Before the MatePad Pro launched, Huawei announced the MediaPad M6 series. The series includes the 8.4-inch model, the 8.4-inch Turbo Edition, and the 10.8-inch version. All three are powered by the Kirin 980 processor which makes them flagship tablets.

When they launched, all three tablets ran EMUI 9.1 based on Android Pie out of the box. Yesterday, Huawei announced that an open beta version of EMUI 10 is now available for the three tablets. This version of EMUI is based on Android 10.

Huawei says the open beta update brings an improvement in system performance and an improved AI assistant. You should also get a new user interface and a system-wide dark mode.

To get the beta update, you will have to go to the Huawei Club app and select EMUI Zone at the top right corner. There should be an option to select “Beta Upgrade”.

The MediaPad M6 series all have IPS LCD displays, the same 13MP rear camera, and 8MP front-facing camera. While the 8.4-inch and 10.8-inch versions are available in 4GB + 64GB, and 4GB + 128GB, the Turbo Edition comes in only one configuration – 6GB + 128GB.

The 10.8-inch model is also the only model with a fingerprint scanner and an audio jack. It also packs a larger battery capacity of 7500mAh against the 8.4-inch models 6100mAh battery capacity.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro is set to go on sale in Spain on Friday, December 13. Pre-orders are already live on the major retail sites and there is a pretty nice free gift for those who pre-order.

If you pre-order the Mate 30 Pro from Amazon Spain, MediaMarkt Spain, or PcComponentes, your phone will ship with a free MediaPad M6 10.8-inches. Yes, you read that right.

The Mate 30 Pro sold in Spain is the 8GB RAM + 256GB version and it is priced at €1099. The MediaPad M6 10.8-inch shipping with the phone is the Titanium Gray 64GB version with 4GB of RAM. PCComponentes says if you order today, you can get your order tomorrow while MediaMarkt says the available stock is limited. So we advise you to hurry if you don’t want to miss out on this deal.

Do note that both devices do not ship with Google Mobile Services but there are ways to get it installed. If you do not use GMS, the better for you. The Mate 30 Pro and MediaPad M6 ship with the Huawei App Gallery where you can download some of the apps you need. You can also download apps from other trusted sources.

The MediaPad M6 actually sells for €349, which means you are practically paying €750 for the Mate 30 Pro.

The MediaPad M6 has a 10.8-inch 2560 x 1600 display. It is powered by the Kirin 980 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. It also has a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie camera, quad speakers tuned by Harman Kardon, and packs a 7500mAh battery.

The Mate 30 Pro, on the other hand, has a 6.53-inch 1176 x 2400 display with a notch at the top. It is powered by the Kirin 990 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of expandable storage. The flagship phone has 40MP + 40MP +8MP + 3D ToF quad rear cameras, 32MP + ToF dual front-facing cameras, face ID, NFC, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Its battery capacity is 4500mAh and it has support for 40W fast charging, 27W wireless fast charging, and reverse wireless charging.

The MediaPad M6 is Huawei’s flagship tablet for this year. Available in three variants – 10.8”, 8.4”, and an 8.4” Turbo Edition, Huawei has begun rolling out a new update that brings optimizations and new features to all three models.

The update arrives as EMUI 9.1.1.137 and the changelog says the fingerprint unlocking process, gaming experience, PC mode, and input method have all been optimized. The changelog also says that the number of apps with support for Huawei’s Parallel View now works with 54 apps.

Parallel View is a special multitasking feature that Huawei debuted with the MediaPad M6. Unlike stock Android’s split-screen multitasking, you can open two instances of an app in Parallel View.

The MediaPad M6 is powered by the Kirin 980 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. The Turbo Edition has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Irrespective of the screen size, the resolution is 2560 x 1600 across models.

The tablets pack a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. Only the 10.8-inch version has a fingerprint scanner and it is situated in front. All three have four-channel speakers, charge via USB-C, run Android 9 Pie, and are available in WiFi-only and LTE variants.

Huawei will refresh its MediaPad line of tablets this week when it unveils the Nova 5 series. The MediaPad M6, like its predecessor, should come in multiple variants including a 10-inch model whose renders and specs have leaked.

With respect to its design, the MediaPad M6 will have an aluminum body. There is a single camera on its back that protrudes, and below the sensor is an LED flash.

The MediaPad M6 has two speaker grilles at the bottom along with three pogo pins for connecting to a keyboard. The M5 had longer grilles for the speakers and they were on the back and not on the sides. We are pretty sure there are two speakers on the opposite side of the M6 since the MediaPad M5 comes with quad-speakers and the leaked specs say the M6 also has quad-speakers. These are Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby Atmos as seen inscribed on the back. Huawei seems to have ditched its Histen audio technology for Dolby Atmos.

On the side of the tablet are the volume control buttons, the power button, a USB Type-C port, MicroSD card tray, and the 3.5mm audio jack. It is nice to see Huawei bring back the audio jack after it removed it from last year’s model.

According to RODENT950, the MediaPad M6 has a 10.7-inch 2K LCD display with Dolby Vision (inscribed on the back). It is powered by the Kirin 980, the same chipset used in the Mate 20 and P30 series. This is a big deal since Huawei usually uses the previous generation flagship SoC for its flagship tablets instead of the current one. Samsung will also be ditching that tradition this year and will instead equip the Galaxy Tab S5 with the Snapdragon 855 and not the Snapdragon 845.

The rear camera on the tablet is a 13MP sensor while the front-facing camera is an 8MP sensor. These are the same cameras as last year’s model but the sensors might be different or the apertures larger.

The MediaPad M6 will have a front-facing fingerprint scanner and also have M-Pen support. We are not sure if the stylus will ship with the tablet or be sold separately. Last but not least is the battery capacity which has remained unchanged at 7500mAh.

The MediaPad M6 should run Android Pie out of the box with EMUI 9 on top. We expect it to come with some new software features such as AR Measure, Share with OneHop, and the new GPU Turbo 3.0.

The tablet will come in two color variants – gray as seen in the above renders and gold which we saw in the first promotional material.

It has been more than a year since Huawei announced the MediaPad M5 series, with the exception of the MediaPad M5 Lite which was announced in September 2018. A new info says that Huawei will announce the MediaPad M6 alongside the Nova 5 on June 21.

The info comes from Slashleaks contributor @Rodent950 who shared a poster of the upcoming tablet on Twitter. The poster was originally uploaded on Weibo by @宅数码Kael (Home Digital Kael) and it shows the upcoming tablet.

Thanks to the poster, we know the device will have even bezels surrounding it. It will also have a single rear camera and a USB Type-C port. Another key info we can make out from the image is a 3.5mm audio jack. This is a big deal since Huawei removed the audio jack o the MediaPad  M5.

The MediaPad M6 will come in Champagne Gold as shown in the image but there should be at least one more color variant. We also expect it to come with the Kirin 970 chipset, have quad-speakers and a fingerprint scanner, and run EMUI 9 based on Android Pie.
