Few hours ago, we had reported on the leaked photos of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/24/xiaomi-mi-6x-live-shots-appear-before-official-launch/">real Mi 6X</a>. Now, two hands-on videos have surfaced from China to reveal the handset in real.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="Xiaomi Mi 6x real life photo and hands-on video leaked" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qSsWgDgD6lI?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>The first video seems to show the Gold variant of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-6x">Xiaomi Mi 6X</a> in action. The video reveals the same thing that has been already seen in the previously leaked images of the phone. It is metal-bodied handset has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, vertical dual camera setup and 18:9 aspect ratio display. The video is quite blurry because of which the specs page that appears at the end of the short clip is not clearly visible.</p>
<p>The other video has some key specs listed on the temporary plastic layer on the screen of the Mi 6X. It reveals that it features 20-megapixel front camera with AI Beauty with Soft-light LED, AI dual camera with 20-megapixel sensor and AIE engine equipped Snapdragon 660 SoC.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="Xiaomi Mi 6x hands-on video leaked" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1whOyUgoS58?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>These videos show that the Mi 6X will be arriving with a design that is very similar to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-5x">Xiaomi Mi 5X</a>. However, the major difference on the Mi 6X is that it features a full screen design and a dual camera module.</p>

Its successor phone – the Xiaomi Mi 6X has been already certified by TENAA authority in China. Just as the Mi 5X was introduced as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-a1/">Mi A1 Android One</a> phone outside of China, the Mi 6X is also pegged to be available as Mi A2 outside of the home market. A tipster was able to find references of Mi A2 and the upcoming Redmi Y2 phone in the source code of the Indian version of the official site of Xiaomi. This suggest that the Xiaomi Mi A2 and Redmi Y2 may debut in India soon.</p>
<p>Texts such as “Mi A2 Hard Case”, “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Black” and “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Blue” has been spotted in the source code of Xiaomi’s site. As of this writing, they are no longer available on the website as they have been removed. However, the tipster was able to capture the following screenshots.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-183926" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Source-Code.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2 Source Code" width="247" height="147" /></p>

<p>The Xiaomi Mi A2 could be an Android One phone like its predecessor. It is likely to arrive with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/26/tenaa-lists-xiaomi-mi-6x-full-specs-up-to-6gb-ram-128gb-storage/">same specs that are available on Mi 6X</a>. Hence, it is rumored to arrive with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD screen that supports FHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is expected to be available in 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variants. For photography, it may feature a dual camera module that may include a 12-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel sensor. For shooting selfies, it may house the same 20-megapixel front-facing camera that is available on the Redmi Note 5 Pro that was launched in February in India. It is speculated to be powered by Snapdragon 636 SoC and it may feature a 2,910mAh battery.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-181527" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/xiaomi-mi-6x-official.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi mi 6x official render" width="750" height="550" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/xiaomi-mi-6x-official.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/xiaomi-mi-6x-official-300x220.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>

<p>Last year, Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 5A and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/redmi-note-5a/">Redmi Note 5A</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-5a-prime/">Note 5A Prime</a> in China. The comapny may also debut the Redmi Y2 Lite alongside the Y2. However, as of this writing, there is no information available on the specs, features and pricing of Y2 and Y2 Lite.</p>

The very same handset was made available internationally as Mi A1, the first Android One phone from Xiaomi. Rumors are rife that the company has already started working on Mi 6X. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/05/xiaomi-mi-6x-leaked-image-showing-metallic-rear-hints-production-full-swing/">Previous leaks</a> have already revealed what sort of design it will be arriving with. Just like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-a1/">Mi A1</a>, the Mi 6X is pegged to launch internationally as Mi A2. Designers at Tech Configurations have created a concept model of the Mi A2 based on the rumors surrounding it.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-174916" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Front-and-Rear.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2 Concept" width="1147" height="711" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Front-and-Rear.png 1147w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Front-and-Rear-300x186.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Front-and-Rear-768x476.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Front-and-Rear-1024x635.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Front-and-Rear-540x335.png 540w" sizes="(max-width: 1147px) 100vw, 1147px" /><br />
The Xiaomi Mi A2 concept model can be seen sporting a full screen design. The side bezels are thin, and the upper and lower bezels are thinner than Mi A1. The upper bezel features a 20-megapixel selfie camera that is coupled with an LED flash. It is equipped with f/2.2 aperture and Smart Beauty 4.0 like the Redmi Note 5 Pro for snapping enhanced selfie shots with AI.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-174923" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Selfie-Camera.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2 Concept " width="1250" height="603" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Selfie-Camera.png 1250w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Selfie-Camera-300x145.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Selfie-Camera-768x370.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Selfie-Camera-1024x494.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1250px) 100vw, 1250px" /></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-174922" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Rear-Camera.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2 Concept " width="1280" height="601" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Rear-Camera.png 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Rear-Camera-300x141.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Rear-Camera-768x361.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Rear-Camera-1024x481.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>The antenna bands are located on the upper and bottom edges of the rear panel. The fingerprint scanner is also residing on the backside of the Mi A1 concept. The vertically arranged dual camera sensors are separated by an LED flash. It features a 12-megapixel sensor and 5-megapixel sensor. It is enabled with features like f/2.2 aperture lens, PDAF and OIS. The 6-inch display of the Mi A2 concept phone supports FHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-174920" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Display.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2 Concept " width="1212" height="571" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Display.png 1212w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Display-300x141.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Display-768x362.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Display-1024x482.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1212px) 100vw, 1212px" /></p>
<p>The Mi A2 concept model suggests that the actual device will be either powered by Surge S2, the upcoming in-house chipset from Xiaomi or the Snapdragon 636 that has been introduced through the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The 32 GB and 64 GB storage models of the Mi A2 concept phone respectively feature 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-174921" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Bottom-View.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi A2 Concept " width="1255" height="578" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Bottom-View.png 1255w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Bottom-View-300x138.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Bottom-View-768x354.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Xiaomi-Mi-A2-Concept-Bottom-View-1024x472.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1255px) 100vw, 1255px" /></p>
<p>The bottom side of the phone features a 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C and an external speaker. The concept model has three color variants such as Silver, Red and Black.</p>

<p>This indicates that the launch of the smartphone could be drawing near. Also, the presence of numerous metallic rear panels indicate that the company could be gearing up for the unveiling of the phone. However, there is no concrete evidence to confirm whether the Mi 6X will be arriving soon as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-5x/">Xiaomi Mi 5X</a> was unveiled in July last year.</p>
<p>As far as other specs of the phone are concerned, the Mi 6X is likely to arrive with Full HD+ resolution display supporting of around 6 inches. It appears we may be getting a successor to the Mi 5X, which is unsurprisingly called the Mi 6X.</p>
<p>A new leak regarding the upcoming device has surfaced in form of a photo of the phone&#8217;s rear. This is not the first time a leak of the Mi 6X has been seen. About a month ago, a photo of a TPU case was seen online.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-168388" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Xiaomi-Mi-6X-rear-panel.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 6X rear panel" width="312" height="645" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Xiaomi-Mi-6X-rear-panel.jpg 312w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Xiaomi-Mi-6X-rear-panel-145x300.jpg 145w" sizes="(max-width: 312px) 100vw, 312px" /></p>
<p>Just like the first leak, the Mi 6X is shown sporting dual rear cameras arranged vertically and positioned on the left. This deviates from the horizontal arrangement of the Mi 5X. The image also shows the LED flash will sit in between the two lens, similar to Apple&#8217;s iPhone X.</p>
<p>However, there is another hole in the middle of the phone. It is obvious from its size that this is not for the fingerprint scanner and so we are in the dark as to what will sit in the hole.</p>
<p>The rest of the design is similar to that of the Mi 5X. It has the same antenna line design and the same curved sides too. It is also made of metal.</p>

<p>Specs of the Mi 6X are currently unknown. However, if we are to go by the specs of the Mi 5X, we expect the 6X will also have a bigger screen, a bigger battery, and a less powerful processor than the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-6/">Mi 6</a>.</p>
<p>Xiaomi hasn&#8217;t confirmed that the Mi 6X exists, so there is a chance these leaks are not genuine. We advise you to take them with a pinch of salt.</p>

The phone is actually a rebranded <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-5x/">Mi 5X</a>. Once people realized that, the question of if it was possible to port its ROM to the Mi 5X popped up.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-142409" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x.jpeg?x44794" alt="xiaomi mi 5x" width="800" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x.jpeg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-768x432.jpeg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>We also saw a different set asking if it&#8217;s possible to port the MIUI ROM of the Mi 5X to the Mi A1. While we don&#8217;t have an answer yet for this second group, we are happy to announce that Mi 5X owners can install a stable Mi A1 ROM on their device.</p>
<p>The gratitude goes to a developer named <em>heliOus</em> who ported the ROM. He has confirmed that all the features work and there are no issues.</p>
<p>To install the ROM, you have to unlock your bootloader first, then flash TWRP and download the ROM to your internal storage. The rest is easy from there. The file size is 1.2GB and installation instructions and the download link are available in the source link.</p>
<p>The advantage the Mi A1 has is that it runs Pure Android similar to what you will find on a Google Pixel. The only difference is that it comes with some few MIUI apps. It will also get an update to Android Oreo by the end of the year. If you know Xiaomi, you already know an Oreo update won&#8217;t come that early for MIUI.</p>

<p>The Mi 5X is priced at ¥1499 Yuan (~$230) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB model, this is the same configuration as the Mi A1. There is also a 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant of the Mi 5X that sells for ¥1299 (~$199). We have not seen anyone complain about the port not working on the 32GB variant, so owners of that variant may try it too.</p>

The Chinese firm had introduced the budget-friendly Xiaomi Mi 5X with stellar dual rear cameras in July. During a launch event that happened yesterday in India, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Xiaomi</a> unveiled the same smartphone as Xiaomi Mi A1. It is an Android One smartphone that carries the same specs as Mi 5X, but delivers a stock Android experience. A new video of the Mi A1 has been released to advertise its features.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="Mi A1: Picture Perfect Dual Camera" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cwFVKaLwUCI?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>The above video takes users inside a hall that appears like a museum. The Xiaomi Mi A1 can be seen kept inside for exhibition. Then, different features of the smartphone such as its premium design and amazing dual rear cameras are introduced. The video intends to show that the Mi A1 will deliver pure Android experience as shows the various folders placed on the Homescreen.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-148023" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Xiaomi-Mi-A1-promo.png?x44794" alt="" width="1272" height="612" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Xiaomi-Mi-A1-promo.png 1272w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Xiaomi-Mi-A1-promo-300x144.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Xiaomi-Mi-A1-promo-768x370.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Xiaomi-Mi-A1-promo-1024x493.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1272px) 100vw, 1272px" /><br />
Above the usual apps for phone, messages, Gmail, Chrome browser and camera, there is a line features a folder containing apps from Google and there is another folder that contains apps from Xiaomi such as Mi Store, Mi Community and Mi Remote. This shows that the Mi A1 that runs on Android 7.1 Nougat contains some Xiaomi MIUI apps including the MIUI camera app. At the end of the video, the three color variants of the smartphone such as Black, Rose Gold and Gold can be seen.</p>
<p>OPPO and Vivo smartphones are achieving impressive offline sales and they are mainly advertised as camera phones. The Xiaomi Mi A1 will be available go on sale in India on Sept. 12 on Mi.com and Flipkart. It will be also available through the different Mi Home stores across the country. Xiaomi has also partnered with several offline retailers such as Univercell, Croma, Poorvika and more. It will be available with a price tag of Rs. 14,999 (~$235).</p>

<p>The increase in shipments according to industry sources is as a result of the release of multiple models. Xiaomi keeps pushing out newer models with multiple variants that are priced competitively.</p>
<p>Its latest smartphone, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/redmi-note-5a/">Redmi Note 5A</a> comes in three variants. The cheapest starts at ¥699 ($105) and goes up to ¥1199 ($180) for a 4GB RAM model. This is just the first of the fifth generation Redmi line.</p>
<p>It also released the dual camera <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-5x/">Mi 5X</a> last month, which has the same camera sensors as its flagship, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-6/">Mi 6</a> but with a less powerful processor and of course a lesser price(¥1499/$225).</p>
<p>There are rumors that its large screen flagship, the Mi Note 3 may launch soon. Let&#8217;s also not forget that there is the Mi MIX 2 and possibly a Snapdragon 836 refresh of the Mi 6.</p>

<p>Strategy Analytics says Xiaomi shipped 23.2 million smartphones in Q2 2017, a 58% increase over Q2 2016. Last month, its CEO announced a target of 100 million smartphones for 2018.</p>

<h3><strong>Design &amp; Specification &#8211; Xiaomi Mi 5X</strong></h3>
<p>The Xiaomi Mi 5X has a dual camera setup at the rear which is similar in configuration to that of the Mi 6, a 12MP main sensor paired with a 12MP telephoto lens. We really can&#8217;t say if the camera will be as powerful as that of the Mi 6 as the Mi 5X comes with a less powerful Snapdragon 625 instead of SD835 on the Mi 6. But the camera also features a similar 2X lossless zoom and a Portrait mode which were all available in the Mi 6. Thus, we can safely say Xiaomi installed same camera sensors as the Xiaomi Mi 6 on this cheap model.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-3.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-142425" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5X" width="499" height="665" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-3.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-3-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 499px) 100vw, 499px" /></a></p>
<p>The device features a metal unibody with well-chamfered edges and fused antenna band design at the top and bottom edges. As far as other specifications go, the Xiaomi Mi 5X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor backed by 4GB of RAM while there is 64GB of storage onboard. The mid-range device sports a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080pixels. There is an average 3,080mAh battery crammed inside for long operational duration and standby time. The Mi 5X runs on Xiaomi&#8217;s latest MIUI 9 which was launched in the same event, making it the first Xiaomi model to run MIUI 9 out of the box. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the Mi 5X and an improved audio system.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-2-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-142424" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-2-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5X" width="560" height="747" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-2-1.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-2-1-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /></a></p>
<h3><strong>Pricing &amp; Availability</strong></h3>
<p>Talking about the price, the Mi 5X will be sold for just 1,499 Yuan (~$220) and buyers will have the option of choosing from a Black, Gold and Rose Pink color variants. The device will go on sale in China in the coming weeks and with the price tag and design, this will be one hot-selling product.</p>
<p>Xiaomi seems to be trying hard to grab sales right off OPPO and Vivo in the mid-range segment with this new model but it has to make enough stocks available. Don&#8217;t expect this to roll out outside China soon but if it does, India will likely be its first port of call. As regards to when that will happen, we can&#8217;t say.</p>

Most of these models are upgrades to last year&#8217;s releases, however, in between these launches, we get to meet a couple of brand new devices as well. The <strong>Xiaomi Mi 5X </strong>is one of these new models in the Mi series, which is looking to attract customers who don&#8217;t want to spend as much as $370 on the Mi 6 flagship.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-141701" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-2.jpg?x44794" alt="xiaomi mi 5x" width="600" height="337" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-mi-5x-2-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Xiaomi Mi 5X&#8217;s existence kind of makes sense, especially since Xiaomi&#8217;s flagship model, the Xiaomi Mi 6 was priced higher than usual this year. Instead of 1999 Yuan ($295), the Mi 6 starts at 2499 Yuan ($370). So, there&#8217;s a void in the $250-$380 price segment, which the Mi 5X is probably trying to fill. Not just that, the Mi 5X is said to be the company&#8217;s first smartphone to be sold aggressively via offline channels, much similar to what OPPO has been doing for the past couple of years.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s another interesting thing about the Xiaomi Mi 5X. I can&#8217;t recall a <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> phone that was almost completely revealed before its official launch. In the past, we have seen some revealing teasers about upcoming Xiaomi phone&#8217;s design and features, but the renders often only showcased a small part of the design and not the entire thing. But with the Mi 5X, Xiaomi seems to have <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/06/05/oppo-r11-already-listed-official-website-registrations-launches-june-10/">taken inspiration from the OPPO R11 launc</a>h, revealing its design much before its official release. This is not at all conventional, but OPPO&#8217;s strategies seem to be working well in the past one year and that&#8217;s probably why we have seen so much of the Mi 5X officially even before its official launch.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5X-Featured.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-142129" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5X-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5X" width="1075" height="616" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5X-Featured.jpg 1075w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5X-Featured-300x172.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5X-Featured-768x440.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5X-Featured-1024x587.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-Mi-5X-Featured-870x500.jpg 870w" sizes="(max-width: 1075px) 100vw, 1075px" /></a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Xiaomi Mi 5X Design</strong></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-141696" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5X" width="600" height="337" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Xiaomi is playing it safe with smartphone designs this year. The Redmi series have a standard look among all models and the upcoming Mi 5X also comes with a similar design as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-6/">Mi 6</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-r11/">OPPO R11</a>. In fact, it would have been hard for us to distinguish between the R11 and the Mi 5X, if not for the lack of a physical home button on the front. The rear placed fingerprint scanner is yet another design feature that sets the new phone apart from other models in the market. Note that the Xiaomi Mi 5X has what the Xiaomi Mi 6 didn&#8217;t &#8212; a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Other connectivity ports that we can see in the renders include USB Type-C port and speakers.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-141697" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5X" width="600" height="337" /></a></p>
<p>There will be at least three color options available for the phone, black, rose gold and champagne gold.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Xiaomi Mi 5X Specs</strong></h3>
<p>While officially we know little about the Mi 5X specs, rumors have been quite strong about what we&#8217;ll find inside the new flagship. It is said that there will be two versions of the Xiaomi Mi 5X, one powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 625 with 4GB RAM and another one powered by a more powerful Snapdragon 660 with 6GB of RAM.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x-3.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-141698" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 5X" width="600" height="337" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x-3.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/xiaomi-5x-3-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>As for the cameras, the phone is said to feature a similar setup to the Xiaomi Mi 6, which includes one wide angle and one telephone lens. The possible dual camera setup could be a Sony IM386 wide-angle sensor and a Samsung S5K3M3 telephoto sensor. The resulting pictures could be quite promising but we&#8217;ll have to wait and see as the ISP inside the SD625 may not yield results as good as the Mi 6.</p>
<p>Other rumored features include a 16MP front camera, Android 7.1.1 and 3000mAh battery.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Xiaomi Mi 5X Price &amp; Availability</strong></h3>
<p>Xiaomi Mi 5X standard edition is rumored to start at 1999 Yuan ($295), a price which should have been reserved for the earlier launched Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship. So, as I mentioned above, the Mi 5X seems to be here to fill in that price gap. There&#8217;s still no word on the rumored high version with SD660, but if it gets close to 2499 Yuan ($370), there&#8217;s a good chance that users will start leaning towards the Xiaomi Mi 6 with a faster Snapdragon 835.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-5X-1-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-142252" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-5X-1-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi-5X-price" width="600" height="290" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-5X-1-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Xiaomi-5X-1-2-300x145.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The phone is all set to go <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/07/24/xiaomi-mi-5x-goes-sale-august-1-preorders-already-way/">on sale on August 1</a>.</p>
<p>To be honest, for $295, specs like SD625, 4GB RAM, and 3000mAh won&#8217;t impress Xiaomi fans, considering how there are <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-note-4x/">cheaper Snapdragon 625</a> phones in the company&#8217;s Redmi series. So, the Mi 5X seems to be banking on its dual camera experience to justify a price tag of nearly $300. Moreover, like OPPO, the company could target it sales offline instead of focusing solely on online channels.</p>
<p>Well, we will have to wait and see what&#8217;s so special about the Mi 5X at launch which is on July 26.</p>
