The company’s Terminal BG CTO, Bruce Lee, announced on Weibo that a new system update, version 3.1.0.161 (C00E160R4P4log), will soon be available. The update brings several enhancements to the device’s functionality, particularly focusing on stability improvements and screen-off display options. This article delves into the specific updates, addressing concerns about screen burn-in and highlighting the new display features offered by the latest firmware.

The system update aims to address certain stability issues reported by users. Huawei claims that its engineers have diligently worked on resolving these concerns to provide a smoother user experience. With the update, Mate X3 users can expect a more stable operating environment for their devices.

One of the prominent additions in this update is the expansion of the screen-off display options. Previously, users had limited choices for their off-screen display settings. However, the new update introduces two additional options: all-day display and timing display. These options can be accessed through the “Display Mode” setting menu, allowing users to customize their device’s off-screen appearance according to their preferences.

Huawei has taken measures to ensure that the screen-off display features do not cause burn-in issues. The company’s customer service team has clarified that the screen-off display time and background image have been optimized to prevent burn-in. Additionally, when the background image nears the fingerprint icon, they will be displayed alternately to avoid overlapping.

Huawei is all set to launch its latest foldable smartphone model, the Mate X3, in Europe. The foldable phone was first launched in China back in March 2023, and is finally making its way to the global market. So here are all the details.

Huawei Mate X3 finally arrives in the European market

Just after its first announcement, the Chinese tech giant also confirmed that the Mate X3 foldable phone will also be launching in the European market on 9th May 2023. Now, the device is finally unveiled in the region. The Mate X3 is the latest generation of the brand’s foldable phone series and rivals Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 in the market. The device sports a tall 7.85 inch primary screen that features an OLED panel and 120Hz refresh rate along with a 6.4 inch cover display.

Under the hood, the device is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC that is paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Huawei Mate X3 is powered by a large 4,800mAh battery pack that supports 66W wired fast charging, 50W wireless fast charging, and 7.5W reverse charging as well. The rear packs a 50 megapixel triple camera setup, while the front houses an 8 megapixel selfie shooter.

Other notable features include, satellite connectivity, IPX8 water resistance, 239 grams in weight, 11.08mm in thickness when folded and just 5.3mm when unfolded, OIS support on the periscope zoom lens, NFC, dual stereo speakers, and Bluetooth 5.2. The device was launched in China for a starting price tag of 12,999 Yuan or roughly about 1,900 US Dollars or 1,700 Euros. But now, it is going on sale for a starting price tag of 1,199 Euros (1,199 Pounds in the UK) for its 8GB + 256GB model and 1,399 Euros (1,299 Pounds in the UK) for the 12GB + 512GB model.

Huawei may have done a technological breakthrough in the battery field, revealing that it will be upgrading the battery of its upcoming foldable smartphone, which is rumored to be the Mate X3. According to Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster, Huawei will use high-silicon anode material to enhance the battery capacity to 5060mAh (typical value).

The new foldable smartphone will feature a larger screen, which will require a better battery life. Currently, the industry is facing limitations in terms of improving the cathode material energy density of mobile phone batteries. Huawei’s breakthrough in the battery field will offer better energy density and a larger battery capacity.

However, the high-silicon anode batteries used in Huawei’s new mobile phone presented some technical difficulties. They have a large volume expansion coefficient, low first charge and discharge efficiency, and high resistivity. Huawei has also incorporated AI parallel power management, 15-layer security protection, and intelligent charging management to ensure higher charging efficiency and safer charging.

Huawei Mate X3 to launch soon, will likely rival the Galaxy Z Fold 4

Huawei was one of the first brands to launch a foldable smartphone in the market. The company has been rumored to be working on a next gen premium Mate X3 foldable phone, and now, its possible launch timeline has been revealed.

The news arrives from tipster Wangzai Knows Everything (Via NotebookCheck) who shared that the information on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). The company’s Mate X3 is set to launch soon and will feature a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. This means that the Chinese tech giant’s foldable phone will also have two displays, with one external and the primary display being a large inward folding panel housed on a vertical hinge.

According to the tipster, despite having a same design, the Huawei foldable phone will cost significantly less than its South Korean counterpart. From what we know so far, the Mate X3 is believed to feature a 4G only Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Although finer details regarding this device is still at large. Based on a previous report, Huawei was expected to launch the Mate X3 sometime in December 2022. However, the latest leak hints at a later launch.

The Mate X2 model was released back in February 2021, so it is clear that a successor is already long due. The latest leak hints at the Mate X3 being announced sometime in the first half of next year. So we can expect it to be launched in early 2023. Depending on its price tag, it might a great contender in the Chinese foldable smartphone market.

Huawei Mate X3 bags 3C certification, launch seems imminent

Last month, a Huawei device with model number PAL-AL000 was approved by the TENAA authority of China. It is believed that this 4G LTE device will be debuting in the Chinese market with the Huawei Mate X3 moniker. The same device has now received approval from the 3C certification site of China.

As can be seen in the screenshot below, the Huawei device with PAL-AL00 may come with a charger that supports up to 66W fast charging. It is unclear whether the 66W charger will be included in the retail package of the device. The listing once again confirms that the PAL-AL00 is a 4G LTE device. Now that it has bagged TENAA and 3C certifications, it seems that the device will go official as early as this month in China.

The TENAA listing does not have the entire specifications of the Mate X3 yet. However, the preliminary listing reveals that it has a 4,500mAh battery and it runs on HarmonyOS 2.0.1. Rumors are rife that it will be powered by the Kirin 9000 4G, which fueled the Mate X2 last year. It is speculated that the device will arrive with a high refresh rate OLED panels and an improved hinge. Unfortunately, there is no information available on the other specs of the Mate X3.

The Huawei Mate X2 features a 6.4-inch OLED that produces an 1160 x 2700 pixels resolution. It is equipped with an 8-inch foldable screen that delivers 2280 x 2480 pixels. The Kirin 9000 SoC powers the device with 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM and it comes with 256 GB of internal storage.

The Mate X2 has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. It has a 50-megapixel main camera, a 16-megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto periscope snapper. The device is backed by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 55W rapid charging.
