It has been more than 7 months since the release of the Meizu Note 9 in China. A successor is most likely already in development if Meizu is sticking to the same schedule. However, it appears the mid-range phone may soon launch in India.

It has been reported that a device believed to be the Meizu Note 9 has been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). First reported by True-Tech, the device is shown to have a model number (M923H) that is similar to that of the Meizu Note 9 (M923Q). The different last alphabet is what distinguishes both phones and it hints at them being just market variants.

The Meizu Note 9 was originally scheduled to launch during Diwali but that didn’t happen due to problems with getting the certification. Now that it has been certified, Meizu may announce it soon to mark its return into the Indian market.

The phone may not be the only new product launching soon in India. It has been reported that the Meizu POP 2 true wireless earbuds have also been certified.

The Meizu Note 9 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ display with a pretty small waterdrop notch. It is powered by the Snapdragon 675 processor and is available in 6GB+128GB, 6GB+64GB, and 4GB+64GB variants. There is no support for storage expansion, so you are stuck with whatever configuration you purchase. There is a 48MP primary camera on the back of the phone along with a 5MP depth sensor. The notch on the screen is home to a 20MP sensor.

The phone also packs a 4000mAh battery with support for18W mCharge. It also has a USB Type-C port, an audio jack and Bluetooth 5.0.

The release date for the phone is still unknown but that may change soon.

Meizu has announced on its Weibo page, the launch of a new variant for the Meizu Note 9 and it is a Starlight Blue colour variant. The Meizu Note 9 was first launched in March this year and even though the device was listed to come with a Blue variant, it wasn’t made available until now. The model retains the pricing of other variants and starts at 1398 yuan ($202) for the 4GB+64GB storage variant. The 4GB+128GB version and 6GB+64GB version are both on sale for 1598 yuan ($231).

The Meizu Note 9 features a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display with a waterdrop-style notch. It adopts the 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a screen ratio of 89.23%. The display has a full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels. The device comes with 4GB/6GB of RAM with 64 GB/128 GB storage options which can’t be expanded.

Design

Just choose depending on your tastes, because each of these phones offers a futuristic design with a waterdrop notch and a wonderful back available in gradient color variants. I would personally discard the Oppo F11 due to its bigger dimensions making it less usable with one hand and harder to keep in a pocket. Instead, I would award the Redmi Note 7 Pro for its water resistance. Despite its specs sheet does not mention any IP certification, teardowns revealed that it is indeed water resistant and the company confirmed it.

Display

We discarded the Oppo F11 from the design comparison because of its dimensions, but that goes in favor of the display. This device has a huge 6.53-inch panel that is much more comfortable for advanced users, gamers and productivity. Further, it comes with the LTPS technology that should help to deliver a better experience. Oppo F11 wins the display comparison, but given that we are talking about mid-rangers and usually there are very marginal differences between the displays of midrange phones, do not give too much importance to this.

Specs & Software

You get exactly the same hardware department for the Meizu Note 9 and Redmi Note 7 Proo: a Snapdragon 675 chipset paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage. Instead, Oppo F11 comes with a slightly less impressive Mediatek Helio P70. So, just like displays, it will even hard to notice the differences between the speed and reactivity of these phones, in every scenario. In each case, you get high-end performances as these devices are equipped with an upper-midrange SoC that is able to handle every task in a very good way. I would personally go for the Redmi Note 7 Pro because it is the only one to boast a micro SD slot allowing to expand the internal storage. Most of the people like its customized user interface more, even though this does not count so much.

Camera

The new Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor with its resolution of 48 MP became mainstream among midrange devices and it allows a stunning level of detail even on phones that are a lot far from top camera phones, for both performances and prices. We still did not test all the cameras of these handsets, but we do not expect significative differences in photo quality, regarding the rear camera setup. What will probably change more is the selfie experience, in which Oppo F11 and Meizu Note 9 should offer something more. Oppo F11 may be the real selfie master here.

Battery

The huge batteries of these devices are probably what will distinguish these devices from most of their concurrence. All feature a huge 4000 mAh unit and all support a fast charging technology. Judging from the specs on the paper, Meizu Note 9 and Redmi Note 7 Pro may last slightly more than Oppo F11 due to their smaller and more efficient displays. But the software optimizations will have the last word here.

Price

With incredibly similar specs sheets, what makes the difference is the price, and this is a point for the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Meizu Note 9. They start from about €200/$225, while Oppo F11 starts from €250/$280. Overall, I would go for the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

The handset is driven by the powerful Snapdragon 675 and it comes with some exciting features such as 48-megapixel dual camera and fast charging enabled big battery. Also, it carries an attractive starting price of 1,398 Yuan ($208).

Meizu Note 9 Specifications and Features

The Meizu Note 9 features a metal and glass combination chassis  with 153.11 x 74.34 x 8.65 mm dimensions. It is equipped with a waterdrop-style notched IPS LCD display of 6.2-inches. It supports 19.5:9 aspect ratio and full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels. The Note 9 offers a screen-to-body ratio of 89.23 percent.The Snapdragon 675 mobile platform that powers the likes of Vivo V15 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro can be found under the hood of the Meizu Note 9 with up to 6 GB of RAM. It can be availed in 64 GB and 128 GB storage choices. For optimized gaming experience through GPU acceleration, the Meizu Note 9 comes with the company’s Hyper Gaming technology.

Tmall, the popular Chinese online retail store has published a list of products that will be available on its site in March. The list is split into multiple categories including mobile phones which has some phones that haven’t launched yet.

First on the list is Vivo’s iQOO flagship smartphone which will launch on March 1. The Snapdragon 855-powered device was seen on TENAA yesterday and its specs include an AMOLED display, triple rear cameras, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. According to Tmall, it will be available in early March.

Next comes Samsung’s new S10 series which launched last week. It is already available for pre-order but you will be able to grab a unit on March 8 according to the online store.

The unreleased Meizu Note 9 is also on the list. Scheduled for a March 6 release, the phone will be available for purchase in mid-March.

While we are already aware of the existence of the other devices, this is the first time we are seeing proof of the Nova 4e’s existence. The Huawei phone will most likely be the name the Huawei P30 Lite will go by in China. It will have a waterdrop display and triple rear cameras and will be available on Tmall in late March.

The last mobile phone listed on the sheet is the Vivo X27. This is the successor to the X23 which launched last September. We don’t know anything yet about the phone but we believe it will come with an improved under-display fingerprint sensor, a more powerful processor, and better cameras. It will be available in late March, so its launch should be a few days before then.

There are some devices not on the list like the Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro. Although they are scheduled to launch in March. It appears they won’t be available for purchase until April at the earliest.

Meizu will announce its new mid-range phone, the Meizu Note 9 on March 6. The phone is expected to be the manufacturer’s answer to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. Ahead of the launch next week, a picture taken with the phone has surfaced.

The Meizu Note 9 will come with dual rear cameras – a 48MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. There is no confirmation yet but it has been reported that the phone uses the same Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor as the Redmi Note 7.

The picture above is of the La Sagrada Familia, an uncompleted Roman Catholic church in Barcelona and was shared by Meizu’s VP, Li Nan. It isn’t a super wide-angle image but the Meizu Note 9 does a great job at capturing most of the building.

On a side note, since the picture was taken in Barcelona, we know the Meizu Note 9 is at MWC. Maybe someone will provide live photos of the device before the event is over.

The Meizu Note 9 will also come with a 20MP front-facing camera that is housed within the notch of its 6.2-inch FHD+ display.

Meizu has released another teaser poster for its launch event which is scheduled for Thursday, 14th of February. Sadly, the new poster confirms it isn’t the much-awaited Meizu Note 9 launching.

Just like yesterday’s teaser poster, this also shows the silhouette of a phone but this time, of the rear. The phone has dual cameras positioned in the middle and arranged vertically while the LED flash sits below it.

Images of the Meizu Note 9 revealed by TENAA show that this isn’t the device pictured above. Its dual rear cameras are on the far left and it has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. This leaves the above device as either one of the Meizu 16 series or the Meizu Zero. And since the latter just launched a few weeks ago, it possibly can’t be it getting another launch.

The Chinese New Year holidays are over and things are expected to pick up pretty fast in the Chinese mobile phone industry. Earlier today, Meizu released a poster to announce that it has an event scheduled for February 14.

The poster which counts down to the event has a silhouette of what appears to be a phone with sound waves emanating from it. There is also some Chinese text which we believe are lyrics from a song written on the poster.

Prior to today’s poster, Meizu shared an image on its Weibo account yesterday that shows the Meizu 16th mobile phone against a background of words related to music awards. Meizu is expected to announce the Meizu Note 9 smartphone in this month. The specs of the phone had already surfaced on TENAA earlier this month. However, the listing did not include its images. The TENAA listing of the Meizu Note 9 on TENAA has now been updated with its front and rear images. The images reveal that the smartphone features a waterdrop notch enabled display.

The Meizu Note 9 that has a model number of M923Q will be the company’s first smartphone to sport a waterdrop-style notch on the display. The new design will allow the upcoming mid-range Meizu phone to deliver a high screen-to-body ratio.

Moving to the backside of the Meizu Note 9, it is equipped with a vertical dual camera setup at its top-left corner along with an LED flash. A fingerprint scanner is also positioned on the backside of the phone which puts an end to rumors that had claimed that it would be featuring a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Meizu Note 9 Specifications

The Meizu Note 9 is fitted with a 6.2-inch display that produce full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels. The Snapdragon 675 chipset will be powering the smartphone. It is the same SoC that is expected to power other upcoming phones such as Vivo V15 Pro and Redmi Note 7 Pro. The SoC of the smartphone will be supported by 6 GB of RAM. The device will include an internal storage of 64 GB and it come will preloaded with Android 9.0 Pie OS. The handset will be also equipped with a microSD card slot for additional storage.

The Note 9 will be equipped with 48-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera system on its rear. The primary sensor of the phone could be the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor which is available on the Redmi Note 7 smartphone.  On the front is a 20-megpapixel selfie camera. The device measures 169.7 grams and is 8.65mm in thickness. It is expected to arrive in China in color options such as Dark Ochre, Silver Ochre and Starry Blue. The exact price of the smartphone is not known yet. Since it is expected to rival with Redmi Note 7 in China, it may have a starting price of 999 Yuan. The Meizu Note 9 that has a model number of M923Q was spotted few hours ago with limited specs on TENAA. Now the TENAA listing of the phone has been updated with full specifications.

The Meizu Note 9 TENA listing reveals that its dimensions are 153.11 x 74.34 x 8.65mm and it weighs 169.7 grams. The smartphone will be arriving in three colors variants in China such as Black Ochre, White Ochre and Starry Blue.

The smartphone is fitted with a 6.2-inch display that produces 2244 x 1080 pixels. Rumors have it that it will be sporting a notched display. Leaked images showing the Note 9 with a small waterdrop-style notched screens were spotted recently. The images of the phone haven’t surfaced on TENAA yet. The listing of the Meizu M923Q on TENAA is likely to be updated with images soon to reveal its front and rear design.

A 2.0 GHz octa-core processor which is nothing but the Snapdragon 675 chipset powers the Meizu Note 9. The SoC is coupled with 6 GB of RAM. The Android 9 Pie OS comes preinstalled on the device. For storage, it features 64 GB of internal storage. It is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery.

A Meizu phone with model number M932Q has been spotted on TENAA’s website and this device is believed to be the Meizu Note 9. This isn’t the full listing but it still contains some key specs.

The Meizu Note 9 measures 153.11 x 74.3 x 8.65 mm. It is slightly shorter and less broad than the Meizu Note 8 which measures 153.6 x 75.5 x 7.9 mm. However, it is thicker and that can be attributed to its larger battery capacity. The listing says it is 3,900mAh (technically 4,000mAh), 400mAh more than that of the Meizu Note 8.

The Meizu Note 9 will also come with a larger 6.2-inch display. The resolution isn’t stated but it is most likely FHD+. Its predecessor doesn’t have a notch but the Note 9 has been reported to have a waterdrop notch.

Meizu is reportedly working on its upcoming flagship smartphone — Meizu Note 9. Now, the latest information related to the smartphone coming from Meizu Community Forum confirms that the device will be powered by a new “Snapdragon 6150” chipset from Qualcomm.

Further, it also reveals that the smartphone will come equipped with a 48-megapixel primary rear camera sensor. This is the same camera sensor that’s present in Honor V20 (aka Honor View 20) as well as Redmi’s upcoming smartphone scheduled to launch on 10th January.

The Snapdragon 6150 is not a commercial name of the chipset but it is being speculated that the processor could be Snapdragon 680 or 685 — the successor of SD670 or SD675. Reports indicate that the Snapdragon 6150 will be made using the 11nm process and could be manufactured by Samsung.

Going by the Snapdragon 600-series chipsets, it will be an octa-core processor with Adreno 600-series GPU and support for Full HD+ screen resolution. It is speculated to have support for Bluetooth 5, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, USB 3.1 and NFC, among others.

A couple of months ago, we reported that Qualcomm is working on SM6150 and SM7150 mid-range processors. Both are octa-core processors but with likely different GPU, CPU cores and or clock speeds.

As the name itself suggests, the Meizu Note 9 will be a successor to the Meizu Note 8 that was launched a couple of months ago in China, starting at 999 Yuan ($145). It’s a premium budget smartphone featuring a 6.15-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
