Meizu India had introduced the Meizu PRO 7 smartphone was in India in the previous month after advertising its arrival on social media. It seems that the Chinese manufacturer has also released the Meizu M6 phone in India as it has been found listed on Amazon India through third-party seller.

The handset was launched in September 2017 in China in two models such as 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 16 GB storage + 2 GB RAM with respective pricing of 699 Yuan and 899 Yuan. Also, the smartphone was made available in multiple colors like black, blue, silver and gold. Amazon India’s listing (available in the source) for Meizu M6 only the variant that has 16 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM. It is listed with a pricing of Rs. 7,996 ($117). The handset has been made available only in black color.

The handset sports a polycarbonate chassis with a metallic appeal. It houses a 5.2-inch display that supports HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels along with a conventional aspect ratio of 16:9. Below the screen is the mBack home button that is embedded with a fingerprint reader.

The MediaTek MT6750 chipset that features an octa-core processor that clocks at 1.5 GHz is present under the hood of Meizu M6. The handset includes a microSD card slot for additional storage. It is fitted with a rear mounted camera of 13-megapixel and a frontal shooter of 8-megapixel. The handset is packed with a 3,070mAh battery.

In related news, Meizu’s Founder Jack Wong has confirmed that the Meizu 16 series will be debuting in August. The Meizu 16 series is expected to include Snapdragon 845 powered Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus smartphones. It is speculated that there will be a lower version of the Meizu 16 that will feature Snapdragon 710 SoC. The Meizu 16 phones are expected to arrive with some advanced features such as 8 GB of RAM, notch-less display with in-screen fingerprint reader, special heat dissipation system, triple camera setup and 32W fast charging.

Meizu yesterday officially launched yet another sleek smartphone, more of a smaller version of the M6 Note. The Meizu M6 utilizes a classic design and is available in four colors. One of the main features of the device is the camera setup, both at the front and rear aspects. At the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, self-timer, and other features. 

On the other hand, the Meizu M6 packs at its rear, a 13MP camera with an RGBW color sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens. Meizu has again worked with ArcSoft on image optimization algorithms to improve features like noise reduction and HDR photography. This improvement seems to have resulted in a powerful camera capable of capturing crisp clear shots. The Chinese tech company has now shared some samples shot by the M6’s main camera and just like the M6 Note, the photos are credible evidence of the potentials the M6’s camera holds.

The Meizu M series (non-Note) is Meizu’s affordable line of smartphones. The Meizu M6 is the sixth generation model and Meizu says its “Back to Basic” for the line. Judging from the specs, it is obvious that the Chinese manufacturer is going with the “don’t fix it if it is not broken” ideology.

Meizu M6 Design

The Meizu M6’s biggest upgrade over its predecessor is its design. At first look, it appears to be made of metal, don’t let your eyes fool you, the body is still polycarbonate. To achieve the metallic look, Meizu said they used a process called Non-Conductive Vacuum Metallization (NCVM) technology. Those pseudo-antenna lines are handcrafted to give the phone a premium appearance. To finish off the design, the Meizu logo is laser-engraved.

The front has also received some slight changes. The sensor is now pilled shaped and on the left, while the camera is on the right. Meizu has also switched to white fronts for some color variants and black for others instead of black for all.

Meizu M6 Specs

The Meizu M6 as previously reported features the same 5.2-inch HD display present in the Meizu M5. It is powered by an unspecified 1.5GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB or 3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of built-in storage.

The M6 has a hybrid dual SIM slot, so you can throw in two SIM cards or swap out a SIM for up to 128GB of MicroSD storage.

Meizu has beefed up the front camera in the M6. The front facing camera is now an 8MP f/2.0 sensor, up from the 5MP sensor in the M5 series.  On the rear is still a 13MP camera with a RGBW color sensor. Meziu has again worked with ArcSoft on image optimization algorithms to improve features like noise reduction and HDR photography.

The signature mTouch fingerprint technology is buried beneath the home button and Meizu claims it unlocks the device in just 0.2s. At the top of the device is an audio jack and at the bottom is a micro USB port flanked by speaker grilles. It comes with Flyme 6 based on Android Nougat out of the box in addition to Meizu’s One Mind AI Engine.

The Meizu M6 packs a 3070mAh battery like the M5 which should not come as a surprise seeing as it has the same display size and resolution.

Meizu M6 Pricing and Availability

The Meizu M6 will come in black, blue, silver, and gold. The 2GB RAM +16GB ROM model will sell for ¥699 (~$106) and the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM version will get a ¥899 (~$137) price tag.

Meizu sent out invites for its upcoming smartphone the M6, a few days ago. The Chinese manufacturer has scheduled September 20 for the launch of the smartphone.

Specification details of the entry level phone leaked last week, revealing that the phone shares the exact specs as its predecessor. However, rumors say the only noticeable difference between both phones will be their overall design. The Meizu M6 is expected to ditch the polycarbonate body for a metal one and now there is an image that confirms it.

Pictures of the phone were posted on Weibo and one of them shows the rear of the phone. Truly, the design is different, not only from the Meizu M5, but from other metal-clad Meizu phones.

Unlike other Meizu phones that have chrome painted antenna lines for their gold units, this one has black, and the design is different. Instead of maintaining a straight line when it gets to the edges, it slopes downwards in the top antenna line and upwards in the bottom antenna line. The camera and LED flash haven’t changed. It doesn’t even get the quad led design.

There is also an image of the front and it corresponds with earlier leaks. The home button doubles as a fingerprint scanner and there are bezels on all sides.

The Meizu M6 launches on September 20 and is rumored to keep the ¥799 (~$122) starting price from the previous model.

A few days ago, real images of the Meizu M6 surfaced online. The images also revealed the specifications of the phone. Today, Meizu has officially announced that the budget phone will launch on September 20.

As is known of Meizu, the manufacturer couldn’t help but stir up some controversy with its unusual invites. For the M6, it has sent a pair of sneakers as an invitation to the event.

The teaser poster has the same sneakers and also the phrase “Dare to Basic” written on it. The Chinese text also loosely translates into “Basic models should not be hard to do?”. Considering the fact that the leaked specs confirms that the Meizu M6 will have the  same specs as its predecessors, it sure shouldn’t be hard to make.

For those who don’t remember the specs of the M5, the phone has a 5.2-inch 720 display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and is powered by the MT6750 processor. The only major change rumored to come to the M6 is the switch from a plastic unibody to metal.

The Meizu M6 launch event will be held at the Beijing Performing Arts Center and will begin at 1500hrs local time.

Almost a year ago, the budget Meizu M5 was announced. It came with a larger screen than its predecessor, the M3, but kept the processor and a bunch of other features. Images of the Meizu M6 have been posted on Weibo by leaker @Old Technology (@老爆科技) and they also reveal the specs of the device which to be honest is exactly the same as that of the M5.

The pictures of the phone show CPU-Z running, revealing the specs of the device. The M6 is revealed to be powered by the same MediaTek MT6750 octa-core SoC that powers the M5. The M6 also keeps the 5.2-inch display with its 720 x 1280 resolution.

The Meizu M6 packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. The M5 has a 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM variant too, so we should expect the same for the M6.

Since the M6 and M5 are basically the same, what has chnged? First, the design. The M6, based on these images will ditch the black front that was present in the M5 for a white one. To be fair, I think this is a bad idea.

Another visible change is the position of the sensor and camera. Their positions have been swapped in the M6 and the camera sensor looks bigger. So we can presume the camera configuration will at least be different.

Although we can’t see the rear of the phone, sources say that is where the biggest change lies. Instead of a plastic unibody design, the Meizu M6 will have a metal one.

There is no news about when the Meizu M6 will launch but when it does, it is expected to take on Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5A.
