<p>As the automobile industry moves towards new energy based models, electric scooters have become a popular line of small scale automotives. Now, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mclaren/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">McLaren</a> has just announced its latest e-scooter model that comes with an interesting quirk.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="680" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-2-1024x680.webp?x10805" alt="McLaren" class="wp-image-500493" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-2-1024x680.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-2-300x199.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-2-768x510.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-2-696x462.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-2-1068x709.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-2-632x420.webp 632w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-2.webp 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>There have been scooters or bikes that can be folded and this new model is one of them. As of right now, the British automaker is working on including more electric vehicles models. The latest effort in this move is the new Lavoie Electric. As per Wertheimer, Lavoie cofounder and CEO, McLaren aimed to create a vehicle that is “reliable, faultlessly functional, powerful, stylish, having state of the art technology.” </p>

<p>The company has been aggressively pushing for its clean energy plans in regards of personal mobility segment. This is best showcased by Richard Clarke (a former F1 engineer) and electric vehicle expert Eliott Wertheimer and Albert Nassar, who are leading the Lavoie project. Under this new series, the Series 1 folding electric scooter is the first model that is inspired by the suspension system of a world class race car. This is also shown in the chunky tires to further soak the bumps and uneven surfaces while riding the scooter.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="682" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-1024x682.webp?x10805" alt="McLaren" class="wp-image-500480" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-1024x682.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-300x200.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-768x512.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-696x464.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-1068x711.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter-631x420.webp 631w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/McLaren-Applied-Lavoie-Series-1-electric-scooter.webp 1240w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The new e-scooter&#8217;s unique selling point is undoubtedly its portability factor. It is an easy to carry model that can be folded and carried around. This can be achieved with the push of a button. Thanks to its magnesium frame, the e-scooter weighs just 36 pounds and can run for up to 31 miles on a single full charge, with a full charge taking just a couple of hours.</p>

<p>Android Authority quotes a McLaren spokesperson to have hinted in an email statement that both company&#8217;s partnership came to its scheduled conclusion recently. This clearly indicates that there wasn&#8217;t any acrimony but the partnership has run its full course.</p>
<p>OnePlus <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/11/27/oneplus-announces-partnership-with-mclaren-will-launch-oneplus-6t-mclaren-edition-on-december-11/">announced its partnership with McLaren</a> in November 2018. The first product released after both innovative firms signed the dotted lines was the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/11/oneplus-6t-mclaren-edition-announced-with-10-gb-ram-30w-warp-charge-and-refreshed-design/">OnePus 6T McLaren Edition</a>. Last year, OnePlus also launch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/10/oneplus-7t-pro-and-oneplus-7t-mclaren-edition-launches-in-europe/">McLaren edition for the OnePlus 7T Pro</a>. The company even announced an <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/23/oneplus-7t-pro-5g-mclaren-announced-as-a-t-mobile-exclusive/">OP7T Pro 5G McLaren Edition</a> sold exclusively on T-Mobile.</p>
<p>The McLaren special editions released by OnePlus were known for their souped-up specs and exclusive designs. While fans were expecting a McLaren edition for the OnePlus 8 series, that may never happen except both companies enter into a fresh partnership.</p>

<p><figure id="attachment_227514" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-227514" style="width: 1620px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-227514 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition Hands On (15)" width="1620" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15.jpg 1620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-227514" class="wp-caption-text">OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>OnePlus followed up the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition with a successor in 2019 called the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-7t-pro-5g-mclaren/">OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition</a>. Of course, with better specs and an even more gorgeous design. Now, it seems OnePlus and McLaren may have come to the end of their run/race.</p>
<p>It has been discovered that OnePlus is no longer listed as a McLaren partner for the 2020 F1 season. The finding was made by a Redditor, and the folks at <em>XDA-Developers </em>were able to find out that the change didn&#8217;t happen until after March 29.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_281933" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-281933" style="width: 840px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-281933 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/OnePlus-7T-Pro-McLaren-Edition-launch.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition" width="840" height="444" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/OnePlus-7T-Pro-McLaren-Edition-launch.png 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/OnePlus-7T-Pro-McLaren-Edition-launch-300x159.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/OnePlus-7T-Pro-McLaren-Edition-launch-768x406.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/OnePlus-7T-Pro-McLaren-Edition-launch-696x368.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/OnePlus-7T-Pro-McLaren-Edition-launch-795x420.png 795w" sizes="(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-281933" class="wp-caption-text">OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The removal of the Chinese brand from the list of partners has resulted in the speculation that the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition will most likely not get a successor this year. So, if you have your eyes set on a OnePlus 8T Pro McLaren Edition, don&#8217;t get your hopes up.</p>
<p>While OnePlus may no longer have a partnership with McLaren, there most likely will be a special edition OnePlus 8T phone. We even believe it may even be one made in collaboration with another car manufacturer.</p>
<p>OnePlus recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/04/25/oneplus-lays-off-employees-in-europe-might-shift-headquarters-to-helsinki/">made changes to its business in Europe</a>. London which is its European headquarters may now cede that position to Helsinki, Finland. The company has also carried out recruitments in the Nordic region which seems to be its focus now. This brings us to our speculation as to which car company it may partner with.</p>
<p>Our guess is Koenigsegg, the Swedish sports-car manufacturer. Koenigsegg supercars are relatively popular, and if you play car racing games, you should be familiar with the brand. How does the “OnePlus 8T Pro Koenigsegg Edition” sound?</p>

After unveiling the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-6t-mclaren-edition/">OnePlus 6T Mclaren edition</a> globally on Tuesday, the company took the wraps off the same phone in India the next day. Officially, the phone will retail for Rs. 50,999 which is way higher than the priciest OnePlus 6T variant (8+256GB ~ Rs. 45999).</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-227514" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition Hands On (15)" width="1620" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15.jpg 1620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>At its heart, the OnePlus 6T <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mclaren">McLaren</a> edition is the same model that was launched back in October. The big difference in hardware is the 10GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This makes it the first <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> smartphone to feature 10GB of RAM memory. Another big addition is Warp Charge 30. This is the new 30W charging from the company and promises a day&#8217;s usage in just 20 minutes. Considering how we are already big fans of the Dash Charging tech from the company, this takes fast charging to a whole new level. The remaining specs are the same as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-6t/">regular 6T model</a>.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-FEATURED.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-227498" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-FEATURED.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition FEATURED" width="1620" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-FEATURED.jpg 1620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-FEATURED-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-FEATURED-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-FEATURED-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>Coming to the exterior, the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition features the iconic Papaya Orange color accents on the phone&#8217;s back. The accents continue to the sides as well and slowly fade away. Note that the orange accents pop out nicely only in certain lighting conditions. So, it&#8217;s not like the accents are extremely bright. Further, there&#8217;s the McLaren logo near the bottom half of the back of the device to reveal its true identity. Apart from the orange accents, another big highlight of the McLaren edition is the carbon fiber texture that runs underneath the glass back. At certain angles, the texture really pops out well. It&#8217;s quite reflective as well, similar to the Mirror Black model of the regular 6T.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-6.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-227504" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-6.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition Hands On (6)" width="1920" height="1079" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-6.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-6-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-6-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-6-1024x575.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></a></p>
<p>The exterior design additions are pretty subtle and on first glance, you could easily mistake the OP6T McLaren edition as the regular version, especially if you don&#8217;t look at the bottom half of the back. But what makes the McLaren edition really worth the money (if you are a McLaren fan), is the goodies that come inside. In the box, there&#8217;s an acrylic desk piece with McLaren carbon fiber logo, a carbon fiber case, and an AR-enabled Salute to Speed high-quality book that highlights the motor racing and smartphone history of the two manufacturers. Even the power cable and brick have McLaren design elements. The power cable, in particular, is special because it comes in the same iconic papaya orange color and has a braided cable design. Even the USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter has the same color. The power brick too features the McLaren logo as well as orange accents.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-16.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-227515" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-16.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition Hands On (16)" width="1620" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-16.jpg 1620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-16-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-16-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-16-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>There are certain McLaren inspired elements in the software as well. In certain parts of the phone, like the settings menu, the phone comes in papaya orange accents. Overall, if you are a McLaren fan, you are in for a treat.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-13.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-227512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-13.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition Hands On (13)" width="1620" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-13.jpg 1620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-13-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-13-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-13-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>For others, it&#8217;s really going to be hard to justify the additional cost.</p>
<p>However, it&#8217;s worth noting that the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition is still way cheaper than <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/10/oppo-find-x-lamborghini-edition-sold-out-4-seconds/">OPPO&#8217;s Lamborghini edition</a> or <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/10/16/huawei-mate-20-rs-porsche-design-announced-as-premium-edition-of-mate-20-pro/">Huawei&#8217;s Porsche design edition</a>. So, if you ever wished to get hold of performance automaker inspired flagship edition, this might be your cheapest bet.</p>

<p>The manufacturer shared a poster on Weibo announcing that the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will make arrive in China on December 14. <p>OnePlus and McLaren both took to their respective social media accounts to announce their new partnership and also to reveal there would be a co-hosted event on December 11. The URL of the page where OnePlus announces the partnership and the upcoming event contains “mclaren-6T”, so we are pretty sure the event is for the launch of the Oneplus 6T McLaren Edition.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-224946" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-edition.png?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6T McLaren edition" width="746" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-edition.png 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-edition-300x181.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 746px) 100vw, 746px" /></p>
<p>The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will have a different color, probably orange just like McLaren&#8217;s official color. It should also have the McLaren logo. With respect to specs, OnePlus may decide to add extra RAM and storage and bundle it with McLaren branded accessories.</p>
