As Xiaomi took the wraps off its long-awaited Mi 10 annual flagship smartphone, the Chinese phone maker made a voluntary announcement, stating the company’s total revenue for last year is likely to surpass 200 billion yuan (US$28 billion).

Moreover, the announcement confirmed that Xiaomi’s R&D (research and development) expenses are envisioned to be about 7 billion yuan (~US$1 billion). Concurrently, the company’s R&D investment for this entire year is expected to surpass RMB 10 billion (~US$1.43 bn).

Aside from that, Xiaomi said it will continue to be devoted to the technology industry and continue investing in research and development. Xiaomi will not deviate its focus from 5G + AIoT in an attempt to broaden its leading edge in IoT. By the end of this year i.e. December 31st, the company’s yearly R&D expenses are likely to exceed RMB 10 billion.

It is worth noting that Xiaomi has stated that the 2019 final results are currently been reviewed, which means, there are chances that the final figures may turn out to be different.

The recently announced Mi Mix Alpha is a result of Xiaomi’s investment into R&D. Although touted as a concept phone, the foldable phone is slated to go into small-scale production. The company planned to launch the Mi Mix Alpha in December last year but decided to postpone the launch indefinitely.

In addition to that, Xiaomi has the bragging rights for releasing the world’s fastest wireless charging technology. Last year, the tech giant announced the new Mi Charge Turbo with capabilities of delivering up to 30W of fast wireless charging.

Wireless charging technology has always been associated with slow charging speeds, but by introducing the Mi Charge Turbo, Xiaomi managed to amend its run-down reputation. The new charger offers relatively faster speeds as compared to its 27W wired charging tech that usually comes with bundled with its flagship devices.

Even the newly announced Mi 10 models feature 30W fast wireless charging as default.

Xiaomi is hosting a launch event in China on 24th September where the company will be launching a few products, including the Mi 9 Pro 5G — the company’s second 5G-enabled smartphone in its home market.

Ahead of the phone’s official launch in China, the company has shared a new teaser poster on Weibo which reveals some key details about the phone’s charging capabilities. Xiaomi confirms that Mi 9 Pro 5G will come with Mi Charge Turbo triple fast charging feature.

The smartphone will have 40W wired fast charging, 30W wireless fast charging as well as 10W reverse charging support. The 30W Super Wireless Flash charing is claimed by the company to charge the 4,000mAh battery up to 50 percent in 25 minutes and takes around 69 minutes to fully charge.

Additionally, the phone also supports 10W reverse wireless charging, making it the first flagship smartphone from the company this year to support reverse wireless charging. This means that the phone can be used to power other devices.

The 40W wired fast charging support for the Mi 9 Pro 5G is a massive upgrade over 27W fast charging support in the Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphone. While it’s on-par with Huawei’s fast charging technology, it lacks behind Vivo’s 44W and OPPO’s new 65W fast charging.

The Mi 9 Pro 5G has already been certified by TENAA, which reveals that the phone will come with a 6.39-inch display and should come powered by Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The smartphone is expected to come powered by a 4,000mAh battery.

Along with the Mi 9 Pro 5G, Xiaomi is also set to introduce its new Mi MIX 4 flagship smartphone which could feature a 100-megapixel camera sensor. The company will also be launching a new Mi TV model and its new MIUI 11 operating system with major updates.

Xiaomi announced the Mi Charge Turbo 30W wireless charging technology at an event in China today. The new charging solution takes wireless charging speeds to new levels, making it even faster than the company’s own wired charging technology. At the same event, Xiaomi also revealed a couple of wireless charging accessories that are in the works.

The first one is the Xiaomi Mi 30W wireless charging stand. The charger comes in an all-white design and is relatively thin. It acts as a dock for your smartphone and features a quiet fan inside. It can wirelessly charge your phone at 30W using the Qi wireless charging standard.

The second product is even more interesting. It supports the company’s current 20W wireless charging standard and comes in at a relatively thick form factor. It’s almost as thick as a book! However, there are a few features that sets it apart. First, this charger is said to come with a smart wireless charging tracking technology. This technology can locate and match the receiving wireless charging coil on your phone with the transmitter coil inside the charger. This ensures that your phone will start charging the moment it is placed on the charger, irrespective of its position. This teaser video (taken from Weibo) actually explains it perfectly.

Further, this 20W Mi wireless charger supports OOB pairing (Out of Box) which is fast and brings security and stability while charging wirelessly. From the image, we can also discern that this 20W smart wireless charger will have a small display that shows the current time as well as the power output.

Xiaomi hasn’t revealed a release date or pricing for these two wireless charging products, but expect it to be present at the Xiaomi Mi 9 5G launch that should happen sometime in the coming weeks.

Xiaomi released the world’s fastest wireless charging technology earlier this year alongside the Xiaomi Mi 9. Today, the company takes that technology a step forward by announcing the new Mi Charge Turbo that promises up to 3OW of fast wireless charging. This is a significant announcement for the smartphone industry given that wireless charging technology has been often criticized for its slow charging speeds. With speeds up to 30W, Xiaomi’s Mi Charge Turbo is even faster than its 27W wired charging tech that’s usually bundled with its flagship smartphones. 

Xiaomi claims that the Mi Charge Turbo can charge a 4000mAh battery wirelessly up to 50% in just 25 minutes and up to 100% in just 69 minutes. So you no longer have to endure the painfully slow charge times while topping up your smartphone wirelessly.

What’s more, the Mi Charge Turbo tech supports fast reverse wireless charging as well. The company said that it can charge accessories like smartwatches, headphones, and even other smartphones wirelessly. The technology can top up the iPhone Xs up to 20% while reverse charging in around 30 minutes. In comparison, Huawei P30 Pro could only charge the same phone up to 13%.

The company also talked about its wired charging technology. We have already heard about Xiaomi’s 100W Super Charge Turbo wired charging technology. It looks like we could see it on a smartphone really soon. But it’ll probably end up first on a Redmi flagship and not on the Mi 9 Pro 5G.

Xiaomi confirmed that the Mi Charge Turbo 30W wireless charging will be first available on its new 5G flagship called the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G. This phone has been making rounds on the internet (often referred to as the Mi 9S 5G) for quite a while and we have already seen it on TENAA with a large 4000mAh battery. With the new 30W wireless charging tech on board, the phone will feature three types of fast charging technology: Fast wired charging, Fast wireless charging, and Fast reverse wireless charging.

It’s worth adding that Xiaomi probably won’t be the only smartphone manufacturer with a fast wireless charging solution. Huawei is also expected to release a 30W wireless charging technology in the coming months.

Xiaomi has today announced that it will be holding an event in China on 9th September where the company is expected launch its new products. One of the product to launch at the event is Mi Charge Turbo.

The Mi Charge Turbo is a wireless charging technology designed for the 5G era, says the company. The product will reportedly provide an improved overall speed as well as will outline the future of the wireless charging technology, claims Xiaomi.

Currently, Xiaomi’s wireless flash charging technology maxes out at 20W while the wired charging peaks at 27W. Now, it seems that the company has closed down the gap and is all set to unveil new wireless charging for the 5G smartphones.

While the company had introduced the 20W wireless charging technology on its Mi 9 flagship smartphone, the same technology is yet to show up on another smartphone from the Chinese company.

It remains to be seen what speed the upcoming Mi Charge Turbo technology will support but it will definitely be faster than 20W. It’d be great if it surpasses Huawei’s 30W wireless charger which was certified by FCC last month and is expected to charge the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

Offering faster charging technology for the 5G smartphones makes sense given that the technology drains out the battery more. We expect the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone — Mi MIX 4 to come powered by this new Mi Charge Turbo Wireless Charging.

Meanwhile, the Chinese company has also scheduled a launch event in India on 17th September where it is expected to unveil multiple products in its smart home range.
