Xiaomi released an Exclusive Edition of the Mi 5 dubbed Mi 5 Pro which comes only in Ceramic Black color  just after the release of the Mi 5 early this year. The Ceramic Black edition comes top among its contemporaries not only in the massive 128GB storage size it adopts, but also in its body design. Although it comes in the same design as the other versions, its own body was manufactured from ceramic, giving it a sleek, gentle but beautiful look.

However, seems Xiaomi may have discontinued production of the Ceramic black top end version as the device is no longer available on Xiaomi’s official online shop, mi.com. Only the version with black all-glass body is available for purchase by buyers.

This could be an indication that the tech giant has discontinued production of the flagship completely. Xiaomi had omitted using the Ceramic material on the recently launched Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus, citing production cost and speed. Xiaomi’s CEO had hinted during the Mi 5S launch that the ceramic material comes in more expensive than metal or plastic and takes more time to mass produce. Thus, it is likely the innovative start-up is parting ways with its Mi 5 Pro Exclusive version. Another reason could be that its price tag at 2499 Yuan is higher than the  2299 Yuan ($345) price tag for the high-end 128GB version of the latest Mi 5S.

So, what are all the expected versions of the Xiaomi Mi 5? First up, and the one we are most interested about is the Xiaomi Mi 5 dual camera edition. While information about the setup or release date is unclear at the moment, if it turns out to be true, it would be the first dual camera smartphone from the company. Naturally, given the setup, we can expect the phone to be costlier than the current models and the specs should be similar to the Mi 5 Pro top-end edition.

Next up, is the Xiaomi Mi 5 Metal edition. This particular model should come with an all metal body instead of glass or ceramic as found on the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro black version respectively. So, customers would be able to choose between three different materials for the Mi 5 including the all metal one.

Even there are different color options for the Mi 5. For the first time, you can choose between Mi 5 Gold and Purple colors and these models will go on sale in the next flash sale on Friday. There are Black and White versions of the device as well.

To make things easier to distinguish, the company can release these models with different names, such as Mi 5 dual or Mi 5 Metal. But at present, we don’t have concrete details about the same. What we do know is that the company is trying out different materials and colors for its flagship and we could soon see additional versions of the device.

Xiaomi released the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship with much fan fare last month. There were three different versions of the flagship smartphone, with the Mi 5 Pro being the most powerful version in the series.

However, even after a month of its release, the phone was not available for purchase. This was a bit disappointing since for around $415, the Mi 5 Pro was one of the best value for money options for consumers in the country and even outside (via third party sellers).

Earlier today, the company started taking registrations for the sale of just 2000 units of the Mi 5 Pro Commemorative Edition with the model number engraved at the back. The sale will be on March 31, however, given that there are already more than 160,000 users who have expressed interest in this flash sale, its likely that you won’t be able to get hold of one.

But now, Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Xiaomio Mi 5 Pro flagship will go on sale on a large scale on April 6, which is just a few days away. One of the highlights of the phone is its 3D ceramic body. Apart from this, the phone will have a faster clocked Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM and a large 128GB internal storage. As for the pricing, the Mi 5 Pro is priced at an amazing 2699 Yuan, which comes to around $415.

The first few days of April are going to be quite busy for the company and its fans since Xiaomi will be celebrating it’s sixth annivery. During this time, a lot of new products announced in the past few days are going to be made available for sale, along with existing products at a discounted price. Last year, Xiaomi made record sales and we can expect the company to set a new record this year.
