The launch of this new chipset introduced the new Dimensity 700-series of processors from the company.</p>
<p>At the time of launching the chipset, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek">MediaTek</a> had not revealed details about which manufacturers will be among the first to launch devices powered by this new chipset. Today, the company has revealed that information.</p>

<p>MediaTek has confirmed three Chinese smartphone makers &#8212; Huawei, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/OPPO">OPPO</a>, and Xiaomi as the first brands which will launch devices powered by the Dimensity 720 SoC, reports China-based <a href="https://money.udn.com/money/story/5612/4726664">Economic Daily</a>. However, there&#8217;s no timeline for this, but we expect something in the coming weeks.</p>
<p>Coming to the chipset, it is manufactured using <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc">TSMC</a>‘s 7nm process. It comes with an integrated 5G modem that supports 2CC carrier aggregation, VoNR, 5G/4G Dual SIM dual standby, and sub-6GHz 5G.</p>

<p>It packs two <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/arm">ARM</a> Cortex-A76 big cores operating at 2GHz in the octa-core CPU, which the company claims to improve the responsiveness of applications for fluid user experience. It also packs an ARM Mali G57 GPU, up to 12GB fast LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage for fast read/write speeds.</p>
<p>This MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC has support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/90hz-display">90Hz high frame-rate displays</a> along with enhanced video streaming capabilities like MiraVision and HDR10+. It supports up to 64-megapixel single sensor or a dual-camera setup consisting of a 20-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors, with AI-backed features powered by integrated APU.</p>
<p>It also comes with MediaTek <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> UltraSave technology which uses both network and content awareness intelligence to manage the modem’s operating mode in real-time to further extend the battery life. To minimize the power consumption of always-on voice assistants, the company has included a feature called Voice Wakeup.</p>

Today, the company has announced yet another chipset which is aimed towards mid-range smartphones &#8212; MediaTek Dimensity 720.</p>
<p>The chipset is slotted just below the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/08/mediatek-dimensity-800-with-integrated-5g-modem-for-low-priced-phones-announced/">Dimensity 800</a> and the flagship chipset in the lineup Dimensity 1000 and 1000+. It seems that MediaTek doesn&#8217;t want to leave any stones unturned and launch a chipset for every possible price range, similar to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-333461 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MediaTek-Dimensity-720.png?x10805" alt="MediaTek Dimensity 720 Chipset" width="1200" height="675" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MediaTek-Dimensity-720.png 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MediaTek-Dimensity-720-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MediaTek-Dimensity-720-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MediaTek-Dimensity-720-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MediaTek-Dimensity-720-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MediaTek-Dimensity-720-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/MediaTek-Dimensity-720-747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The MediaTek Dimensity 720 is manufactured using <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tsmc">TSMC</a>&#8216;s 7nm process. It comes with an integrated 5G modem that supports 2CC carrier aggregation, VoNR, 5G/4G Dual SIM dual standby, and sub-6GHz 5G.</p>
<p>It also has MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology which uses both network and content awareness intelligence to manage the modem&#8217;s operating mode in real-time to further extend the battery life.</p>
<p>The chipset packs two <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/arm">ARM</a> Cortex-A76 big cores operating at 2GHz in the octa-core CPU, which the company claims to improve the responsiveness of applications for fluid user experience. It also packs an ARM Mali G57 GPU, up to 12GB fast LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage for fast read/write speeds.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">EDITOR&#8217;S PICK:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/14/samsung-expecting-6g-to-launch-by-2028/">Samsung announces plans for 6G technology; launch expected by the end of this Decade</a></strong></p>
<p>This new Dimensity 720 SoC has support for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/90hz-display">90Hz high frame-rate displays</a> along with enhanced video streaming capabilities like MiraVision HDR10+ with support for Dynamic Range Remapping.</p>
<p>As for the camera configuration, it supports up to 64-megapixel single sensor or a dual-camera setup consisting of a 20-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors. It packs a range of AI-related features that are powered by MediaTek&#8217;s integrated APU.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-333462 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Dimensity-720-Features.png?x10805" alt="MediaTek Dimensity 720 Features" width="887" height="1378" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Dimensity-720-Features.png 887w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Dimensity-720-Features-193x300.png 193w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Dimensity-720-Features-768x1193.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Dimensity-720-Features-659x1024.png 659w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Dimensity-720-Features-696x1081.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Dimensity-720-Features-270x420.png 270w" sizes="(max-width: 887px) 100vw, 887px" /></p>
<p>To minimize the power consumption of always-on voice assistants, the company has included a feature called Voice Wakeup (VoW). It also supports dual-mic noise suppression so that voice assistant can hear the audio more clearly.</p>
<p>With the launch of Dimensity 800-series and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/07/mediatek-dimensity-1000-announced-with-higher-refresh-rate-support/">Dimensity 1000-series</a>, the company was focused on gaming-related features as well, which doesn&#8217;t seem to be the case for this Dimensity 720. The focus of this new chipset seems to be global sub-6GHz 5G support.</p>
<p>The company has confirmed that the MediaTek Dimensity 720 chipset will be powering the mid-range smartphones in regions like North America, Europe, and Asia. However, the company has not provided any timeline for the launch of devices powered by this SoC.</p>
