Precisely, DXOMARK, which is known for camera reviews, has time and again spotted the nitty-gritty that Huawei includes in every generation. After <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/22/huawei-mate-40-pro-dxomark-camera-selfie/">reviewing the Mate40 Pro</a>, it has released the rear camera review of the Mate40 Pro+. Accordingly, the device tops the charts beating its sibling by 3 points.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361268" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mate-40-pro-plus-DXOMARK.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1473" height="676" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mate-40-pro-plus-DXOMARK.jpg 1473w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mate-40-pro-plus-DXOMARK-300x138.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mate-40-pro-plus-DXOMARK-768x352.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mate-40-pro-plus-DXOMARK-1024x470.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mate-40-pro-plus-DXOMARK-696x319.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mate-40-pro-plus-DXOMARK-1068x490.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/mate-40-pro-plus-DXOMARK-915x420.jpg 915w" sizes="(max-width: 1473px) 100vw, 1473px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40-pro-plus">Huawei Mate40 Pro+</a> gets an overall <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dxomark">DXOMARK</a> camera <a href="https://www.dxomark.com/huawei-mate-40-pro-plus-camera-review-king-of-camera/">score</a> of 139 points. With this, it sets new a record in the Camera department. It scores a whopping 144 points in the Photo category. As the report says, this is the highest ever for still photos. However, it is three points short(98 points) of beating <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra">Mi 10 Ultra</a> in the zoom category.</p>
<p>If you recall, the latter, which <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/26/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra-dxomark-top-ranking-camera-technology-explained/">previously had the best camera</a>, scores 101 points in the Zoom category. Besides, Mate40 Pro+ also misses the top spot in the Video category to its sibling Mate40 Pro. It scores a point lesser(115 points) than the latter(116 points). That said, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Huawei">Huawei</a> has now captured three of the top 5 spots on the DXOMARK camera rankings and this is impressive to say the least.</p>
<p>In comparison to Mate40 Pro, it has an additional dual-Telephoto lens and 3D ToF sensors. Before we talk about the Pros and cons, let&#8217;s briefly take a look at the rear-camera setup on the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mate-40-pro-plus">Mate40 Pro+</a> below:</p>
<ul>
<li>50MP f/1.9 Primary</li>
<li>20MP f/2.4 ultra-wide</li>
<li>12MP f/2.4 Telephoto</li>
<li>8MP f/2.4 Telephoto</li>
<li>3D ToF sensor</li>
<li>Color Temperature Sensor</li>
<li>Video: supports 4K at 60fps</li>
<li>Features: OIS(Primary, Telephoto), EIS</li>
</ul>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong>EDITOR&#8217;S PICK: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/09/dxomark-china-top-smartphone-smart-speaker-picks/">DXOMARK China picks best Smartphones and Smart Speaker in different categories</a></strong></h6>
<p>The report says that Mate40 Pro+ takes still photos and videos with accurate Exposure, a wide dynamic range, and doesn&#8217;t miss out on the highlights. The images are almost similar to those on the Mate40 Pro. However, the extra Telephoto and wider lens(ultra-wide- 14mm FOV), and features like OIS helps take better pictures with wider range, noise reduction, and textures.</p>
<p>However, it has few minor cons like color quantization, ghosting artifacts, shallow depth of field, and less sharpness in video frames(low light). Strangely, the device&#8217;s autofocus fails at closer distance and its preview images seem to be different than captured ones.</p>

It&#8217;s already been two months but many of the models are in short supply in China. In fact, the Mate40 was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/15/huawei-mate-40-preorders-months-after-announcement/">opened up for pre-orders</a> just a couple of days back. Now, it looks like the Mate40 Pro+ will also be available for sale but with a twist.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361072" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-Featured.jpeg?x44794" alt="" width="1200" height="669" /></p>
<p>Huawei&#8217;s official Vmall has listed the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40-pro-plus/">Huawei Mate40 Pro+</a> for sale from December 21 in China. The top-of-the-line flagship from the Chinese giant will be available for purchase at 07:38 AM Beijing time(GMT+08:00). However, after this, the website says it will go on sale only on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday of a week at 10:08 AM.</p>
<p>This suggests(via <a href="https://m.ithome.com/html/525561.htm">ITHome</a>) that the device is still in short supply and the stocks will be limited even during the sales. The situation is similar for the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-40-rs-porsche-design">Mate40 RS Porsche Design</a> as well. If we recall, these devices, after a short sale were often out of stock during the last two months. In fact, a previous report said Pro+ and RS Porsche Design&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/01/jingdong-celebrates-100-million-sales-of-huawei-mate-40-series-with-a-drone-show/">inventories on offline stories</a> were also in short supply.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-361070" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Mate-40-pro-sales.jpg?x44794" alt="Mate40 Pro+ Sales" width="1881" height="901" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Mate-40-pro-sales.jpg 1881w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Mate-40-pro-sales-300x144.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Mate-40-pro-sales-768x368.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Mate-40-pro-sales-1024x490.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Mate-40-pro-sales-696x333.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Mate-40-pro-sales-1068x512.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Mate-40-pro-sales-877x420.jpg 877w" sizes="(max-width: 1881px) 100vw, 1881px" /></p>
<p>It&#8217;s a no-brainer that Huawei is facing these issues due to the US Govt&#8217;s restrictions on procuring the company&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-kirin">Kirin SoCs</a>. In fact, the Mate40 series <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/08/07/huawei-mate40-last-flagship-kirin-chipset/">could be the last flagships to feature the in-house chipsets</a>.  And this could also be a factor in driving the demand for the upcoming sales of Mate40 flagships. The series has already received great reception with Mate40 <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/12/17/huawei-mate-40-sold-out-in-just-under-1-minute-in-china/">getting sold out in under a minute</a> recently.</p>
<h4><strong>Mate40 Pro+ Specifications</strong></h4>
