Earlier, we reported that Meizu is gearing up to launch Meizu Pro 7 phone in the Indian market. Now it seems that the company is finally ready to bring it to the Indian shores.

According to the report, Meizu Pro 7 will be launched in India later this month. However, there is no exact timeline available for the launch. The report further suggests that the device will be priced under Rs. 30,000 (approximately $473) in India.

In November last year, the company teased the launch of a “Pro” smartphone, without revealing the phone’s name. The image posted by the company on the social media website stated, “it’s time for you to become a Pro! Stay Tuned! #BeAPro.”

The Meizu Pro 7 was originally launched in China in June last year, along with Meizu Pro 7 Plus. However, the Pro 7 Plus will not be launched this year, according to the report. The Pro 7 features a unique secondary AMOLED display at the back which shows time, notifications, weather, and also serves as a selfie screen for taking portraits from the rear camera.

The device features a 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED primary display with 1920 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. There is also a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED secondary display with screen resolution of 240 × 536 pixels and 307ppi pixel density.

Under the hood, the Meizu Pro 7 is powered by 2.5GHz MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor along with Mali-T880 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage. The other variant of the phone comes powered by 2.6GHz MediaTek Helio X30 deca-core 10nm processor with PowerVR 7XTP-MP4 GPU, 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

There is a dual camera setup at the back, featuring two 12-megapixel sensors with one being a monochrome lens and other being RGB lens, along with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, and LED flash support. On the front, there’s a 16-megapixel camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the phone’s home button and the device comes with USB Type-C port. The device is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery that comes with a support for mCharge fast charging.

Meizu India has posted an image on Twitter teasing the launch of a “Pro” smartphone soon. While the smartphone in question has not been revealed, we believe that the company is planning to launch the Meizu Pro 7 in India.

The Meizu Pro 7 was originally launched in China in June earlier this year, along with Meizu Pro 7 Plus. It comes with an unique secondary AMOLED display at the back. It shows time, notifications, weather, and also serves as a selfie screen for taking portraits from the rear camera.

While the Meizu Pro 7 is the company’s flagship smartphone, the specifications of the device are not on par with other flagship smartphones. Thus, we expect the phone to be priced around Rs. 25,000 in India.

Today has been an exciting one so far. Xiaomi unveiled its new phone, the Mi 5X; the latest version of its custom OS, MIUI 9; and its smart speaker, the Mi AI Speaker. A few hours later, it is Meizu’s turn and they have launched their latest flagship phones, the Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus.

The biggest feature of the new phones are the secondary displays. Measuring 1.9-inches on both phones and positioned on the rear, it’s a whole new take on dual display technology.

Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus Design

Meizu has partnered with American design company, Frog Design, and they are calling the result of their partnership an Omni-Dimensional Design. Unlike other manufacturers that have adopted glass as their material of choice, Meizu has settled for metal with a brush finish at the back.

Meizu has never been one to shy away from bright colors and the Pro 7 is an example. It comes in bright red alongside the usual black and gold.

Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus Cameras

This is Meizu’s first dual camera phone and just like Motorola did with the Moto Z2 Force announced yesterday, the Pro 7 (and 7 Plus) have adopted the monochrome + RGB configuration. The sensors are 12MP Sony IMX386 with an f/2.0 aperture size. The result of this configuration is better night shots.

Up front sits a 16MP sensor for selfies though you can also use the rear cameras for selfies since there is a display at the back. Just swipe down and you enter the camera mode.

Meizu Pro 7 and Pro7 Plus Specs

The Pro 7 has a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display while the Pro 7 Plus is 5.7-inches. The secondary display is Super AMOLED too. Powering the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus is Mediatek’s Helio X2 and Helio X30 processors.

There are two models of the Pro 7: one has 4GB of RAM and 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage and is powered by the Helio P25, while the other has 4GB RAM, 128GB of storage and a Helio X30 SoC.

The Pro 7 Plus gets 6GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage and both versions are powered by the Helio X30.

Meizu says the Pro 7 is good for gaming and you do not have to worry about overheating. Tests show that the temperature stays at 34.6°C when playing Asphalt 8 and 40.4°C while playing NBA 2K17.

The differences don’t end there. The smaller Pro 7 has a 3000mAh battery with mCharge 3.0 and the Pro7 Plus gets a 3500mAh battery with mCharge 4.0. mCharge 4.0 charges your phone at 5V 5A (25W), taking it from 0 to 67% in just 30 minutes. It seems we might have a new fast charging champion.

There is a dedicated audio chip in each phone to make sure that your audio is crystal clear. Both phones run Flyme 6 based on Android 7.0 out of the box.

Meizu Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus Pricing and Availability

The Pro 7 will be available in black, red, and gold and will cost ¥2880 (∼$426) for the base variant and ¥3380 (∼$500) for the 128GB/Helio  X30 version.

The Pro 7 Plus ditches the red for grey and silver in addition to gold and black. The base variant will sell for ¥3580 (∼$530) and the  128GB model will cost ¥4080 (∼$604). Sales kicks off an August 5 at 10:oo AM.

Meizu is expected to officially unveil the Pro 7 on the evening of July 26 which is barely two days away so, it is just right that they keep the internet buzzing with fresh photos of the flagship. That is, perhaps, the intention of Jeffery Yang who shared a clean photo of the Pro 7 on Weibo today.

The photo is that of the Grey coloured variant which was first leaked last week but this time around it shows the back of the device but omitted the part containing the rear cameras. The major thing that we can grab from the photo is the presence of a brush metal body and a grey coloured variant. Also, the rear secondary display seems to be curved at the outer edge just like the rest of the body. The U-shaped antenna band design also looks like what is hidden at the bottom edge and we believe the upper edge will also look similar. It has a similar grey colour with the body, something that may be peculiar to this colour variant.

Apart from the grey variant, the Meizu Pro 7 is expected to come in Black, Gold and Red colour variants. As for the specs, the Pro 7 has been confirmed by MeidaTek to be the first smartphone to launch with MediaTek’s Deca-core Helio X30 chip. It is expeccted to feature a 5.2-inch 1080p display as well as dual 12MP Sony IMX386+ 12MP Sony IMX286 sensors at the rear with a ring flash having 10 LEDs. The camera will likely be one of the main selling points of the device based on the sample shots we have seen. But we can only make a decent judgement of the device after it has been launched and subjected to Linus’ critical review here on Gizmochina. Other specs are still not certain, that also we’ll know when it is launched.

The Meizu Pro 7 is becoming more and more interesting by the day, not just because of the powerful dual cameras which it is touted to feature, or the attractive and innovative secondary display but also because it will afford us the opportunity to get a first-hand experience of MediaTek’s Helio X30 chip which it is billed to launch with. MediaTek recently confirmed the Pro 7 will be the first smartphone to pack its deca-core flagship chip and also that the Helio X30 is manufactured specifically for extreme gamers.

Talking about the secondary display, the Pro 7’s display isn’t new to us but all along it is thought to be an e-ink display that would only show notifications and maybe time and date. But recently, leaked photos of the Pro 7 shows that it would like have more features than we were thinking. Once again, it looks like the rear display isn’t likely going to be an e-ink display as a new leaked photo of the Meizu Pro 7 rear screen has appeared online from China’s Weibo. The leaked Pro 7’s rear display again shows the screen can display colors which means it would likely be an LCD panel.

In addition, the display could be seen to be running a game which looks like the legendary Pac-Man. This points at the strong possibility of the rear display coming with touch input support since the game can only be controlled using the screen. This also lend credence to earlier leak pointing at the presence of Meizu’s Flyme interface on the device. Another thing is that the Pro 7 will likely be available in black and gold, the two colors the leaked model appeared in. It is possible that there will be more than  just two color variants, though.

Once again, we get to see some more features of Meizu‘s upcoming Pro 7 flagship courtesy of a couple of leaked photo of a working unit. The Meizu Pro 7, as we already know, will feature two displays, a large 5.2-inch display at the front while there will be a 2-inch display at the rear. 

The idea of a smartphone packing two displays on both sides is innovative enough to generate some interest in the upcoming flagship. The secondary display was initially thought to be an e-ink display which would display missed calls/sms notifications, time/ date and a couple of other icons. But now, it looks like the Pro 7’s display has much more functions than those. The leaked photos show that the back screen will have Meizu’ Flyme interface with similar icons on the main display’s home screen.

The MeizuPro 7 is turning out to be more interesting than we thought. Apart from the dual screens, the Pro 7 will be the first Meizu smartphone to pack a dual camera setup at the rear. The photo also shows the main camera can be used to take selfie shots while it is being previewed on the secondary display. In essence, the rear screen looks like a miniaturised version of the front screen but sure, there can’t be exactly the same functionalities on both displays. The secondary display looks good for one handed control but that will only be comfortable with the left hand.

In addition to these features, MediaTek has already confirmed that the Pro 7 will be the first Helio X30-powered smartphone. As per the configuration, the Pro 7 will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p display and would have a 4GB + 64GB memory version and another with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.   The Pro 7 is also expected to start at 2799 Yuan (~$410) and is expected to be launched at the end of this month.

The Meizu Pro 7 is shaping up to be an interesting device, thanks to its secondary display.

Initially we had thought the Pro 7’s secondary display was an e-ink type but a bunch of live images that appeared last week revealed its a smaller LCD display.

More live images have been posted on Weibo by @Digital Chat Station and this time we get a closer look at the dual rear cameras. Leaked specification details say the rear cameras are a combination of a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor and a 12MP IMX268. The former is the same sensor in the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 and the Meizu MX6.

The cameras are positioned horizontally and sit above the secondary display. There is also a dual LED flash flanking it on the left. It is unknown what configuration Meizu will use for its dual cameras. We have seen more big manufacturers join the wide angle + telephoto lens train but if it is aiming for a superior low light performance, Huawei’s way may be the path it takes.

In addition to the picture focusing on the camera, a second one shows the secondary display in action. From the looks of it, there is a PAC-MAN-like game running on it. It appears, the display will not only show notifications but work like the primary one.

A third image shows a bunch of rear shells with cut-outs for the rear display and cameras. The shells come in blue, red, gold, rose gold and black. It is interesting to see Meizu is bringing new colors (red and blue) to its flagship line. They look good on the Blue Charm M5C, so they should look good on the Pro 7 too.

Over the past few days, we have been treated on several occasions with leaked renders of Meizu‘s expected Pro 7 flagship. The leaked renders have all been consistent in showcasing the design the device will come with. The leaked renders are still streaming in, this time around we have got multiple renders of the Meizu Pro 7 which seems to have been produced by a Chinese protective case maker. The protective casing comes in red and black colours. 

The renders were shared by a Chinese tipster on Weibo and it shows the protective shell was custom-made for the Pro 7. The case is touted to offer 360-degree protection, that is all sides of the device will be adequately protected. While we have seen almost all that the Pro 7 has to offer in terms of design, these leaked render answers some minor questions yet to be attended to. One of such is the presence of a 3.5mm audio jack on the Pro 7. The power button has a roughened surface which will likely be to help differentiate it from the volume rockers. You may want to ask if that is relevant. Well, it is for people like me who sometimes gets confused in the dark which of the button does what.

The renders also reveal the likelihood of a USB Type-C port featuring on the Pro 7. The secondary display and rear dual cameras are also visible at the rear and up front, the disappointing large bezels are unfortunate additions we’ll have to deal with on the Pro 7. Finally, the real photo of Meizu‘s “most-wanted” flagship Pro 7 that has been the subject of rumours since last year has appeared online showing us what could be the real deal from various angles. The design of the Pro 7 recently leaked showing an innovative concept, a secondary display located at the back of the smartphone, something we have never seen before. Don’t get it all wrong, we know secondary displays are not new, the likes of LG, Yotaphone have been using that all this while but the thing is that the location has always been at the front, hovering above the main display. In contrast, that of Meizu is located on the top left corner of the back casing.

Taking a closer look at the leaked photos, we can gather that the display will have a curved glass on top and unfortunately, there is still a sizeable amount of bezels around the display both at the top and bottom. The side bezels are quite thin but since they are there, the black borders around the display are still visible. We already know the device will have a front fingerprint sensor located on the mBack button. There seems to be a single opening for the selfie camera up front without any other opening. The working home screen carries a theme which looks like Android Nougat, of course with a touch of Meizu’s Flyme OS. 

The rear view offers a view of the secondary display in action and seems to be a miniature replica of the front home screen. As beautiful as the design may be, we are yet to see its spectacular importance apart from keeping you from opening up the main display all the time there is a notification beep. The rear display also houses the rear camera which is a dual setup as well as a LED flash in the same square. Also visible, is the U-shaped antenna band design wich fuses with the metal body.  

We still got to see the device captured from the side but the photo is not clear enough for us to make out the features located at the bottom edge and the side rockers present.  Obviously, the power button and the volume rockers will be by the side but at the bottom, we can’t tell if it is a USB Type-C port from the blurred photo.

This latest set of leaked photos is an indication that the Pro 7 may likely be launched soon. The Pro 7 is expected to pack a MediaTek Helio X30 chip and from the leaked renders, the flagship model will likely be available in Gold and Black colours. There may be more colour variants aside from these two, though.

The device will be launched alongside the Pro 7 Plus with a bigger display. The prices of both the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus have now leaked and they are perhaps more than you’d expect. The Pro 7 will retail for 2799 Yuan (~$409) for the base model while the higher version will carry a price tag of 3299 Yuan (around $484).  On the other hand, the Meizu Pro 7 Plus will start at 3299 yuan (~$484) while the higher version will sell for 3799 yuan (~$555). The prices are ridiclously high such that these are too bad instead of too good to be true.

In addition, the latest rumored specs of the Pro 7 tips the device as packing a 5.5-inch display as against 5.2 inches on previous leakes. However, the new leak also tips the Pro 7 as coming with a MeidaTek Helio X30 chip. and a dual Sony IMX386 + IMX286 dual cameras among others. But we still don’t know if the product with a Exynos 8895 version but there are rumours it does. Other specs include a 16MP front camera, 3.5mm audio jack as well as a USB Type-C port. The device is also expected to come with Meizu’s trademark mBack home button and its fast charging technology. We won’t forget in a hurry the e-ink secondary display the Pro 7 is said to come with which would be located at the rear and would show notifcations as well as display time, date etc.

Meizu has been unusually low in the number of smartphones they have released so far this year when compared with smartphones released last year. The Meizu Pro has been the subject of recent rumours and has been a long awaited device. The flagship model has now tipped as coming on July 26. The tip is an unofficial one that can’t really be authenticated so we can treat it as a rumour. But then, anything is possible when it comes to China’s OEMs and rumours/ leaks.

The leaked renders of the Pro 7 which have made the rounds over the week, all make the Pro 7 a smartphone to look forward to. The design looks like an innovative one with a secondary display stationed at the back of the device. The secondary display will show notifications like incoming messages, missed calls, WeChat messages, date and time. The display is said to be an E-ink display.

Meizu Pro 7 is now enjoying the front seat in the media as more and more leaks of the device emerge. Meizu is known for its quality phones and the Pro 7 seems set to take the bar even higher if the leaks we are getting are anything to go by. Recently, a couple of leaked renders of the Pro 7  surfaced, suggesting that the device will not only have a front display but will also feature a secondary display.

Another real live image of the Pro 7 which shows the design has appeared in a new leak. The leaked photo shows the rear cover of the device where the secondary display will sit. The rear casing is captured in two images showing the external and internal view of the device. The secondary display will be at the left corner and its function may be to display time and date, reminders, WeChat message notification and others. The display may likely be made from e-ink which would make it less energy consuming.

Despite the innovative design, we are still at a loss as to why a smartphone will come packing a rear display but then, there may be more to it than we know presently. The device is also tipped as packing a MediaTek Helio X30 chip, a 5.2-inch 1080p display up front and a dual Sony IMX386 + IMX286 dual camera etc.

More evidence keeps coming out to confirm Meizu is indeed serious now about the flagship Pro 7 that has been on the front burner of leaks for the past year or so. Not too long ago, Meizu’s new senior VP sort of confirmed the existence of the Pro 7 with a new design and very recently, a couple of renders of the Meizu Pro 7 leaked showing it will have a secondary display at the rear. Turns out the renders may just be the real Pro 7 as a couple of leaked fuselage of the Pro 7 have appeared which look similar to the renders. 

The metal fuselage which appears in red and black colors are said to be those of the Pro 7. The Meizu logo is also written at the back. Of particular importance is the rear shell which shows that the design comes with provision for a secondary display which would be domiciled at the rear. There is also a wide opening at the top which is just wide enough for a dual camera setup and way to wide to house one camera. That is also an indication that the Pro 7 will likely come with a dual camera setup as already rumoured.

The Pro 7 may also have received 3C certification in China with two new Meizu models M792C and M792Q spotted to have received 3C certification. Speculation that these models may be the Pro 7 models were fuelled by the 24W fast charging capacity their chargers feature which was also featured by the flagship Pro 6 Plus’ charger.

The Meizu Pro 7 is expected to utilize MeidaTek’s latest Helio X30 flagship chip and a USB type-C interface among other new features but the 3.5mmm audio jack is still retained. The device is also expected with the U-shaped antenna band design which has been a regular on Meizu models lately. Earlier rumours tip the Pro 7 as launching on July 10 but we are not so sure about that.

Barely 3 days after a leaked image of the Meizu Pro 7 surfaced along with the specifications, another leaked image said to be the real-life image of the Pro 7 has appeared online. The image only shows the upper edge aspect of the device as well as the rear cover with only just a few details.

While we cannot authenticate if this leaked image is real or not, there are a few features which caught our attention. The device is notice to feature both a USB Type-C port as well as a 3.5mm audio jack, with both lying close to each other. There is also the speaker grill and a U-shape fused antenna band design. The device which seems to be a prototype has the Meizu logo written on the back showing it was designed by the tech giant.

Meizu has hinted that the Pro 7 will have a spectacular design but there is really nothing spectacular about this design. There isn’t much to see, though, but from what we can see, the shape looks like that of a device that holds lots of promises. We still don’t know much about the specs but the Pro 7 is said to feature a 5.2-inch display and may likely be powered by an Exynos 8895 chipset. A recent leak also suggested the Pro 7 would feature a secondary display and would debut alongside the Pro 7 Plus.

The Meizu Pro 7 is one smartphone that has been the subject of series of leaks and quite frankly, the model commands a lot of attraction from fans and others. Unfortunately, Meizu is yet to meet our expectations by releasing its flagship Pro 7. So, we still have to continue feasting on leaked renders and rumors instead of the real deal.

Here one of such renders of the Meizu Pro 7 which we can’t say is the real device but certainly looks good to behold. The design sure looks like that of the Pro 6S and Pro 6 Plus but the device comes with an unusually large display which almost covers the entire screen. There are just some bezels at the top which houses the front camera and earpiece and bottom of the display but the sides are completely bezel-less. The device may likely use onscreen buttons given the lack of a physical home button up front.

Except we don’t expect the Pro 7 to launch this year, if not this renders are likely not going to be the design of the Pro 7. This is likely so because Meizu VP had hinted that the company isn’t planning to release a full-screen bezel-less phone this year. So, this is very likely a fan-made concept render of the Pro 7 which might just be for your delight and nothing more. But we’re not sure Meizu will run through the year without releasing a flagship model. What that model would look like we can’t tell just yet but the likely specs have been the subject of recent rumours.

An earlier leak had tipped the Meizu Pro 7 to come with a 5.7-inch 4K display (resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels) with support for AOD display screen technology. The flagship is also said to feature an Helio X30 chipset and would also come packing a rear camera with 12MP Sony IMX362 CMOS sensor among several other features. We are not entirely sure, though, that we’ll finally get to see the long-awaited Pro 7 this month. It could turn out to be another model.

Meizu will be launching the E2 tomorrow and ahead of the launch, there have been series of leaks about the E2. The Meizu E2’s design has been sort of confirmed when the images and specs of the device appeared on TENAA. The E2 design seems to also have featured in a leaked Powerpoint screenshot which seems to be out of the launch venue. The PPT document shows the Meizu E2 would come in different colour variants.

While the Meizu E2 is likely the device that would be launched tomorrow, there are speculations that Meizu may also unveil a flagship series smartphone, the Pro 7 tomorrow. Fans of the Meizu brand have been waiting for the Pro 7 for a while now, with no end in sight to the wait. But some analysts are of the opinion that the Pro 7 might be launched along with the E2 just the same way its predecessor, the Pro 6 Plus was announced along with the M3X in November last year. We can’t say for sure but it is a possibility since there is a precedent.

A Weibo user, Monday leaked the likely specifications of the Pro 7 and there is really not much difference from earlier leaks. The Pro 7 will have a 5.2-inch 2K display with its highest version equipped with 6GB of RAM. No mention was made of the processor but the device is said to pack a 12MP rear camera, a 3500mAh battery and run Android 7.0 Nougat-based Flyme OS. The Meizu Pro 7 is also said to come with a comprehensive screen design and Meizu’s mCharge fast charge technology.

The Pro 7 is said to start at 2699 Yuan which is the price the Pro 6S launched with. But recently, the Meizu Pro 6S which is the latest in the lineup got a 200 Yuan price cut. This could be a way to offload the remaining stock before the launch of a new flagship. We can’t be so sure, so we’ll wait and see what the event plays out.

Last year, Meizu released a series of smartphones with not so spectacular specs lineup but all that changed when the Meizu Pro 6 Plus was released. It seems Meizu is intent on taking the bar a tad higher this year as the Meizu Pro 7 specifications have leaked so early in the year.

The Meizu Pro 7 isn’t a new entrant to the rumor mills, the device was earlier rumored as coming last year but wasn’t launched eventually. It should be noted that the Pro7 was among the devices listed in the leaked Meizu product schedule for 2017. And if that schedule is to be taken seriously, the Pro 7 should debut in June this year with a MediaTek Helio X30 chip onboard.

The leaked specification appeared in form of a Powerpoint document with images purported to be those of the device. The image, however, resembles those of the Pro 6 Plus, so we doubt if they are really for the purported Pro 7 or if the Pro 7 even exists.

Be that as it may, the leak specifies that the Meizu Pro 7 would feature a titanium body as well as a 5.7-inch 4K display (resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels) with support for AOD display screen technology. The flagship is also rumored as packing a rear camera with 12MP Sony IMX362 CMOS sensor. The camera is said to retain the ring flash featured on the Pro 6 and Pro 6 Plus.

On the SoC, the Pro 7 is rumored as coming with an Helio X30 chip with more than two storage versions. The base version is expected with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and it is expected with a 3299 yuan price tag. The second version expected to feature 6GB RAM + 128GB storage has a rumored price of 3,599  yuan. Yet, there is a third with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage rumored to be priced at 3799 Yuan. We’ll need to take these leaked specifications and photos with a pinch of salt because they are too outrageously good to be true.

Meizu X came out of the blues recently and we almost forgot a Pro 7 flagship is being expected from Meizu. Now, new images of the Meizu Pro 7 have popped up online reminding us of the device and revealing the possibility of the device launching alongside the Meizu X on November 30.

The Meizu Pro 7 is said to feature a curved display and that is likely to be on one version of the device because earlier rumor also hint at the existence of a flat screen version. We had earlier seen renders of the curved display but these renders also show the device from the back view. The Meizu Pro 7 features a unique ring flash at the rear, circling round the 12MP rear camera.

The Pro 7 is also rumored as coming in two versions with one sporting a 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM as well as a high-end versiom with 6GB RAM + 64GB of storage. There is a large 3,500mAh inside the device said to feature wireless charging.

The Meizu X is confirmed to launch on November 30 just as it is almost confirmed to pack a Helio P20 chip as well as run on Flyme 6.0 OS. Perhaps Meizu will confirm via another teaser, the launch of the Pro 7 or the X may even just be the Pro 7. We can’t be so sure about that, so we’ll wait till then.

Just recently, renders of a bezel-less phone said to be in the making by Meizu were leaked. We then got wind of the rumor that the bezel-less phone might be the Meizu Pro 7 which had been making the rounds in the news for a while now.

The latest rumor on this is that the expected Meizu Pro 7 might use an Hisilicon Kirin 960 chip, Huawei’s latest. The Kirin 960 has only been used on the Huawei Mate 9, Mate 9 Porsche Design and Mate 9 Pro, all part of the Mate 9 series.

Now the Meizu Pro 7 is expected as Meizu’s next generation flagship and it wouldn’t be a bad idea if the device is powered by the Kirin 960. Meizu doesn’t use Qualcomm chips nor Samsung’s on its devices but rather had consistently stuck with MediaTek chipset. A shift to Kirin would infuse a breath of freshness into the flagship device.

Huawei did reveal that it is ready to sell the Kirin 960 chips to other phone manufacturers. However, it is unlikely that such a scenario would be possible presently. According to the vice-President of Huawei phones, Huawei is very busy at present selling its latest products that there might not be time to do other work aside selling.

We saw leaks of what looked like prototype images of the rumored Meizu Pro 7 flagship few days back on Meizu community. This same device has been leaked again on the Meizu community and this time, the images look quite real, in the hands of an operator.

The image renders shows the device sporting the curved display screen earlier rumored and even though the images look quite grainy, we were able to scoop a few details from them.

Apart from the curved display screen, the oval physical home button is also revealed, so also are the chamfered edges which alongside the curved display is likely to make the Pro 7 a good phone for one handed operations. The curved display on this leak doesn’t look over bloated but quite real.

The Meizu Pro 7 flagship had earlier on been spotted in AnTuTu with the model number Meizu_m96, listed as having a display resolution of 2560 x 1440pixels (likely 5.5-inches in size), powered by Exynos 8890 processor with Mali-T880 GPU. The processor is supported by a 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The device is also listed as having a 12MP rear facing camera with a 5MP sensor up front and boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

There are also rumors that the Pro 7 will be released by Meizu on September 13 and the price will likely hover around 3000 Yuan ($451).

Meizu’s rumored Pro 7 flagship smartphone which was spotted on AnTuTu Benchmark few days back have appeared in image renders spotted online. The device which is said to feature Samsung’s Exynos 8890 chipset is displayed on the Interactive community section of Meizu’s forums.

One notable feature of the expected flagship revealed on the leaked images is that it would have a curved display screen that extends to the sides. There is an oval-shaped physical Home button as well, just under the display screen.

The Meizu Pro 7 renders also reveal a dual camera set up which is visible at the back of the flagship. There’s a large primary camera and just underneath is the supporting camera which perhaps should provide depth of field only. There is also the Meizu exclusive “Ring Flash” just under the second camera. Also visible at the back are antenna lines both at the top and bottom edges.

The name of the device is also clearly written at the rear as Pro 7, shown also to be designed by Meizu in China. According to the AnTuTu records, the device sports a 5.5-inch display which is rumored to have a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels.

In other aspects, the Meizu Pro 7 is said to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow from the go, cram 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage space under its hood. The flagship phone also features a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The pixel size of the second camera at the back is unknown at this point in time.

Meizu’s Vice President, Li Nan has reportedly revealed that plans are in top gear to produce what would likely be Meizu’s next generation flagship for 2017. The news is coming just days after the Chinese company released its 2016 Meizu MX6 flagship with amazing features.

Mr. Nan seems to have made the disclosure in a conversation earlier today and also hinted that the Pro 7 will sport a better processor, different from Samsung’s Exynos 8890 featured on earlier Meizu version from the Pro 5 down. The Meizu Pro 6 announced in May this year did not feature the Exynos 8890 chipset but rather came with the high-end MediaTek Helio X25 chip.  The new chipset is reputed to be faster and stronger.

Also, the Vice President further disclosed that the new processor will support all networks, unlike the Exynos 8890 on earlier Meizu phones which only supports some network bands in China.

Since we saw the Pro 6 just a few months back, expect the Pro 7 to be announced only by next year.
