Later in the same year, it also became one of the first smartphone manufacturers to launch devices with a 64MP camera (</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-8-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi Note 8 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">) as well as a 108MP camera (</span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-cc9-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mi CC9 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">). Now, according to Sudhanshu, a well-known tipster on Twitter, Xiaomi is working on a phone with a whopping 144MP camera.</span></p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Xiaomi is working on a phone with 144MP camera sensor.<br />I guess it should be Mi 10S Pro or Mi CC10 Pro</p>
<p>&mdash; Sudhanshu A. (@Sudhanshu1414) <a href="https://twitter.com/Sudhanshu1414/status/1245584965393207302?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 2, 2020</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The megapixels game on smartphones was dead for a few years since the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/Nokia"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Nokia </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lumia 1020. But when </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/Sony"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sony</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> announced its 48MP IMX586 sensor, the game was back on with </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/Samsung/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Samsung</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, another major supplier of smartphone cameras joining the bandwagon.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As for clients, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/Xiaomi"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">is one of the few companies participating in the Megapixel race. Being the first to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/11/05/xiaomi-mi-cc9-pro-debuts-with-108mp-penta-lens-sd730g-curved-display-and-5260mah-battery-for-2799-yuan/">launch a phone with a 108MP sensor</a>, the brand wants to continue the streak with the upcoming 144MP sensor as suggested by the tipster.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As per the tip, this new 144MP sensor could either debut on Xiaomi Mi 10S Pro or Mi CC10 Pro. However, the leakster did not say anything about who will be supplying this sensor to Xiaomi. As of now, only Samsung is </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/12/16/samsung-to-make-a-144mp-camera-sensor-using-14nm-processing/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">rumored to be working</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> on a 144MP camera sensor so there are high chances of it being the sole supplier of this new large sensor.</span></p>
