After Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX, we have heard fact and rumors alike, that a number of manufacturers are planning to release their own bezel-less device. One of such manufacturers is Meizu. Initially we heard news of a Meizu device called the Meizu PRO 6 Edge with a four-curved display. We even got images of the alleged phone from the source who also said the phone will hit the shelves soon. Only for Meizu chairman, Jack Wong/Huáng Zhāng to release a statement that the company is not in a rush to release a curved-screen phone as it’s flat-surface phones are doing well.

However, today we have a leaked image of a bezel-less device said to be from Meizu and it sure looks good. The phone is completely bezel-less save for the lower part that houses Meizu’s trademark mBack button albeit in a thinner form making the lower bezel much smaller than Xiaomi’s.

The screen-to-body ratio of the Meizu bezel-Less phone is assumed to be more than 91.3% and the display is expected to feature a 2.5D or 3D arc glass on top. Apart from the difference in the lower bezel, the front looks the same, even the front camera is placed in the same lower right corner as that of the Mi MIX.

Will we get to see this device in the near future? We have no idea, but a bezel-less display from Meizu will be a good alternative if people can get their hands on it unlike the Mi MIX which is currently only available at its original price via flash sales but sells for way more if you are buying from a reseller.

Just don’t expect Meizu’s phone to sport a Snapdragon 821 processor, maybe the Helio X27 if it’s coming out soon or the Helio X30 if it is pushed to next year.

The internet was abuzz the past few days with renders of a purported Meizu Pro 6 Edge device that quite frankly looked stunning. The device was said to have a curved display with 2K resolution as well as an Exynos 8890 chip onboard. The Pro 6 Edge was also rumored to likely launch along with the M5 Note today.

However, Meizu’s VP Huang Zhang has debunked news of any other device apart from the M5 Note dropping today. The Meizu VP via a Weibo post averred that talks of a curved screen device dropping today doesn’t have substance. The VP however promised that a topnotch device is what they will be unveiling.

The Meizu M5 Note doesn’t feature a curved display, except we’ll see that on the M5 Note Metal version rumored as also launching. We hope Meizu releases another stunning device just like the Pro 6 Plus today.

Meizu launched what is arguably its first true flagship device for this year, talking about the Pro 6 Plus, not too long ago. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus features a sleek, premium design and a specs that guarantees topnotch performance. However, it seems Meizu has got something bigger than the Pro 6 Plus in the works. Recently, white renders of an unknown Meizu device appeared on Weibo sporting a curved display. That unknown device has now been identified as the Meizu Pro 6 Edge and more renders of the black variant of the said device have leaked.

The Meizu Pro 6 Edge uses a curved design on all sides with well-chamfered edges for easy grip. The screen has a special curve on all four axis manufactured using a hot-bend process. It curves both at the front and back. The Pro 6 Edge is rumored as packing the same Samsung Exynos 8890 processor featured on the Pro 6 Plus. The device is also rumored with a Samsung AMOLED display with a whopping 2K resolution.

Meizu is tipped to likely unveil the Pro 6 Edge along side the Meizu M5 Note on December 6. That’s just a rumor and considering the press conference is just a day away, we’ll not anticipate anything of such. But even if it doesn’t drop with the M5 Note, it will likely be launched sometime soon.

In the past few weeks, there have been a couple of instances where we have seen details about a new Meizu smartphone featuring a curved screen display. First, it was a set of not-so-clear pictures of the device and later, possible specs of the device which included the powerful Exynos 8890. However, the second leak was a bit too good to be believed, given that the source didn’t reveal any concrete proof for the same. Now, the insider who leaked this information has revealed a new screenshot image which shows Meizu’s CEO Huang Zhang confirming the existence of a curved screen Meizu smartphone.

So, what can we confirm from this screenshot revealed today?

First up, Meizu’s curved screen smartphone is real and in development. Second, the company won’t be calling it the Meizu Pro 6 Edge. Maybe Pro 7 or some other name that we don’t know yet, but definitely not ‘Edge’, at least according to the CEO. Finally, the third important piece of information that we can take away from this picture is that the company will most likely launch the new Flyme 6 OS with this smartphone. In the picture, CEO said that the Flyme 6 was being developed for this device. Hence, it is likely that the new version debuts with an important device like this later this year.

In case you are wondering about the launch date, we don’t have any concrete details about the same. The CEO didn’t mention a timeframe for the release of the new curved handset, but it shouldn’t be anytime soon, considering we saw three new smartphone launches as recent as last month. So, it is safe to assume that the launch could be sometime in the second half of 2016. Last year, Meizu released the Flyme 5 OS in September. If it is to continue the tradition, we can expect to see, both this curved screen phone and Fyme 6 around this time in 2016.

Pricing of the phone is said to be above 3000 Yuan which comes to around $460, which isn’t too bad for a curved screen smartphone. Since the phone is indeed in development, expect a lot more details in the coming days.
