300x91.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-70-specs-leak-768x232.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Huawei-Mate-70-specs-leak-696x210.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The phone is also rumored to feature a domestically produced 50-megapixel ultra-large-bottom CMOS image sensor likely from OmniVision.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additionally, Digital Chat Station hints that Huawei is working on a more “heavyweight product.” However, this product is reportedly facing production difficulties due to an extremely low yield rate. While it&#8217;s unclear exactly what this product is, it could be a new top-tier model in the Mate 70 series.</p>

<p>Another positive sign for the HarmonyOS ecosystem comes from comments made by the tipster. They claim that WeChat, China&#8217;s ubiquitous messaging and social media app, is working on developing a native app for the HarmonyOS NEXT consumer version.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As the official launch window approaches, more details about the Mate 70 series are likely to emerge in the coming months. We will keep you updated on it.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a>&#8216;s upcoming flagship smartphone line is the Mate 70 series. While there haven&#8217;t been any official details, there have been constant leaks and rumors revealing possible details about the smartphones.</p>

<p>In the latest leak, Weibo tipster <em>Smart Pikachu</em> revealed that the Huawei Mate 70 series will retain the circular camera design of the Mate 60 series. This design has been a staple of the Mate line since the Mate 30 series, except for the Mate 50 series, which briefly used a plate-style module. It appears the Mate 70 series will follow the suit. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="344" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-series-vs-iPhone-16.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-628930" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-series-vs-iPhone-16.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-series-vs-iPhone-16-300x115.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-series-vs-iPhone-16-768x294.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-series-vs-iPhone-16-696x266.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>

<p>Additionally, the tipster revealed that the Huawei Mate 70 series will compete directly with the iPhone 16 series, not just in hardware features but also in terms of software features.&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>Smart Pikachu</em> claims the Mate 70 series will feature advanced AI capabilities, focusing on AI imaging and &#8220;AI Life.&#8221; Apple is also rumored to introduce AI features in iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 series. </p>

<p>It will be interesting to see how these new phones compare on the AI front and whether or not it will help them gain market traction.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Besides this, we know very little about the Huawei Mate 70 series. Rumors so far suggest the line will use a new OmniVision CMOS sensor, a new Super Core Kirin chip that reportedly scores over 1 million points in benchmarking apps. </p>

<p>Moreover, the phones will likely boot on Huawei’s new operating system called HarmonyOS NEXT which won’t support Android apps altogether. Mate 70 is expected to be the first smartphone to come pre-installed with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/harmonyos-next/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">HarmonyOS NEXT </a>out of the box.</p>

<p>A fresh new leak about the Huawei Mate 70 series suggests major improvement in performance thanks to an alleged &#8220;super core&#8221; Kirin chip. Words for it come from Weibo tipster <em><a href="https://weibo.com/5888095979/OdVL9nqSx?pagetype=profilefeed" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@SmartPikachu</a></em>, who claims that the new Kirin SoC could elevate the Mate 70 to the top ranks in terms of performance.</p>

<p>The exact nature of the &#8220;super core&#8221; remains unclear. It&#8217;s possible Huawei might implement a revamped core configuration within the Kirin chip specifically for the Mate 70. However, details are scarce at this point.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="268" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Series-Kirin-Super-Core-chip.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-624930" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Series-Kirin-Super-Core-chip.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Series-Kirin-Super-Core-chip-300x89.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Series-Kirin-Super-Core-chip-768x229.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Series-Kirin-Super-Core-chip-696x207.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Performance rumors for the Mate 70 aren&#8217;t new. Earlier leaks hinted at a Kirin benchmark score exceeding 1.1 million points, possibly placing in line with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. While lacking specifics, these leaks suggest a noticeable performance improvement for Huawei’s upcoming flagship phones.</p>

<p>Additionally, the tipster hints at a possible launch timing clash between the Mate 70 and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple-iphone-16/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPhone 16</a> series later this year. While an October or September release for the Mate 70 is not confirmed, it could set the stage for a showdown between these tech giants upon their respective launches.</p>

<p>The Mate 70 series is also rumored to be the first to come<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/05/10/huawei-will-transition-to-harmonyos-this-year-ditching-android-app-support-completely-report/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> pre-installed</a> with Huawei’s new HarmonyOS NEXT operating system. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip.jpg?x44794" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>The OS will ditch support for Android apps completely and the platform already has over 4000 native apps from Chinese corporations and businesses. That number will grow in the near future.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additional leaks suggest Huawei is already ramping up production for the Mate 70, with a target to increase stick by 40-50% compared to the Mate 60 series. However, these claims, along with the aforementioned features, are all leaks and rumors, and official details from Huawei are still forthcoming.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> launched its latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-pura-70/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pura 70</a> flagships with a new Kirin 9010 chip. While the SoC shares a similar manufacturing process and core architecture with the Kirin 9000s, Huawei has optimized it further to deliver performance in their latest flagships.</p>

<p>A new rumor suggests that the company is working on yet another Kirin chip, likely for the Mate 70 series smartphones.</p>

<p>Words for it come from a Weibo tipster <a href="https://weibo.com/6084203417/Od00oEZDt" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@DirectorShiGuan</a>, who revealed that Huawei has well-reformed its upcoming Kirin chip for the Mate 70 series and it performs comparatively well in benchmarks.  </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="414" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Kirin-chip-1024x414.jpg?x44794" alt="Kirin chip Huawei Mate 70" class="wp-image-623359" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Kirin-chip-1024x414.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Kirin-chip-300x121.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Kirin-chip-768x310.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Kirin-chip-696x281.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Kirin-chip-1068x432.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Kirin-chip-1039x420.jpg 1039w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Mate-70-Kirin-chip.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The tipster suggests that the new processor could achieve a benchmark score exceeding 1.1 million points. Although the leak doesn’t mention any specific benchmarking platform, it&#8217;s likely referring to AnTuTu.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To put this into perspective, the latest Kirin 9010 chip in the Pura 70 Ultra phone scores around 927,547 points on AnTuTu v10.  Whereas, the Mate 60 Pro running on a Kirin 9000s processor, averages about 699,783 points on the same benchmark.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Kirin PC chip" class="wp-image-622884" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Huawei-Kirin-PC-chip-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>However, it&#8217;s important to understand that these benchmark scores may not directly reflect how well the chips perform in real-life use. We&#8217;ll need to see how the new Kirin chip performs when it debuts in the upcoming Mate 70 smartphones to gauge any performance improvements.</p>

<p>As for the Mate 70 line, it is expected to have at least three smartphones: the Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, and Mate 70 Pro+.  The series is rumored to launch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/01/29/huawei-mate-70-launch-timeline/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">sometime in September</a>. </p>

<p>If the rumored launch timeframe turns out to be true, it&#8217;s clear that Huawei is looking to compete with Apple&#8217;s 2024 iPhones.</p>

<h2>Huawei Mate 70 series may launch in September 2024</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Huawei-Mate-60-Pro-series-1024x843.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-582864" width="564" height="464" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Huawei-Mate-60-Pro-series-1024x843.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Huawei-Mate-60-Pro-series-300x247.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Huawei-Mate-60-Pro-series-768x632.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Huawei-Mate-60-Pro-series-696x573.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Huawei-Mate-60-Pro-series-510x420.jpg 510w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Huawei-Mate-60-Pro-series.jpg 1059w" sizes="(max-width: 564px) 100vw, 564px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Chinese tech giant had previously unveiled the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/08/30/huawei-mate-60-launched-with-6-69-inch-oled-120hz-display-50mp-triple-cameras-66w-charging/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/08/29/huawei-mate-60-pro-launched-in-china/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60 Pro</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/08/huawei-mate-60-pro-launched-with-6-82-inch-oled-120hz-display-kirin-9000s-48mp-triple-cameras-satellite-connectivity/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60 Pro+</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/25/huawei-mate-60-rs-ultimate-design-launched-china/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mate 60 RS Ultimate</a> models. Now, a Weibo tipster called Smart Pikachu shared more information regarding the Mate 70 series. He claimed that Huawei is planning on releasing the Mate 70 lineup in China in the month of September 2024. This is in line with its release timeline for the Mate 60 phones. </p>

<p>The tipster also added that the upcoming Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, and Mate 70 Pro+ model will be &#8220;stronger&#8221; than the Apple iPhone 16 series. If the rumored September announcement is true, it is clear that the brand is looking to take on the Cupertino based giant&#8217;s next gen 2024 iPhones. Lastly, Smart Pikachu stated that the company is also working on a new 1-inch device. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="625" height="162" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Huawei-Mate-70.png?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 70" class="wp-image-601049" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Huawei-Mate-70.png 625w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Huawei-Mate-70-300x78.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px" /></figure></div>

<p>In other words, an upcoming Huawei smartphone could offer a 1-inch sensor for the primary camera. This is likely a new Mate or P series smartphone. For those unaware, the Huawei P70 series is also in the development pipeline. In recent reports, we covered rumors regarding the P70 possibly launching in <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/01/29/huawei-is-reportedly-testing-two-screen-sizes-for-the-p70-series/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">two screen sizes</a>. The P70 may also offer a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/01/21/huawei-p70-imx989-sensor-march-launch-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sony IMX989 sensor</a> on the rear and a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/01/20/huawei-p70-series-display-camera-specs-leak/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">6.7-inch 1.5K quad curved OLED display</a> on the front.</p>
