Meizu M6 Note is one of the industry’s finest mid-range models which were released last year. The device comes in a number of storage variants of which the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage is the highest available. Interestingly, the Meizu M6 Note 4GB + 64GB variant has now got a 500 Yuan price cut on Meizu’s flagship store Chinese e-commerce store Gomes. This price cut brings the price tag down to 1,199 Yuan (~$189) but you don’t get too excited, as this is just a temporary price cut which would elapse in the next couple of hours.

It would be recalled that Meizu first announced a 300 Yuan price cut across the board for all variants of the M6 Note. The reduction has since become effective and is reflected in the listed prices of the models on retail websites like Jingdong, Suning etc. This new reduced price is a limited time offer and only affects the Silver coloured variant of the device. Other colour variants cost s little higher.

The Meizu Note 6 was first announced in August last year and came out as a unique smartphone. The phone signalled the return of Meizu to Qualcomm chips as it features a Snapdragon 625 chip. We never saw the Qualcomm chip coming and it was indeed a fitting surprise. That wasn’t the only surprise package on the smartphone. The M6 Note also features a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a 12 MP Sony IMX362 sensor with f1.9 aperture, 1.4um individual pixel size, and 6P lens, teaming up with a Samsung 2L7 secondary sensor. Meizu also included the Quad-LED flash first used on the Meizu E2. The rear camera also comes with Dual Phase Detection, Full pixel Dual-core focus, up to 0.03s fast. On the other hand, there is a 16MP selfie shooter at the front. The device was also available in 3GB + 16GB variant, 3GB + 32GB version and 4GB + 64GB version. Meizu later added a 4GB + 32GB version.

Meizu has officially announced a Flame Red version of the mid-range Meizu Note 6. The premium smartphone was launched a couple of months back and before now is available in Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Blue and Obsidian Black colours. The Flame Red colour variant adds more options for buyers to choose from. 

The new M6 Note Flame Red variant only differs in its colour from the others and is available in the 3GB + 32GB memory variant only. The device retains the metal unibody and also dazzles both in design and specifications. It also features the mBack button at the front which functions as a fingerprint sensor. At the back, the M6 Note Flame Red also features a similar design comprising a dual camera setup located at the middle while the Quad-LED flash is integrated with the upper antenna band. The edges are well curved to ensure that users can get a good grip.

As a reminder, the Meizu M6 Note sports a 5.5-inch 1080p LCD display and is powered by an energy saving Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with a GPU that brings a 71% efficiency over the previous generation. Meizu released its sleek mid-range smartphone the M6 Note on August 23 and the device went on sale on September 1 both via offline and online channels. The company has just announced the sales performance of the M6 Note during its first sales. Meizu disclosed that it sold over 200,000 M6 Note units both offline and online before running out of stock. That means the figures would have been more than that if there were enough stock available. Meizu also disclosed that they are trying to restock for another round of sales.

Meizu has finally taken the wraps off the M6 Note or Charm Blue Note 6 if you like in an action packed ceremony in China this afternoon. The Meizu M6 Note comes studded with lots of surprises, the most spectacular being that the mid-range smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. We never saw this coming until very recently when a poster was spotted showing there will be an Helio P25-powered version and a Snapdragon 625 version as well. The device is thus, the first Meizu device to pack a Snapdragon processor ever and just the second Meizu model with a dual camera setup. The M6 Note also comes with a beautiful design, utilizing the nice quad-LED flash which made its debut on the Meizu E2 months back. Most of all, the device has a decent price tag which starts at 1099 Yuan (around $165).

Design & Specifications

The Meizu M6 Note comes with the traditional Meizu design on a metal unibody but with some little tweaking here and there that differentiates the device from previous models. It happens to be the first smartphone Meizu is releasing under the newly created Charm Blue Division and they did make sure the device dazzles both in design and specifications. It features the Meizu mBack button at the front which also functions as a fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor is a fast one, touted to unlock the device in just 0.2 seconds and also supports AliPay fingerprint payment.  At the back, the M6 Note has the dual cameras located at the middle while the Quad-LED flash is integrated with the upper antenna band. The edges are well curved to ensure that users can get a good grip.

Talking about the specifications, the Meizu M6 Note sports a 5.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. As far as the Dual cameras go, the M6 Note features a camera setup which would perhaps become the main focus of the device in the coming days. The rear camera consists of a 12 MP Sony IMX362 sensor with f1.9 aperture, 1.4um individual pixel size, and 6P lens, teaming up with a Samsung 2L7 secondary sensor. Meizu gave the M6 Note to two professionals photographers who captured a couple of sample photos with the camera and their reviews were all positive. The rear camera comes with Dual Phase Detection, Full pixel Dual-core focus, up to o.o3s fast. One of the reviewers, famous Photographer Amberly Valentine is reported to have described the camera’s picture quality and dynamic capture speed as amazing. Meizu even went as far as comparing the camera with that of the flagship Huawei P10. We’ll leave you to judge the performance(see the sample photos at the end of the article). The M6 Note also packs a 16MP front camera for stunning selfies.

The M6 Note also packs a large 4,000mAh battery which is said to be enough to withstand up to 10 hours of game play. The large battery capacity combined with the Snapdragon 625 chip ensures the device is power efficient. The device also comes with mCharge 18W fast charge support. The device also comes with dual SIM slots, 4G LTE and runs Flyme 6 with Meizu’s One Mind AI based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

Pricing & Availability

The Meizu M6 Note comes in Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Blue and Obsidian Black colours and is priced as follows; 3GB + 16Gb variant -1099 Yuan (~$165), 3GB + 32GB version – 1299 Yuan (~$195) and finally the 4GB + 64 GB version will sell for 1699 Yuan (~$255). These are pretty decent prices for such a sleek device. The M6 Note will go on sale on Meizu Mall, TMall, JD.com, Suning and other online platforms as from September 1, 10.00 AM. While offline sales will begin on Meizu Store and other stores in China on September 2. Meanwhile, reservation for the first sale is already open on the online platforms.

Meizu will be launching the M6 Note on August 23, just two days away and ahead of that event, we have got what is likely Note 6’s real photos showing the mid-ranger from different angles. This is the first time the M6 Note’s real photos are making the rounds and quite aptly, it doesn’t look too spectacular but there are some interesting features coming on the mid-range smartphone. 

One major thing we can take out of the leaked photos is the dual camera setup at the rear which makes the M6 Note only the second Meizu device to have such after the Pro 7. We have already seen the sample photo shot by the Note 6’s rear cameras and it shows potentials of a setup with a fast focus. Another unique design is the LED flash at the rear which is a similar quad-LED flash as used on the Meizu E2. The LED flash is located directly on top the antenna band line. This sort of confirms an earlier leak that the device would feature the same flash as the E2.

The leaked photos only capture the rear view of the device but we have already seen the front view of the device in an earlier leak and it looks very much like the M5 Note and previous Meizu model. Another thing we can take out of the leaked shots is the presence of the 3.5mm audio jack, a non-removable back cover and the USB port which isn’t a USB-C port.

The M6 Note is expected to feature a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution and will be powered by MediaTek’s latest mid-range Helio P25 chip with the Mali-T880 GPU firing up the graphics. The processor will be backed by 3GB of RAM on some models while others will have 4GB of RAM coupled with either be a 32GB and 64GB storage variant respectively. A device purported to be the M6 Note was spotted on Geekbench recently with a Snapdragon 625 processor. We can’t say for sure if the device is real or not but if that is launched, it would be an interesting addition.

The launch event will take place at the Beijing Performing Arts Centre by 11 AM and it comes with the theme- “Stay True” which is already the subject of series of memes on Weibo. The posters and launch invite clearly reveal that the Meizu M6 Note is the model that would be unveiled during the conference.

Despite still basking in the media attention the release of the Pro 7 elicited, Meizu is reportedly working on a new model which is the M6 Note, a successor to the M5 Note released last year. The M5 Note turned out to be a very popular device when it went on sale, with over a million units sold in just 21 seconds during its first sales. Some of the specifications of the Meizu M6 Note have reportedly surfaced online, as usual, from China’s Weibo the hub of China leaks.  

According to the leaked specifications list, the Meizu M6 Note will feature a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device will be powered by one of MediaTek’s latest chip, the Helio P25 (MT6757T) chip which is a 64-bit octa-core processor with Mali-T880 GPU. The processor will be backed by 3GB of RAM on some models while others will have 4GB of RAM. The storage will be either a 32GB and 64GB variant respectively. The M6 Note will also come with a dual camera setup which the tipster discloses will be like the Xiaomi Redmi Pro’s setup, that is a Sony IMX 258 main sensor. The camera is a 13MP sensor while the device will get its juice from a 4,000mAh battery.
