The device features a stylish design which is combined with exquisite craftsmanship to create a model having a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Here some hands-on photos of the device which we picked up from Weibo and it offers better views of the premium, cheap mid-ranger.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-9.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167723" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-9.jpg?x10805" alt="Meizu M6S" width="690" height="518" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-9.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-9-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-9-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The full-screen design made it impossible for the traditional mBack button to be mounted at the front. Instead of using a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor design, Meizu chose to experiment with a side sensor which many manufacturers have been shying away from. The fingerprint sensor is touted as being able to unlock the device in just 0.2 seconds. The device packs on-screen navigation keys and the round home button at the middle still functions as the mBack button.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-8.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167722" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-8.jpg?x10805" alt="Meizu M6S" width="690" height="517" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-8.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-8-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-8-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>At the rear, the device doesn&#8217;t look very spectacular, as it adopts a design similar to what Meizu has done in the past. The M6S features a metal body with the U-shaped antenna band acting as borders at the top and bottom edges. At a time dual cameras rule the airwave, Meizu chose to stick to a single rear camera which is located at the center. There is a round-shaped LED flash just under the rear camera. And remarkably, the hands on photos show the presence of the mBlu ogo just underneath the LED flash at the back. Meizu&#8217;s official renders of the device released during its launch have the Meizu logo printed on the back. So, its either something changed at the last minute or we&#8217;ll see the mBlu branding on the Chinese models while the international models would bear the Meizu branding.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-7.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167721" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-7.jpg?x10805" alt="Meizu M6S" width="690" height="517" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-7.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-7-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-7-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>As a reminder, the Meizu M6S features a 5.7-inch 18:9 in-cell display with 1440 x 720p HD+ resolution. The screen boasts of 450 nits brightness, wide viewing angles and 1000:1 contrast ratio. The M6S happens to be the first device to feature Samsung’s Exynos 7872 processor built on 14nm process with two Cortex A73 performance cores and four Cortex A53 efficient cores as well as full Netcom. The processor is backed by 3GB of RAM while the device will be available in 32GB and 64GB of storage options. It equally packs a 3000mAh with 18W fast charging that charges up to 52% in just 30 minutes. Providing the interface is the Flyme 6.2 OS with the company’s OneMind AI engine.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167717" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Meizu M6S" width="690" height="518" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-2.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-2-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>

The Chinese company has just published a post on the social network Weibo with a teaser image attached, confirming the official announcement. The upcoming device is going to be affordable, but it will still be innovative. In the teaser image, we can clearly see the shape of the phone and its edge-to-edge display.</p>
<p>In the new teaser, the company adds that the S6 will be more than just an 18:9 screen device. This is a hint that the phone is going to have another big selling point. The company didn&#8217;t elaborate on this, but we&#8217;ll hear more about it real soon. It could likely be the Exynos chipset inside, or it could be something else.We are not sure at this moment.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167553" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/m6.jpg?x10805" alt="meizu mblu s6" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/m6.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/m6-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/m6-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>The handset will be the first smartphone from the company with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The picture reminds a lot of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lg-g6">LG G6</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-5-plus/">Xiaomi Redmi 5/5 Plus</a>, and we hope that it will have the same great value for money. This is the only info about Meizu mBlu S6 surfaced with this teaser. According to the Chinese regulatory agency, TENAA, the device will have a 5.7-inch panel with an HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels.</p>
<p>On the hardware side, there will be an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7872 SoC (including the Mali-G71 GPU) paired with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The battery will have a capacity of 3000 mAh, which should be enough to guarantee a decent battery life with an HD+ display. Even though it will be cheap, Meizu mBlu S6 will have a full metal unibody design, and a fingerprint reader placed on the right side.</p>

The company has already released two teasers and the first could be of interest as it seems to point at the presence of an on-screen fingerprint sensor. Recall that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/11/meizu-mblu-s6-video-leaks-showcasing-screen-buttons-possibly-new-unlock-pattern/">a leaked video of the Meizu M6S in action</a> had suggested that there may be a new unlock method which seems to be on the screen. This is despite the sighting of a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the device.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-1.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-166925" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-1.png?x10805" alt="Meizu mBlu S6" width="720" height="539" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-1.png 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-1-300x225.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/meizu-m6s-1-160x120.png 160w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p>It is very much unlikely that the Meizu M6S would feature two types of fingerprint sensors, one on the screen and another at the side. There could be another explanation for the teaser. The teaser noted a change in the fingerprint sensor due to the device having a full-screen design. Since the smartphone is a full-screen one, the trademark Meizu mBack home button which doubles as a fingerprint sensor is absent. The picture shows a fingerprint icon on the screen of the device and that is what sends the impression that there could be an on-screen fingerprint sensor. However, the way the hand grips the smartphone may also be indicative of the side-mounted fingerprint sensor while the fingerprint icon on the screen may just be there to give a clue that the teaser is referring to the fingerprint sensor. We already know <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/10/details-vivos-display-fingerprint-sensor-works-pretty-well/">Vivo is the first to use the in-display fingerprint technology</a> from Synaptics on its smartphone but there hasn&#8217;t been any word on Meizu using a similar technology.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-159428" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side.png?x10805" alt="Meizu M6S front and side" width="552" height="419" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side.png 552w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side-300x228.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side-160x120.png 160w" sizes="(max-width: 552px) 100vw, 552px" /></a></p>

<p>As a reminder, Meizu M6S or mBlu S6 is expected to feature an expansive 5.7-inch 18:9 display with an HD= resolution of 1440 x 720p. The back features the U-shaped antenna band design while at the rear is the mBlu logo, which confirms that the S6 will be the first mBlu branded smartphone to be released by the company. The volume rocker buttons are located on the left side of the device while at the right side, you’ll find a power button and side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The M6S will be fired up by an Hexa-core Exynos 7872 (4 x A53 + 2 x A73) chip which is also one of the teasers released by Meizu on its Blue Charm account. The graphic is powered by a Mali-G71 GPU while the processor is paired with a 3GB RAM and there is 32GB of storage. In addition, there is a 3000mAh battery with 9V / 2A 18W fast charging support. The Meizu mBlu S6 or M6s is expected to feature a full-screen design with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The renders of the m6s are already in the public domain via leaks and recently, its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/05/meizu-mblu-s6-m6s-passes-tenaa-features-189-display-side-mounted-fingerprint/">TENAA certification</a>. So, we already know the design we expect to see on the M6S and that design will be one without the trademark mBack button which is traditionally on all Meizu smartphone.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-159428" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side.png?x10805" alt="Meizu M6S front and side" width="552" height="419" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side.png 552w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side-300x228.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Meizu-M6S-front-and-side-160x120.png 160w" sizes="(max-width: 552px) 100vw, 552px" /></a></p>
<p>The mBack button functions as a navigational button as well as the fingerprint unlock button and also wakes up the device. So, in the absence of a front home button and a rear-mounted sensor on the device, the device has been shown to pack a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. A video of a working Meizu M6s has leaked online showing its navigation button and perhaps, a new unlock pattern! The video is a short clip, with the full-screen smartphone being operated by a user. The device uses onscreen navigation button which we believe can be docked and undocked at will. The user seems to just tap the onscreen home button and then tap the area around the bottom bezel and the device was woken up. We can&#8217;t say if this also unlocks the device when it is set to fingerprint unlock.</p>

With nearly two weeks before its arrival, the phone has made an appearance on AnTuTu.</p>
<p>Benchmarked as the Meizu mblu S6, the phone does have an 18:9 aspect ratio judging from its 1440 x 720 resolution. It also has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and runs Android 7.0 Nougat.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-165108" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-AnTuTu.jpg?x10805" alt="Meizu mblu S6" width="600" height="950" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-AnTuTu.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Meizu-M6s-AnTuTu-189x300.jpg 189w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>AnTuTu also reveals that the mblu S6 (Meizu M6s) is powered by a 6-core chip with a Mali-G71 GPU. According to rumors floating round, this is the 14nm Exynos 7872. The chipset has still not been officially unveiled.</p>
<p>Earlier leaks already revealed that the Meizu phone will have a 5.7&#8221; display. Now that we know the resolution is HD+, its 2930mAh battery sure doesn&#8217;t feel small.</p>

<p>The M6s will be Meizu&#8217;s first full-screen phone, launching ahead of the Meizu 15 Plus flagship. It will be the first to ditch the mBack button since its introduction, and also the first Meizu device with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.</p>
