Along with the Meizu 16th and Meizu C9 entry-level smartphone, the company has also launched another budget smartphone in the Indian market — Meizu M6T. It comes in two color options — Black and Red for a price tag of Rs. 7,999 which roughly converts to $113. The phone comes with Reliance Jio cashback offer worth Rs. 2,200 and 50GB additional 4G data.

The smartphone features a 5.7-inch HD+ display with 1440 x 720 pixels screen resolution, 2.5D curved glass screen, and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.5GHz Octa-Core 64-bit MediaTek MT6750 processor, coupled with Mali T860 GPU.

It packs 3GB RAM and comes with 32GB internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot, allowing users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 128GB. The phone has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security.

As for the camera, it comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX278 RGBW sensor, LED flash, along with a 2-megapixel secondary rear camera to capture depth information for portrait shots. On the front side, it is equipped with an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

Meizu announced a bunch of products today in Indonesia. They are the Meizu 16th, Meizu M6T, Meizu C9, and the Meizu POP and EP52 Lite Bluetooth earphones. Save for the Meizu C9, all the other products already launched in China, so we won’t bore you with their specs and features.

The Meizu C9 is an entry-level smartphone for the Indonesian market. It has a 5.45-inch HD screen and a polycarbonate removable cover. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. A MicroSD card slot will allow users to add up to an extra 128GB.

The Meizu C9 has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. It runs Android Oreo out of the box and packs a 3100mAh battery. Meizu says it also has dual SIM support.

The Meizu C9 comes in Space Black and Ocean Blue and is priced at Rp. 999,000. The phone will be available on JD.id.

The Meizu M6T which has much better specs will sell for Rp. 1,499,000 for the 2GB + 16GB model and Rp. 1,799,000 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB version. The flagship Meizu 16th is the most expensive of them all with an Rp. 7,999,000 price tag. This gets you the 8GB RAM + 128GB version.

The Meizu POP Wireless Earbuds will sell for the same price as the Meizu C9 – Rp. 999,000 while the EP52 Lite is priced at Rp. 399,000. All of the new products will be sold on JD.id but they are not yet listed as at the time of writing.

Meizu, the Chinese manufacturer, which already has a presence in India but has not been active in the country, is reportedly planning to launch its budget smartphone Meizu M6T in India. The smartphone was originally launched in May in China.

According to the report, the Meizu M6T could soon launch in India and the China-based company is in talks with Flipkart for selling the device in India. The report adds that initially the phone will be exclusively available through Flipkart but later it could be available with an offer from Reliance Jio.

The Meizu M6T features a 5.7-inch HD+ display with screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz along with Mali T860 GPU.

The phone comes with two memory configuration — 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot that enables users to further expand the phone’s storage up to 128GB.

On the camera front, the smartphone sports a dual rear camera comprising a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, and Sony IMX278 and a 2-megapixel secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture. On the front side, it has an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling, with f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS/AGPS and a micro USB port. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back panel. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box with Flyme OS 6.2 on top and is backed up by a 3,300mAh non-removable battery.

In China, the 3GB RAM model is priced at 799 Yuan (approx. $122) while the 4GB RAM costs 1,099 Yuan (approximately $168). We are expecting similar pricing for the smartphone in the Indian market as well. Going by the specifications, we expect the smartphone to fall under the budget segment and will compete against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 5, Oppo’s Realme 1, among others.

When it comes to the price range under $200 or €200, you’ll probably end up buying a Xiaomi phone in the current market standing. But Meizu is putting a lot of efforts in this price range and to some extent, the company’s devices have started to get attention. This week, the company announced the new Meizu M6T, a device which will cost around €100 and is expected to affect the sales of Xiaomi Redmi 5. Here’s an in-depth comparison between the Meizu M6T vs Xiaomi Redmi 5.

Design

Despite the fact that it was launched in elegant shades, Meizu M6T is not really the best phone that you can get when it comes to aesthetics and build quality. It has a cheap plastic design, but this will hopefully make the signal stronger. Xiaomi Redmi 5 has a higher quality metal back, it is more compact and even thinner, even though displays come with the same size. However, Meizu M6T is the only one among the two coming with a comfortable mBack fingerprint reader which can help you navigate in the UI through gestures.

Display

Two 5.7-inch panels with an HD+ resolution and the IPS technology. With these specs, do not expect to see a noticeable difference between the viewing quality of these two panels. HD is the minimum resolution you can get in this price range, but it is also rare to find a Full HD phone under $120. Further, the low resolution helps a lot with the energy consumption.

Hardware/Software

There is nothing to compare when it comes to hardware: Xiaomi Redmi 5 wins. It sports an octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC by Qualcomm which can run at a max frequency of 1.8 GHz. And it is a much better processor than the octa-core Mediatek MT6750T present on the Meizu M6T. It is faster and way more powerful. On the other hand, note that Meizu M6T has a variant with 64 GB of internal storage which is not available with the Redmi 5. Both phones come with Android Nougat out of the box, but given that they are heavily customized with Xiaomi’s and Meizu’s own user interfaces it does not have a strong impact. Both these devices are full of additional features and when we talk about software it is all about individual tastes, even though we prefer MIUI as its a bit more functional and user-friendly.

Camera

Given that these are devices sold for less than $150 we can not define them camera phones, but Meizu M6T has a camera which seems very interesting for this price range. It is a dual setup with 13 + 2 MP resolution which can calculate depth for the portrait mode. Further, it has a good 8 MP selfie camera with a decently-bright f/2.0 aperture. We believe Meizu M6T is a better camera phone than its opponent.

Battery

3300 mAh batteries in each case, so we will have to test them to know exactly which one will last more. However, we are kinda sure that, just like Xiaomi Redmi 5, Meizu M6T will provide a great battery life. It has low-energy hardware components and an above-average battery capacity which should allow it to last up to 2 days with a low/moderate use, just as Xiaomi Redmi 5 does. Note that only Xiaomi Redmi 5 supports fast charging technology, so you will probably have to wait for a bit more in order for the Meizu M6T to charge to 100%.

Price

Price is not really the element which establishes the winner as they are very similar.

In China, Meizu M6T starts from €108/$125 for the base configuration, while Xiaomi Redmi 5 starts from €103/$120. You should go for the Meizu M6T if camera and selfies are your main concern. Otherwise, Xiaomi Redmi 5 is a better choice. For now, the availability of Meizu M6T has been announced only in China and we do not know if and when it will be available outside the country. So it looks like the Redmi 5 is the only choice if you do not live in China.

Meizu once again deserves some accolades for crafting another beautifully designed smartphone in the M6T. Meizu M6T was launched on Tuesday (May 29) with a price tag of less than 1000 yuan. The price starts at 799 Yuan ($125) while the topmost variant with 4GB + 64GB storage costs just 1099 Yuan ($171). 

The Meizu M6T comes with a MediaTek MT6750 chipset onboard which might be disappointing to some but the design compensates for the seemingly poor chipset. The device comes with a 5.7-inch LTPS Full-view display with a 2.5D curved glass on top. The display has an HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720p and the device adopts the 18:9 aspect ratio. There is no physical mBack button under the display but the device features the  Super mBack button first used on the M6S. The device is available in 3+32GB, 4+32GB and 4+64GB versions, all expandable up to 128GB via microSD. The device has a dimension of 152.3×73.8.4mm and weighs 145g.

The M6T is basically a budget device but the finishing looks quite premium. The back cover is made of polycarbonate material which is available in Black, Champagne Gold, Gold, and Coral Red. The rear design includes a dual camera setup with the sensors arranged vertically at the middle. The rear camera is a 13MP + 2MP IMX278 RGBW setup which is touted to be good for bokeh portraits. On the other hand, the front camera is an 8MP f/2.0 shooter with ArcSoft beauty algorithms for decent portraits.

The Meizu M6T is fuelled by a 3300mAh battery with 5V 1.5A charging, which isn’t exactly fast charge, but decent enough for a budget device. Meizu may not be one of the top-selling smartphone manufacturers in the world but it will be naive not to admit that their products keep other manufacturers on their toes.

Today, the Chinese-based company released a new device – the Meizu M6T, bringing the total number of its phones to 22 (under Blue Charm) since it began making phones. At the event which took place in Beijing, Meizu’s VP Li Nan announced that the Blue Charm division has sold over 50 million phones to date.

That is no doubt a small figure beside that of rival Xiaomi’s Redmi. The low figure is partly attributed to Meizu’s refusal to expand to other markets. However, things may change soon as the company restructured its leadership on May 15.

Li Nan is now a senior vice-president and the chief strategy officer while Yang Hao heads the marketing department and takes on the title of CMO. Both of them will report to CEO and Chairman Huang Zhang.

Meizu has announced its latest release for the budget segment, the Meizu M6T powered by a Mediatek chipset and dual cameras at the back. The phone is meant to take on the super cheap smartphones that retail for less than 1000 Yuan (~$150) which means the 6T will compete with a couple of popular Xiaomi phones in this segment. Despite its sub-1000 Yuan placement, the phone isn’t all about budget hardware. There are a few features that makes it stand apart from the competition and let’s take a look at them in detail down below.

The Meizu M6T is powered by the MediaTek MT6750 chipset. Personally, I would have preferred something like the SD450 on board, similar to the Xiaomi Redmi 5 but it should still be good enough for powering a budget device. There are three storage variants available: 3+32GB, 4+32GB, and 4+64GB. Further, the back is polycarbonate and looks pretty premium for a low-end device. The dual cameras are arranged vertically at the center with the flash above and the fingerprint sensor below. I believe this is the first time Meizu has decided to go with a rear placed fingerprint sensor. Overall, the M6T is a good looking budget phone and personally, I would prefer it over Redmi 5’s back design. You get three color options, black, champagne gold, and a red one too!

The display is pretty big at 5.7-inches and there’s a decent HD+ 1440 x 720p resolution too, so it conforms to the recent 18:9 display trend. But what makes the Meizu M6T really special among its peers is the presence of a dual camera setup at the back. The setup is just basic with a 13MP + 2MP IMX278 RGBW setup, said to be good for bokeh portraits. The front features an 8MP f/2.0 shooter with ArcSoft beauty algorithms. Overall, the M6T boasts a better camera setup than the Redmi 5.

Another highlight of the Meizu M6T is the presence of the Super mBack button. Its not really a physical button, but this one button can take care of all of your navigation needs. First seen on the Meizu M6S, now it’s present on almost all of the company’s recent phones. Inside, the phone has a 3300mAh battery with 5V 1.5A charging, which isn’t exactly fast charge, but decent enough for a budget device. Other features include infrared sensor, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi n, and support for TDD-LTE B34/B38/B39/B40/B41, and FDD-LTE B1/B3/B8.

For a starting price of 799 Yuan ($125), the Meizu M6T looks like a winner. If you want better variants, you’ll have to shell out 999 Yuan ($155) for 4GB + 32GB and 1099 Yuan ($171) for 4GB + 64GB variants respectively. Note that the storages are expandable up to 128GB via MicroSD.

Meizu is expected to launch the entry-level M6T in China tomorrow (May 26). The device has been in the news for quite a while now with the specs and pictures of the device already in the open. Also, Meizu recently released a camera sample of the device shot with the rear camera. Meizu’s CEO Li Nan has now shared a photo which he hinted was shot using the selfie camera of the device.

The sample photo is quite bright for an entry-level device. The front camera sensor is an 8MP sensor and the output comes with impressive, vivid clarity. Of course, the picture is aided by the bright sunny daylight but we have seen cameras perform woefully even in bright light.

It comes with 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB RAM models paired with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage respectively. It features 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup and a selfie shooter of 8-megapixel. The handset receives power from 3,230mAh battery. The device also comes with a metallic body and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Meizu M6T is an entry-level smartphone scheduled to launch on May 29. Live photos of the phone have leaked online and they give us a closer look at what to expect.

Meizu has equipped the M6T with dual rear cameras that are arranged vertically and positioned in the middle of the phone. Below the camera sensors is the fingerprint scanner and above it sits the LED flash.

Meizu has already released sample photos taken by the phone’s camera and they may as well be one of the best camera phones in the entry-level category.

The photos show the Meizu M6T will come in at least three colors – black, red and gray. While the first two have a metallic finish, the gray version appears to have a sandstone-like finish.

Meizu has a new entry-level smartphone called the Meizu M6T launching on May 29. Ahead of its launch, the device has appeared on Geekbench and in doing so revealed a few specs.

The Meizu M6T runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and has 2GB of RAM. It is powered by the SC9850, a chipset from Spreadtrum. The SoC is clocked at 1.3GHz and has 4-cores.

According to the info on Spreadtrum’s website, the SC9850 is a 28nm chipset. It has a Mali 820MP1 GPU and supports 1080p video playback, a single 13MP sensor, and an HD+ panel.

Using the above parameters, we have a rough idea of the other specs of the Meizu M6T. The main camera won’t be more than 13MP and the display will max out at 720p. We also expect it to come in 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM and 2GB RAM + 16GB ROM variants.

In terms of performance, the Meizu M6T scored 460 points in the single-core test and 1284 points in the multi-core test. This is a bit low when compared to the scores of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A which is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 and is also a 28nm chip.

So if the Meizu M6T can’t even surpass the Redmi Note 5A in terms of performance, it can’t be termed a Redmi S2 killer since the S2 uses a more powerful processor. However, it appears Meizu will be marketing only its camera prowess and I’m sure there is a market for such a phone.

Li Nan, the Senior VP of Meizu had shared a camera sample yesterday that was captured using an upcoming Meizu phone on his Weibo account. The watermark present on the image suggested that the mysterious handset could be Meizu M6T. Today, Meizu has revealed through official Weibo account of its Blue Charm sub-brand that the smartphone that is launching on May 29 is named as “6T.”

Blue Charm devices have always carried M branding. For instance, Blue Charm 6 had launched as Meizu M6 and the Blue Charm Note 6 was released as Meizu M6 Note. Hence, the new 6T phone may release in the market as Meizu M6T. The below teaser that confirms the moniker does not reveal any information on its specs and features. MyDrivers has reported that it has received invitation for the launch event of Meizu M6T which reveals that the event will be held at 2:30 PM at Beijing Sanlitun Mega Studio Theatre.

The impressive blurring effect that was seen in the portrait shot that was released yesterday by Li Nan suggests that the Meizu M6T will be a selfie-centric phone. Moreover, he has previously claimed that the cost of the phone will be similar to the price of a PC hard disk. This means that the Meizu M6T could be priced around 999 Yuan (~$156).

As far as the specs of the Meizu M6T are concerned, rumors are rife that it could be the very same MQ118 Meizu phone that was certified by China’s TENAA authority earlier in this month.  The MQ118 Meizu has an HD+ resolution display of 5.7 inches and it is fueled by 1.5 GHz octa-core processor.

Through the Weibo post that accompanies the image, Li Nan has claimed that the photo was shot using a new Blue Charm product that carries an affordable pricing. The right-corner of the image has the watermark that reads “Shot on 6T” which suggests that the new device could be Blue Charm 6T (Meizu 6T). The Meizu M6T could be an upcoming selfie-focused phone from the company that will arriving be rival with Redmi S2 and selfie phones from Oppo and Vivo.

In the recent past, a Meizu device with model number M811Q was approved by TENAA aka the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is now being speculated that the M811Q could very well end up as the Meizu 6T. The TENAA listing has already revealed the entire specs of the 6T smartphone.

TENAA has revealed that M811Q features a 5.7-inch display that supports HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It is driven by an octa-core processor that clocks at 1.5 GHz. The highest configuration model has 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM. Its other variants include 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 16 GB storage + 2 GB RAM. The M811Q is fueled by 3,230mAh battery. For photography, it houses a dual camera setup that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor and 2-megapixel secondary sensor. For snapping selfies, it is fitted with 8-megapixel frontal camera. These specs of the M811Q suggest that it will could be a very good rival for the Xiaomi Redmi S2.
