<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> is reserving that title to its </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi 12 Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, in which Xiaomi pours in their best tech into creating the “Ultra” Xiaomi smartphone. And new info has confirmed the existence of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra device, as well as its model number.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The news comes from </span><a href="https://xiaomiui.net/exclusive-xiaomi-12-ultra-spotted-on-imei-database-7121/"><span style="font-weight: 400">xiaomiui.net</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. They have recently spotted the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi 12 Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> in Xiaomi’s IMEI database, bearing the model number Xiaomi 2206122SC, and with an internal reference name of Xiaomi L2S. For context, the L2 model number belonged to the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi 12 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. Therefore, it can be deduced that the Xiaomi L2S belongs in the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi 12</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> series. But why does the name indicate that it will be a Xiaomi 12 Ultra? Why not a Xiaomi 12 Lite or Xiaomi 12 SE?</span></p>
<figure id="attachment_444462" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-444462" style="width: 768px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-444462" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Xiaomi-12-Ultra-IMEI-Database.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi-12-Ultra-IMEI-Database" width="768" height="153" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Xiaomi-12-Ultra-IMEI-Database.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Xiaomi-12-Ultra-IMEI-Database-300x60.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Xiaomi-12-Ultra-IMEI-Database-696x139.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-444462" class="wp-caption-text">Xiaomi 12 Ultra listed in IMEI Database with <span style="font-weight: 400">model number 2206122SC</span></figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The reason is that in 2020, the model number Xiaomi J1 (M2001J1C) belonged to the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi 10 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. The model number of Xiaomi J1S (M2007J1SC), which came out 6 months after the Mi 10 Pro, belonged to the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi 10 Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. Therefore if </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> follows its internal codename naming scheme, the market name of the device with model number L2S should be the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi 12 Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">.</span></p>

But we can expect the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi 12 Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> to share most of its specs from its sibling, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-12-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Xiaomi 12 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, as both the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi 10 Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-11-ultra/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi 11 Ultra</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> shared a lot of specs with their cheaper siblings, the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-5g/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi 10 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-11-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Mi 11 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> albeit with a more bold and unique design. </span></p>

Apparently, the upcoming flagship smartphone lineup will feature three 50 megapixel primary image sensors on the rear.</p>
<p>The news arrives from known tipster @<a href="https://weibo.com/6048569942/KDqbblYEa?from=page_1005056048569942_profile&amp;wvr=6&amp;mod=weibotime&amp;type=comment" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">数码闲聊站</a> on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). As per the social media post, the company is planning on launching the smartphone with a 50+50+50 megapixel camera solution on the rear. This would include a large primary sensor, along with a high resolution ultra wide angle lens, and another high resolution periscopic telephoto camera as well. This is in line with our previous reports about the Chinese tech giant&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/13/xiaomi-mi-12-powered-by-snapdragon-898-chipset-could-have-ceramic-body-and-5000mah-battery/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi 12 sporting a 50 megapixel primary camera</a> over a 200 megapixel sensor.</p>

<p>The tipster also added that the three 50 megapixel triple camera system is set to be launched in two flagship series. The other flagship lineup in question is expected to be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s22/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung Galaxy S22</a> series. So, within the Xiaomi 12 series, we can expect at least the top model to feature this high end camera system. Talking about some of the other expected specifications, the upcoming flagship series will likely feature the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-898/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Qualcomm Snapdragon 898</a> SoC and will house up to a 5,000mAh battery pack with support 120W wired fast charging and 100W wireless fast charging as well. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report so take it with a pinch of salt for now.</p>

Rumors indicate that the upcoming flagship smartphone from the company &#8212; Xiaomi Mi 12 series could feature the same design scheme.</p>
<p>Now, a <a href="https://news.mydrivers.com/1/788/788516.htm">new report</a> has surfaced online which reveals more details about the upcoming Xiaomi flagship smartphone. It is being said that the Mi 12 smartphone will be lighter and thinner with several improvements in terms of looks compared to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi-mi-11">Mi 11 series</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-418602 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Xiaomi-Smartphone-Feature.jpeg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Smartphone Feature Image" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Xiaomi-Smartphone-Feature.jpeg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Xiaomi-Smartphone-Feature-300x200.jpeg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p>It is also claimed that the Xiaomi Mi 12 will use dual-core materials and design schemes that can increase the energy density to a certain extent, and is said to pack a 5,000mAh <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/battery">battery</a>. This means that the smartphone will have a thinner body despite packing a larger capacity battery.</p>
<p>The device will have a ceramic back panel, which isn&#8217;t the first time Xiaomi will be using it for its flagship smartphone. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-4-5g/">Mi MIX 4</a> flagship smartphone from the company already comes with a ceramic body.</p>
<p>Recently, <em>Digital Chat Station</em> had revealed that the Mi 12 will have thinner bezels and chin, making for a better viewing experience. Further, it added that the curved display in the flagship lineup will be replaced with a hyperboloid solution, and will offer a higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessor.</p>
<p>Internally, the upcoming flagship smartphone is said to come powered by the unannounced Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-898">Snapdragon 898 chipset</a>. If we are to go by the past record, then it could be the first smartphone in the world to come powered by the Snapdragon 898 SoC.</p>
<p>It is also being claimed that the new camera setup on the Mi 12 series will sport a 50-megapixel primary sensor over the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/08/28/xiaomi-mi-12-mi-cc11-camera-specs/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">previously reported 200-megapixel sensor</a>. As for now, there&#8217;s no way of confirming this but we will get to know more about this upcoming smartphone as the launch date nears.</p>

The device will sport top notch specs and features, and now, a new report has suggested that it will also arrive with certain changes in design.</p>
<p>According to known tipster @数码闲聊站 on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website), the company will be adopting a new packaging process for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi-mi-12/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mi 12</a>. This new process would enable the Chinese tech giant to further narrow down the bezels and chin of the device, which would make for a better viewing experience as well. Furthermore, the tipster also added that the curved display in the flagship lineup will be replaced with a hyperboloid solution. The smaller bezels also imply that the device will offer a higher screen to body ratio than its predecessors.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-415279 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-349.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi" width="730" height="299" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-349.png 730w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-349-300x123.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Screenshot-349-696x285.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 730px) 100vw, 730px" /></p>
<p>The tipster also added that the arrangement of the triple camera setup n the rear will also adopt a new design. He stated that the module will now include a partition design, which would apparently add to its aesthetic appeal. Notably, the blogger also said that the new camera setup on the Mi 12 series will sport a 50 megapixel primary sensor over the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/08/28/xiaomi-mi-12-mi-cc11-camera-specs/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">previously reported 200 megapixel sensor</a>. Although, we have no way of confirming this news as of right now, so take this report with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.</p>

Earlier, we learned that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/06/xiaomi-mi-12-launch-dec-snapdragon-895-ahead-schedule/">the phone will board a flagship Snapdragon chipset</a> and may come with superior cameras. Now, a new leak suggests that the device could launch with a faster LPDDR5X RAM.</p>
<p>Recently, the JEDEC announced the new LPDDR5X RAM with a maximum data rate of 8,533 Mbps. This is way higher than the 6,400 Mbps data rate in the predecessor. While the current Snapdragon chipsets only support the vanilla LPDDR4 or LPDDR5 RAMs, the upcoming Snapdragon chips are slated to even support X-series RAMs.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-403138 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-12-to-equip-a-faster-LPDDR5X-RAM-Snapdragon-898-SoC.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi 12 to equip a faster LPDDR5X RAM, Snapdragon 898 SoC" width="1000" height="379" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-12-to-equip-a-faster-LPDDR5X-RAM-Snapdragon-898-SoC.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-12-to-equip-a-faster-LPDDR5X-RAM-Snapdragon-898-SoC-300x114.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-12-to-equip-a-faster-LPDDR5X-RAM-Snapdragon-898-SoC-768x291.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-12-to-equip-a-faster-LPDDR5X-RAM-Snapdragon-898-SoC-696x264.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></p>
<p>Taking it into consideration, Xiaomi is said to be the first phone maker to equip an X-series RAM with the implementation of LPDDR5X RAM in its upcoming phones. Reportedly, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 12 will come powered by the LPDDR5X RAM paired with a flagship Snapdragon chipset.</p>
<p>Previous rumors suggest that the Mi 12 will come with a Snapdragon 895 SoC. But, now, it is said that the Mi 12 will be powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/07/29/leak-snapdragon-898-is-qualcomms-next-gen-flagship-chipset/">Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 chipset</a>. For those who are unaware, the Snapdragon 898 will be a successor to the current <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888/">Snapdragon 888</a> and will be based on a 4nm process.</p>
<p>This means that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 12 will feature faster RAM, more power, and better 5G connectivity. Additionally, the Mi 12 was recently touted to support a whopping 200W fast charging technology. The phone is also<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/06/29/xiaomis-snapdragon-888-flagship-with-200mp-camera-could-be-in-works/"> tipped to boast a 200MP primary camera</a> alongside other lenses.</p>
<p>These specs seem quite enticing. But, this is just the initial stage of rumors about the smartphone. As we approach the launch later this year, we&#8217;re expecting to see some interesting features coming in the smartphone.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-263537 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi" width="750" height="516" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-300x206.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-696x479.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/qualcomm-610x420.jpg 610w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>According to @i<a href="https://weibo.com/u/5673255066?is_all=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">冰宇宙</a> (IceUniverse), the American chipmaking giant will be launching the Snapdragon 895 ahead of schedule by at least half a month. Since the launch of its latest flagship chips usually are at the start of a year, we could expect the new high end processor to launch in early December of this year. In other words, this would also imply that Xiaomi might be launching its next gen flagship, the Mi 12 lineup, by the end of this year.</p>
<p>While the name of the upcoming premium grade smartphone from Xiaomi is currently unknown, it will likely be called the Mi 12 and would be the first to feature, if not one of the first, to feature the new Snapdragon 895 SoC. Similarly, Chen Jin, General Manager of Lenovo has previously stated that its latest flagship phone will arrive with Snapdragon 895 and will launch before New Years day in 2022. So, Xiaomi might also be in line with a similar launch date.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-397785 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi 11 Mi 11 Pro Featured A" width="2160" height="1440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A.jpg 2160w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Xiaomi-Mi-11-Mi-11-Pro-Featured-A-1920x1280.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2160px) 100vw, 2160px" /></p>
<p>For those unaware, the Chinese tech giant and Qualcomm have had a close partnership for a while now, and has traditionally always launched its annual flagship close to the announcement of new chips. The company had previously launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mi-11/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mi 11</a>, which was the first to sport the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-888/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Snapdragon 888</a> in December 2020. But now, its successor might be unveiled by the start of December of this year.</p>
