However, the company did not launch the Meizu X2 as a successor phone for it in 2017. Today, Meizu VP Li Nan finally gave out some vital information about the arrival time, specs and pricing of the phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-174626" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Meizu-X.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="312" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Meizu-X.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Meizu-X-300x156.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><br />
The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2016/11/29/meizu-x-officially-announced-helio-p20-chip-12mp-sony-imx386-camera-refreshed-design/">Meizu X had arrived in 2016</a> with a premium appeal as it featured 2.5 curved glass flanked with double ceramic crystal coating. It also featured impressive specs. Hence, Meizu fans were earnestly waiting for the launch of Meizu X2. Today, Li Nan confirmed that the arrival of the Meizu X2 was delayed and the company is now aiming to launch it at the end of this year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-174628" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Meizu-X2-Leaks.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu X2 Li Nan" width="600" height="577" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Meizu-X2-Leaks.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Meizu-X2-Leaks-300x289.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>Li Nan had previously claimed the second-generation Meizu X won’t be a mid-range phone, but it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/12/29/meizus-li-nan-reveals-details-next-gen-meizu-x-likely-price/">will be packed with flagship specs</a>. Today, he has revealed that the Snapdragon 845 chipset will be powering the Meizu X2 and it will be arriving with a price tag of 2,999 Yuan (~$473).</p>
<p>Meizu has recently launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-m6-s-smartphone-full-specification-and-features/">Meizu M6S</a> with full screen design. Recent reports have revealed that the upcoming Meizu phones like Meizu E3, Meizu 15, Meizu 15 Lite and Meizu Plus will be also sporting a full screen design. Hence, the Meizu X2 is also pegged to feature an 18:9 aspect ratio display. Early rumors had claimed that the rear panel of the phone may feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/01/leaked-meizu-x2-live-images-reveals-circular-secondary-display/">round-shaped secondary display.</a></p>

<p>He added that the company will be launching <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-e3/">Meizu E3</a> to fill in the void by arriving with high-end specs and affordable pricing. The Meizu E3 is slated to get announced on March 6. It is rumored to be as powerful as Snapdragon 660 powered Smartisan Nuts Pro 2. Rumors have it the forthcoming MediaTek Helio P70 chipset may power the E3 smartphone.</p>

One of such flagship-looking midrange smartphone is the Meizu X. The Chinese company launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-x/">Meizu X </a>around November last year packing an impressive design, Helio P20 chip and 2.5D curved glass among other features. The tech giant should have launched a successor to the well-received smartphone but that didn&#8217;t happen up till now. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/meizu-15-plus.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-161534" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/meizu-15-plus.jpg?x44794" alt="meizu 15 plus" width="800" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/meizu-15-plus.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/meizu-15-plus-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/meizu-15-plus-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>It is almost certain that we wouldn&#8217;t be seeing a successor to the Meizu X this year anymore. However, Meizu&#8217;s VP Li Nan may have revealed some details of the second-gen model that would take over from the X. We still don&#8217;t know the name of the model but previous leaks had identified it as the Meizu X2.  Li Nan is credited to have hinted in a live broadcast that the next generation Meizu X is a flagship model and no longer a midrange phone. He also hinted that there would be a  substantial upgrade in the specs and that would take the price up to around 2,499 Yuan. This would place the next-gen Meizu X  way higher than its predecessor that started at 1,699 Yuan for the lower model and 1,999 Yuan for the topmost model.</p>

<p>The Meizu VP did not disclose specific details of the Meizu X2&#8217;s specifications but the smartphone is expected to keep up with the current full-screen trend. We also expect the device to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor since MediaTek has stopped developing flagship chips. No word yet as to when the device will be launched but we expect it to drop in the first quarter of 2018.</p>

Being a Chinese company, the patent office in China is usually a good source for information on what Meizu has in the works. A new set of renders said to be those of an unnamed Meizu smartphone has reportedly been spotted at the Chinese patent office. The device is unnamed but believed to be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/01/leaked-meizu-x2-live-images-reveals-circular-secondary-display/">Meizu X2 and a previous leaked live photos</a> lend credence to that.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-3.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-154550" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-3-1024x500.png?x44794" alt="Meizu X2" width="640" height="313" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-3-1024x500.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-3-300x146.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-3-768x375.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-3.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>The device apparently found its way to the patent office as a result of the new design which it adopts and apart from the renders, the complete schematics of the phone was also spotted. The design is different from those of other Meizu phones we have seen in the past. The Meizu phone seems to have a secondary display just like the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus but the display this time around wears a circular design and is located right in the middle of the back panel. The secondary display may not have as many functions as those of the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus. The display may show only time, battery and perhaps a few notifications.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-4.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-154551" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-4-1024x513.png?x44794" alt="Meizu X2" width="640" height="321" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-4-1024x513.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-4-300x150.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-4-768x385.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/unknown-meizu-4.png 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Read More:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/10/18/meizu-bezel-less-phone-leak/">Meizu’s Mysterious New Smartphone With Bezel-Less Design Leaks Online</a></strong></p>
<p>The Meizu X2 is said to belong to the Blue Charm series which is a mid-range series. The device seems to have a curved edge design and on the renders and schematics, the rear camera is located just above the secondary display. The position will likely be located a lot higher than where it is on the renders just as seen on the leaked images we saw in the past. The selfie camera will also be centrally placed at the top of the display where it will be housed by the large bezels there. The device also packs the trademark mBack button and looks like what will have a USB Type-C.  There is no doubt the renders are real because apart from the leaked live images, a reader on Slashleaks also shared the photos of the device in the comment section and hinted that it is in the works. However, we don&#8217;t know when Meizu will release this model but a launch may not take place this year. We may have to wait till 2018 to meet with this new model.</p>

One special feature present in both phones is a secondary AMOLED display on the back. It is a first of its kind in terms of design and type of display used, but not the first phones to have a second display at the back.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-143233" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Meizu-X2-b.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu X2" width="400" height="596" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Meizu-X2-b.jpg 400w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Meizu-X2-b-201x300.jpg 201w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></p>
<p>A new leak has revealed that we may be getting another Meizu phone with a secondary display in the near future. The leak is a set of images of a phone said to be the Meizu X2; and unlike the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus with rectangular secondary displays, this one has a circular display.</p>
<p>One of the images show the secondary screen showing the date and the other shows a charging icon. Although the authenticity of the images haven&#8217;t been confirmed yet as it kind of looks like a poor attempt at photoshop, but we can all agree this is an interesting take on dual displays.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-143234" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Meizu-X2.png?x44794" alt="Meizu X2" width="650" height="416" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Meizu-X2.png 650w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Meizu-X2-300x192.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px" /></p>
<p>There are circular AMOLED displays used for smartwatches and I am sure some display companies have units laying around. It won&#8217;t be a far-fetched idea for a phone manufacturing company to pick up some of those displays and use it in its phones.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff0000;">READ MORE:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/07/28/meizu-pro7-pro-plus-registrations-cross-10000-mark/">Meizu PRO7, PRO 7 Plus Registrations Cross 10,000 Mark</a><span id="more-142990"></span></p>
<p>The implementation is the important part. The images above show basic usage similar to what we already see on smartphones when you apply a flip case (those with a circular cut-out in front). For this to work it must offer more than these basic features as additional features that take advantage of a circular display are key to its success. We are looking forward to what Meizu comes up with.</p>
<p>There isn&#8217;t any other info about the Meizu X2 with respect to specifications. The images show it has a single rear camera though.</p>

The right side of the image that contained information on the specs and pricing of the phone was blurred. The presence of a dual rear camera on it suggested that it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/05/01/meizu-pro-7-dual-rear-camera-spotted-leaked-photo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">could be the company’s forthcoming flagship phone, the Meizu Pro 7</a>. Now, the same image has appeared once again and the information on its right side is quite clear and easily readable.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-129325 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Meizu-X2.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu-X2" width="580" height="326" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Meizu-X2.jpg 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Meizu-X2-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px" /></p>
<p>The leaked image suggests that the name of the phone is Meizu X2. The Meizu X2 is speculated to be a successor phone for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/meizu-x/">Meizu X</a> that was launched in November 2016. The display of the phone has thin bezels on its left and right sides. Even the top bezel that houses a selfie camera and the bottom bezel that reportedly features fingerprint reader enabled Home button are quite thin.</p>
<p>The top left corner of the phone features a horizontally arranged dual rear camera which is probably the USP of the phone. It seems to be coupled with a dual-tone LED flash. Hence, the Meizu X2 is speculated to be the first dual camera phone from the company. The Meizu branding is present just above the center of the rear panel. Around a month ago, the rumor mill had revealed alleged images of the first dual rear camera phone. In the below image, a phone that is placed at the center appears somewhat similar to the Meizu X2 phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class=" wp-image-129324 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Meizu-Dual-Camera-Smartphone-Leak-01.jpg?x44794" alt="Meizu-Dual-Camera-Smartphone-Leak-01" width="609" height="343" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Meizu-Dual-Camera-Smartphone-Leak-01.jpg 400w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Meizu-Dual-Camera-Smartphone-Leak-01-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 609px) 100vw, 609px" /></p>

<p>The alleged Meizu X2 also carries information on the key specs of the phone. There is no information on the size of the screen, but the leaked details suggest that it is shielded with a 2.5D curved glass. Like the Meizu X, it may feature a 5.5-inch full HD screen. The phone has a MediaTek Helio X25 SoC under its hood and it features a 3,350 mAh battery that is coupled with 18W fast charger.</p>
<p>The rumored Meizu X2 will be arriving in three versions. There will be two 32 GB RAM variants featuring 3 GB RAM and 4 GB RAM options. These models will be respectively priced at 1,749 Yuan ($253) and 1,899 Yuan ($275). The highest configuration variant of Meizu X2 will be packed with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage. It will be costing 1,999 Yuan ($289).</p>
