Meizu had launched the Meizu MX6 phone in July last year. Early rumors had suggested that the company could be working on Meizu MX7 to replace the older MX6 phone. The Chinese manufacturer has now removed the listing of Meizu MX6 from the official website as well as its official store. Since the Chinese firm is working on the Meizu 15 Plus as the 15^th anniversary phone, it is speculated that the next major phone from the company will not be a Meizu’s MX series phone.

Currently, the Meizu MX6 is only available for purchase on Jingdong. The retailer is selling the Champagne Gold version of the phone with a price tag of 1,299 Yuan. It has been over a year since the launch of the MX6 and there is no trace of an upcoming Meizu MX series phone. Hence, the rumor mill is speculating that the company may have axed the MX lineup completely. We advise our readers to take this report with a grain of salt as the company is yet to official announce the axing of the MX series.

The Meizu 15 Plus is speculated to come with a full screen design. It is also rumored to retain the mBack button. Its rear panel is expected to feature dual camera setup that is coupled with a ring flash. The handset is expected to arrive in two models. The Snapdragon 660 chipset may power the Meizu 15 whereas the Meizu 15 Plus may feature Snapdragon 835 chipset. These phones are speculated to debut in March 2018.

With almost all smartphone manufacturers are now coming up with a bezel-less smartphone, Meizu too is joining the list. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer’s new smartphone with full-screen display has been leaked online.

The leak shows Meizu’s unknown smartphone featuring a bezel-less display. While the display covers almost the entire front panel, there is some space at the bottom, enough for a home button. It appears that the company has also incorporated a fingerprint sensor in the home button.

Although the phone’s model number or name is not known, this could be the same smartphone that the company plans to launch next year. Recently, Meizu’s Head of Global Marketing had revealed that the company is working on a bezel-less smartphone that will be launched next year.

The leaked image also suggests that the smartphone will be running on the company’s own Flyme OS. However, there is no information if it will be based on Android 8.0 Oreo or Android Nougat. It is being speculated that the phone will be made out of metal.

While it’s confirmed that Meizu will launch bezel-less phone next year, we couldn’t confirm that this leaked image is legit or not. For that, we’ll have to wait for a few more weeks.

The company’s Senior Vice President had earlier confirmed that the company will launch Meizu MX7 next year. It is expected to be launched by the end of Q1 of 2018 or the beginning of Q2 next year.

Looking at the last few launches from Meizu, it seems that the company has not been focusing on offering high-end specs for its smartphone. However, this could change with the MX7 — the smartphone that is expected to feature a bezel-less display.

A recent official-looking poster had tipped that the Meizu MX7 will be released on October 11. That isn’t likely going to happen. As a matter of fact, we may not be seeing the flagship MX7 this year, if words of Meizu’s Senior VP Jeffery Yang are anything to go by. The Meizu VP took to Weibo to respond to questions concerning the MX7’s launch and he categorically stated that the much-anticipated flagship model will be released in 2018 instead of this year.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, though, because the Chinese tech giant has released the flagship Pro 7 this year and the product is still performing well in the market. The Meizu exec did specify that the MX7 will debut in Spring 2018 which should be anytime between March and June. That means we may not see a Pro 8 next year or we could get two flagship models from Meizu next year.

The Meizu MX7 is a flagship model, the MX series was Meizu’s only flagship series until the birth of the Pro-series. The MX7 will take the reins from the MX6 launched around July 2016 packing an Helio X20 chip and a powerful 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera sensor. The MX7 was expected to launch in September this year packing an Helio P30 chip, according to the leaked Meizu product schedule for this year that has so far been fairly accurate but September is already gone. Jeffery Wang is Senior VP in charge of the flagship Meizu division so he is in the best position to say when the device will be launched. However, considering the MX7 was listed on Chinese e-retail website Taobao recently, Meizu could spring up a surprise and still launch the device this year.

In this case, September is almost gone leaving the possibility of the MX7 launching in October. However, it must be noted that the teaser posters were not released officially by Meizu and cannot be found on any of Meizu’s official Weibo handles. This leaves room for speculation that they are likely fake. Moreso, we can’t vouch for the pedigree of the leaker. The teaser posters are also suggestive of the MX7 packing an in-display fingerprint sensor which Qualcomm says will only find its way into smartphones next year. There are more to come including a Snapdragon-powered model perhaps, but one phone that may likely not be launched this year is the Meizu MX7. There is a rumour out of China that Meizu will not be launching the flagship MX7 this year.

The Meizu MX7 is supposed to be the successor to the MX6 which was launched around July last year packing an Helio X20 chip and a powerful 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera sensor. The MX7 was expected to launch in September this year packing an Helio P30 chip, according to the leaked Meizu product schedule for this year that has so far been fairly accurate. The MX series was hitherto Meizu’s flagship series before the birth of the Pro series but the company has continued to released MX models which usually come with a pocket-friendly price tag. The MX6 sells for around $276 presently which is fairly decent. But we may have to make do with the M6 Note this year as Meizu is rumoured as planning to use the M series, U series or the X series to fill the void the lack of a decent MX model would create.

The reason for the shift of the MX7 from this year’s itinerary wasn’t disclosed by the tipster who has a fair credibility rating from his antecedence. The shift could be as a result of the need to provide enough space for the Pro 7 and the mid-range offerings the company has got lined up for this year to sell well instead of its products competing with each other. The Meizu MX7 is expected with a premium, near bezel-less edge design and would feature a 21MP rear camera and a 5MP sensor up front. The device is also expected to sport a large 5.7-inch display with a 2K resolution and it will have a USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack.We can’t be so sure about this, though, so take it with a pinch of salt.

When Meizu’s product roadmap leaked a few months ago, the MX7 was one of the products we saw on the list. We were able to deduce from the leaked info that the Meizu MX7 will launch in September and will be powered by a Helio P30 SoC.

September is still a good five months from now but an alleged live image of the Meizu MX7 just showed up online. Because it is still too early, we advice you to take this with a pinch of salt, although it is possible Meizu might have adjusted its calendar. But even at that, MediaTek still has not announced the Helio P30 processor yet. Heck! We are still even waiting for phones to show up with the Helio P25.

However, there is an explanation for the SoC. According to the source, the Meizu MX7 will launch with the Helio X30 or Snapdragon 660 SoC. These two processors are not yet present in any phone, but at least they have been officially announced.

The Meizu MX7 is expected to feature a 21MP rear camera and a 5MP sensor for selfies. The display will be 5.7-inches with a 2K resolution and it will have a USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack.

The design isn’t different from other Meizu phones but the side bezels are pretty thin. It has the signature mBack button at the bottom but also appears to be lacking a light sensor at the top.

For a while now, Meizu has been stuck with using MediaTek chip on its smartphones and of late, the Meizu Pro 6 Plus featured a Samsung Exynos 8890 flagship SoC. Unfortunately to the disappointment of not a few persons, Meizu has failed to pack Qualcomm’s chip on its latest gadgets.

A recent Qualcomm press release had stated among other things that China’s top ten phone brands have all got Qualcomm’s patent license. If you talk about the top ten brands in China, Meizu is definite among them.

More revealing is the recent leaked product schedule said to be Meizu’s lineup for 2017. The product schedule outlines the different Meizu smartphones that are likely to be released in 2017 and the month they would drop. According to the poster, Meizu should release the M5S in February using a MT6753, the Meizu Pro 7 uses a Helio X30 chip launching in June. In addition, the Meizu S using an Helio P25 chip is expected in July, while the MX7 with an Helio P30 chip will drop in September. October would see the Meizu Note 6 powered by an Helio P20 SoC.

One notable information outlined on the leaked calendar is the processor the devices would carry on launch date. That would not have gotten us excited if not for the Qualcomm chipset which is listed against a device whose name is obscured on the sheet, perhaps a Meizu M derivative. However, we could see what looks like a Snapdragon 626 chipset listed as featuring on the device.

Well, don’t get too excited because even if the product schedule turns out to be true, you won’t be seeing the Snapdragon-powered Meizu flagship anytime soon. The device is listed for release in December 2017, one year from now.
